Given any pair $(L,A)$ of Lie algebroids, we construct a differential graded manifold $(L[1]\oplus L/A,Q)$, which we call Fedosov dg manifold. We prove that the cohomological vector field $Q$ constructed on $L[1]\oplus L/A$ by the Fedosov iteration method arises as a byproduct of the Poincaré--Birkhoff--Witt map established in arXiv:1408.2903. Finally, using the homological perturbation lemma, we establish a quasi-isomorphism of Dolgushev--Fedosov type: the differential graded algebras of functions on the dg manifolds $(A[1],d_A)$ and $(L[1]\oplus L/A,Q)$ are homotopy equivalent.
B. Fedosov has given a simple and very natural construction of a deformation quantization for any symplectic manifold, using a flat connection on the bundle of formal Weyl algebras associated to the tangent bundle of a symplectic manifold. The connection is obtained by affinizing, nonlinearizing, and iteratively flattening a given torsion free symplectic connection. In this paper, a classical analog of Fedosov's operations on connections is analyzed and shown to produce the usual exponential mapping of a linear connection on an ordinary manifold. A symplectic version is also analyzed. Finally,…
We study quantization schemes on a Kähler manifold and relate several interesting structures. We first construct Fedosov's star products on a Kähler manifold $X$ as quantizations of Kapranov's $L_\infty$-algebra structure. Then we investigate the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) quantizations associated to these star products. A remarkable feature is that they are all one-loop exact, meaning that the Feynman weights associated to graphs with two or more loops all vanish. This leads to a succinct cochain level formula in de Rham cohomology for the algebraic index.
It is shown that the normalized trace of Fedosov star product for quantum moment map depends only on the path component in the cohomology class of the symplectic form and the cohomology class of the closed formal 2-form required to define Fedosov connections (Theorem 1.3). As an application we obtain a family of obstructions to the existence of closed Fedosov star products naturally attached to symplectic manifolds (Theorem 1.5) and Kähler manifolds (Theorem 1.6). These obstructions are integral invariants depending only on the path component of the cohomology class of the symplectic form. Res…
In a seminal paper Drinfel'd explained how to associate to every classical r-matrix for a Lie algebra $\lie g$ a twisting element based on $\mathcal{U}(\lie g)[[\hbar]]$, or equivalently a left invariant star product of the corresponding symplectic structure $ω$ on the 1-connected Lie group G of g. In a recent paper, the authors solve the same problem by means of Fedosov quantization. In this short note we provide a connection between the two constructions by computing the characteristic (Fedosov) class of the twist constructed by Drinfel'd and proving that it is the trivial class given by $ \…
Fedosov used flat sections of the Weyl bundle on a symplectic manifold to construct a star product $\star$ which gives rise to a deformation quantization. By extending Fedosov's method, we give an explicit, analytic construction of a sheaf of Bargmann-Fock modules over the Weyl bundle of a Kähler manifold $X$ equipped with a compatible Fedosov abelian connection, and show that the sheaf of flat sections forms a module sheaf over the sheaf of deformation quantization algebras defined $(C^\infty_X[[\hbar]], \star)$. This sheaf can be viewed as the $\hbar$-expansion of $L^{\otimes k}$ as $k \to \…
We extend Fedosov deformation quantization to general contact manifolds. Unlike the case of symplectic manifolds, not every classical observable on a contact manifold is generally quantized. On examination of possible obstructions to quantization, we obtain some new invariants of contact manifolds.
We prove that the spaces $\operatorname{tot}\big(Γ(Λ^\bullet A^\vee \otimes_R\mathcal{T}_{\operatorname{poly}}^{\bullet}\big)$ and $\operatorname{tot}\big(Γ(Λ^\bullet A^\vee)\otimes_R\mathcal{D}_{\operatorname{poly}}^{\bullet}\big)$ associated with a Lie pair $(L,A)$ each carry an $L_\infty$ algebra structure canonical up to an $L_\infty$ isomorphism with the identity map as linear part. These two spaces serve, respectively, as replacements for the spaces of formal polyvector fields and formal polydifferential operators on the Lie pair $(L,A)$. Consequently, both $\mathbb{H}^\bullet_{\operator…
Let $(\mathcal{M}, Q)$ be a dg manifold. The space of vector fields with shifted degrees $(\mathcal{X}(\mathcal{M})[-1], L_Q)$ is a Lie algebra object in the homology category $\mathrm{H}((C^{\infty}_{\mathcal{M}},Q)\mathrm{-}\mathbf{mod})$ of dg modules over $(\mathcal{M},Q)$, the Atiyah class $α_{\mathcal{M}}$ being its Lie bracket. The triple $(\mathcal{X}(\mathcal{M})[-1], L_Q; α_{\mathcal{M}})$ is also a Lie algebra object in the Gabriel-Zisman homotopy category $Π((C^{\infty}_{\mathcal{M}},Q)\mathrm{-}\mathbf{mod})$. In this paper, we describe the universal enveloping algebra of $(\mathc…
