The manuscript is devoted to the description of the results obtained in the frame of the modified potential cluster model with the classification of states according to Young tableaux for neutron and proton radiative capture processes on 2H at thermal and astrophysical energies. It demonstrates methods of application that were obtained on the basis of phase shift analysis and characteristics of the bound states of 2H potentials for consideration of the radiative capture processes. First reaction of the proton capture directly takes part in the pp solar cycle, where it is the second reaction. The neutron capture is not a part of usual thermonuclear cycles in the Sun and stars, but can take part in the processes of primordial nucleosynthesis, following at formation and evolution of our entire Universe.
The book considers some theoretical questions of nuclear astro-physics thermal energies and light atomic nuclei. For the analysis of re-actions is used potential two cluster model of light nuclei with classifica-tion of states by orbital schemes. On its basis photonuclear processes in p2H, p3H, p6Li, p7Li, p9Be and p12C, and also 2H4He, 3H4He, 3He4He and 4He12C channels are considered and astrophysical S - factors corre-sponding to them are calculated. It is shown, that used methods allow to describe well available experimental data in the field of astrophysical energies. This Book is written …
The creation of transuranium nuclides under pulsed neutron fluxes of thermonuclear explosions is investigated within the kinetic model of the astrophysical r process, taking into account the time dependence of the external parameters and the processes accompanying the beta decay of neutron-rich nuclei. Time-dependent neutron fluxes in the interval ~ 10e-6 s were modeled within the framework of the developed adiabatic binary model. The probabilities of beta-delayed processes were calculated on the base of the microscopic theory of finite Fermi systems. Calculations of transuranium nuclides yiel…
The book covers the certain questions of nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics of light atomic nuclei and their processes at low and ultralow energies. Some methods of calculation of nuclear characteristics of the thermonuclear processes considered in nuclear astrophysics are given here. The obtained results are directly applicable to the solution of certain nuclear astrophysics problems in the field of description of the thermonuclear processes in the Sun, the stars and the Universe. The book is based on the results of approximately three-four tens of scientific papers generally published …
In this review we have considered the possibility to describe the astrophysical S-factors of radiative capture reactions with light atomic nuclei on the basis of the potential two-cluster model by taking into account the splitting the orbital states according to Young's schemes. Within this model, interaction of the nucleon clusters is described by local two-particle potential determined by fit to the scattering data and properties of bound states of these clusters. Many-body character of the problem is taken into account under some approximation, in terms of the allowed or forbidden by the Pa…
Recently, the triple-α(3α) process, by which three 4He nuclei are fused into a 12C nucleus in stars, was studied by different methods in solving the quantum mechanical three-body problem. Their results of the thermonuclear reaction rate for the process differ by several orders at low stellar temperatures of 10^7 - 10^8 K. In this paper, we will present calculations of the 3αprocess by a modified Faddeev three-body formalism in which the long-range effects of Coulomb interactions are accommodated. The reaction rate of the process is calculated via an inverse process, three-alpha (3-α) photodisi…
The amplitude of subthreshold phi-meson production is calculated using dominant tree-level diagrams for three-body collisions. It is shown that the production can overwhelmingly be described by two-step processes. The effect of the genuine three-body contribution (i.e. the contribution which cannot be factorized) is discussed. The production rate of phi-mesons is presented for proton induced reactions on carbon.
We have studied the neutron-capture reactions 8Li(n,gamma)9Li and its role in the primordial nucleosynthesis. The n + 8Li --> 9Li + gamma reaction has a significant astrophysical interest because it includes one of the variants of chain of primordial nucleosynthesis processes of the Universe and thermonuclear reactions in type II supernova.
Isospin equilibration in multi-fragmentation processes is studied for the system $^{40}Cl+^{28}Si$ at 40 MeV/nucleon. The investigation is performed through semiclassical microscopic many-body calculations based on the CoMD-II model. The study has been developed to describe isospin equilibration processes involving the gas and liquid "phases" of the total system formed in the collision processes. The investigation of the behavior of this observable in terms of the repulsive/attractive action of the symmetry term, highlights many-body correlations which are absent in semiclassical mean-field ap…
The exclusive processes 2H(e,e'p)n, 3He(e,e'p)^2H, and 3He(e,e'p)(pn), have been calculated using realistic few-body wave functions and treating final state interaction effects within a generalized eikonal approach.
Nuclear-powered X-ray millisecond pulsars are the third type of millisecond pulsars, which are powered by thermonuclear fusion processes. The corresponding brightness oscillations, known as burst oscillations, are observed during some thermonuclear X-ray bursts, when the burning and cooling accreted matter gives rise to an azimuthally asymmetric brightness pattern on the surface of the spinning neutron star. Apart from providing neutron star spin rates, this X-ray timing feature can be a useful tool to probe the fundamental physics of neutron star interior and surface. This chapter presents an…
The exclusive electro-disintegration processes 2H(e,e'p)n, 3He(e,e'p)2H, 3He(e,e'p)pn, 3He(e,e'pp)n and 4He(e,e'p)3H have been calculated using realistic few-body wave functions and treating final state interaction (FSI) effects within a generalized eikonal approach. The semi-inclusive scattering A(e,e'p)X off complex nuclei has been analyzed using many-body wave functions for 16O and 40Ca, obtained within the framework of a linked cluster expansion and taking FSI into account by a Glauber-type approach. The effect of color transparency has also been included by considering the Finite Formatio…
In this paper we develop an analytical model in order to study electromagnetic processes involving loosely bound neutron--rich and proton--rich nuclei. We construct a model wave function, to describe loosely bound few--body systems, having the correct behaviour both at large and small distances. The continuum states are approximated by regular Coulomb functions. As a test case we consider the two--body Coulomb dissociation of 8B and, the inverse, radiative capture reaction. The difference between using a pure two--body model and the results obtained when incorporating many--body effects, is in…
The book examines some of the questions of modern cosmology, the physics of atmospheric phenomena, the physics of quasi-particles and atomic nuclei in the Universe. It consists of three parts, each discusses the theoretical problems of various subjects of cosmic physics. The first part examines the physics of the expanding Universe, with emphasis on the content of the latest revolution in cosmology. It is today well established that the universe is dominated by a vacuum that exceeds the density of baryonic forms of cosmic matter, that the dynamics of the cosmic expansion controls the vacuum an…
Electron scattering from the three-nucleon bound state with two- and three-body disintegration is described. The description uses the purely nucleonic charge-dependent CD-Bonn potential and its coupled-channel extension CD-Bonn + $Δ$. Exact solutions of three-particle equations are employed for the initial and final states of the reactions. The current has one-baryon and two-baryon contributions and couples nucleonic with $Δ$-isobar channels. $Δ$-isobar effects on the observables are isolated. The $Δ$-isobar excitation yields an effective three-nucleon force and effective two- and three-nucleo…
We compare the coupled channels procedure to the semiclassical approach to describe two-body emission processes, in particular $α$-decay, from deformed nuclei within the propagator method. We express the scattering amplitudes in terms of a propagator matrix, describing the effect of the deformed field, multiplied by the ratio between internal wave function components and irregular Coulomb waves. In the spherical case the propagator becomes diagonal and scattering amplitudes acquire the well-known form. We describe a more rigorous formulation of the 3D semiclassical approach, corresponding to d…
A linked cluster expansion for the calculation of ground state observables of nuclei with realistic interactions has been developed. Using the V8' potential the ground state energy, density and momentum distribution of complex nuclei have been calculated and found to be in good agreement with the results obtained within the Fermi Hyper Netted Chain, and Variational Monte Carlo approaches. Using the same cluster expansion, with wave function and correlations parameters fixed from the calculation of the ground-state observables, various high energy scattering processes off complex nuclei have be…
The structure of the Borromean nucleus $^9$Be ($α+α+n$) is addressed within a three-body approach using the analytical transformed harmonic oscillator method. The three-body formalism provides an accurate description of the radiative capture reaction rate for the entire temperature range relevant in Astrophysics. At high temperatures, results match the calculations based on two-step sequential processes. At low temperatures, where the particles have no access to intermediate two-body resonances, the three-body direct capture leads to reaction rates larger than the sequential processes. These r…
We derive practical three-body equations for the equal-time three-body Green function in matter. Our equations describe both bosons and fermions at finite density and temperature, and take into account all possible two-body sub-processes allowed by the underlying Hamiltonian.
We formulate a method to compute breakup processes of three-body halo systems reacting with a target. The reaction between one of the particles and the target as well as the corresponding pairwise final state interactions are carefully treated. Both absorption and diffraction processes are included. Detailed differential and total cross sections are calculated for two-neutron (2n) removal from 6He by fragmentation on 12C. Effects due to the core shadowing are taken into account. Good agreement with available experimental data is obtained.
The asymptotic time derivative of the total dipole signal is proposed as an useful observable to study Isospin equilibration phenomenon in multi-fragmentation processes. We discuss a general formalism needed for a unified description of the weak and electromagnetic processes in nuclei which is based on the multipole decomposition of the hadronic currents. The use of harmonic oscillator single-particle basis, which is commonly employed in many-body nuclear calculations, simplifies the relevant expressions. We present analytic formulas for the corresponding radial integrals which enter the transition matrix elements of one-body operators in various semi-leptonic nuclear processes. As an example, we apply our formalism in order to simplify previous formalism givi…
We investigate the low-temperature reaction rates for radiative capture processes of three particles. We compare direct and sequential capture mechanisms and rates using realistic phenomenological parametrizations of the corresponding photodissociation cross sections.Energy conservation prohibits sequential capture for energies smaller than that of the intermediate two-body structure. A finite width or a finite temperature allows this capture mechanism. We study generic effects of positions and widths of two- and three-body resonances for very low temperatures. We focus on nuclear reactions re…

We present microscopic valence-shell calculations of pairing gaps in the calcium isotopes, focusing on the role of three-nucleon (3N) forces and many-body processes. In most cases, we find a reduction in pairing strength when the leading chiral 3N forces are included, compared to results with low-momentum two-nucleon (NN) interactions only. This is in agreement with a recent energy density functional study. At the NN level, calculations that include particle-particle and hole-hole ladder contributions lead to smaller pairing gaps compared with experiment. When particle-hole contributions as we…
In a recent theoretical work, Phys. Lett. B785, 112 (2018), we proposed that a $K^*$ resonance with hidden charm content arises from the $KD\bar D^*$ dynamics, where the $D\bar D^*$ system is treated as a $Z_c(3900)$ or $X(3872)$. With the motivation of determining its further properties, which can be observed in experiments, we now present a calculation of the decay processes of this $K^*$, namely $K^*(4307)$, to two-body channels. Particularly, we consider the decay channels $J/ψK^*(892)$, $\bar{D}D_s$, $\bar{D}D_s^*$ and $\bar{D}^* D_s^*$. The mechanisms of the decay to these channels invol…
Astrophysical S-factors of radiative capture reactions on light nuclei have been calculated in a two-cluster potential model, taking into account the separation of orbital states by the use of Young schemes. The local two-body potentials describing the interaction of the clusters were determined by fitting scattering data and properties of bound states. The many-body character of the problem is approximatively accounted for by Pauli forbidden states. An important feature of the approach is the consideration of the dependence of the interaction potential between the clusters on the orbital Youn…
Nuclear weak rates in stellar environments are obtained by shell-model calculations including Gamow-Teller (GT) and spin-dipole transitions, and applied to nuclear weak processes in stars. The important roles of accurate weak rates for the study of astrophysical processes are pointed out. The weak rates in $sd$-shell are used to study the evolution of ONeMg cores in stars with 8-10 M$_{\odot}$. Cooling of the core by nuclear Urca processes, and the heating by double e-captures on $^{20}$Ne are studied. Especially, the e-capture rates for a second-forbidden transition in $^{20}$Ne are evaluated…

The charged-current quasi-elastic (CCQE) scattering of muon neutrinos on a carbon target is analyzed using the relativistic distorted-wave impulse approximation (RDWIA) taking into account the contribution of the two-particle and two-hole meson exchange current ($2p-2h$ MEC) to the weak response functions. A fit the RDWIA+MEC model to the MiniBooNE neutrino data is performed and the best fit value of nucleon axial mass $M_A=1.2 \pm 0.06$ GeV is obtained. We also extract the values of the axial form factor $F_A(Q^2)$ as a function of the squared momentum transfer $Q^2$ from the measured $dσ/dQ^…
Transverse momentum spectra of direct (prompt) photons from two-body processes in high-energy proton-proton (p+p) collisions are analyzed in this paper. We collected the experimental invariant cross-sections at mid-rapidity in p+p collisions measured by the UA6, CCOR, R806, R110, PHENIX, NA24, CMS, ALICE, and ATLAS Collaborations over a center-of-mass energy range from 24.3 GeV to 13 TeV. In fitting the data, we used different kinds of functions which include the revised Tsallis--Pareto-type function (the TP-like function) at the particle level, the convolution of two TP-like functions at the …
The triple-αreaction rate is re-evaluated by directly solving the three-body Schrödinger equation. The resonant and nonresonant processes are treated on the same footing using the continuum-discretized coupled-channels method for three-body scattering. Accurate description of the α-αnonresonant states significantly quenches the Coulomb barrier between the two-α's and the third αparticle. Consequently, the α-αnonresonant continuum states below the resonance at 92.04 keV, i.e., the ground state of 8Be, give markedly larger contribution at low temperatures than in foregoing studies. We show that …
