我们说对称群$\mathfrak{S}_n$中的置换$π=π_1π_2\cdotsπ_n$如果$π_{i-1}<π_i>π_{i+1}$在索引$i$处有一个峰,我们令$P(π)=\{i \in \{1, 2, \ldots, n\} \, \vert \, \mbox{$ i $ is a peak of $ π $}\}$。
We say a permutation $π=π_1π_2\cdotsπ_n$ in the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ has a peak at index $i$ if $π_{i-1}<π_i>π_{i+1}$ and we let $P(π)=\{i \in \{1, 2, \ldots, n\} \, \vert \, \mbox{$i$ is a peak of $π$}\}$. Given a set $S$ of positive integers, we let $P (S; n)$ denote the subset of $\mathfrak{S}_n$ consisting of all permutations $π$, where $P(π) =S$. In 2013, Billey, Burdzy, and Sagan proved $|P(S;n)| = p(n)2^{n-\lvert S\rvert-1}$, where $p(n)$ is a polynomial of degree $\max(S)- 1$. In 2014, Castro-Velez et al. considered the Coxeter group of type $B_n$ as the group of signed permutations on $n$ letters and showed that $\lvert P_B(S;n)\rvert=p(n)2^{2n-|S|-1}$ where $p(n)$ is the same polynomial of degree $\max(S)-1$. In this paper we partition the sets $P(S;n) \subset \mathfrak{S}_n$ studied by Billey, Burdzy, and Sagan into subsets of $P(S;n)$ of permutations with peak set $S$ that end with an ascent to a fixed integer $k$ or a descent and provide polynomial formulas for the cardinalities of these subsets. After embedding the Coxeter groups of Lie type $C_n$ and $D_n$ into $\mathfrak{S}_{2n}$, we partition these groups into bundles of permutations $π_1π_2 \cdotsπ_n|π_{n+1}\cdots π_{2n}$ such that $π_1π_2\cdots π_n$ has the same relative order as some permutation $σ_1σ_2\cdotsσ_n \in \mathfrak{S}_n$. This allows us to count the number of permutations in types $C_n$ and $D_n$ with a given peak set $S$ by reducing the enumeration to calculations in the symmetric group and sums across the rows of Pascal's triangle.
In this extended abstract we announce a proof that, in a Coxeter group of rank 3, low elements are in bijection with small inversion sets. This gives a partial confirmation of Conjecture 2 in [Dyer, Hohlweg '16]. That same article provides the main ingredient: the bipodality of the set of small roots is used to propagate information on the vertices of inversion polytopes.
For a given $w$ in a Coxeter group $W$ the elements $u$ smaller than $w$ in Bruhat order can be seen as the end-alcoves of stammering galleries of type $w$ in the Coxeter complex $Σ$. We generalize this notion and consider sets of end-alcoves of galleries that are positively folded with respect to certain orientation $ϕ$ of $Σ$. We call these sets shadows. Positively folded galleries are closely related to the geometric study of affine Deligne-Lusztig varieties, MV polytopes, Hall-Littlewood polynomials and many more agebraic structures. In this paper we will introduce various notions of orien…
In this article we introduce the notion of a \textit{regular partition} of a Coxeter group. We develop the theory of these partitions, and show that the class of regular partitions is essentially equivalent to the class of automata (not necessarily finite state) recognising the language of reduced words in the Coxeter group. As an application of this theory we prove that each cone type in a Coxeter group has a unique minimal length representative. This result can be seen as an analogue of Shi's classical result that each component of the Shi arrangement of an affine Coxeter group has a unique …
We describe an algorithm to identify a minimal set of "braid relations" which span and preserve all sets of involution words for twisted Coxeter systems of finite or affine type. We classify the cases in which adding the smallest possible set of "half-braid" relations to the ordinary braid relations produces a spanning set: in the untwisted case, this occurs for the Coxeter systems which are finite with rank two or type $A_n$, or affine with rank three or type $\tilde A_n$. These results generalize recent work of Hu and Zhang on the finite classical cases.
In Artin-Tits groups attached to Coxeter groups of spherical type, we give a combinatorial formula to express the simple elements of the dual braid monoids in the classical Artin generators. Every simple dual braid is obtained by lifting an $S$-reduced expression of its image in the Coxeter group, in a way which involves Reading's $c$-sortable elements. It has as an immediate consequence that simple dual braids are Mikado braids (the known proofs of this result either require topological realizations of the Artin groups or categorification techniques), and hence that their images in the Iwahor…
In this paper, we use combinatorial group theory and a limiting process to connect various types of hypergeometric series, and of relations among such series. We begin with a set $S$ of 56 distinct translates of a certain function $M$, which takes the form of a Barnes integral, and is expressible as a sum of two very-well-poised $_9F_8$ hypergeometric series of unit argument. We consider a known, transitive action of the Coxeter group $W(E_7)$ on this set. We show that, by removing from $W(E_7)$ a particular generator, we obtain a subgroup that is isomorphic to $W(D_6)$, and that acts intransi…
We follow the dual approach to Coxeter systems and show for Weyl groups a criterium which decides whether a set of reflections is generating the group depending on the root and the coroot lattice. Further we study special generating sets involving a parabolic subgroup and show that they are very tame.
In this paper, we establish a bijection between the infinite reduced words of an affine Weyl group and certain biclosed sets of its positive system and determine all finitely generated biclosed sets in the positive system of an affine Weyl group. Using these results, we show first that the biclosed sets in the standard positive system of rank 3 affine Weyl groups when ordered by inclusion form a complete algebraic ortholattice and secondly that the (generalized) braid graphs of those Coxeter groups are connected, which can be thought of as an infinite version of Tit's solution to the word prob…
