We classify globally generated vector bundles on $\mathbf{P}^1 \times \mathbf{P}^1 \times \mathbf{P}^1$ with small first Chern class, i.e. $c_1= (a_1, a_2, a_3)$, $a_i \le 2$. Our main method is to investigate the associated smooth curves to globally generated vector bundles via the Hartshorne-Serre correspondence.
In this paper, Gotzmann's Regularity Theorem is established for globally generated coherent sheaves on projective space. This is used to extend Gotzmann's explicit construction to the Quot scheme. The Gotzmann representation is applied to bound the second Chern class of a rank 2 globally generated coherent sheaf in terms of the first Chern class.
We classify nef vector bundles on a projective space with first Chern class three over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero; we see, in particular, that these nef vector bundles are globally generated if the second Chern class is less than eight, and that there exist nef but non-globally generated vector bundles with second Chern class eight and nine on a projective plane.
Bielliptic surfaces are the last family of Kodaira dimension zero algebraic surfaces without a classification result for the Chern characters of stable sheaves. We rectify this and prove such a classification using a combination of classical techniques, on the one hand, and derived category and Bridgeland stability techniques, on the other. Along the way, we prove the existence of projective coarse moduli spaces of objects in the derived category of a bielliptic surface that Bridgeland semistable with respect to a generic stability condition. By systematically studying the connection between B…
We classify globally generated vector bundles on the projective n-space with first Chern class = 4. This extends previous results for first Chern class at most 3, namely for 2 of Sierra and Ugaglia [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 213 (2009), 2141-2146] and for 3 of Anghel and Manolache [arXiv:1202.6261] and, independently, of Sierra and Ugaglia [arXiv:1203.0185]. It turns out that the case first Chern class = 4 is much more involved than the previous cases, especially on the projective 3-space. Among the bundles appearing in our classification one can find the Sasakura rank 3 vector bundle on the proje…
In this paper, we show that the cohomology of a general stable bundle on a Hirzebruch surface is determined by the Euler characteristic provided that the first Chern class satisfies necessary intersection conditions. More generally, we compute the Betti numbers of a general stable bundle. We also show that a general stable bundle on a Hirzebruch surface has a special resolution generalizing the Gaeta resolution on the projective plane. As a consequence of these results, we classify Chern characters such that the general stable bundle is globally generated.
We classify globally generated vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^1 \times \mathbb{P}^2$ with small first Chern class, i.e. $c_1= (a,b)$, $a+b \leq 3$. Our main method is to investigate the associated smooth curves to globally generated vector bundles via the Hartshorne-Serre construction.
We investigate the globally generated vector bundles on complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefolds with the first Chern class at most 2. We classify all the globally generated vector bundles of an arbitrary rank on quintic in $\mathbb{P}^4$ and investigate the globally generated vector bundles of rank 2 on complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefolds of codimension 2.
We investigate the existence of globally generated vector bundles of rank 2 with $c_1\leq 3$ on a smooth quadric threefold and determine their Chern classes. As an automatic consequence, every rank 2 globally generated vector bundle on $Q$ with $c_1=3$ is an odd instanton up to twist.
Let $G$ be a compact connected Lie group. We show that the category $\mathbf{Loc}_{\infty}(BG)$ of $\infty$-local systems on the classifying space of $G$, can be described infinitesimally as the category $\mathbf{InfLoc}_{\infty}(\mathfrak{g})$ of basic $\mathfrak{g}$-$L_\infty$ spaces. Moreover, we show that, given a principal bundle $π\colon P \rightarrow X$ with structure group $G$ and any connection $θ$ on $P$, there is a DG functor $$\mathcal{CW}_θ \colon \mathbf{InfLoc}_{\infty}(\mathfrak{g}) \longrightarrow \mathbf{Loc}_{\infty}(X), $$ which corresponds to the pullback functor by the cl…
One classifies the globally generated vector bundles on P^3 with the first Chern class c_1=3. The case c_1=2 on P^n was done by J.C. Sierra and L. Ugaglia (see the References) and the case c_1=3, rank=2 on P^n was done by S. Huh (see the References).
One classifies the globally generated vector bundles on P^n (n \not = 3) with the first Chern class c_1 = 3. The case n = 3 is treated in arXiv:1202.5988 [math.AG]. The case c_1 = 2 was treated by J.C. Sierra and L. Ugaglia (see References), the case c_1 = 3, rank = 2 is settled by S. Huh (see References), the case rank = 2, c_1 \le 5 is studied by L. Chiodera and Ph. Ellia (see References).
Let $k$ be an algebraic closure of finite fields with odd characteristic $p$ and a smooth projective scheme $\mathbf{X}/W(k)$. Let $\mathbf{X}^0$ be its generic fiber and $X$ the closed fiber. For $\mathbf{X}^0$ a curve Faltings conjectured that semistable Higgs bundles of slope zero over $\mathbf{X}^0_{\mathbb{C}_p}$ correspond to genuine representations of the algebraic fundamental group of $\mathbf{X}^0_{\mathbb{C}_p}$ in his $p$-adic Simpson correspondence. This paper intends to study the conjecture in the characteristic $p$ setting. Among other results, we show that isomorphism classes of…
We consider the problem of determining all pairs (c_1, c_2) of Chern classes of rank 2 bundles that are cokernel of a skew-symmetric matrix of linear forms in 3 variables, having constant rank 2c_1 and size 2c_1+2. We completely solve the problem in the "stable" range, i.e. for pairs with c_1^2-4c_2<0, proving that the additional condition c_2\le {{c_1+1}\choose 2} is necessary and sufficient. For c_1^2-4c_2\ge 0, we prove that there exist globally generated bundles, some even defining an embedding of P^2 in a Grassmannian, that cannot correspond to a matrix of the above type. This extends pre…
We show in this article that if a holomorphic vector bundle has a nonnegative Hermitian metric in the sense of Bott and Chern, which always exists on globally generated holomorphic vector bundles, then some special linear combinations of Chern forms are strongly nonnegative. This particularly implies that all the Chern numbers of such a holomorphic vector bundle are nonnegative and can be bounded below and above respectively by two special Chern numbers. As applications, we obtain a family of new results on compact connected complex manifolds which are homogeneous or can be holomorphically imm…
We classify globally generated vector bundles with first Chern class $c_1$ at least 4 on the projective 3-space with the property that $E(-c_1+3)$ has a non-zero global section. This (seemingly) technical result allows one to reduce the classification of globally generated vector bundles with $c_1$ at most 7 on the projective 3-space to the classification of stable rank-2 reflexive sheaves with the same properties. The proof is based on a description of the monads of all locally Cohen-Macaulay space curves defined by cubic equations. We extend then this kind of classification to higher dimensi…
Let $X$ be a nonsingular projective $n$-fold $(n\ge 2)$ of Fano or of general type with ample canonical bundle $K_X$ over an algebraic closed field $κ$ of any characteristic. We produce a new method to give a bunch of inequalities in terms of all the Chern classes $c_1, c_2, \cdots, c_n$ by pulling back Schubert classes in the Chow group of Grassmannian under the Gauss map. Moreover, we show that if the characteristic of $κ$ is $0$, then the Chern ratios $(\frac{c_{2,1^{n-2}}}{c_{1^n}}, \frac{c_{2,2,1^{n-4}}}{c_{1^n}}, \cdots, \frac{c_{n}}{c_{1^n}})$ are contained in a convex polyhedron for al…
We provide a classification of globally generated vector bundles with $c_1 = 5$ on the projective 3-space. The classification is complete (except for one case) but not as detailed as the corresponding classification in the case $c_1 = 4$ from our paper [Memoirs A.M.S., Vol. 253, No. 1209 (2018), also arXiv:1305.3464]. We determine, at least, the pairs of integers $(a , b)$ for which there exist globally generated vector bundles on the projective 3-space with Chern classes $c_1 = 5$, $c_2 = a$, $c_3 = b$ (except for the case $(12 , 0)$ and the complementary case $(13 , 5)$ which remain undecide…
In the largest, currently known, class of one Quadrillion globally consistent F-theory Standard Models with gauge coupling unification and no chiral exotics, the vector-like spectra are counted by cohomologies of root bundles. In this work, we apply a previously proposed method to identify toric base 3-folds, which are promising to establish F-theory Standard Models with exactly three quark-doublets and no vector-like exotics in this representation. The base spaces in question are obtained from triangulations of 708 polytopes. By studying root bundles on the quark doublet curve $C_{(\mathbf{3}…
For any simple Lie algebra, a positive integer, and tuple of compatible weights, the conformal blocks bundle is a globally generated vector bundle on the moduli space of pointed rational curves. We classify all $S_n$-invariant vector bundles of conformal blocks for $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ which have rank one. We show that the cone generated by their base point free first Chern classes is polyhedral, generated by level one divisors.
We combine the idea of Chang and Ran [Invent. Math. 76 (1984), 41-54] of using monads of vector bundles on the projective 3-space to prove the unirationality of the moduli spaces of curves of low genus with our classification of globally generated vector bundles with small first Chern class $c_1$ on the projective 3-space to get an alternative argument for the unirationality of the moduli spaces of curves of degree at most 13 (based on the general framework of Chang and Ran).
