We present non-linear weak lensing predictions for coupled dark energy models using the CoDECS simulations. We calculate the shear correlation function and error covariance expected for these models, for forthcoming ground-based (such as DES) and space-based (Euclid) weak lensing surveys. We obtain predictions for the discriminatory power of a ground-based survey similar to DES and a space-based survey such as Euclid in distinguishing between $Λ$CDM and coupled dark energy models; we show that using the non-linear lensing signal we could discriminate between $Λ$CDM and exponential constant coupling models with $β_0\geq0.1$ at $4σ$ confidence level with a DES-like survey, and $β_0\geq0.05$ at $5σ$ confidence level with Euclid. We also demonstrate that estimating the coupled dark energy models' non-linear power spectrum, using the $Λ$CDM Halofit fitting formula, results in biases in the shear correlation function that exceed the survey errors.
We use strongly gravitationally lensed (SGL) systems to put additional constraints on a set of holographic dark energy models. Data available in the literature (redshift and velocity dispersion) is used to obtain the Einstein radius and compare it with model predictions. We found that the LCDM is the best fit to the data. Although a preliminary statistical analysis seems to indicate that two of the holographic models studied show interesting agreement with observations, a stringent test lead us to the result that neither of the holographic models are competitive with the LCDM. These results hi…
The nature of the dark sector of the Universe remains one of the outstanding problems in modern cosmology, with the search for new observational probes guiding the development of the next generation of observational facilities. Clues come from tension between the predictions from ΛCDM and observations of gravitationally lensed galaxies. Previous studies showed that galaxy clusters in the ΛCDM are not strong enough to reproduce the observed number of lensed arcs. This work aims to constrain the warm dark matter cosmologies by means of the lensing efficiency of galaxy clusters drawn from these a…
We review matter bounce scenarios where the matter content is dark matter and dark energy. These cosmologies predict a nearly scale-invariant power spectrum with a slightly red tilt for scalar perturbations and a small tensor-to-scalar ratio. Importantly, these models predict a positive running of the scalar index, contrary to the predictions of the simplest inflationary and ekpyrotic models, and hence could potentially be falsified by future observations. We also review how bouncing cosmological space-times can arise in theories where either the Einstein equations are modified or where matter…
We calculate the skewness (the third moment $S_3$) of matter distribution in dynamical dark energy cosmologies. We pay particular attention to the impact of dark energy perturbations on this quantity. There is indeed a clear signature of dark energy perturbations on this quantity. By properly allowing dark energy perturbations we show that their impact on $S_3$ is strong enough (a factor $\sim 3$ greater) to easily discriminate between clustering and non-clustering dark energy cosmologies. This indicates that high order statistics of the cosmic density field are useful to the study of dark ene…
We investigate the limits of applicability of the quasi-static approximation in cosmologies featuring general models of dark energy or modified gravity. We show that, at best, the quasi-static approximation breaks down outside of the sound horizon of the dark-energy, rather than the cosmological horizon as is frequently assumed. When the sound speed of dark energy is significantly below that of light, the quasi-static limit is only valid in a limited range of observable scales and this must be taken into account when computing effects on observations in such models. As an order of magnitude es…
f(R) gravity is thought to be an alternative to dark energy which can explain the acceleration of the universe. It has been tested by different observations including type Ia supernovae (SNIa), the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) and so on. In this Letter, we use the Hubble constant independent ratio between two angular diameter distances $D=D_{ls}/D_s$ to constrain f(R) model in Palatini approach $f(R)=R-αH^2_0(-\frac{R}{H^2_0})^β$. These data are from various large systematic lensing surveys and lensing by galaxy clusters combined with X-ray observat…
We produce lensing potential and deflection-angle maps in order to simulate CMB weak-lensing via ray-tracing through the COupled Dark Energy Cosmological Simulations (CoDECS). The constructed maps reflect the N-body cosmic structures on a range of scales going from the arcminute to the degree scale. We investigate the variation of the lensing pattern due to the DE dynamics, characterised by different background and perturbation behaviours as a consequence of the interaction between the DE field and CDM. We study the results from three models differing in the background and perturbations evolut…
In this study we combine the background and the growth rate data in order to study the ability of the two oscillating dark energy parameterizations, to fit the observational data. Using the likelihood and MCMC method we try to explore the posterior space and put constraints on the free parameters of the models. Based on the values of the well known Akaike and Bayesian information criteria we find that both of oscillating dark energy models considered in this work are disfavored by the combined (background+growth rate) data. Although using the expansion data we can not reject oscillating dark e…
In this paper we explore possible extensions of Interacting Dark Energy cosmologies, where Dark Energy and Dark Matter interact non-gravitationally with one another. In particular, we focus on the neutrino sector, analyzing the effect of both neutrino masses and the effective number of neutrino species. We consider the Planck 2018 legacy release data combined with several other cosmological probes, finding no evidence for new physics in the dark radiation sector. The current neutrino constraints from cosmology should be therefore regarded as robust, as they are not strongly dependent on the da…
We use high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations run with the EAGLE model of galaxy formation to study the differences between the properties of - and subsequently the lensing signal from - subhaloes of massive elliptical galaxies at redshift 0.2, in Cold and Sterile Neutrino (SN) Dark matter models. We focus on the two 7 keV SN models that bracket the range of matter power spectra compatible with resonantly-produced SN as the source of the observed 3.5 keV line. We derive an accurate parametrisation for the subhalo mass function in these two SN models relative to CDM, as well as the subhalo …
Coupled cosmologies can predict values for the cosmological parameters at low redshifts which may differ substantially from the parameters values within non-interacting cosmologies. Therefore, low redshift probes, as the growth of structure and the dark matter distribution via galaxy and weak lensing surveys constitute a unique tool to constrain interacting dark sector models. We focus here on weak lensing forecasts from future Euclid and LSST-like surveys combined with the ongoing Planck cosmic microwave background experiment. We find that these future data could constrain the dimensionless c…
We show that the relic abundance of the minority component of asymmetric dark matter can be very sensitive to the expansion rate of the Universe and the temperature of transition between a non-standard pre-Big Bang Nucleosynthesis cosmological phase and the standard radiation dominated phase, if chemical decoupling happens before this transition. In particular, because the annihilation cross section of asymmetric dark matter is typically larger than that of symmetric dark matter in the standard cosmology, the decrease in relic density of the minority component in non-standard cosmologies with …
We investigate the time evolution of the gravitational potential Phi for a special class of non-adiabatic Unified Dark matter Models described by scalar field lagrangians. These models predict the same background evolution as in the LambdaCDM and possess a non-vanishing speed of sound. We provide a very accurate approximation of Phi, valid after the recombination epoch, in the form of a Bessel function of the first kind. This approximation may be useful for a future deeper analysis of Unified Dark Matter scalar field models.
We study the parameter space of cold dark matter axions in two cosmological scenarios with non-standard thermal histories before Big Bang nucleosynthesis: the Low Temperature Reheating (LTR) cosmology and the kination cosmology. If the Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaks during inflation, we find more allowed parameter space in the LTR cosmology than in the standard cosmology and less in the kination cosmology. On the contrary, if the Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaks after inflation, the Peccei-Quinn scale is orders of magnitude higher than standard in the LTR cosmology and lower in the kination cosmolog…
WMAP5 and related data have greatly restricted the range of acceptable cosmologies, by providing precise likelihood ellypses on the the w_0-w_a plane. We discuss first how such ellypses can be numerically rebuilt, and present then a map of constant-w models whose spectra, at various redshift, are expected to coincide with acceptable models within ~1%.
It has been shown that the observed dark matter (DM) abundance can be produced by amplification of quantum fluctuations of an energetically subdominant scalar field during inflation. In this paper, we study the robustness of this "spectator dark matter" scenario to changes in the expansion rate of the early Universe. Compared to the standard radiation-dominated (RD) scenario, two aspects will change: the DM energy density evolves differently as a function of time, and also the DM isocurvature perturbation spectrum will be different from the result in the RD case. These can impose sizeable chan…
An accurate modelling of baryonic feedback effects is required to exploit the full potential of future weak-lensing surveys such as Euclid or LSST. In this second paper in a series of two, we combine Euclid-like mock data of the cosmic shear power spectrum with an eROSITA X-ray mock of the cluster gas fraction to run a combined likelihood analysis including both cosmological and baryonic parameters. Following the first paper of this series, the baryonic effects (based on the baryonic correction model of Schneider et al. 2019) are included in both the tomographic power spectrum and the covarian…
We discuss the properties of homogeneous and isotropic flat cosmologies in which the present accelerating stage is powered only by the gravitationally induced creation of cold dark matter (CCDM) particles ($Ω_{m}=1$). For some matter creation rates proposed in the literature, we show that the main cosmological functions such as the scale factor of the universe, the Hubble expansion rate, the growth factor and the cluster formation rate are analytically defined. The best CCDM scenario has only one free parameter and our joint analysis involving BAO + CMB + SNe Ia data yields ${\tildeΩ}_{m}= 0.2…
We generalize gravitational particle production in a radiation-dominated $CPT$-symmetric universe to non-standard, but also $CPT$-symmetric early universe cosmologies. We calculate the mass of a right-handed "sterile" neutrino needed for it to be the cosmological dark matter. Since generically sterile neutrinos mix with the Standard Model active neutrinos, we use state-of-the-art tools to compute the expected spectrum of gamma rays and high-energy active neutrinos from ultra-heavy sterile neutrino dark matter decay. We demonstrate that the sterile neutrinos are never in thermal equilibrium in …
Under the commonly used spherical collapse model, we study how dark energy affects the growth of large scale structures of the Universe in the context of agegraphic dark energy models. The dynamics of the spherical collapse of dark matter halos in nonlinear regimes is determined by the properties of the dark energy model. We show that the main parameters of the spherical collapse model are directly affected by the evolution of dark energy in the agegraphic dark energy models. We compute the spherical collapse quantities for different values of agegraphic model parameter $α$ in two different sc…
What are the fundamental limitations of reconstructing the properties of dark energy, given cosmological observations in the quasilinear regime in a range of redshifts, to be as precise as required? The aim of this paper is to address this question by constructing model-independent observables, whilst completely ignoring practical problems of real-world observations. Non-Gaussianities already present in the initial conditions are not directly accessible from observations, because of a perfect degeneracy with the non-Gaussianities arising from the nonlinear matter evolution in generalized dark …
The aim of this paper is to answer the following two questions: (1) Given cosmological observations of the expansion history and linear perturbations in a range of redshifts and scales as precise as is required, which of the properties of dark energy could actually be reconstructed without imposing any parameterization? (2) Are these observables sufficient to rule out not just a particular dark energy model, but the entire general class of viable models comprising a single scalar field? This paper bears both good and bad news. On one hand, we find that the goal of reconstructing dark energy mo…
The Standard Cosmological Model has experienced tremendous success at reproducing observational data by assuming a universe dominated by a cosmological constant and dark matter in a flat geometry. However, several studies, based on local measurements, indicate that the universe is expanding too fast, in disagreement with the Cosmic Microwave Background. Taking into account combined data from CMB, Baryon Acoustic Oscillation, and type Ia Supernovae, we show that if the mechanism behind the production of dark matter particles has at least a small non-thermal origin, one can induce larger values …
We study production of dark matter (DM) in models with a non-standard expansion history. We consider both freeze-out and freeze-in mechanisms for producing the observed DM abundance in a model where the DM consists of scalar singlet particles coupled to the Standard Model sector via the Higgs portal. We show that a non-standard expansion phase can lead to a significant change in the DM abundance and therefore to observational ramifications. For example, for DM freeze-in the required portal coupling can be much larger, whereas for DM freeze-out much smaller values become allowed. We evaluate th…
Cosmological measurements are affected by the energy density of both active and sterile massive neutrinos. We extend here a recent analysis of current cosmological data to non minimal cosmologies. Several possible scenarios are examined: a constant w \neq -1 dark energy equation of state, a non flat universe, a time varying dark energy component and coupled dark matter dark energy universes or modified gravity scenarios. When considering cosmological data only, (3+2) massive neutrino models with ~0.5 eV sterile species are allowed at 95% CL. This scenario has been shown to reconcile reactor, L…
We study the imprints on the formation of cosmic structures of a particular class of dark energy parameterizations dubbed PADE parameterization. Here we investigate how dark energy can affect the growth of large scale structures of the universe in framework of spherical collapse model. The dynamics of the spherical collapse of a dark matter halo depends on the properties of the dark energy model. We show that the properties of spherical collapse scenario are directly affected by the evolution of dark energy. We obtain the main parameters of spherical collapse for two different DE parameterizat…
We test the concordance LCDM cosmology by comparing predictions for the mean properties of galaxy clusters to observations. We use high-resolution N-body simulations of cosmic structure formation and semi-analytic models of galaxy formation to compute the abundance, mean density profile, and mass of galaxy clusters as a function of richness and luminosity, and we compare these predictions to observations of clusters in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) maxBCG catalogue. We discuss the scatter in the mass-richness relation, the reconstruction of the cluster mass function from the mass-richnes…
The Modified Chaplygin Gas (MCG) model belongs to the class of a unified models of dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM). It is characterized by an equation of state (EoS) $p_c = Bρ- A/ρ^α$, where the case $B=0$ corresponds to the Generalized Chaplygin Gas (GCG) model. Using a perturbative analysis and power spectrum observational data we show that the MCG model is not a sucessful candidate for the cosmic medium unless $B=0$. In this case, it reduces to the usual GCG model.
We evaluate our capability to constrain the abundance of primordial tensor perturbations in cosmologies with generalized expansion histories in the epoch of cosmic acceleration. Forthcoming satellite and sub-orbital experiments probing polarization in the CMB are expected to measure the B-mode power in CMB polarization, coming from PGWs on the degree scale, as well as gravitational lensing on arcmin scales; the latter is the main competitor for the measurement of PGWs, and is directly affected by the underlying expansion history, determined by the presence of a DE component. In particular, we …
The spherical collapse model is often used to follow the evolution of overdensities into the nonlinear regime. We describe the correct approach to be used in coupled dark energy cosmologies, where a fifth force, different from gravity and mediated by the dark energy scalar field, influences the collapse. We reformulate the spherical collapse description by deriving it directly from the set of nonlinear hydrodynamical Navier Stokes equations. By comparing with the corresponding relativistic equations, we show how the fifth force should be taken into account within the spherical collapse picture…
We study the spherical collapse model for several dark energy scenarios using the fully nonlinear differential equation for the evolution of the density contrast within homogeneous spherical overdensities derived from Newtonian hydrodynamics. While mathematically equivalent to the more common approach based on the differential equation for the radius of the perturbation, this approach has substantial conceptual as well as numerical advantages. Among the most important are that no singularities at early times appear, which avoids numerical problems in particular in applications to cosmologies w…
Using three-dimensional simulations, we study the dynamics and final structure of merging solitonic cores predicted to form in ultra-light axion dark matter halos. The classical, Newtonian equations of motion of a self-gravitating scalar field are described by the Schrödinger-Poisson equations. We investigate mergers of ground state (boson star) configurations with varying mass ratios, relative phases, orbital angular momenta and initial separation with the primary goal to understand the mass loss of the emerging core by gravitational cooling. Previous results showing that the final density pr…
We use the observed amount of subhaloes and line-of-sight dark matter haloes in a sample of 11 gravitational lens systems from the Sloan Lens ACS Survey to constrain the free-streaming properties of the dark matter particles. In particular, we combine the detection of a small-mass dark matter halo by Vegetti et al. 2010 with the non-detections by Vegetti et al. 2014 and compare the derived subhalo and halo mass functions with expectations from cold dark matter (CDM) and resonantly produced sterile neutrino models. We constrain the half-mode mass, i.e. the mass scale at which the linear matter …
We investigate cosmological models in which dynamical dark energy consists of a scalar field whose present-day value is controlled by a coupling to the neutrino sector. The behaviour of the scalar field depends on three functions: a kinetic function, the scalar field potential, and the scalar field-neutrino coupling function. We present an analytic treatment of the background evolution during radiation- and matter-domination for exponential and inverse power law potentials, and find a relaxation of constraints compared to previous work on the amount of early dark energy in the exponential case…
We present an analysis of the cross-correlation between the CMB and the large-scale structure (LSS) of the Universe in Unified Dark Matter (UDM) scalar field cosmologies. We work out the predicted cross-correlation function in UDM models, which depends on the speed of sound of the unified component, and compare it with observations from six galaxy catalogues (NVSS, HEAO, 2MASS, and SDSS main galaxies, luminous red galaxies, and quasars). We sample the value of the speed of sound and perform a likelihood analysis, finding that the UDM model is as likely as the LambdaCDM, and is compatible with …
(Abridged) An interaction between Cold Dark Matter (CDM) and a classical scalar field playing the role of the cosmic dark energy (DE) might provide long-range dark interactions without conflicting with solar system bounds. Although presently available observations allow to constrain such interactions to a few percent of the gravitational strength, some recent studies have shown that if CDM is composed by two different particle species having opposite couplings to the DE field, such tight constraints can be considerably relaxed, allowing for long-range scalar forces of order gravity without sig…
We investigate the growth of matter fluctuations in holographic dark energy cosmologies. First we use an overall statistical analysis involving the latest observational data in order to place constraints on the cosmological parameters. Then we test the range of validity of the holographic dark energy models at the perturbation level and its variants from the concordance $Λ$ cosmology. Specifically, we provide a new analytical approach in order to derive, for the first time, the growth index of matter perturbations. Considering a homogeneous holographic dark energy we find that the growth index…
Dark energy can be studied by its influence on the expansion of the Universe as well as on the growth history of the large-scale structure. In this paper, we follow the growth of the cosmic density field in early dark energy cosmologies by combining observations of the primary CMB temperature and polarisation power spectra at high redshift, of the CMB lensing deflection field at intermediate redshift and of weak cosmic shear at low redshifts for constraining the allowed amount of early dark energy. We present these forecasts using the Fisher-matrix formalism and consider the combination of Pla…
We analyze the phase space of a particular unified model of dark matter, dark energy, and inflation that we recently studied in [Phys. Rev. D 83, 063502 (2011)] whose Lagrangian is of the form L(X,phi) = F(X) - V(phi). We show that this model possesses a large set of initial conditions consistent with a successful cosmological model in which an inflationary phase is possible, followed by a matter era to end with dark energy domination. In order to understand the success of the model, we study the general features that unified dark matter (UDM) models should comply and then we analyze some part…
Up-to-date cosmological data analyses have shown that \textit{(a)} a closed universe is preferred by the Planck data at more than $99\%$ CL, and \textit{(b)} interacting scenarios offer a very compelling solution to the Hubble constant tension. In light of these two recent appealing scenarios, we consider here an interacting dark matter-dark energy model with a non-zero spatial curvature component and a freely varying dark energy equation of state in both the quintessential and phantom regimes. When considering Cosmic Microwave Background data only, a phantom and closed universe can perfectly …
We computed the power spectrum of weak cosmic shear in models with non-Gaussian primordial density fluctuations. Cosmological initial conditions deviating from Gaussianity have recently attracted much attention in the literature, especially with respect to their effect on the formation of non-linear structures and because of the bounds that they can put on the inflationary epoch. The fully non-linear matter power spectrum was evaluated with the use of the physically motivated, semi-analytic halo model, where the mass function and linear halo bias were suitably corrected for non-Gaussian cosmol…
We study the impact of early dark energy (EDE) cosmologies on galaxy properties by coupling high-resolution numerical simulations with semi-analytic modeling (SAM) of galaxy formation and evolution. EDE models are characterized by a non-vanishing high-redshift contribution of dark energy, producing an earlier growth of structures and a modification of large-scale structure evolution. They can be viewed as typical representatives of non-standard dark energy models in which only the expansion history is modified, and hence the impact on galaxy formation is indirect. We show that in EDE cosmologi…
In this manuscript we reassess the potential of interacting dark matter-dark energy models in solving the Hubble constant tension. These models have been proposed but also questioned as possible solutions to the $H_0$ problem. Here we examine several interacting scenarios against cosmological observations, focusing on the important role played by the calibration of Supernovae data. In order to reassess the ability of interacting dark matter-dark energy scenarios in easing the Hubble constant tension, we systematically confront their theoretical predictions using a prior on the Supernovae Ia ab…
We estimate uncertainties of cosmological parameters for phenomenological interacting dark energy models using weak lensing convergence power spectrum and bispectrum. We focus on the bispectrum tomography and examine how well the weak lensing bispectrum with tomography can constrain the interactions between dark sectors, as well as other cosmological parameters. Employing the Fisher matrix analysis, we forecast parameter uncertainties derived from weak lensing bispectra with a two-bin tomography and place upper bounds on strength of the interactions between the dark sectors. The cosmic shear w…
We present an analytical approximation formula for the luminosity distance in spatially flat cosmologies with dust and a cosmological constant. We also show the approximate formulae for the so-called Dyer-Roeder distance (empty beam case) and the generalised angular diameter distance from redshift $z=z_1$ to $z=z_2$, which are particularly useful in analysing the gravitational lens effects. Our formulae are widely applicable over the range of the density parameter and the redshift with sufficiently small uncertainties. In particular, in the range of density parameter $0.3 \lid Ω_{\rmn m} \lid …
In this paper we probe five cosmological models for which the dark energy equation of state parameter, $w(z)$, is parameterized as a function of redshift using strong lensing data in the galaxy cluster Abell 1689. We constrain the parameters of the $w(z)$ functions by reconstructing the lens model under each one of these cosmologies with strong lensing measurements from two galaxy clusters: Abell 1689 and a mock cluster, Ares, from the Hubble Frontier Fields Comparison Challenge, to validate our methodology. To quantify how the cosmological constraints are biased due to systematic effects in t…
Using the upper bound on the inelastic reaction cross-section implied by S-matrix unitarity, we derive the thermally averaged maximum dark matter (DM) annihilation rate for general $k \rightarrow 2$ number-changing reactions, with $k \geq 2$, taking place either entirely within the dark sector, or involving standard model fields. This translates to a maximum mass of the particle saturating the observed DM abundance, which, for dominantly $s$-wave annihilations, is obtained to be around $130$ TeV, $1$ GeV, $7$ MeV and $110$ keV, for $k=2,3,4$ and $5$, respectively, in a radiation dominated Univ…
We study the observational viability of coupled quintessence models with their expansion and growth histories matched to modified gravity cosmologies. We find that for a Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati model which has been fitted to observations, the matched interacting dark energy models are observationally disfavoured. We also study the distinguishability of interacting dark energy models matched to scalar-tensor theory cosmologies and show that it is not always possible to find a physical interacting dark energy model which shares their expansion and growth histories.
We study non-linear structure formation in an interacting model of the dark sector of the Universe in which the dark energy density decays linearly with the Hubble parameter, $ρ_Λ \propto H$, leading to a constant-rate creation of cold dark matter. We derive all relevant expressions to calculate the mass function and the cluster number density using the Sheth-Torman formalism and show that the effect of the interaction process is to increase the number of bound structures of large masses ($M \gtrsim 10^{14} M_{\odot}h^{-1}$) when compared to the standard $Λ$CDM model. Since these models are no…
The presence of the dark energy allows both the acceleration and the expansion of the universe. In the case of a constant equation of state for dark energy we derived an analytical solution for the Hubble radius in terms of the hypergeometric function. An approximate Taylor expansion of order seven is derived for both the constant and the variable equation of state for dark energy. In the case of the Cardassian cosmology we also derived an analytical solution for the Hubble radius in terms of the hypergeometric function. The astronomical samples of the distance modulus for Supernova (SN) of ty…
We discuss fits of unconventional dark energy models to the available data from high-redshift supernovae, distant galaxies and baryon oscillations. The models are based either on brane cosmologies or on Liouville strings in which a relaxation dark energy is provided by a rolling dilaton field (Q-cosmology). Such cosmologies feature the possibility of effective four-dimensional negative-energy dust and/or exotic scaling of dark matter. We find evidence for a negative-energy dust at the current era, as well as for exotic-scaling (a^{-delta}) contributions to the energy density, with delta ~= 4, …
We present projected constraints on modified gravity models from the observational technique known as 21 cm intensity mapping, where cosmic structure is detected without resolving individual galaxies. The resulting map is sensitive to both BAO and weak lensing, two of the most powerful cosmological probes. It is found that a 200 m x 200 m cylindrical telescope, sensitive out to z=2.5, would be able to distinguish DGP from most dark energy models, and constrain the Hu & Sawicki f(R) model to |f_{R0}| < 9*10^(-6) at 95% confidence. The latter constraint makes extensive use of the lensing spectru…
In this work we analyse the properties of cosmic voids in standard and coupled dark energy cosmologies. Using large numerical simulations, we investigate the effects produced by the dark energy coupling on three statistics: the filling factor, the size distribution and the stacked profiles of cosmic voids. We find that the bias of the tracers of the density field used to identify the voids strongly influences the properties of the void catalogues, and, consequently, the possibility of using the identified voids as a probe to distinguish coupled dark energy models from the standard $Λ$CDM cosmo…
We examine the counts-in-cells probability distribution functions that describe dark matter halos in the Dark Energy Universe Simulations (DEUS). We describe the measurements between redshifts $z=0$ to $z=4$ on both linear and non-linear scales. The best-fits of the gravitational quasi-equilibrium distribution (GQED), the negative binomial distribution (NBD), the Poisson-Lognormal distribution (PLN), and the Poisson-Lognormal distribution with a bias parameter (PLNB) are compared to simulations. The fits agree reasonably consistently over a range of redshifts and scales. To distinguish quintes…
