We define a new algebra, which can formally be considered as a ${\cal C}{\cal P}$ deformed $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ Lie algebra. Then, we present a one-dimensional quantum oscillator model, of which the wavefunctions of even and odd states are expressed by Krawtchouk polynomials with fixed $p=1/2$, $K_{2n}(k;1/2,2j)$ and $K_{2n}(k-1;1/2,2j-2)$. The dynamical symmetry of the model is the newly introduced $\mathfrak{su}(2)_{{\cal C}{\cal P}}$ algebra. The model itself gives rise to a finite and discrete spectrum for all physical operators (such as position and momentum). Among the set of finite oscillator models it is unique in the sense that any specific limit reducing it to a known oscillator models does not exist.
The oscillator Racah algebra $\mathcal{R}_n(\mathfrak{h})$ is realized by the intermediate Casimir operators arising in the multifold tensor product of the oscillator algebra $\mathfrak{h}$. An embedding of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_{n-1}$ into $\mathcal{R}_n(\mathfrak{h})$ is presented. It relates the representation theory of the two algebras. We establish the connection between recoupling coefficients for $\mathfrak{h}$ and matrix elements of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$-representations which are both expressed in terms of multivariate Krawtchouk polynomials of Griffiths type.
We discuss topics related to finite-dimensional calculus in the context of finite-dimensional quantum mechanics. The truncated Heisenberg-Weyl algebra is called a TAA algebra after Tekin, Aydin, and Arik who formulated it in terms of orthofermions. It is shown how to use a matrix approach to implement analytic representations of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra in univariate and multivariate settings. We provide examples for the univariate case. Krawtchouk polynomials are presented in detail, including a review of Krawtchouk polynomials that illustrates some curious properties of the Heisenberg-Wey…
Recently, a new definition for a Wigner distribution function for a one-dimensional finite quantum system, in which the position and momentum operators have a finite (multiplicity-free) spectrum, was developed. This distribution function is defined on discrete phase-space (a finite square grid), and can thus be referred to as the Wigner matrix. In the current paper, we compute this Wigner matrix (or rather, the pre-Wigner matrix, which is related to the Wigner matrix by a simple matrix multiplication) for the case of the $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ finite oscillator. The first expression for the matrix…
We study the time evolution of a single spin excitation state in certain linear spin chains, as a model for quantum communication. Some years ago it was discovered that when the spin chain data (the nearest neighbour interaction strengths and the magnetic field strengths) are related to the Jacobi matrix entries of Krawtchouk polynomials or dual Hahn polynomials, so-called perfect state transfer takes place. The extension of these ideas to other types of discrete orthogonal polynomials did not lead to new models with perfect state transfer, but did allow more insight in the general computation…
After introducing Berezin integral for polynomials of odd variables, we develop the elementary integral calculus based on supersmooth functions on the superspace ${\mathfrak{R}}^{m|n}$. Here, ${\mathfrak{R}}$ is the Fréchet-Grassmann algebra with countably infinite Grassmann generators, which plays the role of real number field ${\mathbb{R}}$. As is well-known that the formula of change of variables under integral sign is indispensable not only to treat PDE applying funtional analytic method but also to introduce analysis on supermanifolds. But, if we define naively the integral for supersmoot…
A vector field is called a Beltrami vector field, if $B\times(\nabla\times B)=0$. In this paper we construct two unique Beltrami vector fields $\mathfrak{I}$ and $\mathfrak{Y}$, such that $\nabla\times\mathfrak{I}=\mathfrak{I}$, $\nabla\times\mathfrak{Y}=\mathfrak{Y}$, and such that both have an orientation-preserving icosahedral symmetry. Both of them have an additional symmetry with respect to a non-trivial automorphism of the number field $\mathbb{Q}(\,\sqrt{5}\,)$.
This paper aims to show that a certain moduli space $\textsf{T}$, which arises from the so-called Dwork family of Calabi-Yau $n$-folds, carries a special complex Lie algebra containing a copy of $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C})$. In order to achieve this goal, we introduce an algebraic group $\sf G$ acting from the right on $\textsf{T}$ and describe its Lie algebra ${\rm Lie}({\sf G})$. We observe that ${\rm Lie}({\sf G})$ is isomorphic to a Lie subalgebra of the space of the vector fields on $\textsf{T}$. In this way, it turns out that ${\rm Lie}({\sf G})$ and the modular vector field ${\sf R}$ g…
The universal Askey-Wilson algebra $AW(3)$ can be obtained as the commutant of $U_q(\mathfrak{su}(1,1))$ in $U_q(\mathfrak{su}(1,1))^{\otimes3}$. We analyze the commutant of $\mathfrak{o}_{q^{1/2}}(2)\oplus\mathfrak{o}_{q^{1/2}}(2)\oplus\mathfrak{o}_{q^{1/2}}(2)$ in $q$-oscillator representations of $\mathfrak{o}_{q^{1/2}}(6)$ and show that it also realizes $AW(3)$. These two pictures of $AW(3)$ are shown to be dual in the sense of Howe; this is made clear by highlighting the role of the intermediate Casimir elements of each members of the dual pair $\big(U_q(\mathfrak{su}(1,1)),\mathfrak{o}_{…
We revisit the free field construction of the deformed $W$-superalgebras ${\cal W}_{q,t}(\mathfrak{sl}(2|1))$ by J. Ding and B. Feigin, {\it Contemp.Math.}{\bf 248}, 83-108 (1998), where the basic $W$-current and screening currents have been found. In this paper we introduce higher $W$-currents and obtain a closed set of quadratic relations among them. These relations are independent of the choice of Dynkin diagrams for the superalgebra $\mathfrak{sl}(2|1)$, though the screening currents are not. This allows us to define ${\cal W}_{q,t}(\mathfrak{sl}(2|1))$ by generators and relations.
We introduce an $\mathfrak{F}$-valued generalization of the Virasoro algebra, called the Frobenius-Virasoro algebra $\mathfrak{vir_F}$, where $\mathfrak{F}$ is a Frobenius algebra over $\mathbb{R}$. We also study Euler equations on the regular dual of $\mathfrak{vir_F}$, including the $\mathfrak{F}$-$\mathrm{KdV}$ equation and the $\mathfrak{F}$-$\mathrm{CH}$ equation and the $\mathfrak{F}$-$\mathrm{HS}$ equation, and discuss their Hamiltonian properties.
We introduce the umbral calculus formalism for hypercomplex variables starting from the fact that the algebra of multivariate polynomials $\BR[\underline{x}]$ shall be described in terms of the generators of the Weyl-Heisenberg algebra. The extension of $\BR[\underline{x}]$ to the algebra of Clifford-valued polynomials $\mathcal{P}$ gives rise to an algebra of Clifford-valued operators whose canonical generators are isomorphic to the orthosymplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$. This extension provides an effective framework in continuity and discreteness that allow us to establish an alt…
We continue our study and classification of structures on the Fano plane ${\cal F}$ and its dual ${\cal F}^\ast$ involved in the construction of octonions and the Lie algebra $\mathfrak g_2 (\mathbb F)$ over a field $\mathbb F$. These are a "composition factor": ${\cal F}\times {\cal F} \to\{-1, 1\}$, inducing an octonion multiplication, and a function $δ^\ast : Aut({\cal F}) \times {\cal F}^\ast \to \{-1, 1\}$ such that $g \in Aut({\cal F})$ can be lifted to an automorphism of the octonions iff $δ^\ast(g, \cdot)$ is the Radon transform of a function on ${\cal F}$. We lift the action of $Aut({…
We discuss a class of vertex operator algebras $\mathcal{W}_{m|n\times \infty}$ generated by a super-matrix of fields for each integral spin $1,2,3,\dots$. The algebras admit a large family of truncations that are in correspondence with holomorphic functions on the Calabi-Yau singularity given by solutions to $xy=z^mw^n$. We propose a free-field realization of such truncations generalizing the Miura transformation for $\mathcal{W}_N$ algebras. Relations in the ring of holomorphic functions lead to bosonization-like relations between different free-field realizations. The discussion provides a …
It is well-known that the commutant algebra of the $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-action on the $n$-fold tensor product of its fundamental module is isomorphic to the Temperley-Lieb algebra TL$_n(ν)$ with fugacity parameter $ν= -q - q^{-1}$ (at least in the generic case, i.e., when $q$ is not a root of unity, or $n$ is small enough). Furthermore, the simple $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-modules appearing in the direct-sum decomposition of the $n$-fold tensor product module are in one-to-one correspondence with those of the Temperley-Lieb algebra. This double-commutant property is referred to as quantum Schur…
We have recently shown that pseudo-bosonic operators realize concrete examples of finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras over the complex field. It has been the first time that such operators were analyzed in terms of nilpotent Lie algebras (under prescribed conditions of physical character). On the other hand, the general classification of a finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathfrak{l}$ may be given via the size of its Schur multiplier involving the so-called corank $t(\mathfrak{l})$ of $\mathfrak{l}$. We represent $\mathfrak{l}$ by pseudo-bosonic ladder operators for $t(\mathfra…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a Lie algebra, $E$ a vector space containing $\mathfrak{g}$ as a subspace. The paper is devoted to the \emph{extending structures problem} which asks for the classification of all Lie algebra structures on $E$ such that $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Lie subalgebra of $E$. A general product, called the unified product, is introduced as a tool for our approach. Let $V$ be a complement of $\mathfrak{g}$ in $E$: the unified product $\mathfrak{g} \,\natural \, V$ is associated to a system $(\triangleleft, \, \triangleright, \, f, \{-, \, -\})$ consisting of two actions $\triangleleft$ a…
