On the complexity of non-orientable Seifert fibre spaces

In this paper we deal with Seifert fibre spaces, which are compact 3-manifolds admitting a foliation by circles. We give a combinatorial description for these manifolds in all the possible cases: orientable, non-orientable, closed, with boundary. Moreover, we compute a potentially sharp upper bound for their complexity in terms of the invariants of the combinatorial description, extending to the non-orientable case results by Fominykh and Wiest for the orientable case with boundary and by Martelli and Petronio for the closed orientable case.

Nonorientable 3-manifolds admitting coloured triangulations with at most 30 tetrahedra

We present the census of all non-orientable, closed, connected 3-manifolds admitting a rigid crystallization with at most 30 vertices. In order to obtain the above result, we generate, manipulate and compare, by suitable computer procedures, all rigid non-bipartite crystallizations up to 30 vertices.

The linking pairings of orientable Seifert manifolds

We compute the $p$-primary components of the linking pairings of orientable 3-manifolds admitting a fixed-point free $S^1$-action. Using this, we show that any non-singular linking pairing on a finite abelian group with homogeneous 2-primary summand is realized by such a manifold. However, some pairings on inhomogeneous 2-groups are not realizable by any Seifert fibred 3-manifold.

A catalogue of orientable 3-manifolds triangulated by 30 coloured tetrahedra

The present paper follows the computational approach to 3-manifold classification via edge-coloured graphs, already performed by several authors with respect to orientable 3-manifolds up to 28 coloured tetrahedra, non-orientable 3-manifolds up to 26 coloured tetrahedra, genus two 3-manifolds up to 34 coloured tetrahedra: in fact, by automatic generation and analysis of suitable edge-coloured graphs, called crystallizations, we obtain a catalogue of all orientable 3-manifolds admitting coloured triangulations with 30 tetrahedra. From the view of Heegaard splitting, it is known that if a closed orientable 3-manifold admits a distance at least three Heegaard splitting, then it is hyperbolic. However, for a closed orientable 3-manifold admitting only distance at most two Heegaard splittings, there are examples shows that it could be reducible, Seifert, toroidal or hyperbolic. According to Thurston's Geometrization conjecture, the most important piece of eight geometries is hyperbolic.
