We present strongly improved electroweak precision constraints on the split-UED model. We find that the dominating effect arises from contributions to the muon decay rate by the exchange of even-numbered W-boson Kaluza-Klein modes at tree-level, which so far have not been discussed in the context of UED models. The constraints on the split-UED parameter space are translated into bounds on the mass difference of the first Kaluza-Klein mode of fermions and the lightest Kaluza-Klein mode, which will be tested is the LHC.
In models with universal extra dimensions (UED), the lightest Kaluza-Klein excitation of neutral electroweak gauge bosons is a stable, weakly interacting massive particle and thus is a candidate for dark matter thanks to Kaluza-Klein parity. We examine concrete model realizations of such dark matter in the context of non-minimal UED extensions. The boundary localized kinetic terms for the electroweak gauge bosons lead to a non-trivial mixing among the first Kaluza-Klein excitations of the ${\rm SU}(2)_W$ and ${\rm U}(1)_Y$ gauge bosons and the resultant low energy phenomenology is rich. We inv…
Electroweak observables are highly sensitive to the loop corrections. Therefore, a proper gauge-fixing mechanism is always needed to define the propagators which are involved in Feynman loop amplitude. With this spirit we compute gauge-fixing mechanism in five dimensional (5-D) Universal Extra-Dimensional (UED) model with boundary localised terms (BLTs). These BLTs are not 5-D operators in four-dimensional (4-D) effective theory but some sort of boundary conditions on the respective fields at the fixed points of $S^1/Z_2$ orbifold. Furthermore, these BLTs non-trivially modify the Kaluza-Klein …
We discuss gravitational wave signal from the strongly first order electroweak phase transition in the split NMSSM. We find that for sets of parameters predicting successful electroweak baryogenesis the gravitational wave signal can be within the reach of future experiments LISA, BBO and Ultimate DECIGO.
The null results of the LHC searches have put strong bounds on new physics scenario such as supersymmetry (SUSY). With the latest values of top quark mass and strong coupling, we study the upper bounds on the sfermion masses in Split-SUSY from the observed Higgs boson mass and electroweak (EW) vacuum stability. To be consistent with the observed Higgs mass, we find that the largest value of supersymmetry breaking scales $M_{S}$ for $\tanβ=2$ and $\tanβ=4$ are $\mathcal{O} (10^{3}\, {\rm TeV})$ and $\mathcal{O} (10^{1.5}\, {\rm TeV})$ respectively, thus putting an upper bound on the sfermion ma…
In light of the Higgs boson discovery we reconsider generation of the baryon asymmetry in the non-minimal split Supersymmetry model with an additional singlet superfield in the Higgs sector. We find that successful baryogenesis during the first order electroweak phase transition is possible within phenomenologically viable part of the model parameter space. We discuss several phenomenological consequences of this scenario, namely, predictions for the electric dipole moments of electron and neutron and collider signatures of light charginos and neutralinos.
The recent muon $g-2$ result from Fermilab combined with the Brookhaven result, strongly points to new physics beyond the Standard Model which can be well described by the electroweak sector of supersymmetry if the masses of the sleptons and some of the electroweak gauginos are in the few hundred GeV range. However, the Higgs boson mass measurement at 125 GeV indicates a mass scale for squarks which lies in the few TeV region indicating a split mass spectrum between squarks and sleptons. This apparent puzzle is resolved in a natural way in gluino-driven radiative breaking of the electroweak sy…
Electroweak second order shifts of muonium ($μ^+e^-$ bound state) energy levels are calculated for the first time. Calculation starts from on-shell one-loop elastic $μ^+ e^-$ scattering amplitudes in the center of mass frame, proceed to renormalization and to derivation of muonium matrix elements by using the momentum space wave functions. This is a reliable method unlike the unjustified four-Fermi approximation in the literature. Corrections of order $αG_F$ (with $α\sim 1/137$ the fine structure constant and $G_F$ the Fermi constant) and of order $αG_F /(m_Z a_B)$ (with $m_Z$ the Z boson mass…
In this work we revisit the existence of a strong first order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT) and recent $m_W$ precision measurement in the Type-I and Type-II 2HDMs. The O(100) GeV new scalars in 2HDMs are favored by SFOEWPT, which is necessary for electroweak baryogenesis, and observed $m_W$ shift as well. % We find that under current constraints, both Type-I and Type-II 2HDM can explain the SFOEWPT, Z-pole, Higgs precision measurements and $m_W$ precision measurement of CDF-II at same time, and all these precision measurements are sensitive to heavy Higgs mass splitting in 2HDM. The a…
In the absence of any hints of new physics in LHC, TeV dark matter candidates interacting through electroweak force (EWDM) are still highly motivated. We extend the Standard Model by adding an arbitrary SU(2) DM multiplet in non-chiral representation. In addition to the well-known real representation which has no coupling to the nuclei at tree level, the complex representation can lead to a new DM candidate providing that one includes a higher dimensional mass-splitting operator, which survives the current direct detection bounds. Since the masses of gauge mediators are light compared to the d…
Split higgsinos are a compelling class of models to explain dark matter and may be on the verge of detection by multiple current experimental avenues. The idea is based on a large split in scales between the electroweak scale and decoupled scalars, with relatively light higgsinos between the two. Such models enjoy the merit of depending on very few parameters while still explaining gauge coupling unification, dark matter, and most of the hierarchy between the Planck and electroweak scales, and they remain undetected by past experiments. We analyze split higgsinos in view of current and next ge…
The recent measurement by the CDF Collaboration of the $W$ boson mass is in significant tension with the Standard Model expectation, showing a discrepancy of seven standard deviations. A larger value of $m_W$ affects the global electroweak fit, particularly the best-fit values of the Peskin-Takeuchi parameters $S$, $T$ (and perhaps $U$) that measure oblique corrections from new physics. To meet this challenge, we propose some simple models capable of generating non-negative $S$ and $T$, the latter of which faces the greatest upward pressure from the CDF measurement in scenarios with $U=0$. Our…

In some models of thermal relic dark matter, the relic abundance may be set by inelastic scattering processes (rather than annihilations) becoming inefficient as the universe cools down. This effect has been called coscattering. We present a procedure to numerically solve the full momentum-dependent Boltzmann equations in coscattering, which allows for a precise calculation of the dark matter relic density including the effects of early kinetic decoupling. We apply our method to a simple model, containing a fermionic SU(2) triplet and a fermionic singlet with electroweak-scale masses, at small…

Models with scalar triplets can have a large impact on the electroweak precision S-parameter and have to be dealt "with extreme prejudice". Such models, and in particular the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model, involve a complex triplet scalar containing doubly-charged Higgses plus a real triplet and are of recent phenomenological interests. It turns out that large mass splittings within the triplet will not be allowed by the S-parameter in the absence of extra fermionic degrees of freedom. Simply speaking, having only an extra triplet of scalars severely restricts the mass splitting within that tripl…
We explore the extent to which future precision measurements of the Standard Model (SM) observables at the proposed $Z$-factories and Higgs factories may have impacts on new physics beyond the Standard Model, as illustrated by studying the Type-I Two-Higgs-doublet model (Type-I 2HDM). We include the contributions from the heavy Higgs bosons at the tree-level and at the one-loop level in a full model-parameter space. While only small $\tanβ$ region is strongly constrained at tree level, the large $\tanβ$ region gets constrained at loop level due to $\tanβ$ enhanced tri-Higgs couplings. We perfo…
