The question of whether ultra-long GRBs form a population different from that of "regular" long GRBs has been much debated recently and during the conference. We discuss here the data and the evidence that lead to the conclusion that indeed ultra-long GRBs form a different class of high energy transients. The sample of ultra-long GRBs is still poor and the discussion on their origin remain opens, though they might be the signature of PopIII stars. We urge that the design of new instrumentation, such as the SVOM satellite, takes into account the need for the detection of distant ultra-long GRBs.

We review the T_90 duration and hardness ratio of Swift Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs). We focus on GRBs with known redshift and review their gamma properties in the GRBs rest frames. We find that GRBs number vs. T_90/(1+z) distribution shows a separation between two classes at 0.65 s. Furthermore, we find that the difference in hardness ratio between short and long bursts is not very pronounced and depends on energy channels used for comparison.

Using Gaussian Mixture Model and Expectation Maximization algorithm, we have performed a density estimation in the framework of $T_{90}$ versus hardness ratio for 296 Swift/BAT GRBs with known redshift. Here, Bayesian Information Criterion has been taken to compare different models. Our investigations show that two instead of three or more Gaussian components are favoured in both the observer and rest frames. Our key findings are consistent with some previous results.
The Fermi Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM) onboard the Fermi spacecraft currently operates on several trigger algorithms on various time scales and energy ranges. Motivated by the pursuit of faint Gamma-Ray Bursts (e.g. the elusive class of postulated low-luminosity GRBs), here we present the search for untriggered GRBs in the GBM data stream. We use a sample of \textit{Swift} gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) to analyze the Amati and Yonetoku correlations. The first relation is between $E_{p,i}$, the intrinsic peak energy of the prompt GRB emission, and $E_{iso}$, the equivalent isotropic energy. The second relation is between $E_{p,i}$ and $L_{iso}$, the isotropic peak luminosity. We select a sample of 71 \textit{Swift} GRBs that have a measured redshift and whose observed $E^{obs}_p$ is within the interval of energy 15-150 keV with a relative uncertainty of less than 70\%. We present the discovery of two distinct classes in the Swift short duration gamma-ray bursts (S-GRBs) from the X-Ray Telescope (XRT) X-ray afterglow light curve. We find that about 40% of the Swift S-GRBs have an X-ray afterglow light curves which only lasts less than 10000 seconds after the burst trigger (hereafter short-lived S-GRBs). On the other hand, another 60% of S-GRBs have a long lasting X-ray afterglow light curve which resembles the long duration gamma-ray bursts. We present a comprehensive statistical analysis of Swift X-ray light-curves of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs), with more than 650 GRBs. Two questions drive this effort: (1) Does the X-ray emission retain any kind of memory of the prompt phase? (2) Where is the dividing line between long and short GRBs? We show that short GRBs decay faster, are less luminous and less energetic than long GRBs, but are interestingly characterized by very similar intrinsic absorption. However, their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) appear to be very similar showing a curved shape. In 1993 Band et al. proposed a phenomenological description of the integrated spectral shape for the GRB prompt emission, the so called Band function. We build a comprehensive sample to statistically describe the properties of X-ray flashes (XRFs) and X-ray riches (XRRs) from the latest third Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT3) catalog of Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We obtain 81 XRFs, 540 XRRs, and 394 classical GRBs (C-GRBs). We statistically explore the different properties of the $γ$-ray prompt emission, the X-ray emission, the X-ray lightcurve type, the association with supernovae (SNe), and the host galaxy properties for these sources. The complex structure of the light curves of Swift GRBs has made their interpretation and that of the blast wave caused by the burst, more difficult than in the pre-Swift era. We aim to constrain the blast wave parameters: electron energy distribution, p, density profile of the circumburst medium, k, and the continued energy injection index, q. A sample of 286 gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) detected by the Swift satellite and 358 GRBs detected by the RHESSI satellite are studied statistically. Previously published articles, based on the BATSE GRB Catalog, claimed the existence of an intermediate subgroup of GRBs with respect to duration. We use the statistical chi^2 test and the F-test to compare the number of GRB subgroups in our databases with the earlier BATSE results. The measured redshifts of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), which were first detected by the Swift satellite, seem to be bigger on average than the redshifts of GRBs detected by other satellites. We analyzed the redshift distribution of GRBs triggered and observed by different satellites (Swift[1], HETE2[2], BeppoSax, Ulyssses). After considering the possible biases significant difference was found at the p = 95.70% level in the redshift distributions of GRBs measured by HETE and the Swift.
Some short GRBs are followed by longer extended emission, lasting anywhere from ~10 to ~100 s. These short GRBs with extended emission (EE) can possess observational characteristics of both short and long GRBs (as represented by GRB 060614), and the traditional classification based on the observed duration places some of them in the long GRB class. While GRBs with EE pose a challenge to the compact binary merger scenario, they may therefore provide an important link between short and long duration events. A complete sample of bright Swift Gamma-ray Bursts (GRBs) has been recently selected by Salvaterra et al. (2011). The sample has a high level of completeness in redshift (91%). We derive here the intrinsic absorbing X-ray column densities of these GRBs making use of the Swift X-ray Telescope data. This distribution has a mean value of log(NH/cm-2)=21.7+-0.5. This value is consistent with the distribution of the column densities derived from the total sample of GRBs with redshift. We find a mild increase of the intrinsic column density with redshift. In several gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) excess emission, in addition to the standard synchrotron afterglow spectrum, has been discovered in the early time X-ray observations. It has been proposed that this excess comes from black body emission, which may be related to the shock break-out of a supernova in the GRBs progenitor star. We explore the potential of INTEGRAL to improve our understanding of the low fluence regime for explosive transients, such as GRBs. We probe the nature of the so-called "WEAK" INTEGRAL triggers, when the gamma-ray instruments record intensity spikes that are below the usual STRONG significance thresholds. In a targeted Swift follow-up campaign, we observed 15 WEAK triggers. We find six of these can be classified as GRBs. This includes GRB150305A, a GRB discovered from our campaign alone. We jointly analyze the gamma-ray burst (GRB) data observed with BAT and XRT on board the Swift mission to present a global view on the internal energy dissipation processes in GRBs, including precursors, prompt gamma-ray emission, extended soft gamma-ray emission, and late X-ray flares. Timing analysis is a powerful tool with which to shed light on the still obscure emission physics and geometry of the prompt emission of GRBs. Fourier power density spectra (PDS) characterise time series as stochastic processes and can be used to search for coherent pulsations and to investigate the dominant variability timescales. We use a wavelet technique to investigate the time variations in the light curves from a sample of GRBs detected by Fermi and Swift. We focus primarily on the behavior of the flaring region of Swift-XRT light curves in order to explore connections between variability time scales and pulse parameters (such as rise and decay times, widths, strengths, and separation distributions) and spectral lags. Tight correlations between some of these temporal features suggest a common origin for the production of X-ray flares and the prompt emission.
The central engine of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) is poorly constrained. There exist two main candidates: a fast-rotating black hole and a rapidly spinning magnetar. Furthermore, the X-ray plateaus are widely accepted by the energy injection into the external shock. In this paper, we systematically analyze the \emph{Swift}/XRT light curves of 101 GRBs having plateau phases and known redshifts (before May 2017). I have used a sample of long Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) common to both \emph{Swift} and \emph{Fermi} to re-derive the parameters of the Yonetoku correlation. This allowed me to self-consistently estimate pseudo redshifts of all the bursts with unknown redshifts. This is the first time such a large sample of GRBs from these two instruments are used, both individually and in conjunction, to model the long GRB luminosity function. Using Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) and Expectation Maximization Algorithm, we perform an analysis of time duration ($T_{90}$) for \textit{CGRO}/BATSE, \textit{Swift}/BAT and \textit{Fermi}/GBM Gamma-Ray Bursts. The $T_{90}$ distributions of 298 redshift-known \textit{Swift}/BAT GRBs have also been studied in both observer and rest frames. Bayesian Information Criterion has been used to compare between different GMM models. The dissipation process of GRB prompt emission is still unknown. Study of temporal variability may provide a unique way to discriminate the imprint of the inner engine activity from geometry and propagation related effects. From a comprehensive statistical analysis of $Swift$ X-ray light-curves of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) collected from December 2004 to the end of 2010, we found a three-parameter correlation between the isotropic energy emitted in the rest frame 1-10$^4$ keV energy band during the prompt emission (E$_{\rm{γ,iso}}$), the rest frame peak of the prompt emission energy spectrum (E$_{\rm{pk}}$), and the X-ray energy emitted in the rest frame 0.3-30 keV observed energy band (E$_{\rm{X,iso}}$), computed excluding the contribution of the flares.
