We show that the topological T-duality for circle bundles introduced in work of Bouwknegt-Evslin-Mathai can be interpreted as a form of Atiyah duality for twisted K-theory.
We construct the Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence (AHSS) for twisted differential generalized cohomology theories. This generalizes to the twisted setting the authors' corresponding earlier construction for differential cohomology theories, as well as to the differential setting the AHSS for twisted generalized cohomology theories, including that of twisted K-theory by Rosenberg and Atiyah-Segal. In describing twisted differential spectra we build on the work of Bunke-Nikolaus, but we find it useful for our purposes to take an approach that highlights direct analogies with classical bundles…
In this paper, we study {\bf twisted Milnor hypersurfaces} and compute their $\hat A$-genus and Atiyah-Singer-Milnor $α$-invariant. Our tool to compute the $α$-invariant is Zhang's analytic Rokhlin congruence formula. We also give some applications about group actions and metrics of positive scalar curvature on twisted Milnor hypersurfaces.
Higher twisted $K$-theory is an extension of twisted $K$-theory introduced by Ulrich Pennig which captures all of the homotopy-theoretic twists of topological $K$-theory in a geometric way. We give an overview of his formulation and key results, and reformulate the definition from a topological perspective. We then investigate ways of producing explicit geometric representatives of the higher twists of $K$-theory viewed as cohomology classes in special cases using the clutching construction and when the class is decomposable. Atiyah-Hirzebruch and Serre spectral sequences are developed and inf…
We introduce a periodic form of the iterated algebraic K-theory of ku, the (connective) complex K-theory spectrum, as well as a natural twisting of this cohomology theory by higher gerbes. Furthermore, we prove a form of topological T-duality for sphere bundles oriented with respect to this theory.
We give a description of the factorization homology and $E_n$ topological Hochschild cohomology of Thom spectra arising from $n$-fold loop maps $f: A \to BO$, where $A = Ω^n X$ is an $n$-fold loop space. We describe the factorization homology $\int_M Th(f)$ as the Thom spectrum associated to a certain map $\int _M A \to BO$. When $M$ is framed and $X$ is $(n-1)$-connected, this spectrum is equivalent to a Thom spectrum of a virtual bundle over the mapping space $Map_c(M,X)$; in general, this is a Thom spectrum of a virtual bundle over a certain section space. This can be viewed as a twisted fo…
