Massive states (of order 10 Gev and more) of hadron string (with scale 1 Gev) can have very small coupling constants with usual baryons of the Universe. Corresponding mean times for them are found to be order and even more than the age of the Universe. They are proposed as possible candidates for weak interacting massive particles (WIMP) of Dark Matter.
In the framework of the Schwinger Model for percolating strings we establish a general relation between multiplicity and transverse momentum square distributions in hadron-hadron and heavy ion collisions. Some of our results agree with the Colour Glass Condensate model.
Descriptions of hadrons and glueballs can be constructed using strings to preserve gauge invariance. We show how this string dependence may be removed to all orders in perturbation theory.
The multiple production processes of secondary hadrons in proton-antiproton scattering are divided into three types. The first type is a shower of secondary hadrons produced from gluon string decay, the second type is a shower of secondary hadrons produced from two quark strings decay and the third is a shower produced from three quark strings decay. At the same time there are only two types for proton-proton scattering - shower from gluon string and shower from two quark strings. These showers do not correspond to pomeron showers originating from cuts of one, two, three, ... pomerons. Multipl…
We consider various hadron models with a string carrying $n=3$ massive points (quarks): Y configuration, linear baryon model $q$-$q$-$q$ and the closed string. For these models classical rotational states (planar uniform rotations) are tested for stability with respect to small disturbances. It is shown that rotations of all mentioned models are unstable, but nature of this instability is different. For the model Y the instability results from existence of multiple real frequencies in the spectrum of small disturbances, but for the linear model and the closed string the similar spectra contain…
We argue that recent NA49 results on multiparticle distributions and fluctuations, as a function of the number of participant nucleons, suggest that percolation plays an important role in particle production at high densities.
Hadrons interaction at high energies is carried out by one color gluon exchange. All quarks and gluons contained in colliding hadrons take part in interaction and production of particles. The contribution of multiple parton interactions is negligible. Multiple hadrons production at high energies occurs only in three types of processes. The first process is hadrons production in gluon string, the second is hadrons production in two quark strings and the third is hadrons production in three quark strings. In proton-proton interaction production of only gluon string and two quark strings is possi…
We argue that recent NA49 results on multiparticle distributions and fluctuations, as a function of the number of participant nucleons, suggest that percolation plays an important role in particle production at high densities.
In the hadroproduction of charm in the context of string fragmentation, the pull of a beam remnant at the other end of a string may give a charm hadron more energy than the perturbatively produced charm quark. The collapse of a low-mass string to a single hadron is the extreme case in this direction, and gives rise to asymmetries between charm and anticharm hadron spectra. We study these phenomena, and develop models that describe the characteristics not only of the charm hadrons but also of the associated event.
One of the basic assumptions of the string model is that as a result of a DIS in nucleus a single string arises, which then breaks into hadrons. However the pomeron exchange considered in this work, leads to the production of two strings in the one event. The hadrons produced in these events have smaller formation lengths, than those with the same energy produced in the single string events. As a consequence, they undergo more substantial absorption in the nuclear matter.
Nuclear attenuation of the multi-hadron systems in the string model is considered. The improved two-scale model with set of parameters obtained recently for the single hadron attenuation is used for calculation of the multiplicity ratios of the one-, two- and three-hadron systems electroproduced on nuclear and deuterium targets. The comparison of the features of the one-, two- and three-hadron systems is performed. The predictions of the model for multiplicity ratios of multi-hadron systems as functions of different convenient variables are presented.
Using the equation of state of the string model with linear strings comes close to describing the lattice QCD results and offers an explanation for the E/N = 1 GeV hadronization condition found in phenomenological statistical model. The E/N = 6T relation is derived from the zero pressure condition and is a fairly general result. The baryochemical potential dependence of the hadron gas can be met if it is re-interpreted in the framework of an additive quark model.
Nuclear attenuation of the two-hadron system is considered in the string model. The two-scale model and its improved version with two different choices of constituent formation time and sets of parameters obtained earlier for the single hadron attenuation, are used to describe available experimental data for the $z$-dependence of subleading hadron, whereas satisfactory agreement with the experimental data has been observed. A model prediction for $ν$-dependence of the nuclear attenuation of the two-hadron system is also presented.
We revisit the recipe for hadron formation in the Lund string hadronization model. Given an incoming quark or quark-diquark pair, weights for hadron formation are updated to take hyperfine splitting effects arising from the mass difference between u, d-type and s-type quarks. We find that the procedure improves the description of hadron yields in $\mathrm{e}^+\mathrm{e}^-$ collisions and the $ϕ$ cross section in neutral current DIS. We also show results for proton collisions, and discuss the future use of this study in the context of small system collectivity.
The Large Hadron Collider promises to discover new physics beyond the Standard Model. An exciting possibility is the formation of string resonances at the TeV scale. In this article, we show how string resonances may be detected at the LHC in the $pp\toγ+jet$ channel. Our study is based on event shape variables, missing energy and momentum, maximum transverse momentum of photons and dijet invariant mass. These observables provide interesting signatures which enable us to discriminate string events from the Standard Model background.
A new approach to the analysis of soft and semihard hadron processes is suggested. In the frame of the Quark-Gluon String Model the interaction of valence quarks and diquarks and sea quarks (antiquarks) of colliding hadrons is taken into account. This one is calculated as the exchange by one nonpertubative gluon, i.e., the cut-off parameter in the gluonic propagator is included. This one allows us to analise the inclusive hadron spectra in hadron collisions at transverse momenta up to 3-4 Gev/c.
We present the description of HIPPOPO (Hadron Induced Particle Production Off Pomeron Outpour), a computer code aimed at the simulation of hadron production in hadron-hadron collisions at high energies via the multipomeron exchange mechanism. We briefly remind the theoretical inputs from the Quark-Gluon String Model and give a detailed description of program components.
For the relativistic string with massive ends the small disturbances of its rotational motion (quasirotational states) are investigated. They are presented in the form of Fourier series with the two types of oscillatory modes. They have the form of stationary waves correspondently in the rotational plane and in the orthogonal direction. The calculated values of the energy and angular momentum of these states give us possibility to describe higher radial excitations for hadrons with the help of the planar quasirotational oscillatory modes of the string with massive ends.
The search for stable heavy exotic hadrons is a promising way to observe new physics processes at collider experiments. The discovery potential for such particles can be enhanced or suppressed by their interactions with detector material. This paper describes a model for the interactions in matter of stable hadrons containing an exotic quark of charges $\pm {1/3}e$ or $\pm {2/3}e$ using Regge phenomenology and the Quark Gluon String Model. The influence of such interactions on searches at the LHC is also discussed.
We consider QCD based model of hadrons interaction in which gluons density in wave function of initial state is low in rapidity space and real hadrons are produced by decay of color field strings. Hadrons production processes in pp and p antip interactions differ on principle. There are three types of inelastic processes in p antip collision. The first type is production of secondary hadrons shower from decay of gluon string. The second type is shower produced from decay of two quark strings and the third one -- from decay of three quark strings. At the same time there are only two types of in…
The properties of a helix-like shaped QCD string are studied in the context of the Lund fragmentation model, where the concept of a 3-dimensional structure of the gluon field offers an alternative aproach to the modelling of the transverse momentum of hadrons. The paper is focused on the phenomenology of the model, which introduces correlations between transverse and longitudinal components of hadrons, as well as azimuthal ordering of hadrons along the string. The similarities between 2-particle correlations stemming from the helix-string structure and those commonly attributed to the Bose-Ein…
Dynamics of a light quark in the field of static source (heavy-light meson) is studied using the nonlinear Dirac equation, derived recently. Special attention is paid to the contribution of magnetic correlators and it is found that it yields a significant increase of string tension at intermediate distances. The spectrum of heavy-light mesons is computed with account of this contribution and compared to experimental and lattice data.
The process of baryon number transfer due to string junction propagation in rapidity space is considered. It leads to a significant effect in the net baryon production in pA collisions at mid-rapidities and an even more significant effect in the forward hemisphere for the cases of πA interactions. The results of numerical calculations in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model are in reasonable agreement with the data. Special consideration is given to Λproduced in {π^-}-A collisions extracted from data of WA89 Collaboration.
In the present work, Monte-Carlo toy model with repulsing quark-gluon strings in hadron-hadron collisions is described. String repulsion creates transverse boosts for the string decay products, giving modifications of observables. As an example, long-range correlations between mean transverse momenta of particles in two observation windows are studied in MC toy simulation of the heavy-ion collisions.
Non--strongly interacting supersymmetric particles -- sleptons, charginos, neutral\-inos, and charged Higgs bosons -- are difficult to detect at the Large Hadron Collider. We therefore examine the possibility of producing particles of this type in virtual $γγ$ collisions at the LHC. Since photons can be emitted from protons which do not break up in the radiation process, very clean events can be generated, compensating to some extent for the small event numbers. Higher rates are expected, at the expense of stray hadrons, for events in which one or two protons break up.
The time dependent pion emission rate and the mean life time of the pion source in the center of mass frame of the two-jet events have been determined for $e^+-e^- \to hadrons$ at $\sqrt{s} = 20 - 50$ GeV by the Dynamical String Model. It was established that the time needed for the creation of the pion source is $5$ fm/c, whereas its life time is $τ_0 \approx 7 - 13$ fm/c for energies $\sqrt{s} = 20 - 50$ GeV, respectively.
Various string models of mesons and baryons include a string carrying 2 or 3 massive points (quarks or antiquarks). Rotational states (planar uniform rotations) of these systems generate quasilinear Regge trajectories and may be used for describing excited hadron states on these trajectories. For different string models of baryon we are to solve the problem of choice between them and the stability problem for their rotational states. An unexpected result is that for the Y string baryon model these rotations are unstable with respect to small disturbances on the classical level. This instabilit…
For the relativistic string with massive ends (the meson model) and four various string baryon models (q-qq, q-q-q, Y and $Δ$) we consider the classical quasirotational motions, which are small disturbances of the planar uniform rotations of these systems. For the string meson model the two types of these solutions are obtained. They describe oscillatory motions in the form of stationary waves in the rotational plane and in the orthogonal direction. This approach and the suggested method of determining an arbitrary motion of the system on the base of initial data let us solve the stability pro…
We construct tree-level four-particle open-string amplitudes relevant to dilepton and diphoton production at hadron colliders. We expand the amplitudes into string resonance (SR) contributions and compare the total cross-section through the first SR with the $Z^{\prime}$ search at the Tevatron. We establish a current lower bound based on the CDF Run I results on the string scale to be about $1.1-2.1$ TeV, and it can be improved to about $1.5-3$ TeV with 2 fb$^{-1}$. At the LHC, we investigate the properties of signals induced by string resonances in dilepton and diphoton processes. We demonstr…
Heavy long-lived quarks, i.e. charm and bottom, are frequently studied both as tests of QCD and as probes for other physics aspects within and beyond the standard model. The long life-time implies that charm and bottom hadrons are formed and observed. This hadronization process cannot be studied in isolation, but depends on the production environment. Within the framework of the string model, a major effect is the drag from the other end of the string that the c/b quark belongs to. In extreme cases, a small-mass string can collapse to a single hadron, thereby giving a non-universal flavour com…
We calculate the particle ratios for a strongly interacting hadronic matter matter using non-linear Walecka model (NLWM) in relativistic mean-field approximation. A comparison with Hadron Resonance Gas Model is made.
There are many models beyond the standard model which include electroweakly interacting massive particles (EWIMPs), often in the context of the dark matter. In this paper, we study the indirect search of EWIMPs using a precise measurement of the Drell-Yan cross sections at future $100\,{\rm TeV}$ hadron colliders. It is revealed that this search strategy is suitable in particular for Higgsino and that the Higgsino mass up to about $1.3\,{\rm TeV}$ will be covered at $95\,\%$ C.L. irrespective of the chargino and neutralino mass difference. We also show that the study of the Drell-Yan process p…
An empirical principle for the construction of a linear relationship between the total angular momentum and squared-mass of baryons is proposed. In order to examine linearity of the trajectories, a rigorous least-squares regression analysis was performed. Unlike the standard Regge-Chew-Frautschi approach, the constructed trajectories do not have non-linear behaviour. A similar regularity may exist for lowest-mass mesons. The linear baryonic trajectories are well described by a semi-classical picture based on a spinning relativistic string with tension. The obtained numerical solution of this m…
It is known, since the 70's, that the large N 't Hooft limit of gauge theories is related to string theories. In 1998, J. M. Maldacena identified precisely such a relation: the so-called AdS/CFT correspondence which speculates a duality between a large N strongly-coupled supersymmetric and conformal Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions and a weakly-coupled string theory defined in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter AdS space-time. This review aims at introducing concepts and methods used to derive, in the framework of the gauge/string correspondence, the interaction potentials of mesons and bar…
An overview of some issues discussed is given, including the following ones: (i) the mechanism of confinement, (ii) the structure of the string, (iii) non-perturbative glue in vacuum and hadrons, and (v) quark-hadron duality. In doing so I try to indicate issues important for JLab. Finally I discuss another issue debated during this conference, namely (vi) whether one can use some common effective potential for description of various hadrons, using heavy quarkonia as an example.
The charged particles multiplicity distribution in the KNO form is discussed in processes of $e^+e^-$ annihilation at energies $\sqrt{s}$ 14 -- 206.2 GeV. The experimental data are compared to data, obtained with Monte Carlo simulation in PYTHIA in the Lund quark string model. It is shown, that both experimental and simulated data are described by the same distribution function in the KNO form. It is shown, that the KNO scaling is consequence of quark string hadronization dynamics in the Lund string model.
An exotic approach to hadrons is discussed. It is based on the recently developed open-closed string duality explicitly conjectured as the AdS/CFT correspondence. Mesons as well as pentaquarks are studied in this approach. Spins are introduced as distribution functions over the string, and a second quantization method of string theory is examined and used to estimate the mass and decay width of various hadrons. This approach provides a way to understand the structure of flavor by a configuration of probe branes.
The quantum properties of a helix-like shaped QCD string are studied in the context of the semi-classical Lund fragmentation model. It is shown how simple quantization rules combined with the causality considerations in the string fragmentation process describe the mass hierarchy of light pseudoscalar mesons. The quantized helix string model predicts observable quantum effects related to the threshold behaviour of the intrinsic transverse momentum of hadrons, and of the minimal transverse momentum difference between adjacent hadrons. The numerical fit of the properties of the QCD field breakin…
New developments in holographic QCD are described in this talk in the context of the correspondence between string states in AdS and light-front wavefunctions of hadronic states in physical space-time.
It is shown that the fusion of strings is a source of particle production in nucleus--nucleus collisions outside the kinematical limits of nucleon--nucleon collisions. The spectrum of different particles is compared with the high energy data on p--A collisions obtaining a reasonable agreement. Results for A--B collisions at $\sqrt{s}=19.4$ AGeV and $\sqrt{s}=200$ AGeV are given. It is shown that the fusion of strings can accelerate particles up to the highest energy detected in cosmic rays without help of any additional cosmic accelerator. Also the rise of the average shower depth of maximun f…
Color flux tubes (quark-gluon strings), formed at early stages of hadron-hadron collisions, may overlap in case of sufficiently high densities and interact, producing long-range azimuthal correlations. In the hypothesis of repulsive interaction, each string may acquire, before the hadronization, the additional transverse boost, which is an efficient sum of all accounted string-string interactions. This modifies transverse momenta to the particles formed in string decay, leading to modification of event-wise observables, like azimuthal asymmetry of two-particle correlations, over a wide range o…
A fragmenting relativistic string is widely used for modelling particle production via quark-gluon strings formed in hadron inelastic interactions of high energies. In this note we focus on motion and fragmentation of relativistic string with non-zero transverse separation of its ends and study this scenario as a possible mechanism bringing anisotropy into the asimuthal angle disribution of produced particles in inelastic interactions of hadrons.
Motivated by recent discoveries of flow-like effects in pp collisions, and noting that multiple string systems can form and hadronize simultaneously in such collisions, we develop a simple model for the repulsive interaction between two Lund strings with a positive (colour-oriented) overlap in rapidity. The model is formulated in momentum space and is based on a postulate of a constant net transverse momentum being acquired per unit of overlap along a common rapidity direction. To conserve energy, the strings shrink in the longitudinal direction, essentially converting a portion of the string …
We have studied the quark-hadron phase transition with RMFT motivated equation of state for a strongly interacting hadronic sector and lattice motivated equation of state for weakly interacting QGP sector. The interactions in hadronic sector are dominated by the exchange of scalar and vector mesons (σ_ σ, ω, ρ, ϕ) thereby allowing this phase to be modeled by the interacting baryonic, pionic and Kaonic fields. The pionic and Kaonic fields are incorporated on equal footing to baryonic field rather than including pions and Kaons as exchange particles only. The effect of interactions on quark-hadr…
There are many extensions of the standard model that predict the existence of electroweakly interacting massive particles (EWIMPs), in particular in the context of the dark matter. In this paper, we provide a way for indirectly studying EWIMPs through the precise study of the pair production processes of charged leptons or that of a charged lepton and a neutrino at future 100 TeV collider experiments. It is revealed that this search method is suitable in particular for Higgsino, providing us the $5σ$ discovery reach of Higgsino in supersymmetric model with mass up to 850 GeV. We also discuss h…
We explore the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider to access a strongly interacting electroweak symmetry breaking sector via weak boson scattering with WWjj, ZZjj and WZjj final states. As examples of models with scalar or vector resonances we concentrate on a scenario with a heavy Higgs boson and on a Warped Higgsless Kaluza-Klein model of narrow spin-one resonances. The signal and the most prominent background processes are evaluated using exact tree-level matrix elements including full off-shell and finite width effects for final states with two tagging jets and four leptons. Using …
If the ``glue'' which binds quarks within hadrons takes the form of strings, then a virial theorem may be derived which shows how the total hadron four momentum splits up into a quark contribution plus a glue contribution. The hadrons made up of light quarks exhibit an equipartion of four momentum into equal parts quarks and glue. The agreement with the experimental ``parton'' distribution four momentum sum rule is quite satisfactory as is the string fragmentation model.
We compute the one-loop string corrections to the Wilson loop, glueball Regge trajectory and stringy hadron masses in the Witten model of non supersymmetric, large-N Yang-Mills theory. The classical string configurations corresponding to the above field theory objects are respectively: open straight strings, folded closed spinning strings, and strings orbiting in the internal part of the supergravity background. For the rectangular Wilson loop we show that besides the standard Luescher term, string corrections provide a rescaling of the field theory string tension. The one-loop corrections to …
We study deep inelastic scattering at large-'t Hooft coupling and finite $x$ from gauge/string duality beyond single-hadron final states which gives the leading large-$N_c$ contribution. Within the supergravity approximation, we calculate the subleading large-$N_c$ contribution by introducing an extra hadron into the final states. We find the contribution from these double-hadron final states will dominate in the Bjorken limit $q^2\rightarrow \infty$ compared with the single-hadron states. We discuss the implications of our results.
We present, in the framework of the interacting hadron resonance gas, an evaluation of thermodynamical quantities. The interaction is modelled via a correction for the finite size of the hadrons. We investigate the sensitivity of the model calculations on the radius of the hadrons, which is a parameter of the model. Our calculations for thermodynamical quantities as energy and entropy densities and pressure are confronted with predictions using the lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) formalism.
We compute the inclusive spectrum of produced particles in e+e- annihilation in confining gauge theories that have a gravity dual and show that the momentum distribution exhibits the thermal behavior.
The dynamics of partons, hadrons and strings in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions is analyzed within the novel Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach, which is applied to Pb+Pb collisions from 20 to 160 A GeV in order to explore the space-time regions of 'partonic matter'. We find that even central collisions at the top-SPS energy of 158 A GeV show a large fraction of non-partonic, i.e. hadronic or string-like matter, which can be viewed as a hadronic corona. Furthermore, we observe that the partonic phase has a very low impact on rapidity distributions of hadrons but a …
We examine the effects of color screening on the transition of a parton plasma into a hadron gas at RHIC energies. It is found that as expected, color screening posed itself as a significant barrier for hadronization. Parton-hadron conversion would therefore be delayed and prolonged when compared to that occuring in a vacuum. Due to the on-going expansion, the resulting hadron densities are lowered. Parton equilibration is also shown to be seriously disrupted in the process.
The Hadron-Resonance Gas (HRG) approach - used to model hadronic matter at small baryon potentials $μ_B$ and finite temperature $T$ - is extended to finite and large chemical potentials by introducing interactions between baryons in line with relativistic mean-field theory defining an interacting HRG (IHRG). Using lattice data for $μ_B=0$ as well as information on the nuclear equation of state at $T=0$ we constrain the attractive and repulsive interactions of the IHRG such that it reproduces the lattice equation of state at $μ_B=0$ and the nuclear equation of state at $T=0$ and finite $μ_B$. T…
Holography inspired stringy hadrons (HISH) is a set of models that describe hadrons: mesons, baryons and glueballs as strings in four dimensional space time. The models are based on a "map" from stringy hadrons of holographic confining backgrounds. In this note we review the "derivation" of the models. We start with a brief reminder of the passage from the AdS5xS5 string theory to certain flavored confining holographic models. We then describe the string configurations in holographic backgrounds that correspond to a Wilson line,a meson,a baryon and a glueball. The key ingredients of the four d…
Enhancement in strangeness yields in heavy-ion collisions is regarded as one of the attributes of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) along with jet quenching and final-state collectivity. To reproduce these effects in the MC implementation of the Lund string model in \pythia, the inclusion of non-perturbative mechanisms like string shoving and rope hadronization is crucial. In this proceeding, we discuss our latest implementation of these mechanisms and the preliminary results for the strangeness enhancement in high-multiplicity p-p, p-Pb and Xe-Xe. We conclude with remarks on the ongoing developmen…
In this paper we discuss the interacting hadron resonance gas model in presence of a constant external magnetic field. The short range repulsive interaction between hadrons are accounted through van der Waals excluded volume correction to the ideal gas pressure. Here we take the sizes of hadrons as $r_π$ (pion radius) $= 0$ fm, $r_K$ (kaon radius) $= 0.35$ fm, $r_m$ (all other meson radii) $= 0.3$ fm and $r_b$ (baryon radii) $= 0.5$ fm. We analyse the effect of uniform background magnetic field on the thermodynamic properties of interacting hadron gas. We especially discuss the effect of inter…
