We introduce the notion of Gepner type Bridgeland stability conditions on triangulated categories, which depends on a choice of an autoequivalence and a complex number. We conjecture the existence of Gepner type stability conditions on the triangulated categories of graded matrix factorizations of weighted homogeneous polynomials. Such a stability condition may give a natural stability condition for Landau-Ginzburg B-branes, and correspond to the Gepner point of the stringy Kahler moduli space of a quintic 3-fold. The main result is to show our conjecture when the variety defined by the weighted homogeneous polynomial is a complete intersection of hyperplanes in a Calabi-Yau manifold with dimension less than or equal to two.
We propose a conjectural stronger version of Bogomolov-Gieseker inequality for stable sheaves on quintic 3-folds. Our conjecture is derived from an attempt to construct a Bridgeland stability condition on graded matrix factorizations, which should correspond to the Gepner point via mirror symmetry and Orlov equivalence. We prove our conjecture in the rank two case.
We show the existence of Gepner type Bridgeland stability conditions on the triangulated categories of graded matrix factorizations associated with homogeneous polynomials which define general cubic fourfolds containing a plane. The key ingredient is to describe the grade shift functor of matrix factorizations in terms of sheaves of Clifford algebras on the projective plane under Orlov/Kuznetsov equivalence.
We associate a complete intersection singularity to a graded matrix factorization of size two of a polynomial in three variables. We show that we get an inverse to the reduction of singularities considered by C.T.C.Wall. We study this for the full strongly exceptional collections in the triangulated category of graded matrix factorizations constructed by H.Kajiura, K.Saito, and the second author.
In 1977, Orlik--Randell construct a nice integral basis of the middle homology group of the Milnor fiber associated to an invertible polynomial of chain type and they conjectured that it is represented by a distinguished basis of vanishing cycles. The purpose of this paper is to prove the algebraic counterpart of the Orlik--Randell conjecture. Under the homological mirror symmetry, we may expect that the triangulated category of maximally-graded matrix factorizations for the Berglund--Hübsch transposed polynomial admits a full exceptional collection with a nice numerical property. Indeed, we s…
I describe extended gradings of open topological field theories in two dimensions in terms of skew categories, proving a result which alows one to translate between the formalism of graded open 2d TFTs and equivariant cyclic categories. As an application of this formalism, I describe the open 2d TFT of graded D-branes in Landau-Ginzburg models in terms of an equivariant cyclic structure on the triangulated category of `graded matrix factorizations' introduced by Orlov. This leads to a specific conjecture for the Serre functor on the latter, which generalizes results known from the minimal and …
We write out explicit proper Calabi-Yau structures, i. e. non-degenerate cyclic cocycles on the differential graded categories of matrix factorizations of regular functions with isolated critical points. The formulas involve the Kapustin-Li trace and its "higher corrections".
A famous theorem of D. Orlov describes the derived bounded category of coherent sheaves on projective hypersurfaces in terms of an algebraic construction called graded matrix factorizations. In this article, I implement a proposal of E. Segal to prove Orlov's theorem in the Calabi-Yau setting using a globalization of the category of graded matrix factorizations (graded D-branes). Let X be a projective hypersurface. Already, Segal has established an equivalence between Orlov's category of graded matrix factorizations and the category of graded D-branes on the canonical bundle K of the ambient p…
We study a triangulated category of graded matrix factorizations for a polynomial of type ADE. We show that it is equivalent to the derived category of finitely generated modules over the path algebra of the corresponding Dynkin quiver. Also, we discuss a special stability condition for the triangulated category in the sense of T. Bridgeland, which is naturally defined by the grading.
In this paper we prove a version of curved Koszul duality for Z/2Z-graded curved coalgebras and their coBar differential graded algebras. A curved version of the homological perturbation lemma is also obtained as a useful technical tool for studying curved (co)algebras and precomplexes. The results of Koszul duality can be applied to study the category of matrix factorizations MF(R,W). We show how Dyckerhoff's generating results fit into the framework of curved Koszul duality theory. This enables us to clarify the relationship between the Borel-Moore Hochschild homology of curved (co)algebras …
In our previous papers we used the Hilbert scheme of points on $C^2$ in order to construct a triply graded link homology and its $gl(m)$ version. Here we extend the $gl(m)$ construction to super-algebras $gl(m|k)$.
This paper introduces a mathematical definition of the category of D-branes in Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds in terms of $A_\infty$-categories. Our categories coincide with the categories of (graded) matrix factorizations for quasi-homogeneous polynomials. After setting up the necessary definitions, we prove that our category for the polynomial $x^{n+1}$ is equivalent to the derived category of representations of the Dynkin quiver of type $A_{n}$. We also construct a special stability condition for the triangulated category in the sense of T. Bridgeland, which should be the "origin" of the space o…
We establish an isomorphism between the Khovanov-Rozansky triply graded link homology and the geometric triply graded homology due to the authors. Hence we provide an interpretation of the Khovanov-Rozansky homology of the closure of a braid $β$ as the space of derived sections of a $\mathbb{C}^*\times \mathbb{C}^*$- equivariant sheaf $Tr(β)$ on the Hilbert scheme $Hilb_n(\mathbb{C}^2)$, thus proving a version of Gorsky-Negut-Rasmussen conjecture \cite{GorskyNegutRasmussen16}. As a consequence we prove that Khovanov-Rozansky homology of knots satisfies the $q\to t/q$ symmetry conjectured by Du…
We study the homotopy category $\mathrm{hef}(R,W)$ (and its $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded version $\mathrm{HEF}(R,W)$) of elementary factorizations, where $R$ is a Bézout domain which has prime elements and $W=W_0 W_c$, where $W_0\in R^\times$ is a square-free element of $R$ and $W_c\in R^\times$ is a finite product of primes with order at least two. In this situation, we give criteria for detecting isomorphisms in $\mathrm{hef}(R,W)$ and $\mathrm{HEF}(R,W)$ and formulas for the number of isomorphism classes of objects. We also study the full subcategory $\mathbf{hef}(R,W)$ of the homotopy category $\…
We construct a full strongly exceptional collection in the triangulated category of graded matrix factorizations of a polynomial associated to a non-degenerate regular system of weights whose smallest exponents are equal to -1. In the associated Grothendieck group, the strongly exceptional collection defines a root basis of a generalized root system of sign (l,0,2) and a Coxeter element of finite order, whose primitive eigenvector is a regular element in the expanded symmetric domain of type IV with respect to the Weyl group.
These are the notes of the lectures delivered by the author at CIME in June 2018. The main purpose of the notes is to provide an overview of the techniques used in the construction of the triply graded link homology. The homology is space of global sections of a particular sheaf on the Hilbert scheme of points on the plane. Our construction relies on existence on the natural push-forward functor for the equivariant matrix factorizations, we explain the subtleties on the construction in these notes. We also outline a proof of the Markov moves for our homology as well as some explicit localizati…
We leverage the results of the prequel in combination with a theorem of D. Orlov to yield some results in Hodge theory of derived categories of factorizations and derived categories of coherent sheaves on varieties. In particular, we provide a conjectural geometric framework to further understand M. Kontsevich's Homological Mirror Symmetry conjecture. We obtain new cases of a conjecture of Orlov concerning the Rouquier dimension of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a smooth variety. Further, we introduce actions of $A$-graded commutative rings on triangulated categories and t…
We give a complete classification of differential $\mathbb{Z}$-graded homotopy categories of matrix factorizations of isolated singularities up to quasi-equivalence. This answers a question of Bernhard Keller and Evgeny Shinder. More generally, we show that a quasi-equivalence between the dg singularity category of a Gorenstein isolated singularity $R$ and the dg singularity category of a complete local Noetherian $\mathbb{C}$-algebra $S$ of different Krull dimension can always be realized by Knörrer's periodicity -- in particular, the existence of such an equivalence implies that $R$ and $S$ …
We first prove semi-orthogonal decompositions of derived factorization categories arising from sums of potentials of gauged Landau-Ginzburg models, where the sums are not necessarily Thom--Sebastiani type. We then apply the result to the category ${\rm HMF}^{L_f}(f)$ of maximally graded matrix factorizations of an invertible polynomial $f$ of chain type, and explicitly construct a full strong exceptional collection $E_1$,..., $E_μ$ in ${\rm HMF}^{L_f}(f)$ whose length $μ$ is the Milnor number of the Berglund--Hübsch transpose $\widetilde{f}$ of $f$. This proves a conjecture, which postulates t…
We prove a Kn"orrer periodicity type equivalence between derived factorization categories of gauged LG models, which is an analogy of a theorem proved by Shipman and Isik independently. As an application, we obtain a gauged LG version of Orlov's theorem describing a relationship between categories of graded matrix factorizations and derived categories of hypersurfaces in projective spaces, by combining the above Kn"orrer periodicity type equivalence and the theory of variations of GIT quotients due to Ballard, Favero and Katzarkov.
We study boundary conditions and defects in a three-dimensional topological sigma-model with a complex symplectic target space X (the Rozansky-Witten model). We show that boundary conditions correspond to complex Lagrangian submanifolds in X equipped with complex fibrations. The set of boundary conditions has the structure of a 2-category; morphisms in this 2-category are interpreted physically as one-dimensional defect lines separating parts of the boundary with different boundary conditions. This 2-category is a categorification of the Z/2-graded derived category of X; it is also related to …
