We have proposed an analytical approach for exact solution of multi-channel scattering problems, in presence of Dirac Delta function couplings. Our solution is quite general and is valid for any set of potentials, if the Green's functions of the uncoupled potentials are known at the crossing point. Using our model, it is possible to express N-channel problem by N independent `single' channel problems and hence one can have a realistic solution of multi-channel scattering problem. In this paper we have shown that transition probability from first diabatic potential to any other potential can be easily evaluated using a very simple analytical formula - which only require value of eigenfunction of first uncoupled potential and value of Green's function of other uncoupled potential, at the crossing.
The exact Green function is constructed for a quantum system, with known Green function, which is decorated by two delta function impurities. It is shown that when two such impurities coincide they behave as a single singular potential with combined amplitude. The results are extended to N impurities.
A model consisting of a Harmonic Oscillator well and a linear potential, coupled by Dirac delta function, is solved. We find the exact analytical expressions for Green's function for this problem. This Green's functions are used to calculate the Raman excitation profile and electronic absorption spectrum.
We present a simple recipe to construct the Green's function associated with a Hamiltonian of the form H=H_0+V, where H_0 is a Hamiltonian for which the associated Green's function is known and V is a delta-function potential. We apply this result to the case in which H_0 is the Hamiltonian of a free particle in D dimensions. Field theoretic concepts such as regularization, renormalization, dimensional transmutation and triviality are introduced naturally in order to deal with an infinity which shows up in the formal expression of the Green's function for D>1.
The exact form of quantum propagator of a quantum oscillator interacting with a bosonic bath consisting of $N$ distinguished quantum oscillators with different frequencies is obtained in the Heisenberg picture. Reduced density matrix for oscillator is obtained. The kernel or Green's function connecting the initial density matrix of the oscillator to the density matrix in an arbitrary time is obtained and its connection to Feynman-Vernon influence functional is discussed. Weak coupling regime and squared mean values for position, momentum and energy of the oscillator are obtained in equilibrium…
Using a Green's function formalism we derive analytical expressions for the electronic transmittance through a benzene ring. To motivate the approach we first solve the resonant level system and then extend the method to the benzene case. These results can be used to validate numerical methods.
In this work we calculate the exact Green's function for arbitrary rectangular potentials. Specifically we focus on Green's function for rectangular quantum wells enlarging the knowledge of exact solutions for Green's functions and also generalizing and resuming results in the literature. The exact formula has the form of a sum over paths and always can be cast into a closed analytic expression. From the poles and residues of the Green's function the bound states eigenenergies and eigenfunctions with the correct normalization constant are obtained. In order to show the versatility of the metho…
In this paper the solution of the hyperbolic Klein-Gordon thermal equation are obtained and discussed. The analytical form of the solution - Green functions are calculated for one and three dimensional cases. It is shown that only in three dimensional case the undisturbed, with one value of the velocity, thermal wave can be generated by attosecond laser pulses. The conductivity for the space-time inside the atom is calculated and the value sigma_0=10^6 1/(Omega m) is obtained. Key words: Attosecond laser pulses; Klein-Gordon equation; Green functions.
We consider Pauli--Dirac fermion submitted to an inhomogeneous magnetic field. It is showed that the propagator of the neutral Dirac particle with an anomalous magnetic moment in an external linear magnetic field is the causal Green function $S^{c}(x_{b},x_{a})$ of the Pauli--Dirac equation. The corresponding Green function is calculated via path integral method in global projection, giving rise to the exact eigenspinors expressions. The neutral particle creation probability corresponding to our system is analyzed, which is obtained as function of the introduced field $B'$ and the additional s…
Green's function in non-Hermitian systems has recently been revealed to be capable of directional amplification in some cases. The exact formulas for end-to-end Green's functions are significantly important for studies of both non-Hermitian systems and their applications. In this work, based on the Widom's formula, we derive exact formulas for the end-to-end Green's functions of single-band systems which depend on the roots of a simple algebraic equation. These exact formulas allow direct and accurate comparisons between theoretical results and experimentally measured quantities. In addition, …
We analytically evaluate the generating integral $K_{nl}(β,β') = \int_{0}^{\infty}\int_{0}^{\infty} e^{-βr - β' r'}G_{nl} r^{q} r'^{q'} dr dr'$ and integral moments $J_{nl}(β, r) = \int_{0}^{\infty} dr' G_{nl}(r,r') r'^{q} e^{-βr'}$ for the reduced Coulomb Green's function $G_{nl}(r,r')$ for all values of the parameters $q$ and $q'$, when the integrals are convergent. These results can be used in second-order perturbation theory to analytically obtain the complete energy spectra and local physical characteristics such as electronic densities of multi-electron atoms or ions.
We study the quantum-mechanical problem of scattering caused by a localized obstacle that breaks spatial and temporal reversibility. Accordingly, we follow Maxwell's prescription to achieve a violation of the second law of thermodynamics by means of a momentum-dependent interaction in the Hamiltonian, resulting in what is known as Maxwell's demon. We obtain the energy-dependent Green's function analytically, as well as its meromorphic structure. The poles lead directly to the solution of the evolution problem, in the spirit of M. Moshinsky's work in the 1950s. Symmetric initial conditions are …
We investigate the influence of a time dependent, homogeneous electric field on scattering properties of non-interacting electrons in an arbitrary static potential. We develop a method to calculate the (Keldysh) Green's function in two complementary approaches. Starting from a plane wave basis, a formally exact solution is given in terms of the inverse of a matrix containing infinitely many 'photoblocks' which can be evaluated approximately by truncation. In the exact eigenstate basis of the scattering potential, we obtain a version of the Floquet state theory in the Green's functions language…
Time reversal symmetry is a fundamental property of many quantum mechanical systems. The relation between statistical physics and time reversal is subtle and not all statistical theories conserve this particular symmetry, most notably hydrodynamic equations and kinetic equations such as the Boltzmann equation. In this article it is shown analytically that quantum kinetic generalizations of the Boltzmann equation that are derived using the nonequilibrium Green functions formalism as well as all approximations that stem from $Φ$-derivable selfenergies are time reversal invariant.
We study the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation and derive exact expressions for the Green function in terms of reflection coefficients which are defined for semi-infinite intervals. We also discuss the relation between our results and the WKB approximation.
We calculate eigenvalues of one-dimensional quantum-systems by the exact numerical solution of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation, analogous to the scattering problem. To illustrate our method, we treat elementary problems: the harmonic and quartic oscillator, a symmetric and a skew double-well potential, and potentials with finite and infinite depth. Furthermore, we show how our method can be used for eigenvalue-engineering.
We present the analytical solution in closed form for the semiclassical limit of the quantum mechanical Coulomb Green function in position space in n dimensions. We utilize a projection method which has its roots in Lambert's theorem and which allows us to treat the system as an essentially one dimensional problem. The semiclassical result assumes a simple analytical form and is well suited for a numerical evaluation. The method can also be extended to classically forbidden space regions. Already for moderately large principal quantum numbers nu >= 5, the semiclassical Green function is found …
Closure relations satisfied by the radial Dirac-Coulomb Sturmians are proved analytically. The Sturmian expansion of the Dirac-Coulomb Green function is transformed to the form containing only series with summations running over non-negative indices. The main paper was published in J.
