We investigate the effect of next nearest-neighbour hopping on the zero temperature Drude weight or superfluidity in mesoscopic one-dimensional systems of (a) single particle with quasidisorder (Aubry-André model) and (b) hardcore bosons with nearest-neighbour interaction. We show that there is an interaction-induced enhancement of the Drude weight when the next nearest-neighbour hopping is frustrated for the many-body system. The observed non-monotonic behaviour of the Drude weight occurs because the repulsive interactions first suppress the frustration in the system, leading to a rise in the Drude weight, whereas at much larger interaction strengths the charge density wave fluctuations set in the insulator and the Drude weight drops. The present work reveals a novel scenario in which a persistent flow enhancement is plausible in the presence of kinetic frustration and repulsive interactions.
We analyze the Drude weight for both spin and thermal transport of one-dimensional spin-1/2 systems by means of exact diagonalization at finite temperatures. While the Drude weights are non-zero for finite systems, we find indications of a vanishing of the Drude weights in the thermodynamic limit for non-integrable models implying normal transport behavior.
To clarify the transport property mediated by bound magnons in a spin nematic state, we investigate the spin Drude weight of a spin-1/2 $J_{1}$-$J_{2}$ Heisenberg chain with ferromagnetic $J_{1}$ and antiferromagnetic $J_{2}$ in a magnetic field by numerical diagonalization. At zero magnetic field, numerical results with up to 24 sites suggest that the spin Drude weight would be zero in the thermodynamic limit, indicating diffusive spin transport. With increasing the magnetic field, the spin Drude weight is enhanced at low temperatures, indicating that bound magnons would contribute to the spi…
We investigated optical spectra of quasi-two-dimensional multi-band Ca$% _{2-x} $Sr$_{x}$RuO$_{4}$ systems. The extended Drude model analysis on the ab-plane optical conductivity spectra indicates that the effective mass should be enhanced near $x=0.5$. Based on the sum rule argument, we showed that the orbital-selective Mott-gap opening for the $d_{yz/zx}$ bands, the widely investigated picture, could not be the origin of the mass enhancement. We exploited the multi-band effects in the extended Drude model analysis, and demonstrated that the intriguing heavy mass state near $x=0.5$ should com…
We study the response to an applied flux of an interacting system of Dirac-Weyl fermions confined in a one-dimensional (1D) ring. Combining analytical calculations with density-matrix renormalization group results, we show that tuning of interactions leads to a unique many-body system that displays either a suppression or an enhancement of the Drude weight - the zero-frequency peak in the ac conductivity - with respect to the non-interacting value. An asymmetry in the interaction strength between same- and different-pseudospin Dirac-Weyl fermions leads to Drude weight enhancement. Viceversa, s…
We report a detailed analysis of the Drude weights for both thermal and spin transport in one dimensional spin-1/2 systems by means of exact diagonalization and analytic approaches at finite temperatures. Transport properties are studied first for the integrable XXZ model and second for various non-integrable systems such as the dimerized chain, the frustrated chain, and the spin ladder. We compare our results obtained by exact diagonalization and mean-field theory with the Bethe ansatz, bosonization and other numerical studies in the case of the anisotropic Heisenberg model both in the gaples…

We study the transport properties of frustrated itinerant magnets comprising localized {\it classical} moments, which interact via exchange with the conduction electrons. Strong frustration stabilizes a liquidlike spin state, which extends down to temperatures well below the effective Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction scale. The crossover into this state is characterized by spin structure factor enhancement at wave vectors smaller than twice the Fermi wave vector magnitude. The corresponding enhancement of electron scattering generates a resistivity upturn at decreasing temperatures.
We systematically studied in-plane optical conductivity of FeSe$_{1-x}$Te$_{x}$ thin films fabricated on CaF$_{2}$ substrates for $x$ = 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4. This system shows a large enhancement of superconducting transition temperature $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ at $x \sim$ 0.2 and a gentle decrease in $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ with further increasing $x$. The low-energy optical conductivity spectrum is described by the sum of narrow and broad Drude components, associated with coherent and incoherent charge dynamics, respectively. With increasing Te content, the spectral weight of the narrow Drude component de…
We report a comprehensive THz, infrared and optical study of Nb doped SrTiO3 as well as DC conductivity and Hall effect measurements. Our THz spectra at 7K show the presence of a very narrow (<2 meV) Drude peak, the spectral weight of which shows approximately a factor of three enhancement of the band mass for all carrier concentrations. The missing spectral weight is regained in a broad 'mid-infrared' band which originates from electron-phonon coupling. We find no evidence of a particularly large electron-phonon coupling that would result in small polaron formation. Analysis of the results yi…
We study the low-energy properties and, in particular, the magnetization process of a spin-1/2 Heisenberg $J_1-J_2$ sawtooth and frustrated chain (also known as zig-zag ladder) with a spatially anisotropic $g$-factor. We treat the problem both analytically and numerically while keeping the $J_2/J_1$ ratio generic. Numerically, we use complete and Lanczos diagonalization as well as the infinite time-evolving block decimation (iTEBD) method. Analytically we employ (non-)Abelian bosonization. Additionally for the sawtooth chain, we provide an analytical description in terms of flat bands and loca…
A necessary condition for superconductivity (SC) driven by electron correlations is that electron-electron (e-e) interactions enhance superconducting pair-pair correlations, relative to the noninteracting limit. We report high-precision numerical calculations of the ground state within the frustrated two-dimensional (2D) Hubbard Hamiltonian for a wide range of carrier concentration $ρ$ (0 < $ρ$ <1) per site. We find that long range superconducting pair correlations are enhanced only for $ρ$ $\simeq$ 0.5. At all other fillings e-e interactions mostly suppress pair correlations. The enhancement …
We present the results of Quantum Monte Carlo calculations for a two dimensional frustrated Hubbard model coupled to bond phonons. The model is known to have a d-wave superconducting ground state in the limit of large phonon frequency for sufficiently strong electron-phonon coupling. In the absence of electron-phonon coupling the Hubbard interaction U enhances superconducting pairing in the quarter-filled (density $ρ$ = 0.5) band. We show here that at $ρ$ = 0.5 electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions cooperatively reinforce d-wave pairing, while competing with each other at all othe…

Small Drude weight $D$ together with small specific heat coefficient $γ$ observed in the ferromagnetic phase of R$_{1-x}$A$_x$MnO$_3$ (R=La, Pr, Nd, Sm; A=Ca, Sr, Ba) are analyzed in terms of a proximity effect of the Mott insulator. The scaling theory for the metal-insulator transition with the critical enhancement of orbital correlations toward the staggered ordering of two $e_g$ orbitals such as $3x^2-r^2$ and $3y^2-r^2$ symmetries may lead to the critical exponents of $D \propto δ^{u}$ and $γ\propto δ^v$ with $u=3/2$ and $v=0$. The result agrees with the experimental indications.
