The Weil-Etale Topology for Number Rings

We would like to construct a new Grothendieck topology for arithmetic schemes, whose cohomology groups associated with motivic complexes of sheaves are finitely generated and whose Euler characteristics are related to special values of zeta-functions. In this paper we construct this topology for rings of algebraic integers and show that the cohomology of the constant sheaf Z is related to the behavior of zeta-functions at s = 0.

Weil-etale cohomology over finite fields

We calculate the total derived functor for the map from the Weil-etale site introduced by Lichtenbaum to the etale site for varieties over finite fields. In particular, there is a long exact sequence relating Weil-etale cohomology and etale cohomology. In the second half of the paper, we apply this to study the Weil-etale cohomology of the motivic complex for smooth and projective varieties. Motivic Serre invariants, ramification, and the analytic Milnor fiber

We show how formal and rigid geometry can be used in the theory of complex singularities, and in particular in the study of the Milnor fibration and the motivic zeta function. We introduce the so-called analytic Milnor fiber associated to the germ of a morphism f from a smooth complex algebraic variety X to the affine line. This analytic Milnor fiber is a smooth rigid variety over the field of Laurent series C((t)). Zeta functions of regular arithmetic schemes at s=0

Lichtenbaum conjectured the existence of a Weil-étale cohomology in order to describe the vanishing order and the special value of the Zeta function of an arithmetic scheme $\mathcal{X}$ at $s=0$ in terms of Euler-Poincaré characteristics. Graded-Tannakian categories of motives

Given a rigid tensor-triangulated category and a vector space valued homological functor for which the Künneth isomorphism holds, we construct a universal graded-Tannakian category through which the given homological functor factors. We use this to (unconditionally) construct graded-Tannakian categories of pure motives associated to a fixed Weil cohomology theory, with a fiber functor realizing the given cohomology theory.
