Many systems of interest in science and engineering are made up of interacting subsystems. These subsystems, in turn, could be made up of collections of smaller interacting subsystems and so on. In a series of papers David Spivak with collaborators formalized these kinds of structures (systems of systems) as algebras over presentable colored operads.
It is also very useful to consider maps between dynamical systems. This amounts to viewing dynamical systems as objects in an appropriate category. This is the point taken by DeVille and Lerman in the study of dynamics on networks.
The goal of this paper is to describe an algebraic structure that encompasses both approaches to systems of systems. To this end we replace the monoidal category of wiring diagrams by a monoidal double category whose objects are surjective submersions. This allows us, on one hand, build new large open systems out of collections of smaller open subsystems and on the other keep track of maps between open systems. As a special case we recover the results of DeVille and Lerman on fibrations of networks of manifolds.
We will characterize topological conjugate one-sided topological Markov shifts in terms of their subgroups of continuous full groups and subalgebras of Cuntz--Krieger algebras.
A family of Lie algebras of minimal dimension associated with vector fields that define a non-linear dynamical system is calculated. These Lie algebras contain the Heinsenberg algebra. An element that distinguishes these vector fields is called evapotranspiration function. This function can be calculated solving equations in partial derivatives that arise in determining the Heinsenberg algebra. Using Kozsul homology for this Lie algebras, Euler characteristic is calculated.
Extending the work of Cuntz and Vershik, we develop a general notion of independence for commuting group endomorphisms. Based on this concept, we initiate the study of irreversible algebraic dynamical systems, which can be thought of as irreversible analogues of the dynamical systems considered by Schmidt. To each irreversible algebraic dynamical system, we associate a universal C*-algebra and show that it is a UCT Kirchberg algebra under natural assumptions. Moreover, we discuss the structure of the core subalgebra, which is closely related to generalised Bunce-Deddens algebras in the sense o…
We introduce algebraic dynamical systems, which consist of an action of a right LCM semigroup by injective endomorphisms of a group. To each algebraic dynamical system we associate a C*-algebra and describe it as a semigroup C*-algebra. As part of our analysis of these C*-algebras we prove results for right LCM semigroups. More precisely we discuss functoriality of the full semigroup C*-algebra and compute its K-theory for a large class of semigroups. We introduce the notion of a Nica-Toeplitz algebra of a product system over a right LCM semigroup, and show that it provides a useful alternativ…
We study KMS states for gauge actions with potential functions on Cuntz--Krieger algebras whose underlying one-sided topological Markov shifts are continuous orbit equivalent. As a result, we have a certain relationship between topological entropy of continuous orbit equivalent one-sided topological Markov shifts.
In the first part of the paper, we introduce notions of asymptotic continuous orbit equivalence and asymptotic conjugacy in Smale spaces and characterize them in terms of their asymptotic Ruelle algebras with their dual actions. In the second part, we introduce a groupoid $C^*$-algebra which is an extended version of the asymptotic Ruelle algebra from a Smale space and study the extended Ruelle algebras from the view points of Cuntz--Krieger algebras. As a result, the asymptotic Ruelle algebra is realized as a fixed point algebra of the extended Ruelle algebra under certain circle action.
We will study torus actions on Cuntz--Krieger algebras trivially acting on its canonical maximal abelian $C^*$-subalgebras from the view points of continuous orbit equivalence of one-sided topological Markov shifts and flow equivalence of two-sided topological Markov shifts.
In this paper, we obtain sufficient and necessary conditions of some classical convex sets as positively invariant sets for a continuous dynamical system, namely positive invariance conditions. The approach is based on Nagumo Theorem by deriving the tangent cones of these sets. We also propose approaches using optimization theory and models to verify the existence of these sufficient and necessary conditions.
We consider a sequence of matrices that are associated to Markov dynamical systems and use determinant-free linear algebra techniques (as well as some algebra and complex analysis) to rigorously estimate the eigenvalues of every matrix simultaneously without doing any calculations on the matrices themselves. As a corollary, we obtain mixing rates for every system at once, as well as symmetry properties of densities associated to the system; we also find the spectral properties of a sequence of related factor systems.
Relation of stability and bifurcation properties between continuous and ultradiscrete dynamical systems via discretization with positivity: one dimensional cases
We show that there is a natural restriction on the smoothness of spaces where the transfer operator for a continuous dynamical system has a spectral gap. Such a space cannot be embedded in a Hölder space with Hölder exponent greater than 1/2 unless it consists entirely of coboundaries.
A categorical theory for the discretization of a large class of dynamical systems with variable coefficients is proposed. It is based on the existence of covariant functors between the Rota category of Galois differential algebras and suitable categories of abstract dynamical systems. The integrable maps obtained share with their continuous counterparts a large class of solutions and, in the linear case, the Picard-Vessiot group.
In this paper, we show that the generalized fixed-point algebra of a proper groupoid dynamical system, under certain assumptions, may be fibered over any locally compact Hausdorff space to which a continuous map exists from the unit space of the underlying groupoid. We will also provide some important examples.
Let $X$ be a compact metrizable group and $Γ$ a countable group acting on $X$ by continuous group automorphisms. We give sufficient conditions under which the dynamical system $(X,Γ)$ is surjunctive, i.e., every injective continuous map $τ\colon X \to X$ commuting with the action of $Γ$ is surjective.
We show how singularities shape the evolution of rational discrete dynamical systems. The stabilisation of the form of the iterates suggests a description providing among other things generalised Hirota form, exact evaluation of the algebraic entropy as well as remarkable polynomial factorisation properties. We illustrate the phenomenon explicitly with examples covering a wide range of models.
A Fejér-type theorem is proved within the framework of $C^*$-algebras associated with certain irreversible algebraic dynamical systems. This makes it possible to strengthen a result on the structure of the relative commutant of a family of generating isometries in a boundary quotient.
