The hypermetric cone on $8$ vertices and some generalizations

The lists of facets -- $298,592$ in $86$ orbits -- and of extreme rays -- $242,695,427$ in $9,003$ orbits -- of the hypermetric cone $HYP_8$ are computed. The first generalization considered is the hypermetric polytope $HYPP_n$ for which we give general algorithms and a description for $n\le 8$. Then we shortly consider generalizations to simplices of volume higher than $1$, hypermetric on graphs and infinite dimensional hypermetrics.

Cones of weighted quasi-metrics, weighted quasi-hypermetrics and of oriented cuts

We show that the cone of weighted n-point quasi-metrics WQMet_n, the cone of weighted quasi-hypermetrics WHyp_n and the cone of oriented cuts OCut_n are projec- tions along an extreme ray of the metric cone Metn+1, of the hypermetric cone Hypn+1 and of the cut cone Cut_{n+1}, respectively. This projection is such that if one knows all faces of an original cone then one knows all faces of the projected cone.

The hypermetric cone on seven vertices

The hypermetric cone $HYP_n$ is the set of vectors $(d_{ij})_{1\leq i< j\leq n}$ satisfying the inequalities $\sum_{1\leq i<j\leq n} b_ib_jd_{ij}\leq 0 with b_i\in\Z and \sum_{i=1}^{n}b_i=1$. The decomposition of the hypermetric cone into L-domains

The hypermetric cone $\HYP_{n+1}$ is the parameter space of basic Delaunay polytopes in n-dimensional lattice. The cone $\HYP_{n+1}$ is polyhedral; one way of seeing this is that modulo image by the covariance map $\HYP_{n+1}$ is a finite union of L-domains, i.e., of parameter space of full Delaunay tessellations. In this paper, we study this partition of the hypermetric cone into L-domains. In particular, it is proved that the cone $\HYP_{n+1}$ of hypermetrics on n+1 points contains exactly {1/2}n! principal L-domains. The isometries of the cut, metric and hypermetric cones

We show that the symmetry groups of the cut cone Cut(n) and the metric cone Met(n) both consist of the isometries induced by the permutations on {1,...,n}; that is, Is(Cut(n))=Is(Met(n))=Sym(n) for n>4. For n=4 we have Is(Cut(4))=Is(Met(4))=Sym(3)xSym(4). This is then extended to cones containing the cuts as extreme rays and for which the triangle inequalities are facet-inducing. For instance, Is(Hyp(n))=Sym(n) for n>4, where Hyp(n) denotes the hypermetric cone.

Adjacency method for extreme Delaunay polytopes

The {\em hypermetric cone} is defined as the cone of semimetrics satisfying the {\em hypermetric inequalities}. Every {\em Delaunay polytope} corresponds to a ray of this polyhedral cone. The Delaunay polytopes, which correspond to extreme rays are called {\em extreme}. We use this polyhedral cone and the {\em closest vector problem} to present a new technique that allow to find, from a given extreme Delaunay polytope, some new ones. Then, we show some examples of applications of this technique in low-dimensions.

Algebraic vertices of non-convex polyhedra

In this article we define an algebraic vertex of a generalized polyhedron and show that it is the smallest set of points needed to define the polyhedron. We prove that the indicator function of a generalized polytope $P$ is a linear combination of indicator functions of simplices whose vertices are algebraic vertices of $P$. We also show that the indicator function of any generalized polyhedron is a linear combination, with integer coefficients, of indicator functions of cones with apices at algebraic vertices and line-cones. Examples of infinitesimally flexible 3--dimensional hyperbolic cone-manifolds

Weiss and, independently, Mazzeo and Montcouquiol recently proved that a 3--dimensional hyperbolic cone-manifold (possibly with vertices) with all cone angles less than $2π$ is infinitesimally rigid. On the isotropic constant of random polytopes with vertices on an $\ell_p$-sphere

The symmetric convex hull of random points that are independent and distributed according to the cone probability measure on the $\ell_p$-unit sphere of $\mathbb R^n$ for some $1\leq p < \infty$ is considered. We prove that these random polytopes have uniformly absolutely bounded isotropic constants with overwhelming probability. This generalizes the result for the Euclidean sphere ($p=2$) obtained by D. The isotropic constant of random polytopes with vertices on convex surfaces

For an isotropic convex body $K\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ we consider the isotropic constant $L_{K_N}$ of the symmetric random polytope $K_N$ generated by $N$ independent random points which are distributed according to the cone probability measure on the boundary of $K$. We show that with overwhelming probability $L_{K_N}\leq C\sqrt{\log(2N/n)}$, where $C\in(0,\infty)$ is an absolute constant. If $K$ is unconditional we argue that even $L_{K_N}\leq C$ with overwhelming probability. Vertices of Spectrahedra arising from the Elliptope, the Theta Body, and Their Relatives

Utilizing dual descriptions of the normal cone of convex optimization problems in conic form, we characterize the vertices of semidefinite representations arising from Lovász theta body, generalizations of the elliptope, and related convex sets. Our results generalize vertex characterizations due to Laurent and Poljak from the 1990's. Our approach also leads us to nice characterizations of strict complementarity and to connections with some of the related literature.
