In this paper, we give some characterizations of orthogonality preserving mappings between inner product spaces. Furthermore, we study the linear mappings that preserve some angles. One of our main results states that if $\mathcal{X}, \mathcal{Y}$ are real inner product spaces and $θ\in(0, π)$, then an injective nonzero linear mapping $T:\mathcal{X}\longrightarrow \mathcal{Y}$ is a similarity whenever (i) $x\undersetθ{\angle} y\, \Leftrightarrow \,Tx\undersetθ{\angle} Ty$ for all $x, y\in \mathcal{X}$; (ii) for all $x, y\in \mathcal{X}$, $\|x\|=\|y\|$ and $x\undersetθ{\angle} y$ ensure that $\|Tx\|=\|Ty\|$. We also investigate orthogonality preserving mappings in the setting of inner product $C^{*}$-modules. Another result shows that if $\mathbb{K}(\mathscr{H})\subseteq\mathscr{A}\subseteq\mathbb{B}(\mathscr{H})$ is a $C^{*}$-algebra and $T\,:\mathscr{E}\longrightarrow \mathscr{F}$ is an $\mathscr{A}$-linear mapping between inner product $\mathscr{A}$-modules, then $T$ is orthogonality preserving if and only if $|x|\leq|y|\, \Rightarrow \,|Tx|\leq|Ty|$ for all $x, y\in \mathscr{E}$.
In this paper, we present some characterizations of linear mappings, which preserve vectors at a specific angle. We introduce the concept of $(\varepsilon, c)$-angle preserving mappings for $|c|<1$ and $0\leq \varepsilon < 1 + |c|$. In addition, we define $\widehat{\varepsilon}\,(T, c)$ as the ``smallest'' number $\varepsilon$ for which $T$ is $(\varepsilon, c)$-angle preserving mapping. We state some properties of the function $\widehat{\varepsilon}\,(., c)$, and then propose an exact formula for $\widehat{\varepsilon}\,(T, c)$ in terms of the norm $\|T\|$ and the minimum modulus $[T]$ of $T$…
We introduce a notion of approximate orthogonality preserving mappings between Hilbert $C^*$-modules. We define the concept of $(δ, \varepsilon)$-orthogonality preserving mapping and give some sufficient conditions for a linear mapping to be $(δ, \varepsilon)$-orthogonality preserving. In particular, if $\mathscr{E}$ is a full Hilbert $\mathscr{A}$-module with $\mathbb{K}(\mathscr{H})\subseteq \mathscr{A} \subseteq \mathbb{B}(\mathscr{H})$ and $T, S:\mathscr{E}\longrightarrow \mathscr{E}$ are two linear mappings satisfying $\big|\langle Sx, Sy\rangle\big| = \|S\|^2\,|\langle x, y\rangle|$ for …
We prove that every surjective unital linear mapping which preserves invertible elements from a Banach algebra onto a C*-algebra carrying a faithful tracial state is a Jordan homomorphism thus generalising Aupetit's 1998 result for finite von Neumann algebras.
In this paper, linear $\varepsilon$-orthogonality preserving mappings are studied. We define $\hat{\varepsilon}\left(T\right) $ as the smallest $\varepsilon$ for which $T$ is $\varepsilon$-orthogonality preserving, and then derive an exact formula for $\hat{\varepsilon}\left( T\right) $ in terms of $\left \Vert T\right \Vert $ and the minimum modulus $m\left( T\right) $ of $T$. We see that $\varepsilon$-orthogonality preserving mappings (for some $\varepsilon<1$) are exactly the operators that are bounded from below. We improve an upper bounded in the stability equation given in [7, Theorem 2.…
We study holomorphic maps between C$^*$-algebras $A$ and $B$. When $f:B_A (0,\varrho) \longrightarrow B$ is a holomorphic mapping whose Taylor series at zero is uniformly converging in some open unit ball $U=B_{A}(0,δ)$ and we assume that $f$ is orthogonality preserving on $A_{sa}\cap U$, orthogonally additive on $U$ and $f(U)$ contains an invertible element in $B$, then there exist a sequence $(h_n)$ in $B^{**}$ and Jordan $^*$-homomorphisms $Θ, \widetildeΘ : M(A) \to B^{**}$ such that $$ f(x) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty h_n \widetildeΘ (a^n)= \sum_{n=1}^\infty Θ (a^n) h_n,$$ uniformly in $a\in U$. W…
We give a positive answer to the Aleksandrov problem in $n$-normed spaces under the surjectivity assumption. Namely, we show that every surjective mapping preserving $n$-distance one is affine, and thus is an $n$-isometry. This is the first time to solve the Aleksandrov problem in $n$-normed spaces with only surjective assumption even in the usual case $n=2$. Finally, when the target space is $n$-strictly convex, we prove that every mapping preserving two $n$-distances with an integer ratio is an affine $n$-isometry.
We study the triangle inequalities for angles (with different definitions) and present inequalities concerning the entries of correlation matrices through the positivity of $3\times 3$ matrices. We extend our discussions to the inequalities concerning the triangle triplets with metric-preserving and subadditive functions.
We prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of linear n-inner product preserving mappings in $n$-inner product Banach spaces. We apply the Cauchy-Rassias inequality that plays an influencial role in the subject of functional equations. The inequality was introduced for the first time by Th.M.Rassias in his paper entitled: On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math.Soc. 72(1978), 297-300.
A mapping $f: {\mathcal M} \to {\mathcal N}$ between Hilbert $C^*$-modules approximately preserves the inner product if \[\|< f(x), f(y)> - < x, y> \| \leq ϕ(x, y),\] for an appropriate control function $ϕ(x,y)$ and all $x, y \in {\mathcal M}$. In this paper, we extend some results concerning the stability of the orthogonality equation to the framework of Hilbert $C^*$-modules on more general restricted domains. In particular, we investigate some asymptotic behavior and the Hyers--Ulam--Rassias stability of the orthogonality equation.
In this paper we study variations of the first non-trivial eigenvalues of the two-dimensional $p$-Laplace operator, $p>2$, generated by measure preserving quasiconformal mappings $φ: \mathbb D\toΩ$, $Ω\subset\mathbb R^2$. This study is based on the geometric theory of composition operators on Sobolev spaces with applications to sharp embedding theorems. By using a sharp version of the reverse Hölder inequality we obtain lower estimates of the first non-trivial eigenvalues for Ahlfors type domains.
Regarding the geometry of a real normed space ${\mathcal X}$, we mainly introduce a notion of approximate bisectrix-orthogonality on vectors $x, y \in {\mathcal X}$ as follows: $${x\np{\varepsilon}}_W y \mbox{if and only if} \sqrt{2}\frac{1-\varepsilon}{1+\varepsilon}\|x\|\,\|y\|\leq \Big\|\,\|y\|x+\|x\|y\,\Big\|\leq\sqrt{2}\frac{1+\varepsilon}{1-\varepsilon}\|x\|\,\|y\|.$$ We study class of linear mappings preserving the approximately bisectrix-orthogonality ${\np{\varepsilon}}_W$. In particular, we show that if $T: {\mathcal X}\to {\mathcal Y}$ is an approximate linear similarity, then $${x\…
Let $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ be two unital complex $\ast $-algebras such that $\mathcal{A}$ has a nontrivial projection. In this paper, we study the structure of bijective mappings $Φ:\mathcal{A}\rightarrow \mathcal{B}$ preserving sum of triple products $α_{1} ab^{*}c+α_{2} acb^{*}+α_{3} b^{*}ac +α_{4} cab^{*}+α_{5} b^{*}ca+α_{6} cb^{*}a,$ where the scalars $\{α_{k}\}_{k=1}^{6}$ are complex numbers satisfying some conditions. Applications of obtained results are given.
We investigate the situation when a normal positive linear unital map on a semifinite von Neumann algebra leaving the trace invariant does not change fixed quantum Renyi's entropy of the density of a normal state. It is also shown that such a map does not change the entropy of any density if and only if it is a Jordan *-isomorphism on the algebra.
In this paper, we first show that for a Banach space $X$ there is a fully order reversing mapping $T$ from ${\rm conv}(X)$ (the cone of all extended real-valued lower semicontinuous proper convex functions defined on $X$) onto itself if and only if $X$ is reflexive and linearly isomorphic to its dual $X^*$. Then we further prove the following generalized ``Artstein-Avidan-Milman'' representation theorem: For every fully order reversing mapping $T:{\rm conv}(X)\rightarrow {\rm conv}(X)$ there exist a linear isomorphism $U:X\rightarrow X^*$, $x_0^*, \;φ_0\in X^*$, $α>0$ and $r_0\in\mathbb R$ so …

Wigner's classical theorem on symmetry transformations plays a fundamental role in quantum mechanics. It can be formulated, for example, in the following way: Every bijective transformation on the set L of all 1-dimensional subspaces of a Hilbert space H which preserves the angle between the elements of L is induced by either a unitary or an antiunitary operator on H. The aim of this paper is to extend Wigner's result from the 1-dimensional case to the case of n-dimensional subspaces of H with n fixed.
In this paper we present results concerning orthogonality in Hilbert $C^*$-modules. Moreover, for a $C^*$-algebra $\mathscr{A}$, we prove theorems concerning the multi-$\mathscr{A}$-linearity and its preservation by $\mathscr{A}$-linear operators. New version of solution of the orthogonality equation on Hilbert $C^*$-modules and mappings preserving orthogonality are also investigated.

We say that a smooth normed space $X$ has a property (SL), if every mapping $f:X \to X$ preserving the semi-inner product on $X$ is linear. It is well known that every Hilbert space has the property (SL) and the same is true for every finite-dimensional smooth normed space. In this paper, we establish several new results concerning the property (SL). We give a simple example of a smooth and strictly convex Banach space which is isomorphic to the space $\ell_p$, but without the property (SL). Moreover, we provide a characterization of the property (SL) in the class of reflexive smooth Banach sp…
This paper proves some results concerning the polar factorisation of an integrable vector-valued function u into the composition of the gradient of a convex function with a measure-preserving mapping. Not every integrable function has a polar factorisation; we extend the class of counterexamples. We introduce a generalisation: u has a polar inclusion if u(x) belongs to the subdifferential of the convex function at y for almost every pair (x,y) with respect to a measure-preserving plan. Given a regularity assumption, we show that such measure-preserving plans are exactly the minimisers of a Mon…
In this paper, we describe linear maps between complex Banach algebras that preserve products equal to fixed elements. This generalizes some important special cases where the fixed elements are the zero or identity element. First we show that if such map preserves products equal to a finite-rank operator, then it must also preserve the zero product. In several instances, this is enough to show that a product preserving map must be a scalar multiple of an algebra homomorphism. Second, we explore a more general problem concerning the existence of product preserving maps and the relationship betw…
We prove that if $F$ is a Lipschitz map from the set of all complex $n\times n$ matrices into itself with $F(0)=0$ such that given any $x$ and $y$ we have that $% F\left( x\right) -F\left( y\right) $ and $x-y$ have at least one common eigenvalue, then either $F\left( x\right) =uxu^{-1}$ or $F\left( x\right) =ux^{t}u^{-1}$ for all $x$, for some invertible $n\times n$ matrix $u$. We arrive at the same conclusion by supposing $F$ to be of class $\mathcal{C}% ^{1}$ on a domain in $\mathcal{M}_{n}$ containing the null matrix, instead of Lipschitz. We also prove that if $F$ is of class $\mathcal{C}^…
One could observe drastically different dynamics of zero-sum and non-zero-sum games under replicator equations. In zero-sum games, heteroclinic cycles naturally occur whenever the species of the population supersede each other in a cyclic fashion (like for the Rock-Paper-Scissors game). In this case, the highly erratic oscillations may cause the divergence of the time averages. In contrast, it is a common belief that the most ``reasonable" replicator equations of non-zero-sum games satisfy ``The Folk Theorem of Evolutionary Game Theory" which asserts that (i) a Nash equilibrium is a rest point…
With the notion of mode-$j$ Birkhoff contraction ratio, we prove a multilinear version of the Birkhoff-Hopf and the Perron-Fronenius theorems, which provide conditions on the existence and uniqueness of a solution to a large family of systems of nonlinear equations of the type $f_i(x_1,\dots,x_ν)= λ_i x_i$, being $x_i$ and element of a cone $C_i$ in a Banach space $V_i$. We then consider a family of nonlinear integral operators $f_i$ with positive kernel, acting on product of spaces of continuous real valued functions. In this setting we provide an explicit formula for the mode-$j$ contraction…
It was shown by Kaup that every origin-preserving automorphism of quasi-circular domains is a polynomial mapping. In this paper, we study how the weight of quasi-circular domains and the degree of such automorphisms are related. By using the Bergman mapping, we prove that every origin-preserving automorphism of normal quasi-circular domains in $\mathbb C^2$ is linear.
