Recently, Atiyah and LeBrun proved versions of the Gauss-Bonnet and Hirzebruch signature Theorems for metrics with edge-cone singularities in dimension four, which they applied to obtain an inequality of Hitchin-Thorpe type for Einstein edge-cone metrics. Interestingly, many natural examples of edge-cone metrics in dimension four are anti-self-dual (or self-dual depending upon choice of orientation). On such a space there is an important elliptic complex called the anti-self-dual deformation complex, whose index gives crucial information about the local structure of the moduli space of anti-self-dual metrics. In this paper, we compute the index of this complex in the orbifold case, and give several applications.
We give a classification of toric anti-self-dual conformal structures on compact 4-orbifolds with positive Euler characteristic. Our proof is twistor theoretic: the interaction between the complex torus orbits in the twistor space and the twistor lines induces meromorphic data, which we use to recover the conformal structure. A compact anti-self-dual orbifold can also be constructed by adding a point at infinity to an asymptotically locally Euclidean (ALE) scalar-flat Kähler orbifold. We use this observation to classify ALE scalar-flat Kähler 4-orbifolds whose isometry group contain a 2-torus.
We present explicit constructions of complete Ricci-flat Kahler metrics that are asymptotic to cones over non-regular Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. The metrics are constructed from a complete Kahler-Einstein manifold (V,g_V) of positive Ricci curvature and admit a Hamiltonian two-form of order two. We obtain Ricci-flat Kahler metrics on the total spaces of (i) holomorphic C^2/Z_p orbifold fibrations over V, (ii) holomorphic orbifold fibrations over weighted projective spaces WCP^1, with generic fibres being the canonical complex cone over V, and (iii) the canonical orbifold line bundle over a fam…
Seiberg-Witten theory is used to obtain new obstructions to the existence of Einstein metrics on 4-manifolds with conical singularities along an embedded surface. In the present article, the cone angle is required to be of the form 2(pi)/p, where p is a positive integer, but we conjecture that similar results will also hold in greater generality.
An index theorem for the anti-self-dual deformation complex on anti-self-dual orbifolds with cyclic quotient singularities is proved. We present two applications of this theorem. The first is to compute the dimension of the deformation space of the Calderbank-Singer scalar-flat Kahler toric ALE spaces. A corollary of this is that, except for the Eguchi-Hanson metric, all of these spaces admit non-toric anti-self-dual deformations, thus yielding many new examples of anti-self-dual ALE spaces. For our second application, we compute the dimension of the deformation space of the canonical Bochner-…
For compact Riemann surfaces, the collar theorem and Bers' partition theorem are major tools for working with simple closed geodesics. The main goal of this paper is to prove similar theorems for hyperbolic cone-surfaces. Hyperbolic two-dimensional orbifolds are a particular case of such surfaces. We consider all cone angles to be strictly less than $π$ to be able to consider partitions.
We show that the orbifold fundamental group of an effective compact K{ä}hler orbifold with nef anticanonical bundle has polynomial growth, which generalizes M.P ăun's results for manifolds [P ău97, Theorem 1,Theorem 2]
We use the momentum construction of Calabi to study the conical Kähler-Ricci flow on Hirzebruch surfaces with cone angle along the exceptional curve, and show that either the flow Gromov-Hausdorff converges to the Riemann sphere or a single point in finite time, or the flow contracts the cone divisor to a single point and Gromov-Hausdorff converges to a two dimensional projective orbifold. This gives the first example of the conical Kähler-Ricci flow contracting the cone divisor to a single point. At the end, we introduce a conjectural picture of the geometry of finite time non-collapsing sing…
An index theorem for the anti-self-dual deformation complex on anti-self-dual orbifolds with singularities conjugate to ADE-type is proved. In 1988, Claude Lebrun gave examples of scalar-flat Kähler ALE metrics with negative mass, on the total space of the bundle $\mathcal{O}(-n)$ over $S^2$. A corollary of this index theorem is that the moduli space of anti-self-dual ALE metrics near each of these metrics has dimension at least $4n-12$, and thus for $n \geq 4$ the LeBrun metrics admit a plethora of non-trivial anti-self-dual deformations.
We prove that any asymptotically locally Euclidean scalar-flat Kähler 4-orbifold whose isometry group contains a 2-torus is isometric, up to an orbifold covering, to a quaternionic-complex quotient of a $k$-dimensional quaternionic vector space by a $(k-1)$-torus. In order to do so, we first prove that any compact anti-self-dual 4-orbifold with positive Euler characteristic whose isometry group contains a 2-torus is conformally equivalent, up to an orbifold covering, to a quaternionic quotient of $k$-dimensional quaternionic projective space by a $(k-1)$-torus.
By a result of W.~P. Thurston, the moduli space of flat metrics on the sphere with $n$ cone singularities of prescribed positive curvatures is a complex hyperbolic orbifold of dimension $n-3$. The Hermitian form comes from the area of the metric. Using geometry of Euclidean polyhedra, we observe that this space has a natural decomposition into real hyperbolic convex polyhedra of dimensions $n-3$ and $\leq \frac{1}{2}(n-1)$. By a result of W.~Veech, the moduli space of flat metrics on a compact surface with cone singularities of prescribed negative curvatures has a foliation whose leaves have a…
We obtain a growth estimate for the number of lattice points inside any Q-Gorenstein cone. Our proof uses the result of Futaki-Ono-Wang on Sasaki-Einstein metric for the toric Sasakian manifold associated to the cone, a Yau's inequality, and the Kawasaki-Riemann-Roch formula for orbifolds.

The continuity method is used to deform the cone angle of a weak conical Kähler-Einstein metric with cone singularities along a smooth anti-canonical divisor on a smooth Fano manifold. This leads to an alternative proof of Donaldson's Openness Theorem on deforming cone angle \cite{Don} by combining it with the regularity result of Guenancia-P$\breve{\text{a}}$un \cite{GP} and Chen-Wang \cite{CW}. This continuity method uses relatively less regularity of the metric (only weak conical Kähler-Einstein) and bypasses the difficult Banach space set up; it is also generalized to deform the cone angle…
In this paper, we show the rigidity of isometric immersions for a Riemannian manifold of dimension $n-1$ into the light cone of $n+1$ dimensional Minkowski, de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spacetimes for $n\geq 3$.
We consider how the geometry and topology of a compact $n$-dimensional Riemannian orbifold with boundary relates to its Steklov spectrum. In two dimensions, motivated by work of A. Girouard, L. Parnovski, I. Polterovich and D. Sher in the manifold setting, we compute the precise asymptotics of the Steklov spectrum in terms of only boundary data. As a consequence, we prove that the Steklov spectrum detects the presence and number of orbifold singularities on the boundary of an orbisurface and it detects the number each of smooth and singular boundary components. Moreover, we find that the Stekl…
We prove the existence of a unique maximal surface in each anti-de Sitter (AdS) convex Globally Hyperbolic Maximal (GHM) manifold with particles (that is, with conical singularities along time-like lines) for cone angles less than $π$. We interpret this result in terms of Teichmüller theory, and prove the existence of a unique minimal Lagrangian diffeomorphism isotopic to the identity between two hyperbolic surfaces with cone singularities when the cone angles are the same for both surfaces and are less than $π$.
