We present new results on charmonium and charmonium-like states from the BaBar experiment located at the PEP-II asymmetric energy $e^+e^-$ storage ring at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
We review recent charmonium and charmonium-like state from the BaBar B-factory. A particular focus is given to the observation of the decay $X(3872) \to J/ψω$ and to recent $η_{c}(1S)$ and $η_{c}(2S)$ results. The Observation of the $χ_{c2}(2P)$ state will be also discussed

We present recent results on charmonium and charmonium-like states from the BaBar B-factory located at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
The charmonium-like states, Y(4260), Y(4350), produced via initial state radiation, as well as the X(3872), and Y(3940), produced in B meson decays from the BABAR B-factory are reviewed. These mesons do not seem consistent with conventional charmonium models, and several alternate hypotheses have been proposed to explain these new discoveries.
We report on measurements of time-dependent CP-violation asymmetries in neutral B meson decays to charmonium and charm final states. The results are obtained from a data sample of 467+/-5 million Y(4S)->BBbar decays collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II B factory.
Belle and BaBar experiments at the KEKB and PEP-II B-factories provide also an excellent environment for spectroscopy studies. In this report we present recent results in the field of charmonium spectroscopy, focusing on new charmonium-like states observed in B decays, and on $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ resonances created in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation through the photon radiative return.
BaBar and Belle have recently revived the interest in charmonium spectroscopy, discovering many unexpected resonances. In this review, I'll focus mostly on the states found in B decays and double $\ccbar$. A better understanding of their production mechanism can help to discriminate among models, confirm tentative $J^{PC}$ assignments, and clarify the overall picture.
We report measurements of charmonium resonances (J/Psi, Psi(2S),Chi_c1) using about 25 fb^-1 of data collected by the BABAR detector around the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We present measurements of inclusive charmonium production of charmonium in B decays and from the continuum, as well as exclusive branching ratios of B mesons into charmonium final states. We present also a measurement of the B0 -> K*0 gamma branching ratio and a search for the decay B0 -> gamma gamma.
A brief review of experimental results on charmonium and charmonium-like hadron spectroscopy at B-factories is presented. A special focus is put on recent results of eta_c and eta_c(2S) study, X(3872) radiative decays, omega J/psi final state study and search for charmonium production in radiative Upsilon decays.
Using 22.7 million BBbar events recorded with the BABAR detector, the inclusive branching fractions for the production of J/psi, psi(2S) and Chi_c in B decays are presented. Combining the charmonium state with a K+-, K0, K*+-, K*0 or neutral pion, B decays are reconstructed exlusively and branching fractions are determined. A preliminary study is also presented fot the B --> eta_c K decay mode.
We report preliminary results on the measurement of branching fractions of exclusive decays of neutral and charged B mesons into two-body final states containing a charmonium state and a light strange meson. The charmonium mesons considered are J/psi, psi(2S) and chic_c1, and the light mesons are either K or K*. We use a sample of about 124 million BBbar events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
This article summarises measurements of time-dependent CP asymmetries in decays of neutral B mesons to charmonium, open-charm and gluonic penguin-dominated charmless final states. Unless otherwise stated, these measurements are based on a sample of approximately 230 million Y(4S) to BBbar decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B-factory.
The B factories provide a unique playground for studying the properties of conventional and exotic charmonium states. We present recent results in initial state radiation and two-photon fusion, obtained using the full data set collected by the BaBar experiment. Amongst BaBar 's harvest presented in this talk, the determination of the quantum numbers of the X(3915) resonance, a body of concording evidence pointing to JPC = 1++ for the X(3872), and updates on the family of the Y resonance to the full integrated luminosity.
Recent results in the field of spectroscopy from the BABAR experiment are reported, with particular attention to the new states observed in ISR and $γγ$ interactions using the full BABAR data sample. We confirm the states Y(4260) and Y(4360) with higher precision and for the first time the state Y(4660) is observed. We do not confirm the Y(4008) state reported by Belle. In addition, the analysis of the invariant mass of the $J/ψω$ system produced in $γγ$ interactions is presented in confirmation of the Belle observation of the X(3915) in this process.
Using 8.5M B-anti-B events recorded by the BABAR detector the yield of inclusive J/psi, the branching ratios of psi(2S) and chi_C1 are presented. Combining the charmonium state with either a K+,KS, K*+ or K*0 exclusive B decays are reconstructed and their branching ratios determined. Using the fully reconstructed decays, both the B0 and B+ masses and their difference is measured. Finally the contributions of CP even and odd amplitudes in the decay B to J/psi K* are determined from an angular analysis.
In this paper the studies of three different B decays to hadronic states are presented. These results are based on 1999-2003 dataset collected by the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The measurements are the hadronic branching fraction of B+ -> J/psi p Lambda-bar, B0 -> J/psi p p-bar, B0 -> D*+D-, and the direct CP-asymmetry in B0 -> D0(CP) K- channels.
Several charmonium-like states above $D\bar{D}$ threshold have been discovered at the Belle and BABAR B-factories. Some of these states are produced via Initial State Radiation (e.g. Y(4260) and Y(4350)), and some are observed in B-meson decays (e.g. X(3872), and Y(3940)). The Belle observations of the enhancements in the $ψ(2S)π^-$ and $χ_{c1}π^-$, i.e. the Z(4430)-, Z_1(4050)-, and Z_2(4250)-, have generated a great deal of interest, because such states must have minimum quark content $(c\bar{c}d\bar{u})$, i.e. these are candidate four-quark state. The BABAR Collaboration does not confirm th…
We present preliminary results on the measurement of the I=1/2 $K π$ $\mathcal{S}$-wave through a model independent partial wave analysis of $η_c$ decays to $K^0_S K^+ π^-$ and $K^+ K^- π^0$ produced in two-photon interactions. We also perform a Dalitz plot analysis of the $J/ψ$ decays to $π^+ π^- π^0$ and $K^+ K^- π^0$ produced by the initial state radiation process.
Spectroscopy results for Belle and BaBar are reported. A particular focus is put on new results of the X(3872) state with its radiative decays to $J$/$ψ$$γ$ and $ψ'$$γ$, its decay into $J$/$ψ$3$π$ and the search for production in radiative Upsilon decays. Another focus is $L$=2 mesons, in particlar a possible $D$-wave assignment to the X(3872) and the confirmation of an Upsilon $D$-wave state.
We confront predictions for hybrid charmonium and other gluonic excitations in the charm region with recently observed structures in the mass range above 3 GeV. The Y(4260), if resonant, is found to agree with expectations for hybrid charmonium. The possibility that other gluonic excitations may be influencing the data in this region is discussed.
The {\it BaBar} experiment has recorded the decays of more than 465$\times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs since 1999, and is reaching an unprecedented precision in the measurement of hadronic B decays. The following results are presented: tests of QCD factorization with the decays $B\to χ_{c0}K^{*} $, $B\to χ_{c1,2}K^{(*)} $, and $\bar{B}^{0}\to D^{(*)0}h^{0}$, $h^0=π^0, η,\ ω, η'$, study of the decays to charmonium $B\to η_c K^{(*)},\ η_c(2S) K^{(*)}$ and $h_cK^{(*)}$, measurement of the mass difference between neutral and charged $B$'s, measurement of the "r" parameters for the extraction of the CKM a…
Recent results on the search for pentaquarks and on charmonium spectroscopy at BaBar are reviewed. The latter includes the observation of the puzzling new state X(3872) -> J/psi pi+ pi- in B decays, and the searches for X(3872) in two-body B decays and initial state radiation events.
Charmonium spectroscopy gained renewed interest after the discovery in 2003 of the unpredicted X(3872) charmonium-like state, above the $D\overline{D}$ threshold. To date many charmonium-like states above the $D\overline{D}$ threshold have been claimed. Some of these states do not easily fit the conventional charmonium picture. In this article we review recent experimental results in this field, reported by the BaBar and Belle Collaborations.
One of the most intriguing puzzles in hadron spectroscopy are the numerous charmonium-like states observed in the last decade, including charged states that are manifestly exotic. The $BABAR$ and Belle experiments have extensively studied those in B meson decays, initial state radiation processes and two photon reactions. We can question what we have understood after 11 year search in this field, and try to combine results to conclude on what these new unpredicted resonant states are, and how they can be accommodated in the theory. Big effort has been made from theoretical and experimental poi…
The last few years have witnessed a renaissance in the spectroscopy of heavy quarks. Several long elusive states have now been firmly identified, and several unexpected states have been reported by the high luminosity experiments at Belle, Babar, CLEO, and Fermilab. These discoveries have posed important theoretical questions for our understanding of QCD, and a variety of theoretical models have been proposed. These developments are critically discussed.
We review recent charmonium and bottomonium spectroscopy results from the B-factories Belle and \babar. A particular focus is given to the new $η_{c}(1S)$ and $η_{c}(2S)$ measurement and to the radiative transitions from $Υ(2S)$ and $Υ(3S)$ with converted photons.
The asymmetric B-factories have provided valuable information on CP violation so far. In particular, one of the angles of the Unitarity Triangle, phi1(=beta), has been measured by several approaches. Since FPCP2004, some measurements have been updated and improved. In this letter, the latest status of phi1 measurements, performed at BaBar and Belle experiments usgin B -> charm/charmonium decays, are reported.
We present preliminary measurements of the cross sections for e+e- --> KS KL pi0 and KS KL pi0 pi0 obtained using the technique of Initial State Radiation with 469 fb^-1 of e+e- collision data collected with the BABAR detector at or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The resonant substructure of KS KL pi0 is investigated, and branching fractions for the decays of the charmonium resonances J/psi and psi(2S) into these final states are measured.
The BaBar experiment and the PEP-II accelerator at SLAC started to take data on May 26, 1999. By the time of this conference, the recorded integrated luminosity was 20 fb^{-1}, of which 8 fb^{-1} were analyzed to provide a first set of physics results. This talk reviews the first measurement of sin2beta and the study of B meson decays to charmonium modes and 2-body charmless decays.
The BaBar experiment at SLAC is designed to measure CP violation in the B meson system, however the very high statistics combined with the different electron and positron beam energies, the detector design and the open trigger allow a wide variety of spectroscopic measurements. We are beginning to tap this potential via several production mechanisms. Here we present recent results from initial state radiation, hadronic jets, few body B and D hadron decays, and interactions in the detector material. We also summarize measurements relevant to Ds meson spectroscopy, pentaquarks and charmonium spe…
Since the discovery of the X(3872) in 2003 the B-factory experiments BaBar and Belle have been driving forces in the spectroscopy of new charmonium-like states. In this article the latest results on the decays X(3872) -> D0 D*0bar and X(3872) -> psi gamma, where psi stands for J/psi or psi(2S), are presented and analyses of Z(4430)+ -> psi pi+ and Z(4050/4250)+ -> chi_c1 pi+ are discussed.
We present preliminary measurements of CP-violating asymmetries in B decays. These include new results on the CKM angle alpha based on studies of the decay B -> rho+ rho- and several charmonium and hadronic penguin modes, sensitive to the CKM angle beta, including results on B -> phi K0S, B -> K+K-K0, B -> eta' K0S, B -> f0 K0, and B -> pi0 K0S. We also report on several of results related to the extraction of gamma and (2*beta+gamma) and present limits on CPT violation in B decays.
The BABAR detector, at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC collected a sample of 32 million BBbar pairs whilst operating at energies near the Upsilon(4S) resonance between October 1999 and May 2001. An study of time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in events where one neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in a final state containing charmonium produced the measurement sin2beta = 0.59 +- 0.14 (stat) +- 0.05 (syst), which constitutes an observation of CP violation in the B0 meson system at the 4 sigma level. Also presented are preliminary results from a study of CP violation in the decays…
Recent experimental results on charmonium $h_c(^1P_1)$, $η_c(1S)$ and $η_c(2S)$ from Belle, BaBar, CLEO and BESIII are reviewed. $h_c$ production and properties, the $η_c(1S)$ lineshape and the observation of $η_c(2S)$ in $ψ'$ decays are discussed.
New results of the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric e^+e^- collider are presented, in particular (a) measurement of the mass and width of the $η_c$ and $η_c'$ in B meson decays, (b) measurement of the mass, width and quantum numbers of the X(3872) and (c) observation of the $χ_{c2}$ in $B$ meson decays.
The recent measurement results of exotic charmonium-like states, the so called XYZ particles, at BESIII have been presented. I mainly discussed the charged Zc(3900) state, its neutral partner, and possible excited states.
Using samples of 102 million $Υ(1S)$ and 158 million $Υ(2S)$ event samples collected with the Belle detector, we report on the first search for charge-parity-even charmonium and charmonium-like states in $Υ(1S)$ and $Υ(2S)$ radiative decays. No significant $χ_{cJ}$ or $η_c$ signal is observed and 90% C.L. limits on $\BR(Υ(nS)\to γχ_{cJ})$ ($n=1,2$ and $J=1,2,3$) are obtained. No significant signal of any charmonium-like state is observed. The product branching fraction limits $\BR(Υ(nS)\to γX(3872))$ $\BR(X(3872)\toπ^+π^-\jpsi)$, $\BR(Υ(nS)\to γX(3872))$ $\BR(X(3872)\toπ^+π^-π^0 \jpsi)$, $\BR(…
We report the results of a search for a charmonium-like state produced in the process gamma gamma --> omega J/psi in the 3.9-4.2 GeV/c^2 mass region. We observe a significant enhancement, which is well-described by a resonant shape with mass M = (3915 +/- 3 +/- 2) MeV/c^2 and total width Gamma = (17 +/- 10 +/- 3) MeV. This enhancement may be related to one or more of the three charmonium-like states so far reported in the 3.90-3.95 GeV/c^2 mass region.
I review the recent $B$-factory measurements of new states which, in some cases, exhibit Charmonium-like properties, and in other cases suggest the existence of a new spectroscopy. Several theoretical interpretations of the new states have come to the fore although, at time of writing, we are no closer to untangling the nature of most of the particles making up the observed new zoo of states.
The BESIII experiment at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII) has accumulated the world's largest samples of direct $e^+e^-$ collisions in the $τ$-charm region. From the collected samples, which include $e^+e^-$ annihilations at $J/ψ$, $ψ'$, $ψ$(3770) peaks and in the region from 3.8$\,$GeV to 4.6$\,$GeV, BESIII has produced many new physics results in the spectroscopy, transitions, and decays of charmonium(-like) states. This talk will cover the latest results over a wide range of topics from radiative and hadronic transitions among charmonium states, as well as the productions and…
In the quark model, hadrons are dominantly bound states of quark-antiquark pairs (mesons) or three quarks (baryons), but QCD also allows hadronic states to be composed of more quarks bound together. Recently, BESIII, Belle and LHCb have confirmed the existence of four-quark and pentaquark candidates. These new states, along with experimentally observed resonances that do not fit well into the charmonium and bottomonium spectra, present challenges and opportunities for strong interaction theory. In this talk, I will review results on charmonium-like exotic quark states that have been observed b…
Using a sample of 158 million Υ(2S) events collected with the Belle detector, charmonium and charmonium-like states with even charge parity are searched for in Υ(2S) radiative decays. No significant χ_{cJ} or η_c signal is observed and the following upper limits at 90% confidence level (C.L.) are obtained: BR(Υ(2S)\to γχ_{c0})< 1.0 \times 10^{-4}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γχ_{c1})<3.6 \times 10^{-6}, BR(Υ(2S) \to γχ_{c2})<1.5 \times 10^{-5}, and BR(Υ(2S) \to γη_c)< 2.7 \times 10^{-5}. No significant signal of any charmonium-like state is observed, and we obtain the limits \BR(Υ(2S)\to γX(3872))\times\BR(X…
In this work, we predict two charged charmonium-like structures close to the $D^\ast\bar{D}$ and $D^\ast\bar{D}^\ast$ thresholds, where the Initial Single Pion Emission mechanism is introduced in the hidden-charm dipion decays of higher charmonia $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4160)$, $ψ(4415)$ and charmonium-like state Y(4260). We suggest BESIII to search for these structures in the $J/ψπ^+$, $ψ(2S)π^+$ and $h_b(1P)π^+$ invariant mass spectra of the $ψ(4040)$ decays into $J/ψπ^+π^-$, $ψ(2S)π^+π^-$ and $h_b(1P)π^+π^-$. In addition, the experimental search for these structures in the $J/ψπ^+$, $ψ(2S)π^+$ and $h…
We report BELLE measurements of the exclusive cross sections for the processes e+e-->DD*, e+e-->DD, e+e-->DDpi, the first observation of psi(4415)-> DD*2(2460)bar decay and new state, Y(4660), using ISR. In addition, another cluster of events at around 4.05GeV/c2 is reported.
In this paper, we present a new experimental progress in brief on the recent observation of the charged charmonium-like state Z_c(4020)^{+/-} states and its iso-spin partner Z_c(4020)^{0} in pi pi hc process at the BESIII experiment. The charged Z_{c}(4020) is its decay into π^{+/-} hc final state, and carries electric charge, thus it contains at least four quarks. The observation of both charge and neutral state makes Z_{c}(4020) the first iso-spin triplet Z_{c} state observed in experiment.
We report the observation of a narrow charmonium-like state produced in the exclusive decay process B+ -> K+ pi+pi- J/psi. This state, which decays into pi+pi- J/psi, has a mass of 3872.0+-0.6(stat)+-0.5(syst) MeV, a value that is very near the M_D + M_D* mass threshold. The results are based on an analysis of 152M B-Bbar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. The statistical significance of the signal is in excess of 10 sigma.
We report measurements of the branching fractions for the decays B->D_s1(2536)+ anti-D(*), where anti-D(*) is anti-D0, D- or D*-, and study of B->X(3872) K with X(3872) decaying to D*0 anti-D0 using a sample of 657 million B anti-B pairs recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.
With about 12 fb$^{-1}$ collected XYZ data sets, BESIII continues the exploration of the exotic charmonium-like states. In this talk, recent results on the measurements of the spin-parity determination of $Z_{\rm c}(3900)$, as well as on line-shapes of $e^+e^- \rightarrow J/ψ\,ππ, h_{\rm c}ππ, ψ(2S)\,π^0π^0/π^+π^-$, and $π^+ D^0 D^{*-}$ from open charm are discussed. Also, the recent observation of $e^+ e^- \rightarrow ϕχ_{c1/2}$ at $\sqrt(s)=4.6$ GeV is reported.
We present recent results concerning the searches for light Higgs-like particles in the decay $Υ(3S) \to γA^{0}, A^{0}\to μ^{+}μ^{-}$ as well as for the lepton flavour violation in the decays $Υ(3S) \to e^{\pm}τ^{\mp},μ^{\pm}τ^{\mp}$ and $τ\to 3l (l=e,μ)$ with the BaBar experiment.
We report the recent evidence for a new narrow structure, Y(4140), decaying to the $J/ψϕ$ final state, in exclusive $B^+\to J/ψϕK^+$ decays in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 \ifb collected at the CDF II detector. This narrow structure with its mass well above open charm pairs is unlikely to be a candidate for a conventional charmonium state. From a study of the X(3872) mass and width based on the world's largest sample of $X(3872)\to J/ψπ^+π^-$ decays, we find that our X(3872) signal is consistent with a single state, and leads to the most precise measurement of…
In this paper we present two searches for new physics in Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BABAR detector. We search for charged lepton-flavour violating decays of the Upsilon(3S), which are unobservable in the Standard Model but are predicted to occur in several beyond-the-Standard Model scenarios. We also search for production of a light Higgs or Higgs-like state produced in radiative decays of the Upsilon(3S) and decaying to muon pairs.
The cross sections for e+e- to pi+pi-J/psi, pi+pi-psi(2S), K+K-J/psi, DDbar, DDbar pi, D*Dbar, and D*D*bar are measured using data sample collected on or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. A peak near 4.25 GeV/c^2, corresponding to the so called Y(4260), is observed in pi+pi-J/psi final state. In addition, there is another cluster of events at around 4.05 GeV/c^2. Two resonant structures are observed in the pi+pi-psi(2S) invariant mass distribution, one at 4361+-9+-9 MeV/c^2 with a width of 74+-15+-10 MeV/c^2, and another at 4664+-11+-5 MeV/c^2 with a width of 48+-…
The review on experimental results on charmonium and charmonium-like spectroscopy from B-factories is presented. Main theoretical interpretations, such as conventional charmonium, molecular state, hybrids, tetraquarks and others are discussed.
Hadron physics represents the study of strongly interacting matter in all its manifestations and the understanding of its properties and interactions. The interest on this field has been revitalized by the discovery of new light hadrons, charmonium- and bottomonium-like states. I review the most recent experimental results from different experiments.
Cross sections of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0 J/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies between 3.808 and 4.600 GeV are measured with high precision by using 12.4 $fb^{-1}$ of data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider facility. A fit to the measured energy-dependent cross sections confirms the existence of the charmonium-like state $Y(4220)$. The mass and width of the $Y(4220)$ are determined to be $(4220.4\pm2.4\pm2.3)$ ${\rm MeV}/c^{2}$ and $(46.2\pm4.7\pm2.1)$ MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The mass a…
The recent results on charmonium and charmoniumlike states from Belle experiment are reviewed. We summarise searches in $B$ decays for possible $X$-like states in final states containing $η_c$. The new measurement of $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-ψ(2S)$ improves the determination of the properties of $Y(4360)$ and $Y(4660)$. The fits including $Y(4260)$ are performed. Evidence for a charged charmoniumlike structure at $4.05~{\rm GeV}/c^2$ is observed in the $π^{\pm}ψ(2S)$ intermediate state in the $Y(4360)$ decays. Belle also updates the measurement on $e^+e^-\to KKJ/ψ$ via initial state radiation using the…
