In this paper, we investigate the phantom energy accretion onto 3D black hole formulated in Einstein-Power-Maxwell theory. We have presented the conditions for critical accretion of phantom energy onto black hole. Further, we discuss the thermodynamics of phantom energy accreting onto black hole and found that first law of thermodynamics is easily satisfied while second law and generalized second law of thermodynamics remain invalid and conditionally valid, respectively. The results for BTZ black hole can be recovered by taking Maxwellian contribution equal to zero.
In this paper, we have studied the accretion of phantom energy on a (2+1)-dimensional stationary Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole. It has already been shown by Babichev et al that for the accretion of phantom energy onto a Schwarzschild black hole, the mass of black hole would decrease and the rate of change of mass would be dependent on the mass of the black hole. However, in the case of (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole, the mass evolution due to phantom accretion is independent of the mass of the black hole and is dependent only on the pressure and density of the phantom energy. W…
We investigate the spherical accretion process for general static spherically symmetric fluids. We analyze this process by using the general metric ansatz for spherically symmetric black holes. We specialize to the case of normal and phantom isothermal fluids and investigate their accretion process onto normal and phantom Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton black holes. Backreaction effects are discussed.
Null geodesics of normal and phantom Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton black holes are determined analytically by the Weierstrass elliptic functions. The black hole parameters other than the mass enter, with the appropriate signs, the formula for the angle of deflection to the second order in the inverse of the impact parameter allowing for the identification of the nature of matter (phantom or normal). Such identification is also possible via the time delay formula and observation of relativistic images. Scattering experiencesmay favor black holes of Einstein-anti-Maxwell-dilatonic theory for their hi…
Using a new ansatz for solving the Einstein equations with a scalar field with the sign of the kinetic term inverted, I find a series of formulae to derive axial symmetric stationary exact solutions of the Phantom scalar field in general relativity. We focus on the solutions which represent wormholes. The procedure presented in this work allows to derive new exact solutions up to very simple integrations. Among other results, I find exact rotating solutions containing magnetic monopoles, dipoles, etc., coupled to Phantom scalar and to gravitational multipole fields.
The uniqueness theorem for static, spherically symmetric, asymptotically flat, higher dimensional phantom black holes, with non-degenerate event horizon , being the solutions of Einstein phantom/dilaton Maxwell/anti-Maxwell gravity systems is considered. Conformal positive energy theorem and conformal transformations authorize the crucial tools for exploiting the boundary conditions and conformal flatness.
The accretion of phantom fields by black holes within a thermodynamic context is addressed. For a fluid violating the dominant energy condition, case of a phantom fluid, the Euler and Gibbs relations permit two different possibilities for the entropy and temperature: a situation in which the entropy is negative and the temperature is positive or vice-versa. In the former case, if the generalized second law (GSL) is valid, then the accretion process is not allowed whereas in the latter, there is a critical black hole mass below which the accretion process occurs. In a universe dominated by a ph…
We prove a uniqueness theorem for traversable wormhole solutions in the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with a phantom scalar field and a possible phantom electromagnetic field. In a certain region of the parameter space, determined by the asymptotic values of the scalar field and the lapse function, the regular wormholes are completely specified by their mass, scalar charge and electric charge. The argument is based on the positive energy theorem applied on an appropriate conformally transformed Riemannian space.
The uniqueness of static spherically symmetric traversable wormholes with two asymptotically flat ends, subject to the higher-dimensional solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-phantom dilaton field equations was proved. We considered the case of an arbitrary dilaton coupling constant. Conformal positive energy theorem plays the key role in the considerations.
Depending on five parameters, rotating counterparts of Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton black holes are derived. We discuss their physical and geometric properties and investigate their null and time-like geodesics including circular orbits. The Lense--Thirring effect is considered.
We obtain the general static, spherically symmetric solution for the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system in four dimensions with a phantom coupling for the dilaton and/or the Maxwell field. This leads to new classes of black hole solutions, with single or multiple horizons. Using the geodesic equations, we analyse the corresponding Penrose diagrams revealing, in some cases, new causal structures.
We construct static multicenter solutions of phantom Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory from null geodesics of the target space, leading to regular black holes without spatial symmetry for certain discrete values of the dilaton coupling constant. We also discuss the three-dimensional gravitating sigma models obtained by reduction of phantom Einstein-Maxwell, phantom Kaluza-Klein and phantom Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion theories. In each case, we generate by group transformations phantom charged black hole solutions from a neutral seed.
A thermodynamic analysis of the black hole solutions coming from the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theory (EMD) in 4D is done. By consider the canonical and grand-canonical ensemble, we apply standard method as well as a recent method known as Geometrothermodynamics (GTD). We are particularly interested in the characteristics of the so called phantom black hole solutions. We will analyze the thermodynamics of these solutions, the points of phase transition and their extremal limit. Also the thermodynamic stability is analyzed. We obtain a mismatch of the between the results of the GTD method when c…
We use the Legendre invariant formalism of geometrothermodynamics to investigate the geometric properties of the equilibrium space of a spherically symmetric phantom black hole with electric charge and dilaton. We find that at certain points of the equilibrium space, the thermodynamic curvature is characterized by the presence of singularities that are interpreted as phase transitions. We also investigate the phase transition structure by using the standard approach of black hole thermodynamics based upon the analysis of the heat capacity and response functions. We show compatibility between t…
In this paper we give an electrically charged traversable wormhole solution for the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory when the dilaton is a phantom field, i.e. it has flipped sign kinetic term appearing in the action. In the limit when the charge is zero, we recover the anti-Fisher solution, which can be reduced to the Bronnikov-Ellis solution under certain choices of integration constants. The equations of motion of this theory share the same S-duality invariance of string theory, so the electrically charged solution is rotated into the magnetically charged one by applying such transformations.…
In the classical relativistic regime, the accretion of phantom energy onto a black hole reduces the mass of the black hole. In this context, we have investigated the evolution of a Schwarzschild black hole in the standard model of cosmology using the phantom-like modified variable Chaplygin gas and the viscous generalized Chaplygin gas. The corresponding expressions for accretion time scale and evolution of mass have been derived. Our results indicate that mass of the black hole will decrease if the accreting phantom Chaplygin gas violates the dominant energy condition and will increase in the…
We investigated the problem of the dynamical collapse of a self-gravitating complex charged scalar field in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with a phantom copuling for the adequate fields in the system under consideration. We also considered two simplifications of it, i.e., the separate collapses of phantom Maxwell and phantom scalar fields under the influence of Einstein gravity. One starts with the regular spacetime and leads the evolution through the formation of the horizons and the final singularity. We discuss the structures of spacetimes emerging in the process of the dynamical collapse…
We conjecture that black holes, whether accreting matter or not, can also lose mass to phantom energy production. Such a process can be made plausible in theories that allow for non-local connections between short and long wavelength modes. If true, observational data should show an exchange of energy from matter to phantom at some cosmic epoch, and we discuss a simple model. Some remarks on an appropriate quantum gravity theory and related issues are also presented.
Motivated by some earlier works \cite{pavon,sadjadi} dealing with the study of generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics for a system comprising of a Schwarzschild black accreting a test non-self-gravitating fluid namely phantom energy in FRW universe, we extend them when the entropy of horizons of black hole and the cosmological undergo quantum corrections. Two types of such corrections are relevant here including logarithmic and power-law, while both are motivated from different theoretical backgrounds. We obtain general mathematical conditions for the validity of GSL in each case. Furt…
We investigate the dynamical behavior of phantom energy near stringy magnetically charged black hole. For this purpose, we derive equations of motion for steady-state spherically symmetric flow of phantom energy onto the stringy magnetically charged black hole. It is found that phantom energy accreting onto black hole decreases its mass. Further, the location of critical points of accretion is explored, which yields mass to charge ratio. This ratio implies that accretion process cannot transform a black hole into an extremal black hole or a naked singularity, hence cosmic censorship hypothesis…
Our research focus on gravitational collapse of electrically charged scalar field in dilaton gravity and in the presence of phantom coupling. We examine dynamical behaviour of the scalar field coupled to Maxwell field when gravitational interactions have form consistent with the low-energy limit of the string theory. Moreover, we allow the evolving fields to have negative sign in front of the respective kinetic term of the Lagrangian. The main aim of our studies is to investigate in what manner does the phantom nature of either Maxwell or dilaton fields (or both of them) affect the outcomes of…
In some models dark energy is described by phantom scalar fields (scalar fields with "wrong" sign of the kinetic term in the lagrangian). In the current paper we study the effect of phantom scalar field and/or phantom electromagnetic field on gravitational lensing by black holes in the strong deflection regime. The black-hole solutions that we have studied have been obtained in the frame of the Einstein-(anti-)Maxwell-(anti-)dilaton theory. The obtained results show considerable effect of the phantom scalar and electromagnetic fields on the angular position, brightness and separation of the re…

We present a novel, exact, traversable wormhole (T-WH) solution for $(3+1)$-dimensional Einstein-scalar-Gauss-Bonnet theory (EsGB) coupled to a power-Maxwell nonlinear electrodynamics (NLED). The solution is characterized by two parameters, $\mathcal{Q}\!_{\rm e}$ and $\mathcal{Q}\!_{_{ \mathcal{S} }}$, associated respectively with the electromagnetic field and the scalar field. We show that for $\mathcal{Q}^2_{\rm e} - \mathcal{Q}\!_{_{ \mathcal{S} }}>0$ the solution can be interpreted as a traversable wormhole. In the general case, with non-vanishing electromagnetic field, the scalar-Gauss-B…
We present a method to generate static solutions in the Einstein-Maxwell system with a (phantom) dilaton field in $n(\ge 4)$-dimensions, based upon the symmetry of the target space for the nonlinear sigma model. Unlike the conventional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system, there appears a critical value of the coupling constant for a phantom dilaton field. In the noncritical case, the target space is $\mathbb R\times {\rm SL}(2,\mathbb R)/H$ with the maximal subgroup $H=\{{\rm SO}(2), {\rm SO}(1,1)\}$, whereas in the critical case the target space becomes a symmetric pp-wave and the corresponding K…
In this paper, we study the deflection of light by a class of phantom black hole and wormhole solutions in the weak limit approximation. More specifically, in the first part of this work, we study the deflection of light by Garfinkle-Horowitz-Ströminger black hole and Einstein-Maxwell anti-dilaton black hole using the optical geometry and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Our calculations show that gravitational lensing is affected by the phantom scalar field (phantom dilaton). In the second part of this work, we explore the deflection of light by a class of asymptotically flat phantom wormholes. In p…
Regular black hole solutions are found among the Guilfoyle exact solutions. These are spherically symmetric solutions of general relativity coupled to Maxwell's electromagnetism and charged matter where the metric potentials and electromagnetic fields are related in some particularly simple form. We show that, for certain ranges of the parameters, there are objects which correspond to regular charged black holes, whose interior region is filled by an electrically charged phantom-like fluid, or, in the limiting case, a de Sitter false vacuum fluid, and whose exterior region is Reissner-Nordströ…
We obtain a new solution of the Einstein-anti-Maxwell theory with cosmological constant, called anti-Reissner-Nordstrom-(A)de Sitter (anti-RN-(A)dS) solution. The basic properties of this solution is reviewed. Its thermodynamics is consistently established, with the extreme cases and phase transitions, where the analysis is performed through two methods, the usual one and that of Geometrothermodynamics . The Geometrothermodynamics analysis does not provide a result in agreement with the usual method or by the specific heat. We establish local and global thermodynamic stabilities of anti-RN-AdS…
Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion gravity is a string-inspired model arising from the low energy effective action of heterotic string theory and an important candidate as alternative to General Relativity. Recently, some authors have explored its astrophysical implications in the spectra of accreting black holes and inferred the constraint $r_2 < 0.1$, where $r_2 \ge 0$ is the black hole dilaton charge and General Relativity is recovered for $r_2 = 0$. In the present paper, we study the impact of a non-vanishing black hole dilaton charge on the reflection spectrum of the disk. From the analysis o…
We consider the two classes cosh and sinh of normal and phantom black holes of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. The thermodynamics of these holes is characterized by heat capacities that may have both signs depending on the parameters of the theory. Leaving aside the normal Reissner-Nordström black hole, it is shown that only some phantom black holes of both classes exhibit critical phenomena. The two classes share a nonextremality, but special, critical point where the transition is continuous and the heat capacity, at constant charge, changes sign with an infinite discontinuity. This point y…

Although the entropy of black holes in any diffeomorphism invariant theory of gravity can be expressed as the Wald entropy, the issue of whether the entropy always obeys the second law of black hole thermodynamics remains open. Since the nonminimal coupling interaction between gravity and the electromagnetic field in the general quadric corrected Einstein-Maxwell gravity can sufficiently influence the expression of the Wald entropy, we check whether the Wald entropy of black holes in the quadric corrected gravity still satisfies the second law. A quasistationary accreting process of black hole…

We investigate time-dependent spherically symmetric solutions of the four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-axion-dilaton system, with the dilaton coupling that occurs in low-energy effective heterotic string theory. A class of dilaton-electrovacuum radiating solutions with a trivial axion, previously found by Güven and Yörük, is re-derived in a simpler manner and its causal structure is clarified. It is shown that such dynamical spacetimes featuring apparent horizons do not possess a regular light-like past null infinity or future null infinity, depending on whether they are radiating or accreting…
By replacing the scalar $ϕ$ with $iϕ$ in the solution constructed in Ref\cite{Huang:2019lsl}, we obtain electrically-charged wormhole and black hole solutions in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory, in which the scalar is a phantom field coupled to the Maxwell field non-minimally. Our solutions are simpler than the previously-known charged wormholes in the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory in that both the scalar and the radius of the foliating sphere of our solutions are independent of electric charge. The wormhole solution has two asymptotically flat regions and reduces to Ellis wormhole when t…
We obtain a new phantom black plane solution in 4D of the Einstein-Maxwell theory coupled with a cosmological constant. We analyse their basic properties, as well as its causal structure, and obtain the extensive and intensive thermodynamic variables, as well as the specific heat and the first law. Through the specific heat and the so-called geometric methods, we analyse in detail their thermodynamic properties, the extreme and phase transition limits, as well as the local and global stabilities of the system. The normal case is shown with an extreme limit and the phantom one with a phase tran…
In the present work, we study the general surrounded Vaidya solution by the various cosmological fields and its nature describing the possibility of the formation of naked singularities or black holes. Motivated by the fact that real astrophysical black holes as non-stationary and non-isolated objects are living in non-empty backgrounds, we focus on the black hole subclasses of this general solution describing a dynamical evaporating-accreting black holes in the dynamical cosmological backgrounds of dust, radiation, quintessence, cosmological constant-like and phantom fields, the so called sur…
We consider Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with charged dust and interaction of the form $P(χ) F_{μν} F^{μν}$, where $P(χ)$ is an arbitrary function of the dilaton field $χ$ that can be normal or phantom. For any regular $P(χ)$, static configurations are possible with arbitrary functions $g_{00} = \exp(2γ(x^i))$ ($i=1,2,3$) and $χ= χ(γ)$, without any assumption of spatial symmetry. The classical Majumdar-Papapetrou system is restored by putting $χ=$ const. Among possible solutions are black-hole (BH) and quasi-black-hole (QBH) ones. Some general results on BH and QBH properties are deduced a…
A variant of the accelerating cosmology reconstruction program is developed for $f(R)$ gravity and for a modified Yang-Mills/Maxwell theory. Reconstruction schemes in terms of e-foldings and by using an auxiliary scalar field are developed and carefully compared, for the case of $f(R)$ gravity. An example of a model with a transient phantom behavior without real matter is explicitly discussed in both schemes. Further, the two reconstruction schemes are applied to the more physically interesting case of a Yang-Mills/Maxwell theory, again with explicit examples. Detailed comparison of the two sc…
We consider static electrically charged dust configurations in the framework of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with the interaction term P(χ) F_{mn} F^{mn} in the Lagrangian, where P(χ) is an arbitrary function of the dilaton field χ, and the latter is allowed to be normal or phantom. It is shown that, for any regular P(χ), static configurations are possible with arbitrary functions g_{00} = e^{2γ(x^i)} (i=1,2,3) and χ= χ(γ), without any assumption of spatial symmetry. The corresponding matter, electric charge and scalar charge densities are found from the field equations. Meanwhile, configu…
We present an exact solution in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity describing a spacetime with an anisotropic Kasner-type singularity and Lifshitz asymptotics. This configuration can also be supported by a phantom scalar while still satisfying the Null Energy Condition. For certain parameters of this solution, null geodesics can have an infinitely deep effective potential, thus trapping photons in a finite region along the radial direction. Some examples of periodic null geodesics are obtained. A particularly interesting special case of this solution is a regular, soliton-type metric that retain…
The new, rapidly developing field of theoretical research --- studies of dark energy interacting with black holes (and, in particular, accreting onto black holes) --- is reviewed. The term `dark energy' is meant to cover a wide range of field theory models, as well as perfect fluids with various equations of state, including cosmological dark energy. Various accretion models are analyzed in terms of the simplest test field approximation or by allowing back reaction on the black-hole metric. The behavior of various types of dark energy in the vicinity of Schwarzschild and electrically charged b…
I study the generation and evolution of magnetic fields in the plasma surrounding a rotating black hole. Attention is focused on effects of the gravitomagnetic potential. The gravitomagnetic force appears as battery term in the generalized Ohm's law. The generated magnetic field should be stronger than fields generated by the classical Biermann battery. The coupling of the gravitomagnetic potential with electric fields appears as gravitomagnetic current in Maxwell's equations. In the magnetohydrodynamic induction equation, this current re-appears as source term for the poloidal magnetic field,…
According to the conjecture "complexity equals action," the complexity of a holographic state is equal to the action of a Wheeler-DeWitt (WDW) patch of black holes in anti-de Sitter space. In this paper we calculate the action growth of charged black holes with a single horizon, paying attention to the contribution from a spacelike singularity inside the horizon. We consider two kinds of such charged black holes: one is a charged dilaton black hole, and the other is a Born-Infeld black hole with $β^2 Q^2<1/4$. In both cases, although an electric charge appears in the black hole solutions, the …
In this work, we have assumed the generalized Vaidya solution in Lovelock theory of gravity in $(n+2)$-dimensions. It has been shown that Gauss-Bonnet gravity, dimensionally continued Lovelock gravity and pure Lovelock gravity can be constructed by suitable choice of parameters. We have investigated the occurrence of singularities formed by the gravitational collapse in above three particular forms of Lovelock theory of gravity. The dependence of the nature of singularity on the existence of radial null geodesic for Vaidya space-time has been specially considered. In all the three models, we h…
The equation of state (EoS) of dark energy $w$ remains elusive despite enormous experimental efforts to pin down its value and its time variation. Yet it is the single most important handle we have in our understanding of one of the most mysterious puzzle in nature, dark energy. This letter proposes a new method for measuring the EoS of dark energy by using the gravitational waves (GW) of black hole binaries. The method described here offers an alternative to the standard way of large scale surveys. It is well known that the mass of a black hole changes due to the accretion of dark energy but …
We show that Guilfoyle's exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations for spherical symmetric static electrically charged matter with a Reissner-Nordström exterior possess a bewildering plethora of different types of solutions. For the parameter space of the solutions we use two normalized variables, $q^2/R^2$ and $r_0/R$, where $q$ is the total electric charge, $r_0$ is the radius of the object, and $R$ is a length representing the square root of the inverse energy density of the matter. The two other parameters, the mass $m$ and the Guilfoyle parameter $a$, both dependent on $q$, $r_0$ …
As one step towards a systematic modeling of the electromagnetic (EM) emission from an inspiralling black hole binary we consider a simple scenario in which the binary moves in a uniform magnetic field anchored to a distant circumbinary disc. We study this system by solving the Einstein-Maxwell equations in which the EM fields are chosen with astrophysically consistent strengths. We consider binaries with spins aligned or anti-aligned with the orbital angular momentum and study the dependence of gravitational and EM signals with these spin configurations. Overall we find that the EM radiation …
