A general phenomenological theory is presented for the phase behavior of ferromagnetic superconductors with spin-triplet electron Cooper pairing. The theory describes in details the temperature-pressure phase diagrams of real inter-metallic compounds exhibiting the remarkable phenomenon of coexistence of spontaneous magnetic moment of the itinerant electrons and spin-triplet superconductivity. The quantum phase transitions which may occur in these systems are also described. The theory allows for a classification of these itinerant ferromagnetic superconductors in two types: type I and type II. The classification is based on quantitative criteria. The comparison of theory and experiment is performed and outstanding problems are discussed.
On the assumption that two electrons with the same group velocity effectively attract each other a simple model Hamiltonian is proposed to question the existence of unconventional electron pairs formed by electrons in a strong periodic potential.
Have you been lying awake wondering what symmetries determine whether a superconductor is spin singlet, triplet, or both? We show that if BCS theory is supplied with additional degrees of freedom, spin singlet can coexist with spin triplet superconductivity. In the first part, we didactically guide the reader to the most general superconducting state using symmetry arguments. If both singlet and triplet pairing channels are present, a magnetic field can convert between spin singlet and triplet states. In the second part, we discuss two possible singlet-triplet superconductors: CeRh$_2$As$_2$ a…
Non-magnetic impurities can lift the accidental degeneracy of unconventional pairing states, such as the $(d + i g)$-wave state recently proposed for Sr$_2$RuO$_4$. This type of effect would lead to a superconducting double transition upon impurity doping. In a model calculation it is shown how this behavior depends on material parameters and how it could be detected.
Hund's coupling in multiorbital systems allows for the possibility of even-parity orbital-antisymmetric spin-triplet pairing, which can be stabilized by spin-orbit coupling (SOC). While this pairing expressed in the orbital basis is uniform and spin-triplet, it appears in the band basis as a pseudospin-singlet, with the momentum dependence determined by the SOC and the underlying triplet character remaining in the form of interband pairing active away from the Fermi energy. Here, we examine the role of momentum-dependent SOC in generating nontrivial pairing symmetries, as well as the hidden tr…
Giant and nil proximity effects and unconventional symmetry of cuprate superconductors are explained as a result of the strong Froehlich interaction of holes with c-axis polarised optical phonons acting together with an anisotropic nonlocal deformation potential.
We rigorously prove that an extended Hubbard model with attraction in two dimensions has an unconventional pairing ground state for any electron filling. The anisotropic spin-0 or anisotropic spin-1 pairing symmetry is realized, depending on a phase parameter characterizing the type of local attractive interactions. In both cases the ground state is unique. It is also shown that in a special case, where there are no electron hopping terms, the ground state has Ising-type Néel order at half-filling, when on-site repulsion is furthermore added. Physical applications are mentioned.
The pairing mechanism in A$_3$C$_{60}$ is investigated by studying the properties of a three-orbital Hubbard model with antiferromagnetic Hund coupling in the normal and superconducting phase. Local orbital fluctuations are shown to be substantially enhanced in the superconducting state, with a fluctuation energy scale that matches the low-energy peak in the spectral weight of the order parameter. Our results demonstrate that local orbital fluctuations provide the pairing glue in strongly correlated fulleride superconductors and support the spin/orbital freezing theory of unconventional superc…
The common wisdom that the phonon mechanism of electron pairing in the weak-coupling Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) superconductors leads to conventional s-wave Cooper pairs is revised. An inevitable anisotropy of sound velocity in crystals makes the phonon-mediated attraction of electrons non-local in space providing unconventional Cooper pairs with a nonzero orbital momentum in a wide range of electron densities. As a result of this anisotropy quasi-two dimensional charge carriers undergo a quantum phase transition from an unconventional d-wave superconducting state to a conventional s-wave…
It is developed a microscopic description of superconductivity in ferromagnetic materials with triplet pairing triggered by the exchange of magnetic fluctuations. Instead widely used paramagnon model we work with phenomenological spectrum of fluctuations in the orthorhombic ferromagnet with strong magnetic anisotropy. Depending of the field orientation parallel or perpendicular to the direction of spontaneous magnetization the effective amplitude of pairing interaction proves to be decreasing or increasing function of magnetic field that allows to explain the drastic difference in magnitudes o…
We propose a microscopic mechanism for triplet pairing due to spin-orbit-assisted electron interaction with optical phonons in a crystal with a complex unit cell. Using two examples of electrons with symmetric Fermi surfaces in crystals with either a cubic or a layered square lattice, we show that spin-orbit-assisted electron-phonon coupling can, indeed, generate triplet pairing and that, in each case, it predetermines the tensor structure of a p-wave order parameter.
We use magnetic long range order as a tool to probe the Cooper pair wave function in the iron arsenide superconductors. We show theoretically that antiferromagnetism and superconductivity can coexist in these materials only if Cooper pairs form an unconventional, sign-changing state. The observation of coexistence in Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$ then demonstrates unconventional pairing in this material. The detailed agreement between theory and neutron diffraction experiments, in particular for the unusual behavior of the magnetic order below $T_{c}$, demonstrates the robustness of our…
We show within the dynamical mean field theory that local multiplet interactions such as Hund's rule coupling produce local pairing superconductivity in the strongly correlated regime. Spin-triplet superconductivity driven by the Hund's rule coupling emerges from the pairing mediated by local fluctuations in pair exchange. In contrast to the conventional spin-triplet theories, the local orbital degrees of freedom has the anti-symmetric part of the exchange symmetry, leaving the spatial part as fully gapped and symmetric s-wave.
We describe a quantum simulator for the Hubbard--Holstein model (HHM), comprising two dressed Rydberg atom species held in a monolayer by independent painted potentials, predicting that boson-mediated preformed pairing, and Berezinskii--Kosterlitz--Thouless (BKT) transition temperatures are experimentally accessible. The HHM is important for modeling the essential physics of unconventional superconductors. Experimentally realizable quantum simulators for HHMs are needed: (1) since HHMs are difficult to solve numerically and analytically, (2) to explore how competition between electron-phonon i…
For a newly discovered iron-based high $T_c$ superconductor LaFeAsO$_{1-x}$F$_x$, we have constructed a minimal model, where inclusion of all the five Fe $d$ bands is found to be necessary. Random-phase approximation is applied to the model to investigate the origin of superconductivity. We conclude that the multiple spin fluctuation modes arising from the nesting across the disconnected Fermi surfaces realize an extended s-wave pairing, while d-wave pairing can also be another candidate.
We show that finite angular momentum pairing chiral superconductors on the triangular lattice have point zeroes in the complex gap function. A topological quantum phase transition takes place through a nodal superconducting state at a specific carrier density $x_c$ where the normal state Fermi surface crosses the isolated zeros. For spin singlet pairing, we show that the second nearest neighbor $d+id$-wave pairing can be the dominant pairing channel. The gapless critical state at $x_c\simeq0.25$ has six Dirac points and is topologically nontrivial with a $T^3$ spin relaxation rate below $T_c$.…
Recently synthesized Kagome compounds AV$_3$Sb$_5$ attract great attention due to the unusual coexistence of the topology, charge density wave and superconductivity. In this {\it Letter}, based on the band structures for CsV$_3$Sb$_5$ in pristine phase, we fit an effective 6-band model for the low-energy processes; utilizing the random phase approximation (RPA) on the effective minimal model, we obtain the momentum-resolved static spin susceptibility attributing the spin-fluctuation pairing mechanism, we find that the superconducting pairing strengths increase with the lift of the Coulomb corr…
A major question in Fe-based superconductors remains the structure of the pairing, in particular whether it is of unconventional nature. The electronic structure near vortices can serve as a platform for phase-sensitive measurements to answer this question. By solving Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations for LiFeAs, we calculate the energy-dependent local electronic structure near a vortex for different nodeless gap-structure possibilities. At low energies, the local density of states (LDOS) around a vortex is determined by the normal-state electronic structure. However, at energies closer to the ga…
We show that the newly discovered BiS$_2$-based superconductors may have a dominant triplet pairing component, in addition to a subdominant singlet component arising from the spin-orbital coupling. The pairing respects time-reversal symmetry. The dominant triplet gap causes gap sign changes between the spin-split Fermi pockets. Within a pocket, the gap function respects $d^*_{x^2-y^2}$-wave symmetry, where the star indicates joint spin-lattice rotations. Below the Lifshitz filling level the gap is nodelss and the superconducting state is weak topological. Above the Lifshitz points the gap beco…
This Letter theoretically discusses quasiparticle states and nuclear spin relaxation rates $T_1^{-1}$ in a quasi-one-dimensional superconductor (TMTSF)$_2$PF$_6$ under a magnetic field applied parallel to the conduction chains. We study the effects of Josephson-type vortices on $T_1^{-1}$ by solving the Bogoliubov de Gennes equation for $p$-, $d$- or $f$-wave pairing interactions. In the presence of line nodes in pairing functions, $T_1^{-1}$ is proportional to $T$ in sufficiently low temperatures because quasiparticles induced by vortices at the Fermi energy relax spins. We also try to identi…
Recent experiments in quantum critical heavy fermion metals have pushed to the fore the question about whether antiferromagnetic fluctuations can promote both spin-singlet and spin-triplet superconductivity. Here we address the issue through non-perturbative calculations in antiferromagnetically correlated Kondo systems. We identify Kondo-destruction quantum critical points in both the SU(2) symmetric and Ising-anisotropic cluster Bose-Fermi Anderson models. The spin-singlet pairing correlations are significantly enhanced near the quantum critical point in the SU(2) case; however, with adequat…
Possibility of unconventional pairing due to Coulomb interaction in iron-pnictide superconductors is studied by applying a perturbative approach to realistic 2- and 5-band Hubbard models. The linearized Eliashberg equation is solved by expanding the effective pairing interaction perturbatively up to third order in the on-site Coulomb integrals. The numerical results for the 5-band model suggest that the eigenvalues of the Eliashberg equation are sufficiently large to explain the actual high Tc for realistic values of Coulomb interaction and the most probable pairing state is spin-singlet s-wav…
Superconductors with unconventional pairings have been a fascinating subject of research, for which a central issue is to explore effects that can be used to characterize the pairing. The process of Andreev reflection--the reflection of an electron as a hole at a normal-mental-superconductor interface by transferring a Cooper pair into the superconductor--offers a basic mechanism to probe the pairing through transport. Here we predict that in Andreev reflection from unconventional superconductors, the reflected hole acquires an anomalous spatial shift normal to the plane of incidence, arising …
We show that an additional triplet component of the order parameter is generated in the vortex phase of the d-wave superconductor. Spatial variations of the triplet component are analyzed for a strong spin-orbit coupling. Corrections to the London equation and an unusual temperature dependence of the upper critical field, are obtained in the case of the weak spin-orbit coupling.
We present a microscopic theory of fluctuation-mediated pairing mechanism in organic superconductors ${(TMTSF)}_{2}X$, where the experimentally observed coexistence of $2k_{F}$ charge fluctuation and $2k_{F}$ spin fluctuation is naturally taken into account. We have studied, within the random phase approximation, the extended Hubbard model at quarter-filling on a quasi-one-dimensional lattice, where we consider the off-site repulsive interaction up to third next nearest neighbors along with the on-site repulsion. The results show that spin-triplet $f$-wave-like pairing can be realized in this …
Searching for triplet superconductivity has been pursued intensively in a broad field of material science and quantum information for decades. Nevertheless, these novel states remain rare. Within a simplified effective three-orbital model, we reveal a spin triplet pairing in doped MoS$_2$ by employing both the finite temperature determinant quantum Monte Carlo approach and the ground state constrained-phase quantum Monte Carlo method. In a wide filling region of $\avg{n}=0.60-0.80$ around charge neutrality $\avg{n}=2/3$, the $f$-wave pairing dominates over other symmetries. The pairing suscept…
Recent experiments on the organic compound κ-(ET)_2Cu_2(CN)_3 have provided a promising example of a two dimensional spin liquid state. This phase is described by a two-dimensional spinon Fermi sea coupled to a U(1) gauge field. We study Kohn-Luttinger-like pairing instabilities of the spinon Fermi surface due to singular interaction processes with twice-the-Fermi-momentum transfer. We find that under certain circumstances the pairing instability occurs in odd-orbital-angular-momentum/spin-triplet channels. Implications to experiments are discussed.
We investigate the twisted bilayer graphene by a two-orbital Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice. The model is studied near 1/4 band filling by using the singular-mode functional renormalization group theory. Spin-triplet $f$-wave pairing is found from weak to moderate coupling limit of the local interactions, and is associated with the Hund's rule coupling and incommensurate spin fluctuations at moderate momenta.
We have investigated the proximity effect in superconductor/ferromagnet junctions in a systematic manner to discuss the relationship between the zero-energy peak (ZEP) of the local density of states (LDOS) and spin-triplet odd-frequency pairing. By exactly solving the nonlinear Usadel equations, we have found that the ZEP is realized in a wide range of geometrical and material parameters in the case of the noncollinear magnetization. This strongly suggests the robustness of the ZEP induced by spin-triplet odd-frequency pairing in such systems. We also found that the crossover from singlet pair…
Using a renormalization group approach, we determine the phase diagram of an extended quasi-one-dimensional electron gas model that includes interchain hopping, nesting deviations and both intrachain and interchain repulsive interactions. We find a close proximity of spin-density- and charge-density-wave phases, singlet d-wave and triplet f-wave superconducting phases. There is a striking correspondence between our results and recent puzzling experimental findings in the Bechgaard salts, including the coexistence of spin-density-wave and charge-density-wave phases and the possibility of a trip…
In order to probe the effect of charge fluctuations on triplet pairing, we study the pairing symmetry in the one-band Hubbard model having the off-site Coulomb repulsion ($V$) on top of the on-site repulsion as a model for the $γ$ band of Sr$_2$RuO$_4$, a strong candidate for triplet pairing superconductor. The result, obtained with the dynamical cluster approximation combined with the quantum Monte-Carlo method, and confirmed from the fluctuation exchange approximation, shows that while $d_{x^2-y^2}$-pairing dominates over $p$ in the absence of $V$, introduction of $V$ makes $p_{x+y}$ and $d_…
We propose a two-dimensional exciton model showing the possibility of two-exciton pairing in cuprates, both in singlet and in triplet states. The former is assumed to be responsible for the superconductivity and the latter for the unusual normal state properties. The ground state is found to be a projection of the Bose condensation of N/2 mobile bosons with a ηprojection operator which is a generalization of the Gutzwiller projection operator. The phase diagram of the model shows insulator-superconductivity and superconductivity-metal transitions with doping.
We study the effect of the magnetic field (Zeeman splitting) on the triplet pairing. We show generally that the enhancement of spin triplet pairing mediated by coexisting $2k_F$ spin and $2k_F$ charge fluctuations can be much larger than in the case of triplet pairing mediated by ferromagnetic spin fluctuations. We propose that this may be related to the recent experiment for (TMTSF)$_2$ClO$_4$, in which a possibility of singlet to triplet pairing transition has been suggested.
Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) plays a crucial role in determining the spin structure of an odd parity psedospin-triplet Cooper pairing state. Here, we present a thorough study of how SOC lifts the degeneracy among different p-wave pseudospin-triplet pairing states in a widely used microscopic model for $\mathrm{Sr_2 Ru O_4}$, combining a Ginzburg-Landau (GL) free energy expansion, a symmetry analysis of the model, and numerical weak-coupling renormalization group (RG) and random phase approximation (RPA) calculations. These analyses are then used to critically re-examine previous numerical results…
We report the finding of a novel pairing state in a newly discovered superconductor Na$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$. This material has a noncentrosymmetric quasi-one-dimensional crystal structure and is superconducting at $T_{\mathrm{C}}\sim$ 8.0 K. We find that the magnetic penetration depth data suggests the presence of a nodal line $p_z$-wave pairing state with zero magnetic moment using transverse-field muon-spin rotation (TF-$μ$SR) measurements. The nodal gap observed in Na$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$ compound is consistent with that observed in isostructural (K,Cs)$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$ compounds using TF-$μ$SR measur…
In the present paper, we propose the parity even, orbital singlet and spin triplet pairing state as the ground state of the newly discovered super-conductor $LaO_{1-x}F_xFeAs$.The pairing mechanism involves both the special shape of the electron fermi surface and the strong ferromagnetic fluctuation induced by Hund's rule coupling. The special behavior of the Bogoliubov quasi-particle spectrum may leads to "Fermi arc" like anisotropy super-conducting gap, which can be detected by angle resolved photo emission(ARPES).The impurity effects are also discussed.
Within a multicomponent BCS-like framework we study the coexistence and competition of various CDW and SC order parameters in the presence of a strong ferromagnetic background. We find that the competition of unconventional CDW, also called orbital antiferromagnet, with SC at finite momentum (${\bf Q}$-triplet pairing) shows unique characteristics like an extreme sensitivity on the deviations from nesting. We argue that pressure in UGe$_2$ creates deviations from the nesting and report a phase diagram in qualitative agreement with the observed behavior of UGe$_2$.
We study spin-half fermions in a one-dimensional extended Hubbard chain at low filling. We identify three triplet and one singlet pairing channels in the system, which are independently tunable as a function of nearest-neighbor charge and spin interactions. In a large-size system with translational invariance, we derive gap equations for the corresponding pairing gaps and obtain a Bogoliubov-de Gennes Hamiltonian with its non-trivial topology determined by the interplay of these gaps. In an open-end system with a fixed number of particles, we compute the exact many-body ground state and identi…
We study the dynamical spin susceptibility, $χ({\bf q}, ω)$, in the normal and superconducting state of Sr$_2$RuO$_4$. In the normal state, we find a peak in the vicinity of ${\bf Q}_i\simeq (0.72π,0.72π)$ in agreement with recent inelastic neutron scattering (INS) experiments. We predict that for spin triplet pairing in the superconducting state a {\it resonance peak} appears in the out-of-plane component of $χ$, but is absent in the in-plane component. In contrast, no resonance peak is expected for spin singlet pairing.
To pinpoint the microscopic mechanism for superconductivity has proven to be one of the most outstanding challenges in the physics of correlated quantum matter. Thus far, the most direct evidence for an electronic pairing mechanism is the observation of a new symmetry of the order-parameter, as done in the cuprate high-temperature superconductors. Like distinctions based on the symmetry of a locally defined order-parameter, global, topological invariants allow for a sharp discrimination between states of matter that cannot be transformed into each other adiabatically. Here we propose an unconv…
We investigate superconducting pairing driven by electron-electron interactions in a theoretical model for monolayer MoS$_2$ with the temperature-flow functional renormalization group(fRG). At low doping, the dominant instability is toward odd-parity pairing with $f$-wave Mo-nearest-neighbor structure. We compute the fRG phase diagram versus electron doping below the van Hove filling of the conduction band. In the superconducting regime, the critical temperature grows with doping, comparable to the experiments. Near van Hove filling the system favors a ferromagnetic state. We demonstrate that …
We show that when spin and orbital angular momenta are entangled by spin-orbit coupling, this transforms a topological spin-triplet superfluid/superconductor state, such as $^{3}$He-B, into a topological $s^{\pm}$ state, with non-trivial gapless edge states. Similar to $^{3}$He-B, the $s^{\pm}$ state also minimizes on-site Coulomb repulsion for weak to moderate interactions. A topological phase transition into a $d$-wave state occurs for sufficiently strong spin-orbit coupling.
We consider fermions on a 2D square lattice with a finite-range pairing interaction, and obtain signatures for unconventional pair-symmetry states, $d_{x^2-y^2}$ and extended-s ($s^*$), in the BCS-BEC crossover region. We find that the fermion momentum distribution function, $v_k^2$, the ratio of the Bogoliubov coefficients, $v_k/u_k$, and the Fourier transform of $v_k^2$ are strikingly different for $d$- and $s^*$ symmetries in the crossover region. The chemical potential and the gaps functions for both pairing symmetries show several interesting features as a function of interaction. Fermion…
We study the phase diagram in a two-dimensional Fermi gas with the synthetic spin-orbit coupling that has recently been realized experimentally. In particular, we characterize in detail the properties and the stability region of the unconventional Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) states in such a system, which are induced by spin-orbit coupling and Fermi surface asymmetry. We identify several distinct nodal FFLO states by studying the topology of their respective gapless contours in momentum space. We then examine the phase structure and the number density distributions in a typical har…
A prime category of superconducting materials in which to look for spin-triplet pairing and topological superconductivity are superconductors without inversion symmetry. It is predicted that the breaking of parity symmetry gives rise to an admixture of spin-singlet / spin-triplet pairing states; a triplet pairing component, being substantial, seems all but guaranteed. However, the experimental confirmation of pair mixing in any particular material remains elusive. In this work, we perform phase-sensitive experiment to examine the pairing state of noncentrosymmetric superconductor $α-$BiPd. The…
We study the possible superconducting pairing symmetry mediated by spin and charge fluctuations on the honeycomb lattice using the extended Hubbard model and the random-phase-approximation method. From $2\%$ to $20\%$ doping levels, a spin-singlet $d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}+id_{xy}$-wave is shown to be the leading superconducting pairing symmetry when only the on-site Coulomb interaction $U$ is considered, with the gap function being a mixture of the nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor pairings. When the offset of the energy level between the two sublattices exceeds a critical value, the most fav…
The recent discovery of AV$_3$Sb$_5$ (A=K,Rb,Cs) has uncovered an intriguing arena for exotic Fermi surface instabilities in a kagome metal. Among them, superconductivity is found in the vicinity of multiple van Hove singularities, exhibiting indications of unconventional pairing. We show that the sublattice interference mechanism is central to understanding the formation of superconductivity in a kagome metal. Starting from an appropriately chosen minimal tight-binding model with multiple with multiple van Hove singularities close to the Fermi level for AV$_3$Sb$_5$, we provide a random phase…
Muon spin rotation and relaxation experiments on the centrosymmetric intermetallic superconductor LaNiGa$_2$ are reported. The appearance of spontaneous magnetic fields coincides with the onset of superconductivity, implying that the superconducting state breaks time reversal symmetry, similarly to non-centrosymmetric LaNiC$_2$. Only four triplet states are compatible with this observation, all of which are non-unitary triplets. This suggests that LaNiGa$_2$ is the centrosymmetric analogue of LaNiC$_2$. We argue that these materials are representatives of a new family of paramagnetic non-unita…
The symmetry properties of the Cooper pairing problem for multi-component ultra-cold dipolar molecular systems are investigated. The dipolar anisotropy provides a natural and robust mechanism for both triplet and singlet Cooper pairing to first order in the interaction strength. With a purely dipolar interaction, the triplet $p_z$-like polar pairing is the most dominant. A short-range attractive interaction can enhance the singlet pairing to be nearly degenerate with the triplet pairing. We point out that these two pairing channels can mix by developing a relative phase of $\pm\fracπ{2}$, thus…
Motivated by the possible non-spin-singlet superconductivity in the magic-angle twisted trilayer graphene experiment, we investigate the triplet-pairing superconductivity arising from a correlation-induced spin-fermion model on a honeycomb lattice. We find that the $f$-wave pairing is favored due to the valley-sublattice structure, and the superconducting state is time-reversal symmetric, fully gapped, and non-topological. With a small in-plane magnetic field, the superconducting state becomes partially polarized, and the transition temperature can be slightly enhanced. Our results apply quali…
Quasi-low-dimensional type II superconductors in parallel magnetic fields are studied when singlet pairing interactions and relatively weak triplet pairing interactions coexist. Singlet and triplet components of order parameter are mixed at high fields, and at the same time an inhomogeneous superconducting state called a Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state occurs. As a result, the triplet pairing interactions enhance the upper critical field of superconductivity remarkably even at temperatures far above the transition temperature of parallel spin pairing. It is found that the enhancement is…
The Fermi-liquid theory of superconductivity is applicable to a broad range of systems that are candidates for unconventional pairing. Fundamental differences between unconventional and conventional anisotropic superconductors are illustrated by the unique effects that impurities have on the low-temperature transport properties of unconventional superconductors. For special classes of unconventional superconductors the low-temperature transport coefficients are {\it universal}, i.e. independent of the impurity concentration and scattering phase shift. The existence of a universal limit depends…
We study the one-dimensional attractive Fermionic Hubbard model under the influence of periodic driving with the time-dependent density matrix renormalization group method. We show that the system can be driven into an unconventional pairing state characterized by a condensate made of Cooper-pairs with a finite center-of-mass momentum similar to a Fulde-Ferrell state. We obtain results both in the laboratory and the rotating reference frames demonstrating that the momentum of the condensate can be finely tuned by changing the ratio between the amplitude and the frequency of the driving. In par…
Using an RPA approximation, we have calculated the strengths of the singlet and triplet pairing interactions which arise from the exchange of spin and orbital fluctuations for a 2-orbital model of the Fe-pnictide superconductors. When the system is doped with F, the electron pockets become dominant and we find that the strongest pairing occurs in the singlet d-wave pairing and the triplet p-wave pairing channels, which compete closely. The pairing structure in the singlet d-wave channel corresponds to a superposition of near neighbor intra-orbital singlets with a minus sign phase difference be…
Unconventional superconductivity is usually associated with symmetry breaking in the system. Here we consider a simple setup consisting of a solid state material with conduction electrons and an applied surface acoustic wave (SAW), that can break time and spatial translation symmetries. We study the symmetries of the possible SAW-induced order parameters, showing that even-frequency spin-triplet odd-parity order parameter can occur. We suggest different methods of how to engineer the symmetries of the order parameters using SAWs and the applications of such setups.
The superconducting state in uranium compounds UGe2, URhGe and UCoGe is formed at temperatures far below the Curie temperature pointing on nonconventional nature of superconductivity in these materials - namely the superconductivity with triplet pairing. The emergence of superconductivity is accompanied by the slight magnetization expulsion typical for the type-II superconductors. Following classic Abrikosov paper I develop the theory of type-II superconductivity in application to two-band ferromagnetic metal with equal spin triplet pairing.
A generalization of the Cooper pairing mechanism is proposed which allows for a triplet state of lower energy. This is achieved by incorporating spin into the canonical commutation relations and by modifying the $δ$ potential contact interaction. The gap equation contain as solutions both singlet and triplet states. It is shown that the triplet state is lower in energy than the singlet state which may explain the spin-triplet superconductivity observed in heavy fermion compound UPt3 and in Sr$_2$RuO$_4$.
