By assuming that Y(4260) either is a $D_1\bar{D}$ molecular state, or has sizeable couplings with $D_0 \bar{D}^*$ and $D_1^\prime \bar{D}$, we investigate several decay modes of Y(4260). Under the special kinematic configurations, triangle singularity (TS) may occur in the rescattering amplitude, which will significantly change the threshold behavior. Obvious threshold enhancements or narrow cusp structures appear quite naturally without introducing a genuine resonance. We emphasize that the radiative decay modes may be useful for studying $D^{(*)}\bar{D}$ $S$-wave scattering.
We explore the would-be consequences of a low value of the CP-violating phase $\sin2β_{ψK}$. The importance of a reference triangle obtained from measurements that are independent of $B$--$\bar B$ and $K$--$\bar K$ mixing is stressed. It can be used to extract separately potential New Physics contributions to mixing in the $B_d$, $B_s$ and $K$ systems. We discuss several constructions of this triangle, which will be feasible in the near future. The discrete ambiguity is at most two-fold and eventually can be completely removed. Simultaneously, it will be possible to probe for New Physics in lo…
We explore the potential of future cryogenic direct detection experiments to determine the properties of the mediator that communicates the interactions between dark matter and nuclei. Due to their low thresholds and large exposures, experiments like CRESST-III, SuperCDMS SNOLAB and EDELWEISS-III will have excellent capability to reconstruct mediator masses in the MeV range for a large class of models. Combining the information from several experiments further improves the parameter reconstruction, even when taking into account additional nuisance parameters related to background uncertainties…
QCD exhibits complex dynamics near S-wave two-body thresholds. For light mesons, we see this in the failure of quark models to explain the $f_0(500)$ and $K_0^*(700)$ masses. For charmonium, an unexpected $X(3872)$ state appears at the open charm threshold. In heavy-light systems, analogous threshold effects appear for the lowest $J^P = 0^+$ and $1^+$ states in the $D_s$ and $B_s$ systems. Here we describe how lattice QCD can be used to understand these threshold dynamics by smoothly varying the strange-quark mass when studying the heavy-light systems. Small perturbations around the physical s…

Based on the non-relativistic QCD factorization scheme, we study the hadroproduction of the bottomonium states $Υ(5S)$ and $Υ(6S)$. We argue to search for them in the final states $Υ(1S,2S,3S)π^+π^-$, which are found to have anomalously large production rates at $Υ(5S)$. The enhanced rates for the dipionic transitions in the $Υ(5S)$-energy region could, besides $Υ(5S)$, be ascribed to $Y_b(10890)$, a state reported by the Belle collaboration, which may be interpreted as a tetraquark. The LHC/Tevatron measurements are capable of making a case in favor of or against the existence of $Y_b(10890)$…
One year of Z- and WW-Threshold running of TESLA can provide the possibility to measure electroweak precision observables to an extremely high accuracy. At the Z peak O(10^9) Z bosons and about 6 10^8 b quarks can be collected. We employ the expected uncertainties ΔMW = 6 MeV and Δsin(theta_W,eff) = 0.00001 and demonstrate in this way that very stringent consistency tests of the Standard Model and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model will be possible. The indirect determination of the Higgs-boson mass within the Standard Model can reach an accuracy of about 5 %. The 6 10^8 b quarks can be…
Currently, the gluon distribution function is mainly constrained by jet data. Yet, its high-x behaviour is largely unknown. This kinematic region is important, for instance, for the understanding of the production of a massive state at forward rapidities at the LHC. In the past, single inclusive direct photon data from fixed target experiments was used to constrain the gluon distribution due to its dominant contribution from the $qg \rightarrowγq$ subprocess in proton-proton collisions. Due to disagreement with its theoretical predictions at next-to-leading order (NLO) in perturbative QCD (pQC…
The B-meson system provides many strategies to perform stringent tests of the Standard-Model description of CP violation. In this brief review, we discuss implications of the currently available B-factory data on the angles alpha, beta and gamma of the unitarity triangle, emphasize the importance of Bs studies at hadronic B experiments, and discuss new, theoretically clean strategies to determine gamma.
Absorption of high-energy $\barν_e$ over electrons above the W boson production threshold is reexamined. It is pointed out that, in the case of photon emissions along the direction of incident high-energy $\barν_e$, the kinematically allowed average energy carried by the final state hard photon can be $\leq 1%$ of the incident $\barν_e$ energy above the W boson production threshold. The differential energy spectrum for the final state hard photon is calculated. We also discuss implications of our results for the prospective search of high-energy $\barν_e$ through this final state hard photon.
In two-step breaking of a class of grand unified theories including SO(10),we prove a theorem showing that the scale $M_I$ where the Pati-Salam gauge symmetry with parity breaks down to the standard gauge group, has vanishing corrections due to all sources emerging from higher scales $ μ>M_I$ such as the one-loop and all higher loop effects, the GUT-threshold,gravitational smearing, and string threshold effects. Implications of such a scale for the unification of gauge couplings with small Majorana neutrino masses are discussed. In string inspired SO(10) we show that $M_I \simeq 5\times 10^{12}$,n…
We study the implication of finite squark and gluino decay widths for threshold resummation of squark and gluino production cross sections at the LHC. We find that for a moderate decay width (Gamma/m < 5%) higher-order soft and Coulomb corrections are appropriately described by NLL calculations in the zero-width limit including the contribution from bound-state resonances below threshold, with the remaining uncertainties due to finite-width effects of a similar order as the ambiguities of threshold-resummed higher-order calculations.
Exploring $Λ$CDM extensions with SPT-3G and Planck data: 4$σ$ evidence for neutrino masses and implications of extended dark energy models for cosmological tensions
We investigate the interplay of quark and meson degrees of freedom in a physical state representing a near-threshold resonance for the case of a single continuum channel. We demonstrate that such a near-threshold resonance may possess quite peculiar properties if both quark and meson dynamics generate weakly coupled near-threshold poles in the S-matrix. In particular, the scattering t-matrix may possess zeros in this case. We also discuss possible implications for production reactions as well as studies within lattice QCD.
