We investigate the prospects of indirect and direct dark matter searches within the minimal supersymmetric standard model with nine parameters (MSSM-9). These nine parameters include three gaugino masses, Higgs, slepton and squark masses, all treated independently. We perform a Bayesian Monte Carlo scan of the parameter space taking into consideration all available particle physics constraints such as the Higgs mass of 126 GeV, upper limits on the scattering cross-section from direct-detection experiments, and assuming that the MSSM-9 provides all the dark matter abundance through thermal freeze-out mechanism. Within this framework we find two most probable regions for dark matter: 1-TeV higgsino-like and 3-TeV wino-like neutralinos. We discuss prospects for future indirect (in particular the Cherenkov Telescope Array, CTA) and direct detection experiments. We find that for slightly contracted dark matter profiles in our Galaxy, which can be caused by the effects of baryonic infall in the Galactic center, CTA will be able to probe a large fraction of the remaining allowed region in synergy with future direct detection experiments like XENON-1T.
Recently, a claim of possible evidence for Dark Matter in data from the Fermi LAT experiment was made by Goodenough and Hooper [8]. We test the Dark Matter properties consistent with their claim in terms of the MSSM by a 24-dimensional parameter scan using nested sampling, excluding all but a very small region of the MSSM. Although this claim is very preliminary, and not made by the Fermi LAT experiment, our scan shows a possible approach for the analysis of future firm evidence from an indirect detection experiment, and its potential for heavily constraining models.
In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), the bottom Yukawa coupling of the Higgs boson can considerably deviate from its Standard Model prediction due to non-decoupling effects. We point out that the ratio of the Higgs boson decay branching fraction to a bottom quark pair and that to a $W$-boson pair from the same production channel is particularly sensitive to large additional MSSM Higgs boson mass regions at future electron-positron colliders. Based on this precision measurement, we explicitly show the indirect discovery reach of the additional Higgs bosons according to planned p…
We study the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with minimal flavor violation (MFV), imposing constraints from flavor physics observables and MSSM Higgs searches, in light of the recent discovery of a 125 GeV Higgs boson by ATLAS and CMS. We analyze the electroweak vacuum stability conditions to further restrict the MSSM parameter space. In addition, a connection to ultraviolet physics is shown via an implementation of renormalization group running, which determines the TeV-scale spectrum from a small set of minimal supergravity parameters. Finally, we investigate the impact from dar…
We analyze the Tevatron reach for neutral Higgs bosons in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), using current exclusion limits on the Standard Model Higgs. We study four common benchmark scenarios for the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the MSSM, including cases where the Higgs decays differ significantly from the Standard Model, and provide projections for the improvements in luminosity and efficiency required for the Tevatron to probe sizeable regions of the $(m_A, \tanβ)$ plane.
Searches for Beyond the Standard Model Higgs processes in the context of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and Next to MSSM are presented. The results are based on the first LHC run of pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of about 5 and 20 fb$^{-1}$ respectively. Current searches constrain large parts of the parameter space. No evidence for BSM Higgs is found.
The pseudoscalar resonance or "A-funnel" in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model~(MSSM) is a widely studied framework for explaining dark matter that can yield interesting indirect detection and collider signals. The well-known Galactic Center excess (GCE) at GeV energies in the gamma ray spectrum, consistent with annihilation of a $\lesssim 40$ GeV dark matter particle, has more recently been shown to be compatible with significantly heavier masses following reanalysis of the background. In this paper, we explore the LHC and direct detection implications of interpreting the GCE in this e…
We study observational consequences arising from dark matter (DM) of non-thermal origin, produced by dark freeze-out from a hidden sector heat bath. We assume this heat bath was populated by feebly-coupled mediator particles, produced via a Higgs portal interaction with the Standard Model (SM). The dark sector then attained internal equilibrium with a characteristic temperature different from the SM photon temperature. We find that even if the coupling between the DM and the SM sectors is very weak, the scenario allows for indirect observational signals. We show how the expected strength of th…
An introduction to the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is given. The motivation for ``low-energy'' supersymmetry is reviewed, and the structure of the MSSM is outlined. In its most general form, the MSSM can be viewed as a low-energy effective theory parametrized by a set of arbitrary soft-supersymmetry-breaking parameters. A variety of techniques for reducing the parameter freedom of the MSSM are surveyed. The search for supersymmetry below and above the threshold for supersymmetric particle production presents a challenging task for experimentalists at present and future collide…
We present an overview of direct and indirect constraints in the MSSM, in CP-conserving and CP-violating MSSM scenarios, with some emphasis on the importance of combining the constraints from different sectors, namely SUSY and Higgs direct searches at the LHC, flavour physics, dark matter and electric dipole moments.
We analyze the Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) reach for the Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) in the presence of explicit CP-violation. Using the most recent studies from the Tevatron and LHC collaborations, we examine the CPX benchmark scenario for a range of CP-violating phases in the soft trilinear and gluino mass terms and compute the exclusion/discovery potentials for each collider on the $(M_{H^+}, \tanβ)$ plane. Projected results from Standard Model (SM)-like, non-standard, and charged Higgs searches are combined to maximize the statistical signi…
We review the current best fit values of Higgs boson masses in the Standard Model (SM) and its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) obtained from existing experimental data. We also review the parameters space of the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) and the non-universal Higgs mass model (NUHM1) currently preferred by precision data. Following a Frequentist approach, the experimental data includes electroweak precision observables, B physics observables and the relic density of cold dark matter.
A Bose-Einstein condensate of the hexaquark particle known as d$^*$(2380) has been recently proposed as a dark matter candidate by the authors in Bashkanov \& Watts 2020. This particle can produced in an abundant condensate state in the early universe and is argued to satisfy all the stability and weak interaction constraints of a viable dark matter candidate. This dark matter candidate is able to evade direct detection bounds and is suggested to have the best observational prospects in the form of indirect astrophysical emissions due to the decay of the d$^*$ condensate. In this work we test …
We discuss the prospects for detecting supersymmetric particles in variants of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), in light of laboratory and cosmological constraints. We first assume that the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is the lightest neutralino chi, and present scatter plots of the masses of the two lightest visible supersymmetric particles when the input scalar and gaugino masses are constrained to be universal (CMSSM), when the input Higgs scalar masses are non-universal (NUHM), and when the squark and slepton masses are also non-universal and the…
We study how the kinetic decoupling of dark matter (DM) within a minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model, by adopting nine independent parameters (MSSM-9), could improve our knowledge of the properties of the DM protohalos. We show that the most probable neutralino mass regions, which satisfy the relic density and the Higgs mass contraints, are those with the lightest supersymmetric neutralino mass around 1 TeV and 3 TeV, corresponding to Higgsino-like and Wino-like neutralino, respectively. The kinetic decoupling temperature in the MSSM-9 scenario leads to a most probable proto…
In the framework of the Constrained MSSM we derive the most probable ranges of the diffuse gamma radiation flux from the direction of the Galactic center and of the positron flux from the Galactic halo due to neutralino dark matter annihilation. We find that, for a given halo model, and assuming flat priors, the 68% probability range of the integrated gamma-ray flux spans about one order of magnitude, while the 95% probability range can be much larger and extend over four orders of magnitude (even exceeding five for a tiny region at small neutralino mass). The detectability of the signal by GL…
Experimental collaborations for the large hadron collider conducted many and various searches for supersymmetry. In the absence of signals, lower limits were put on sparticle masses but usually within frameworks with (over-) simplifications relative to the entire indications by supersymmetry models. For complementing current interpretations of experimental bounds, we introduce a 30-parameters version of the R-parity conserving minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM-30). Using a sample of the MSSM-30 which are in harmony with cold dark matter, flavour and precision electroweak constraints,…
We analyze the prospects for detecting the three neutral Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model in the intense-coupling regime at e+e- colliders. Due to the small mass differences between the Higgs states in this regime and their relative large total decay widths, the discrimination between the particles is challenging at the LHC and in some cases even impossible. We propose to use the missing mass technique in the Higgs-strahlung process in e+e- collisions to distinguish between the two CP-even Higgs eigenstates h and H, relying on their b b-bar decay in th…
Searches for supersymmetry are among the most exciting physics goals at Run II of the Tevatron. In particular, in supersymmetric models with light charginos, neutralinos and sleptons, associated chargino--neutralino production can potentially be observed as multi-lepton events with missing energy. We discuss how, in the generic TeV-scale MSSM, the prospects for these chargino-neutralino searches are impacted by cosmological considerations, namely the neutralino relic abundance and direct detection limits. We also discuss what an observation of chargino-neutralino production at the Tevatron wou…
We study the prospects for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) to find new dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the Milky Way. Adopting models of Milky-Way halo substructure and phenomenological prescriptions connecting subhalos and satellite galaxies, we obtain surface brightness distributions of $V$-band magnitude that lead us to predict that LSST will discover tens to hundreds of dwarf spheroidal galaxies above its sensitivity. The soon-to-be-discovered dwarfs will be interesting targets for indirect searches of dark matter annihilation yields. We forecast the distribution function of gamma-…
We discuss the phenomenology of charged Higgs bosons in the MSSM with minimal flavor violation. In addition to the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) with universal soft supersymmetry breaking mass parameters at the GUT scale, we explore non-universal Higgs mass models (NUHM) where this universality condition is relaxed. To identify the allowed parameter space regions, we apply constraints from direct searches, low energy observables, and cosmology. We find that values of the charged Higgs mass as low as $m_{H^+}\simeq~135$ GeV can be accommodated in the NUHM models, but that several flavor physics obse…
We confront the signals expected from unstable gravitino dark matter with observations of indirect dark matter detection experiments in all possible cosmic-ray channels. For this purpose we calculate in detail the gravitino decay widths in theories with bilinear violation of R parity, particularly focusing on decay channels with three particles in the final state. Based on these calculations we predict the fluxes of gamma rays, charged cosmic rays and neutrinos expected from decays of gravitino dark matter. Although the predicted spectra could in principal explain the anomalies observed in the…
A degenerate sfermionic particle spectrum can escape constraints from flavor physics, and at the same time evade the limits from the direct searches if the degeneracy extends to the gaugino-higgsino sector. Inspired by this, we consider a scenario where all the soft terms have an approximately common mass scale at $M_{\text{SUSY}}$, with splittings $\lesssim \mathcal{O}(10\%)$. As a result, the third generation sfermions have large to maximal (left-right) mixing, the same being the case with charginos and some sectors of the neutralino mass matrix. We study this scenario in the light of discov…
MSSM4G models, in which the minimal supersymmetric standard model is extended to include vector-like copies of standard model particles, are promising possibilities for weak-scale supersymmetry. In particular, two models, called QUE and QDEE, realize the major virtues of supersymmetry (naturalness consistent with the 125 GeV Higgs boson, gauge coupling unification, and thermal relic neutralino dark matter) without the need for fine-tuned relations between particle masses. We determine the implications of these models for dark matter and collider searches. The QUE and QDEE models revive the pos…
We supplement the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with vector-like copies of standard model particles. Such 4th generation particles can raise the Higgs boson mass to the observed value without requiring very heavy superpartners, improving naturalness and the prospects for discovering supersymmetry at the LHC. Here we show that these new particles are also motivated cosmologically: in the MSSM, pure Bino dark matter typically overcloses the Universe, but 4th generation particles open up new annihilation channels, allowing Binos to have the correct thermal relic density without res…
We determine the prospects for direct and indirect detection of thermal relic neutralinos in supersymmetric theories with multi-TeV squarks and sleptons. We consider the concrete example of the focus point region of minimal supergravity, but our results are generically valid for all models with decoupled scalars and mixed Bino-Higgsino or Higgsino-like dark matter. We determine the parameter space consistent with a 125 GeV Higgs boson including 3-loop corrections in the calculation of the Higgs mass. These corrections increase m_h by 1-3 GeV, lowering the preferred scalar mass scale and decrea…
We consider both velocity-dependent and velocity-independent contributions to spin-dependent (SD) and spin-independent (SI) nuclear scattering (including one-loop corrections) of WIMPless dark matter, in the case where the dark matter candidate is a Majorana fermion. We find that spin-independent scattering arises only from the mixing of exotic squarks, or from velocity-dependent terms. Nevertheless (and contrary to the case of MSSM neutralino WIMPs), we find a class of models which cannot be detected through SI scattering, but can be detected at IceCube/DeepCore through SD scattering. We stud…
We discuss the prospects for observing CP violation in the MSSM with six CP-violating phases, using a geometric approach to maximise CP-violating observables subject to the experimental upper bounds on electric dipole moments. We consider constraints from Higgs physics, flavour physics, the dark matter relic density and spin-independent scattering cross section with matter.
We examine the capabilities of planned direct detection, indirect detection, and collider experiments in exploring the 19-parameter p(henomenological)MSSM, focusing on the complementarity between the different search techniques. In particular, we consider dark matter searches at the 7, 8 (and eventually 14) TeV LHC, \Fermi, CTA, IceCube/DeepCore, and LZ. We see that the search sensitivities depend strongly on the WIMP mass and annihilation mechanism, with the result that different search techniques explore orthogonal territory. We also show that advances in each technique are necessary to full…
We explore the prospects for indirect detection of neutralino dark matter in supersymmetric models with an extended Higgs sector (NMSSM). We compute, for the first time, one-loop amplitudes for NMSSM neutralino pair annihilation into two photons and two gluons, and point out that extra diagrams (with respect to the MSSM), featuring a potentially light CP-odd Higgs boson exchange, can strongly enhance these radiative modes. Expected signals in neutrino telescopes due to the annihilation of relic neutralinos in the Sun and in the Earth are evaluated, as well as the prospects of detection of a ne…
Indirect dark matter searches are briefly reviewed. Current experimental data from satellites and Cherenkov telescopes searching for antimatter and gamma rays in galactic and extragalactic regions, are compared with predictions from theoretical models of dark matter. The analysis is focused on WIMPs such as the neutralino and the sneutrino, and a superWIMP such as the gravitino, in several interesting supersymmetric models. In particular, the discussion is carried out in the context of R-parity conserving models such as the MSSM, the NMSSM, and an extended NMSSM, and the R-parity violating mod…
Three dark matter direct detection experiments, DAMA, COGENT and CRESST, have reported a possible signal of WIMP interaction corresponding to very light particles, close to the edge of the XENON 100 and CDMS sensitivity. Imposing the latest constraints from colliders, flavour physics, electroweak precision tests and direct and indirect dark matter searches, we show that viable MSSM scenarios with a light neutralino, in agreement with all the present data, are feasible. An analysis of the characteristics of the resulting scenarios will be presented.
The self-annihilation of dark matter particles with mass in the MeV range can produce gamma rays via prompt or secondary radiation. The annihilation rate for such light dark matter particles is however tightly constrained by cosmic microwave background (CMB) data. Here we explore the possibility of discovering MeV dark matter annihilation with future MeV gamma-ray telescopes taking into account the latest and future CMB constraints. We study the optimal energy window as a function of the dominant annihilation final state. We consider both the (conservative) case of the dwarf spheroidal galaxy …
The addition of non-renormalizable terms involving the Higgs fields to the MSSM ameliorates the little hierarchy problem of the MSSM. For neutralino dark matter, new regions for which the relic abundance of the LSP is consistent with WMAP (as the bulk region and the stop coannihilation region) are now permitted. In this framework, we analyze in detail first the direct dark matter detection prospects in a XENON-like experiment; then we study the capability of detecting gamma-rays produced in the annihilation of neutralino LSPs in the FERMI satellite.
We analyze the dark matter problem in the context of supersymmetric U(1)_{B-L} model. In this model, the lightest neutalino can be the B-L gaugino widetilde {Z}_{B-L} or the extra Higgsinos widetilde{chi}_{1,2} dominated. We compute the thermal relic abundance of these particles and show that, unlike the LSP in MSSM, they can account for the observed relic abundance with no conflict with other phenomenological constraints. The prospects for their direct detection, if they are part of our galactic halo, are also discussed.
The discovery of a particle that could be the lightest CP-even Higgs of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) and the lack of evidence so far for supersymmetry at the LHC have many profound implications, including for the phenomenology of supersymmetric dark matter. In this study, we re-evaluate and give an update on the prospects for detecting supersymmetric neutralinos with neutrino telescopes, focussing in particular on the IceCube/DeepCore Telescope as well as on its proposed extension, PINGU. Searches for high-energy neutrinos from the Sun with IceCube probe MS…
The R-parity conserving MSSM in light of the decay $B_s\rightarrowμ^+μ^-$ with near-SM branching ratio is an interesting platform for studying the complementarity between direct and indirect searches for beyond the SM physics. Based on this, we have analysed the possible impact of the $B_s\rightarrowμ^+μ^-$ observation on the posterior sample from the global fit of a 30-parameter MSSM (MSSM-30), and the related Wilson Coefficients. The MSSM-30 is a systematically constructed, symmetry-guided, MSSM parametrization, as opposed to the traditional frames (e.g. pMSSM) with crude treatment of flavor…
We examine the prospects for the detection of Higgs mediated lepton flavor violation at LHC and at a photon collider in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with large lepton flavor violating mass insertions in the $μ-τ$ sector constraining the parameter space with several experimental bounds. We find rates probably too small to be observed at future experiments if models have to accommodate for a neutralino relic density as measured by WMAP and explain the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly: better prospects are found if these two constraints are applied only as upper bounds. The spin-independent neutral…
We have found the possible region of parameters of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) within the bounds from the experimental results of the Higgs mass, the rare decay mode of $b$-quark, the muon $g-2$, the dark matter abundance, and the direct searches for the lighter stop (i.e., one of the supersymmetric partners of top quark) at the LHC. We present numerical results of calculations for the one loop effects of supersymmetric particles in the processes of $τ^+ τ^-$, $b \overline{b}$, $t \overline{t}$, and $Z h$ production at the ILC by using benchmark points within the possible …
Recent experimental results from the LHC have placed strong constraints on the masses of QCD-charged superpartners. The MSSM parameter space is also constrained by the measurement of the Higgs boson mass, and the requirement that the relic density of lightest neutralinos be consistent with observations. Although large regions of the MSSM parameter space can be excluded by these combined bounds, leptophilic versions of the MSSM can survive these constraints. In this paper we consider a scenario in which the requirements of minimal flavor violation, vanishing $CP$-violation, and mass universalit…
In these lecture notes we review some prospect for the upcoming LHC experiments in view of the exploration of the Standard Model (SM) or its minimal Supersymmetric extension (MSSM). We focus on some theoretical aspects concerning the Higgs sector of the two models. We give results for the precision observables M_W and m_t and their impact on the indirect determination of the Higgs sector. We furthermore review some prospects for the direct measurements in the SM and MSSM Higgs sector.
We analyze the phenomenological consequences of assuming that the 125 GeV boson measured at the LHC coincides with one of the two CP-even Higgs bosons of an effective Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model at the electroweak scale. We consider the two ensuing scenarios and discuss critically the role of the various experimental data (mainly obtained at colliders and at B-factories) which provide actual or potential constraints to supersymmetric properties. Within these scenarios, properties of neutralinos as dark matter particles are analyzed from the point of view of their cos…
The $(B-L)$ Supersymmetric Standard Model (BLSSM) motivates several Dark Matter (DM) candidates beyond the Minimally Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We assess the comparative naturalness of the two models and discuss the potential detection properties of a particular candidate, the Right-Handed (RH) sneutrino.
Run 1 of the LHC has provided three new motivations for supersymmetry: the need to stabilize the electroweak vacuum, the mass of the Higgs boson, and the fact that its couplings are Standard Model-like (so far). The prospects for discovering (and measuring) supersymmetry during future runs of the LHC are discussed in the frameworks of the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), models with non-universal soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to Higgs masses (NUHM1,2) and the phenomenological MSSM with 10 arbitrary soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters (pMSSM10). In addition to the classic searches for m…
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations recently reported indication of a Higgs boson around 125 GeV. If we add extra vector-like quarks to the MSSM, such a relatively heavy Higgs can be naturally realized in the GMSB framework, simultaneously explaining the muon g-2 anomaly. I will discuss LHC prospects of this attractive model.
The prospects for central exclusive diffractive (CED) production of MSSM Higgs bosons at the LHC are reviewed. It is shown that the CED channels, making use of forward proton detectors at the LHC installed at 220 m and 420 m distance around ATLAS and / or CMS, can provide important information on the Higgs sector of the MSSM. In particular, CED production of the neutral CP-even Higgs bosons h and H and their decays into bottom quarks has the potential to probe interesting regions of the M_A--tan_beta parameter plane of the MSSM and may give access to the bottom Yukawa couplings of the Higgs bo…
We study supersymmetric dark matter in the general flavor diagonal MSSM by means of an extensive random scan of its parameter space. We find that, in contrast with the standard mSUGRA lore, the large majority of viable models features either a higgsino or a wino-like lightest neutralino, and yields a relic abundance well below the WMAP bound. Among the models with neutralino relic density within the WMAP range, higgsino-like neutralinos are still dominant, though a sizeable fraction of binos is also present. In this latter case, relic density suppression mechanisms are shown to be essential in…
The MIMAC project aims to provide a nominal fluorine detector for directional detection of galactic dark matter recoil events. Its expected behavior reaches an important part of the predicted spin dependent elastic scattering interactions of the supersymmetric neutralino with protons. Hence, the parameter space in the MSSM and the NMSSM models with neutralino dark matter could be probed by such experimental efforts. In particular, a good sensitivity to spin dependent interactions tackles parameter space regions to which the predictions on spin independent interactions and indirect signatures a…
We compute the genuine SUSY one-loop quantum contributions to flavour-changing MSSM Higgs-boson decays into $b \bar s$ and $s \bar b$ using the full diagrammatic approach that is valid for all $\tan β$ values and do not rely on the mass-insertion approximation for the characteristic flavour-changing parameter. We analyze in full detail the dependence of these flavour-changing partial widths on all the relevant MSSM parameters and also study the non-decoupling behaviour of these widths with the SUSY mass parameters. We find that these contributions are sizable as compared to the SM ones, and ca…
We study the prospects of detecting muon events at the upcoming Iron CALorimeter (ICAL) detector to be built at the proposed India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) facility due to neutrinos arising out of annihilation of Weakly Interactive Massive Particles (WIMP) in the centre of the earth. The atmospheric neutrinos coming from the direction of earth core presents an irreducible background. We consider 50kt $\times$ 10 years of ICAL running and WIMP masses between 10-100 GeV and present 90 \% C.L. exclusion sensitivity limits on $σ_{SI}$ which is the WIMP-nucleon Spin Independent (SI) interac…
The "top-down" approach to minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) phenomenology provides model-dependent indications for a natural stop mass. The approach is based on specific assumptions about the supersymmetry-breaking energy scale and parameters degeneracies. In order to determine robust predictions we update the stop-mass prediction within the MSSM with 25 parameters (MSSM-25) by including electroweak fine-tuning as "naturalness data" during the Bayesian fits of the parameters to experimental data. The approximately prior-independent results show that imposing naturalness, taken here…
Recent results on MSSM Higgs physics at the LHC are reviewed. The dependence of the LHC discovery reach in the b\bar b H/A, H/A \to τ^+τ^- channel on the underlying SUSY scenario is analysed. This is done by combining the latest results for the prospective CMS experimental sensitivities for an integrated luminosity of 30 or 60 fb^-1 with state-of-the-art theoretical predictions of MSSM Higgs-boson properties. The results are interpreted in terms of the parameters governing the MSSM Higgs sector at lowest order, M_A and tan_beta. While the higgsino mass parameter μhas a significant impact on th…
We consider the viability of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with a light ($m_{\tilde t_1} < $ 45 GeV) stop. In order for its relic abundance to be cosmologically significant, the photino as dark matter must be quite close in mass to the stop, $(m_{\tilde t_1} - m_{\tilde γ}) \simeq 3 - 7 $ GeV. However, as we show, the photino despite its low mass is virtually undetectable by either direct or indirect means. We also discuss the implications of these masses on the top quark branching ratios.
The minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) has a truly supersymmetric way to explain both the baryon asymmetry and cold dark matter in the present Universe, that is, ``Affleck-Dine baryo/DM-genesis.'' The associated late-time decay of Q-balls directly connects the origins of the baryon asymmetry and dark matter, and also predicts a specific nature of the LSP. In this paper, we investigate the prospects for indirect detection of these dark matter candidates observing high energy neutrino flux from the Sun, and hard positron flux from the halo. We also update the previous analysis of the d…
Indirect detection of dark matter particles, i.e. the detection of annihilation or decay products of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles, has entered a pivotal phase as experiments reach sensitivities that probe the most interesting parameter space. This period is naturally accompanied by claims of detection. In this contribution I discuss and compare different probes (gamma-rays, neutrinos and charged cosmic rays) and review the status and prospects of constraints and recent detection claims.
We review the analysis of the 5 sigma discovery contours for the charged MSSM Higgs boson at the CMS experiment with 30 fb^-1 for the two cases M_H+ < m_t and M_H+ > m_t. Latest results for the CMS experimental sensitivities based on full simulation studies are combined with state-of-the-art theoretical predictions of MSSM Higgs-boson production and decay properties. Special focus is put on the SUSY parameter dependence of the 5 sigma contours. The variation of mu can shift the prospective discovery reach in tan_beta by up to Delta tan_beta = 40. We furthermore discuss various theory uncertain…
The search for MSSM Higgs bosons will be an important goal at the LHC. In order to analyze the search reach of the CMS experiment for the charged MSSM Higgs bosons, we combine the latest results for the CMS experimental sensitivities based on full simulation studies with state-of-the-art theoretical predictions of MSSM Higgs-boson production and decay properties. The experimental analyses are done assuming an integrated luminosity of 30 fb^-1 for the two cases M_H+- < m_t and M_H+- > m_t. The results are interpreted as 5 sigma discovery contours in M_H+- - tan_beta planes of the MSSM for vario…
In this article, we explore the interplay between searches for supersymmetric particles and Higgs bosons at hadron colliders (the Tevatron and the LHC) and direct dark matter searches (such as CDMS, ZEPLIN, XENON, EDELWEISS, CRESST, WARP and others). We focus on collider searches for heavy MSSM Higgs bosons ($A$, $H$, $H^{\pm}$) and how the prospects for these searches are impacted by direct dark matter limits and vice versa. We find that the prospects of these two experimental programs are highly interrelated. A positive detection of $A$, $H$ or $H^{\pm}$ at the Tevatron would dramatically en…
