Maximal potentials, maximal singular integrals, and the spherical maximal function

We introduce a notion of maximal potentials and we prove that they form bounded operators from $L^p$ to the homogeneous Sobolev space $\dot{W}^{1,p}$ for all $n/(n-1)<p<n$. We apply this result to the problem of boundedness of the spherical maximal operator in Sobolev spaces.

$L^p$ bounds for singular integrals and maximal singular integrals with rough kernels

Convolution type Calderón-Zygmund singular integral operators with rough kernels $\pv \Om(x)/|x|^n$ are studied. A condition on $\Om$ implying that the corresponding singular integrals and maximal singular integrals map $L^p \to L^p$ for $1<p<\nf$ is obtained. This condition is shown to be different from the condition $\Om\in H^1(\sn)$.

Spherical maximal operators on radial functions

Let $A_tf(x)=\int f(x+ty)dσ(y)$ denote the spherical means in $\Bbb R^d$ ($dσ$ is surface measure on $S^{d-1}$, normalized to $1$). We prove sharp estimates for the maximal function $M_E f(x)=\sup_{t\in E}|A_tf(x)|$ where $E$ is a fixed set in $\Bbb R^+$ and $f$ is a {\it radial} function $\in L^p(\Bbb R^d)$. Let $p_d=d/(d-1)$ (the critical exponent of Stein's maximal function). For the cases (i) $p<p_d$, $d\ge 2$ and (ii) $p=p_d$, $d\ge 3$, and for $p\le q\le\infty$ we prove necessary and sufficient conditions for $L^p\to L^{p,q}$ boundedness of the operator $M_E$.

On the Korányi Spherical maximal function on Heisenberg groups

We prove $L^p\to L^q$ estimates for the local maximal operator associated with dilates of the Kóranyi sphere in Heisenberg groups. These estimates are sharp up to endpoints and imply new bounds on sparse domination for the corresponding global maximal operator. We also prove sharp $L^p\to L^q$ estimates for spherical means over the Korányi sphere, which can be used to improve the sparse domination bounds for the associated lacunary maximal operator.

Maximal operators and singular integrals on the weighted Lorentz and Morrey spaces

In this paper, we first give some new characterizations of Muckenhoupt type weights through establishing the boundedness of maximal operators on the weighted Lorentz and Morrey spaces. Secondly, we establish the boundedness of sublinear operators including many interesting in harmonic analysis and its commutators on the weighted Morrey spaces. Finally, as an application, the boundedness of strongly singular integral operators and commutators with symbols in BMO space are also given.

We prove maximal ergodic theorems for spherical averages on the Heisenberg groups acting on $L_p$ spaces over measure spaces not necessarily commutative, that is, on noncommutative $L_p$ spaces.
