The gauge/gravity duality is used to investigate the imaginary part of the heavy quark potential (defined via the rectangular Wilson loop) in strongly coupled plasmas. This quantity can be used to estimate the width of heavy quarkonia in a plasma at strong coupling. In this paper the thermal worldsheet fluctuation method, proposed in [J.Noronha and A.Dumitru, Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.\ {\bf 103}, 152304 (2009)], is revisited and general conditions for the existence of an imaginary part for the heavy quark potential computed within classical gravity models are obtained. We prove a general result that establishes the connection between this imaginary part of the potential determined holographically and the area law displayed by the Wilson loop in the vacuum of confining gauge theories. We also determine the imaginary part of the heavy quark potential in a strongly coupled plasma dual to Gauss-Bonnet gravity. This provides an estimate of how the thermal width of heavy quarkonia changes with the shear viscosity to entropy density ratio, $η/s$, at strong coupling.
Quarkonia are some of the most important probes of the medium created in relativistic heavy ion collision experiments, but it is still difficult to get quantitative results for its behavior in the plasma. Here I discuss the decay width of a heavy quarkonium system, and calculate the gluodissociation width of bottomonia. In the end I comment on study of quarkonia as open quantum systems.
We estimate the thermal width of a heavy quark anti-quark pair inside a strongly coupled plasma using a holographic AdS/QCD model. The imaginary part of the quark potential that produces the thermal width appears in the gravity dual from quantum fluctuations of the string world sheet in the vicinity of the horizon. The results, obtained using a soft wall background that involves an infrared mass scale, are consistent with previous analisys where the mass scale was introduced by averaging over quark anti-quark states.
By simulating the finite temperatures magnetized background in the RHIC and LHC energies, we systematically study the characteristics of thermal widths and potentials of heavy quarkonia. It is found that the magnetic field has less influence on the real potential, but has a significant influence on the imaginary potential, especially in the low deconfined temperature. Extracted from the effect of thermal worldsheet fluctuations about the classical configuration, the thermal width of $Υ(1s)$ in the finite temperature magnetized background is investigated. It is found that at the low deconfined …
Within the framework of nonrelativistic quark-antiquark Cornell potential model formalism, we study the annihilation of heavy quarkonia. We determine their annihilation widths resulting into digluon, dilepton, $3γ$, $3g$ and $γgg$ and compare our findings with the available theoretical results and experimental data. We also provide the charge radii and absolute square of radial Schrödinger wave function at zero quark-antiquark separation for heavy quarkonia and $B_c$ mesons.
A nonrelativistic Hamiltonian with plausible spin dependent corrections is proposed for the quarkonia below their respective strong decay thresholds. With only six free parameters this model reproduces the nine known masses of the bottomonia within about 1 MeV, the six known masses of the charmonia within a few MeV and the five known leptonic decay widths of the ${}^3S_1$ states within about {20 %}. The model is then used to predict the masses of the remaining 43 quarkonia (some of them for the first time) and of the leptonic decay widths of the two ${}^1S_0(\bar{b}c)$ states. Comparison with …
Some of the non-relativistic QQ/bar interaction potentials and its isospectral partner-potentials have been employed to evaluate the masses and leptonic decay widths of Charmonium and Upsilon states. An attempt has been made to develop a prescription to provide a simultaneous fit to Masses and leptonic decay widths of Quarkonia. Preliminary calculation shows that the class of isospectral-potentials corresponding to: V(r)= -(alphas/r)+ar^n appears to yield the desired results. The various associated theoretical and phenomenological issues are discussed in light of recent data. The possible rela…
We revisit the transport coefficients of heavy quarkonia moving in high-temperature QCD plasmas. The thermal width and mass shift for heavy quarkonia are closely related to the momentum diffusion coefficient and its dispersive counterpart for heavy quarks, respectively. For quarkonium at rest in plasmas the longitudinal gluon part of the color-singlet self-energy diagram is sufficient to determine the leading-order thermal width, whereas the momentum dependence is obtained from the transverse gluon channel. Using the quarkonium-gluon effective vertex based on the dipole interaction of color ch…
The velocity dependence of the thermal width of heavy quarkonia traveling with respect to the quark gluon plasma is calculated up to the NLO in perturbative QCD. At the LO, the width decreases with increasing speed, whereas at the NLO it increases with a magnitude approximately proportional to the expectation value of the relative velocity between the quarkonium and a parton in thermal equilibrium. Such an asymptotic behavior is due to the NLO dissociation cross section converging to a nonvanishing value in the high energy limit.
We calculate the dynamical relativistic corrections, originating from radiative one-gluon-exchange, to the leptonic decay width of heavy quarkonia in the framework of a covariant formulation of Light-Front Dynamics. Comparison with the non-relativistic calculations of the leptonic decay width of J=1 charmonium and bottomonium S-ground states shows that relativistic corrections are large. Most importantly, the calculation of these dynamical relativistic corrections legitimate a perturbative expansion in $α_s$, even in the charmonium sector. This is in contrast with the ongoing belief based on c…
We improve the pNRQCD approach to annihilation processes of heavy quarkonium and make first pNRQCD predictions for exclusive electromagnetic production of heavy quarkonium. We consider strongly coupled quarkonia, i.e., quarkonia that are not Coulombic bound states. Possible strongly coupled quarkonia include excited charmonium and bottomonium states. For these, pNRQCD provides expressions for the decay and exclusive electromagnetic production NRQCD matrix elements that depend on the wavefunctions at the origin and few universal gluon field correlators. We compute electromagnetic decay widths a…
The heavy quarkonia (Charmonium \(c\bar{c}\) and Bottomonium \(b\bar{b}\)) are investigated in the framework of the instantaneous BS-equation (Salpeter equation). We parametrize confinement alternatively by a linearly rising scalar or a vector interaction kernel and take into account the one-gluon-exchange (OGE) interaction in the instantaneous approximation. Mass spectra as well as leptonic, two-photon, E1 and M1 decay widths are calculated. Our results show that a reasonable description of the experimental data can be obtained with both spin structures for the confining kernel. The relativis…
Agreement with the measured electronic widths of the $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4415)$, and $Υ(11019)$ resonances is shown to be reached if two effects are taken into account: a flattening of the confining potential at large distances and a total screening of the gluon-exchange interaction at $r\ga 1.2$ fm. The leptonic widths of the unobserved $Υ(7S)$ and $ψ(5S)$ resonances: $Γ_{e^+e^-}(Υ(7S))=0.11$ keV and $Γ(ψ(5S))\approx 0.54$ keV are predicted.
The electromagnetic radiative transition widths for heavy quarkonia, as well as digamma and digluon decay widths, are computed in the framework of the extended harmonic confinement model (ERHM) and Coulomb plus power potential (CPP$_ν$) with varying potential index $ν$. The outcome is compared with the values obtained from other theoretical models and experimental results. While the mass spectra, digamma and digluon widths from ERHM as well as CPP$_{ν=1}$ are in good agreement with experimental data, the electromagnetic transition widths span over a wide range for the potential models consider…
In this work we study the radiative decay widths of vector quarkonia for the process of $J/ψ(nS)\rightarrowη_{c}(nS)γ$ and $Υ(nS)\rightarrowη_{b}(nS)γ$ (for principal quantum numbers $n=1, 2, 3$) in the framework of Bethe-Salpeter equation under the covariant instantaneous ansatz using a $4\times 4$ form of BSE. The parameters of the framework were determined by a fit to the mass spectrum of ground states of pseudoscalar and vector quarkonia, such as; $η_{c}$, $η_{b}$, $J/ψ$ and $Υ$. These input parameters so fixed were found to give good agreements with data on mass spectra of ground and exci…
Recently a lot of progress has been made in deriving the heavy quark potential within a QCD medium. In this article we have considered heavy quarkonium in a hot quark gluon plasma phase. The heavy-quark potential has been modeled properly for short as well as long distances. The potential at long distances is modeled as a QCD string which is screened at the same scale as the Coloumb field. We have numerically solved the 1+1-dimensional Schrodinger equation for this potential and obtained the eigen wavefunction and binding energy for the $1S$ and $2S$ states of charmonium and bottomonium. Furth…
The two photon transition of $\bar{c}c$ quarkonia are studied within a covariant approach based on the consistent truncation scheme of the quantum chromodynamics Dyson-Schwinger equation for the quark propagator and the Bethe--Salpeter equation for the mesons. We find the decay widths of $η_{c}^{} \to γγ$ and $χ_{c0,2}^{} \to γγ$ in good agreement with experimental data. The obtained transition form factor of $η_{c}^{} \to γγ^{\ast}$ for a wide range of space-like photon momentum transfer squared is also in agreement with the experimental findings of the BABAR experiment. As a by-product, the …
Recent lattice calculations showed that the quarkonia will survive beyond the phase transition temperature, and will dissolve at different temperatures depending on the type of the quarkonium. In this work, we calculate the thermal width of the quarkonium at finite temperature before it dissolves into open heavy quarks. The input of the calculation are the parton quarkonium dissociation cross section to NLO in QCD, the quarkonium wave function in a temperature-dependent potential from lattice QCD, and a thermal distribution of partons with thermal masses. We find that for the J/psi, the total …
Properties of quarkonia - like states in the charm and bottom sector have been studied in the frame work of relativistic Dirac formalism with a linear confinement potential. We have computed the mass spectroscopy and decay properties (vector decay constant and leptonic decay width) of several quarkonia - like states. Present study is also intended to identify some of the unexplained states as mixed P-wave and mixed S-D wave states of Charmonia and Bottomonia. The results indicate that the X(4140) state can be an admixture of two P states of charmonium. And the charmonium like states X(4630) an…
From the AdS/CFT correspondence, the effects of charge and finite 't Hooft coupling correction on the thermal width of a heavy quarkonium are investigated. To study the charge effect, we consider Maxwell charge which is interpreted as quark medium. In the case of finite 't Hooft coupling corrections, $\mathcal{R}^4$ terms and Gauss-Bonnet gravity have been considered, respectively. It is shown that these corrections affect the thermal width. It is also argued that by decreasing the 't Hooft coupling, the thermal width becomes effectively smaller. Interestingly, this is similar to analogous cal…
We report on our recent evaluation of the two-photon width of the pseudoscalar quarkonia, eta_c(nS) and eta_b(nS) in an approach based on Heavy-Quark Spin Symmetry (HQSS). To what concerns the 1S state eta_c, our parameter-free computation agrees with experiments, as well as most of other theoretical works. On the other hand, our computation for the 2S-state looks 2S like a confirmation that there may exist an anomaly related to the decay of eta_c(2S), especially in the light of the new preliminary result of the Belle collaboration. We also point out that the essentially model-independent rati…
Decay rates of quarkonia are studied within the framework of NRQCD formalism. The basic parameters of the formalism have been obtained from different potential schemes studied for the spectra of quarkonia. We estimate the heavy quarkonia mass spectra, radiative and leptonic widths and compare them with other contemporary theoretical approaches and experimental results.
The melting of a heavy quark-antiquark bound state depends on the screening phenomena associated with the binding energy, as well as scattering phenomena associated with the imaginary part of the potential. We study the imaginary part of the static potential of heavy quarkonia moving in the strongly coupled plasma. The imaginary potential dependence on the velocity of the traveling bound states is calculated. Non-zero velocity leads to increase of the absolute value of the imaginary potential. The enhancement is stronger when the quarkonia move orthogonal to the quark-gluon plasma maximizing t…
In this paper, we consider the possibility that Y(4260), Y(4360), $ ψ(4415) $ or X(4660) is the ground state or the first excited state of a hybrid charmonium and examine whether $ Υ( 10860) $ is the ground state or the first excited state of a hybrid bottomonium. Under a constituent quark model, we carry out numerical calculations to obtain the spectra of both electric gluon and magnetic gluon hybrid quarkonia. We see that the ground state of a magnetic gluon hybrid charmonium and the first excited state of an electric gluon hybrid are comparable in energy to $ ψ(4415) $ and that the first ex…
We study the effect of finite 't Hooft coupling corrections on the imaginary potential and the thermal width of a moving heavy quarkonium from the AdS/CFT correspondence. To study these corrections, we consider $\mathcal{R}^4$ terms and Gauss$-$Bonnet gravity. We conclude that the imaginary potential of a moving or static heavy quarkonium starts to be generated for smaller distances of quark and antiquark. Similar to the case of static heavy quarkonium, it is shown that by considering the corrections the thermal width becomes effectively smaller. The results are compared with analogous calcula…
Based on Martin like potential, the S-wave masses of quarkonia have been reviewed. Resultant wave functions at zero inter quark separation are employed to compute the hyperfine splitting of the nS states and the leptonic and digamma decay widths of $n{^3S_1}$ and $n{^1S_0}$ states of quarkonia respectively. Analysis on the level differences of S-wave excited states of quantum mechanical bound systems show a systematic behaviour as n-increases. In view of such systematic behaviour expected for quarkonia, we observe that Y(4263) and X(4630) $1^{--}$ states are closer to the 4S and 6S states whil…
A generalized Cho-Faddeev-Niemi ansatz for SU(3) Yang-Mills is investigated. The corresponding classical field equations are solved for its simplest parametrization. From these solutions it is possible to define a confining central non-relativistic potential used to study heavy quarkonia. The associated spectra reproduces the experimental spectra with an error of less than 3% for charmonium and 1% for bottomonium. Moreover, the recently discovered new charmonium states can be accomodate in the spectra, keeping the same level of precision. The leptonic width show good agreement with the recent …
We calculate the annihilation decay widths of spin-singlet heavy quarkonia $h_c, h_b$ and $η_b$} into light hadrons with both QCD and relativistic corrections at order $O(α_{s}v^{2})$ in nonrelativistic QCD. With appropriate estimates for the long-distance matrix elements by using the potential model and operator evolution method, we find that our predictions of these decay widths are consistent with recent experimental measurements. We also find that the $O(α_{s}v^{2})$ corrections are small for $b\bar{b}$ states but substantial for $c\bar{c}$ states. In particular, the negative contribution …
The $η$ production in the $(n,n')$ bottomonium transitions $Υ(n) \to Υ(n') η, $ is studied in the method used before for dipion heavy quarkonia transitions. The widths $Γ_η(n,n')$ are calculated without fitting parameters for $n=2,3,4,5, n'=1$.Resulting $Γ_η(4,1)$ is found to be large in agreement with recent data.
The mechanism of channel coupling via decay products is used to study energy shifts, level mixing as well as the possibility of new near-threshold resonances in $c\bar c, b\bar b$ systems. The Weinberg eigenvalue method is formulated in the multichannel problems, which allows to describe coupled-channel resonances and wave functions in a unitary way, and to predict new states due to channel coupling. Realistic wave functions for all single-channel states and decay matrix elements computed earlier are exploited, and no new fitting parameters are involved. Examples of level shifts, widths and mi…

We study the properties of heavy quarkonia in a quark-gluon plasma in the presence of bulk viscous effects. Within the hard thermal loop approximation at one-loop, the dielectric permittivity of quark-gluon plasma is computed, where the bulk viscous effect enters through the deformation of the distribution functions of thermal quarks and gluons. Based on the modified dielectric permittivity, we compute the in-medium heavy quark potential, that includes non-pertubative string-like terms as well as the perturbative Coulombic term. We discuss how the bulk viscous effect modifies the real and imag…
In this work we study the radiative decays of heavy-light quarkonia through M1 and E1 transitions, that involve quark-triangle diagrams with two hadron vertices, and are difficult to evaluate in BSE-CIA. We have expressed the transition amplitude, $M_{fi}$ as a linear superposition of terms involving all possible combinations of $++$, and $--$ components of Salpeter wave functions of final and initial hadron, with coefficients being related to results of pole integrals over complex $σ$- plane. We evaluate the decay widths for $M1$ transitions ($^3S_1 \rightarrow ^1S_0 +γ$), and $E1$ transition…
Extensively applied to both light and heavy meson decay and standing as one of the most successful strong decay models is the $^{3}P_{0}$ model, in which $q\bar{q}$ pair production is the dominant mechanism. In this paper we evaluate strong decay amplitudes and partial widths of strange $S$ and $D$ state mesons, namely $ ϕ(1020)$, $ϕ(1680) $, $ ϕ(2050) $, $ϕ_1 (1850) $, $ϕ_2 (1850) $ and $ ϕ_3 (1850) $, in the bound-state corrected $^{3}P_{0}$ decay model (C$^{3}P_{0}$). The C$^{3}P_{0}$ model is obtained in the context of the Fock-Tani formalism, which is a mapping technique.
Partial decay widths and branching fractions are calculated for the exclusive decays of the Standard Model Higgs boson into a pair of vector quarkonium states, $ H\to J/ψJ/ψ, H\to ΥΥ, H\to J/ψϕ, H\to J/ψΥ$, with relativistic corrections due to quark motion in mesons taken into account.
Although individual levels of toponium will be unobservable, the top--anti--top system near threshold fulfills all requirements of a rigorous perturbation theory in QCD for weakly bound systems. Corresponding techniques from positronium may thus be transferred successfully to this case. After clarifying the effect of a non-zero width we calculate the $t\bar{t}$ potential to be used for the calculation of e.g. the cross-sections near threshold.
Master equations of the Lindblad type have recently been derived to describe the dynamics of quarkonium states in the quark-gluon plasma. Because their full resolution in three dimensions is very challenging, the equations are often reduced to one dimension. The main ingredient of these equations is the complex potential that describes the binding of the heavy quark-antiquark pairs and their interactions with the medium. In this work, we propose a one-dimensional complex potential parameterized to reproduce at best two key properties -- the temperature-dependent masses of the eigenstates and t…
By the use of the gauge/gravity duality, we calculate the imaginary part of heavy quarkonium potential and thermal width with the effect of gluon condensate which is absent in AdS$_{5}$ background. Our results show that the dropping gluon condensate reduces the absolute value of imaginary potential and therefore decreases the thermal width both in "exact" and "approximate" approach implying that the heavy quarkonium has a weaker bound with the increase of gluon condensate. In addition, the thermal width will disappear at a critical condensate value, which indicates the dissociation of quarkoni…
The $η$ production in the $(n,n')$ bottomonium transitions $Υ(n) \to Υ(n') η, $ is studied in the method used before for dipion heavy quarkonia transitions. The widths $Γ_η(n,n')$ are calculated without fitting parameters for $n=2,3,4,5, n'=1$. Resulting $Γ_η(4,1)$ is found to be large in agreement with recent data. Multipole expansion method is shown to be inadequate for large size systems considered.

The radiative spin-flip transition rates of heavy quarkonium states depend sensitively on the matrix elements of the effective confining interaction through the associated two-quark exchange current operator. The Hamiltonian model based on a scalar linear confining interaction with a single gluon exchange hyperfine term is shown to provide an adequate description of the $J/ψ\to η_cγ$ and $ψ(2S)\to η_cγ$ decay widths once the relativistic single quark magnetic moment operator is treated without approximation and the exchange current is taken into account. Predictions are given for the radiative…
We examine the electronic width ratios of Upsilon resonances below the BBbar threshold by means of an effective (Cornell-type) QCD potential incorporating 1/m_b corrections obtained from a prior fit to the bottomonium spectrum. From our analysis we conclude that the Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) states should belong to the strong-coupling (nonperturbative) regime while the Upsilon(1S) state should belong to the weak-coupling (perturbative) regime, in agreement with a previous study based on radiative decays.
We revisit the calculation of the width for the radiative decay of a $1^{+-}$ heavy $Q \bar Q$ meson via the channel $1^{+-} \to 0^{-+} +γ$ in the covariant light-front quark model. We carry out the reduction of the light-front amplitude in the non-relativistic limit, explicitly computing the leading and next-to-leading order relativistic corrections. This shows the consistency of the light-front approach with the non-relativistic formula for this electric dipole transition. Furthermore, the theoretical uncertainty in the predicted width is studied as a function of the inputs for the heavy qua…
The decay rates of $c\bar{c}$ and $b\bar{b}$ through two-photon or two-gluon annihilations are obtained by using totally relativistic decay amplitudes and a sophisticated quantum-chromodynamic potential model for heavy quarkonia. Our results for the photonic and gluonic widths of the 1S0, 3P0, and the 3P2 states are in excellent agreement with the available experimental data. The procedures and mathematical techniques used by us for the treatment of the fermion-antifermion bound states are also applicable to other decay processes.
The decay widths of top quark to S-wave $b\bar{c}$ and $b\bar{b}$ bound states are evaluated at the next-to-leading(NLO) accuracy in strong interaction. Numerical calculation shows that the NLO corrections to these processes are remarkable. The quantum chromodynamics(QCD) renormalization scale dependence of the results are obviously depressed, and hence the uncertainties lying in the leading order calculation are reduced.
We study the mass shifts of the charmonium ($\bar{c}c$) states ($J/ψ$, $ψ(2S)$, $ψ(1D)$, $χ_{c0}$, $χ_{c1}$ and $χ_{c2}$) as well as the bottomonium ($\bar{b}b$) states ($Υ(1S)$, $Υ(2S)$, $Υ_2(1D)$, $χ_{b0}$, $χ_{b1}$ and $χ_{b2}$) in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter. These are investigated using a generalized linear sigma model. The broken scale invariance of QCD is incorporated in the chiral $SU(2)\times SU(2)$ Lagrangian through an effective potential involving logarithmic terms of a scalar (glueball) dilaton field $χ$. The mass shifts of the quarkonium states are obtained through the medi…
We present a calculation of the two-photon and two-gluon widths for the equal mass quarkonium states $^1S_0$, $^3P_0$ and $^3P_2$ of the charmonium and upsilon systems. The approach taken is based on using the full relativistic $q\bar{q}\to\ga\ga$ amplitude together with a wave function derived from the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equation. Momentum space radial wave functions obtained from an earlier fit of the charmonium and upsilon spectra are used to evaluate the necessary integrals.
We study the properties of quarkonia inside a bulk-viscous quark gluon plasma. The non-equilibrium nature of the medium is encoded in the deformed distribution functions of thermal quarks and gluons, with which we compute the dielectric permittivity within the hard thermal loop approximation at one-loop. The modified dielectric permittivity is used to calculate the in-medium heavy quark potential, and using the potential we compute spectral functions, which reflect the physical properties of heavy quarkonia. We discuss how the bulk viscous effect influences quantities such as binding energies …
Heavy quarkonium production in ultra-peripheral nuclear collisions (UPC) is described within the QCD dipole formalism. Realistic quarkonium wave functions in the $Q\bar Q$ rest frame are calculated by solving the Schrödinger equation with a subsequent Lorentz boost to high energy. We rely on several realistic $Q\bar Q$ potentials, which allow to describe well the quarkonium masses and decay widths, as well as data on diffractive electroproduction of quarkonia on protons. Nuclear effects are calculated with the phenomenological dipole cross sections fitted to DIS data. The higher twist quark sh…
This work is an extension of our previous work in \cite{bhatnagar20} to calculate M1 transitions, $0^{-+}\rightarrow 1^{--} γ$, and E1 transitions involving axial vector mesons such as, $1^{+-} \rightarrow 0^{-+}γ$, and $0^{-+}\rightarrow 1^{+-} γ$ for which very little data is available as of now. We make use of the general structure of the transition amplitude, $M_{fi}$ derived in our previous work \cite{bhatnagar20} as a linear superposition of terms involving all possible combinations of $++$, and $--$ components of Salpeter wave functions of final and initial hadrons. In the present work,…
We use the AdS/CFT correspondence to show that the heavy quark (static) potential in a strongly-coupled plasma develops an imaginary part at finite temperature. Thus, deeply bound heavy quarkonia states acquire a small nonzero thermal width when the t'Hooft coupling $λ=g^2 N_c \gg 1$ and the number of colors $N_c \to \infty$. In the dual gravity description, this imaginary contribution comes from thermal fluctuations around the bottom of the classical sagging string in the bulk that connects the heavy quarks located at the boundary. We predict a strong suppression of $Υ$'s in heavy-ion collisi…
Quarkonium suppression is one of the most investigated probes of the medium produced in heavy-ion collisions. In this thesis we extend the well-established and successful zero temperature framework of Non-Relativistic (NR) Effective Field Theories (EFTs) (NRQCD, pNRQCD) for the study of heavy quarkonia (production, spectroscopy, decays, ...) to finite temperatures. This is achieved by integrating out in sequence the scales that characterize a NR bound state and those that are typical of a thermal medium, in the possible hierarchies that are relevant for quarkonia in the quark-gluon plasma. Wit…
We have investigated the effects of strong magnetic field on the properties of quarkonia immersed in a thermal medium of quarks and gluons and studied its quasi-free dissociation due to the Landau-damping. Thermalizing the Schwinger propagator in the lowest Landau levels for quarks and the Feynman propagator for gluons in real-time formalism, we have calculated the resummed retarded and symmetric propagators, which in turn give the real and imaginary components of dielectric permittivity, respectively. The magnetic field affects the large-distance interaction more than the short-distance inter…
In the framework of a newly developed factorization formalism which is based on NRQCD, explicit cancellations are shown for the infrared divergences that appeared in the previously calculated hadronic annihilation decay rates of P-wave and D-wave heavy quarkonia. We extend them to a more general case that to leading order in $v^2$ and next-to-leading order in $α_s$, the infrared divergences in the annihilation amplitudes of color-singlet $Q\bar{Q}(^{2S+1}L_J)$ pair can be removed by including the contributions of color-octet operators $Q\bar{Q}(^{2S+1}(L-1)_{J'})$, $Q\bar{Q}(^{2S+1}(L-3)_{J''}…
