We calculate the mass and decay constant of the $D_2^*(2460)$ tensor meson in the framework of QCD sum rules. The obtained result on the mass is compatible with the experimental data. Our prediction on the decay constant can be checked in experiment.
In this paper, we investigate phenomenologically two-body weak decays of the bottom mesons emitting pseudoscalar and tensor mesons. Decay amplitudes are obtained using the factorization scheme in the improved ISGW II model. Branching ratios for the CKM-favored and CKM-suppressed decays are calculated.
While the ground-state tensor ($J^{PC}=2^{++}$) mesons $a_{2}(1320)$, $K_{2}^{\ast}(1430)$, $f_{2}(1270)$, and $f_{2}^{\prime}(1525)$ are well known experimentally and form an almost ideal nonet of quark-antiquark states, their chiral partners, the ground-states axial-tensor ($J^{PC}=2^{--}$) mesons are poorly settled: only the kaonic member $K_2(1820)$ of the nonet has been experimentally found, whereas the isovector state $ρ_2$ and two isoscalar states $ω_2$ and $ϕ_2$ are still missing. Here, we study masses, strong, and radiative decays of tensor and axial-tensor mesons within a chiral mode…
In this paper, we investigate phenomenologically two-body weak decays of the bottom mesons emitting pseudoscalar/vector meson and a tensor meson. Form factors are obtained using the improved ISGW II model. Consequently, branching ratios for the CKM-favored and CKM-suppressed decays are calculated.
Two-body hadronic weak decays of Bc meson involving tensor meson in the final state are studied by using Isgur- Scora-Grinstein-Wise (ISGW II) model. Decay amplitudes are obtained using the factorization scheme in the Spectator Quark Model. Branching ratios for the charm changing and bottom changing decay modes are predicted.
The strong and electromagnetic decays of the ground-state tensor mesons are studied in an effective field approach. A fit to the well-known experimental data is performed. The decay ratios of the tensor glueball are evaluated and possible candidates are discussed.
We point out that hard exclusive production of tensor mesons $f_2(1270)$ with helicity $λ=\pm 2$ is dominated by the gluon component in the meson wave function and can be used to determine gluon admixture in tensor mesons in a theoretically clean manner. We present a detailed analysis of the tensor meson distribution amplitudes and calculate the transition form factor $γ+γ^*\to f_2(1270)$ for one real and one virtual photon.
The magnetic dipole moments of the light tensor mesons $f_2$, $a_2$ and strange $K_2^{\ast 0} (1430)$ tensor meson are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules. It is observed that the values of the magnetic dipole moment for the charged tensor particles are considerably different from zero. These values are very close to zero for the light neutral $f_2$ and $a_2$ tensor mesons, while it has a small nonzero value for the neutral strange $K_2^{\ast 0} (1430)$ tensor meson.
Tensor meson photoproduction is described as either a direct production process or a consequence of the final state ππinteractions. We calculate the mass distributions for selected partial waves and confront our predictions with the measurements of the CLAS experiment. We also point out the structures in the photoproduction amplitudes which may result in observable effects able to indicate the dominant tensor meson photoporduction mechanism.
Using the recent results for the two-parton light-cone distribution amplitudes of the tensor meson, we calculate the form factors for the decays of $B_{u,d,s}$ into the light $J^{PC}=2^{++}$ tensor mesons via the vector/axial-vector/tensor current with the light-cone sum rules. We also obtain the $q^2$-dependence of the form factors.
A quarkonium-gluonium mixing scheme previously developed to describe the characteristic of the pseudoscalar mesons is applied to axial and tensor mesons. The parameters of the model are determined by fitting the eigenvalues of a mass matrix. The corresponding eigenvectors give the proportion of light quarks, strange quarks and glueball in each meson. However the predictions of the model for branching ratios and electromagnetic decays are incompatible with the experimental results. These results suggest the absence of gluonic components in the states of axial and tensor isosinglet mesons analyz…
The transition form factors of the radiative decays of the heavy tensor mesons to heavy pseudoscalar and heavy vector mesons are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules method at the point $Q^2=0$. Using the obtained values of the transition form factors at the point $Q^2=0$ the corresponding decay widths are estimated. The results show that the radiative decays of the heavy--light tensor mesons can be measurable in the future planned experiments at LHCb.
We calculate the masses and decay constants of the light tensor mesons with quantum numbers $J^P =2^+$ in the framework of the QCD sum rules in the standard model. The non-perturbative contributions up to dimension-$5$ as important terms of the operator product expansion are considered.
Analysis of the isoscalar S- and D-waves of processes pi-pi-> pi-pi, K-Kbar, eta-eta is carried out aimed at studying the status and QCD nature of scalar and tensor mesons below 2 GeV and 2.3 GeV, respectively. Assignment of these mesons to lower scalar and tensor nonets is proposed.
The contributions of the lightest tensor-meson resonances to the low-energy coupling constants of second order chiral perturbation theory with two flavours are evaluated and compared with the available phenomenological information as well as with similar results for other resonances.
We compute the inclusive cross-section of $f_{2}$ tensor mesons production in proton-proton collisions at high-energy. We use an effective theory inspired from the tensor meson dominance hypothesis that couples gluons to $f_{2}$ mesons. We compute the differential cross-section in the $k_{\perp}$-factorization and in the Color Glass Condensate formalism in the low density regime. We show that the two formalisms are equivalent for this specific observable. Finally, we study the phenomenology of $f_{2}$ mesons by comparing theoretical predictions of different parameterizations of the unintegrate…
We present a study for two-quark light-cone distribution amplitudes for the $1^3D_2$ light tensor meson states with quantum number $J^{PC}=2^{--}$. Because of the G-parity, the chiral-even two-quark light-cone distribution amplitudes of this tensor meson are antisymmetric under the interchange of momentum fractions of the quark and antiquark in the SU(3) limit, while the chiral-odd ones are symmetric. The asymptotic leading-twist LCDAs with the strange quark mass correction are shown. We estimate the relevant parameters, the decay constants $f_T$ and $f_T^\perp$, and first Gegenbauer moment $a…
We complete the analysis of meson resonance contributions to chiral low-energy constants of O(p^4) by including all quark-antiquark bound states with orbital angular momentum less or equal to one. Different tensor meson Lagrangians used in previous work are shown to produce the same final results for the low-energy constants once QCD short-distance constraints are properly implemented. We also discuss the possible relevance of axial-vector mesons with odd C-parity.
The masses and decay constants of the ground state heavy $χ_{Q2}(Q=b,c)$ tensor mesons are calculated in the framework of the QCD sum rules approach. The obtained results on the masses are in good consistency with the experimental values. Our predictions on the decay constants can be verified in the future experiments.
The magnetic dipole moments of the ${\cal D}_2$, and ${\cal D}_{S_2}$, ${\cal B}_2$, and ${\cal B}_{S_2}$ heavy tensor mesons are estimated in framework of the light cone QCD sum rules. It is observed that the magnetic dipole moments for the charged mesons are larger than that of its neutral counterpart. It is found that the $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry violation is about 10\% in both $b$ and $c$ sectors.
We considered the electro- and photoproduction of ρand other vector mesons with moderately large transverse momentum in the scattering of unpolarized electrons on unpolarized nucleons and nuclei. For these processes we have analyzed how to extract the novel fragmentation functions \bar b_1^q(z), \bar b_1^G(z), describing tensor polarization, and the photon double spin-flip distribution Δ^γfrom the angular distribution of meson decay products.
Strong decay constants of the heavy tensor to heavy pseudoscalar (vector) and light pseudoscalar mesons are estimated within the light cone QCD sum rules. It is obtained that the values of these coupling constants are very strongly dependent on the choice of the Lorentz structure. Moreover, using these strong coupling constants the corresponding decay widths are calculated.
The mass and decay constant of the ground state strange tensor meson $K_2^*(1430)$ with $I(J^P)=1/2(2^+)$ is calculated using the QCD sum rules method. The results are consistent with the experimental data. It is found that SU(3) symmetry breaking effect constitutes about $20^0/_0$ of the decay constant.
J/psi and psi' decay to mesons are a good place to look for glueballs, hybrids and for extracting strange and nonstrange components in mesons. Abundant J/psi and psi' events have been collected at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). More data will be collected at upgraded BEPC and CLEO-C. Here we provide explicit PWA formulae for many interesting channels in the covariant tensor formalism.
The Cabibbo-suppressed non-leptonic decays of B (and D) mesons to final states involving tensor mesons are computed using the non-relativistic quark model of Isgur-Scora-Grinstein-Wise with the factorization hypothesis. We find that some of these B decay modes, as B --> (K^*, D^*)D^*_2, can have branching ratios as large as 6 x 10^{-5} which seems to be at the reach of future B factories.
The nonleptonic two body $B_{u,d,s,c}$ decays involving a light tensor meson in final states are studied in the perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization. The decay modes with a tensor meson emitted, are prohibited in naive factorization, since the emission diagram with a tensor meson produced from vacuum is vanished. While contributions from the so-called hard scattering emission diagrams and annihilation type diagrams are important and calculable in the perturbative QCD approach. The branching rations of most decays are in the range of $10^{-4}$ to $10^{-8}$, which are bigger by…
We study the $B(B_{s})\rightarrow D_{(s)}(\bar{D}_{(s)})\,T$ and $D_{(s)}^{\ast}(\bar{D}_{(s)}^{*})\,T$ decays in perturbative QCD approach, where T denotes a light tensor meson. In addition to the branching ratios, we also give predictions to the polarization fractions for the $D^{*}_{(s)}(\bar{D}_{(s)}^{*})T$ decays. For those decays with a tensor meson emitted, the factorizable emission diagrams do not contribute because of lorentz covariance considerations. In order to give the predictions to these decay channels, it is necessary to go beyond the naive factorization to calculate the nonfac…
The thermal properties of $f_{2}(1270)$, $a_{2}(1320)$ and $K_2^*(1430)$ light tensor mesons are investigated in the framework of QCD sum rules at finite temperature. In particular, the masses and decay constants of the light tensor mesons are calculated taking into account the new operators appearing at finite temperature. The numerical results show that at the point which the temperature-dependent continuum threshold vanishes, the decay constants decrease with amount of $(70-85)\%$ compared to their vacuum values, while the masses diminish about $(60-72)\%$ depending on the kinds of the meso…
We perform simultaneous calculations of the radiative decays of scalar mesons f_0(980)-> γγ, a_0(980)-> γγ, vector meson ϕ(1020)-> γf_0(980), γa_0(980), γπ^0, γη, γη' and tensor mesons a_2(1320)-> γγ, f_2(1270)-> γγ, f_2(1525)-> γγassuming all these states to be dominantly the q\bar q ones. A good description of the considered radiative decays is reached by using almost the same radial wave functions for scalar and tensor mesons that supports the idea for the f_0(980), a_0(980) and a_2(1320), f_2(1270), f_2(1525) to belong to the same P -wave q\bar q multiplet.
For the first time, a solution to the $a_2/a_1$ sign problem in heavy meson decay based on PQCD factorization theorems. The point is to include QCD evolution effort characteristic scales involved in decay processes.
In this article, the tensor-vector-pseudoscalar type of vertex is analyzed with the QCD sum rules and the local-QCD sum rules. Correspondingly, the hadronic coupling constants of D2*(2460), Ds2*(2573), B2*(5747) and Bs2*(5840), and their decay widths are calculated. The results indicate that the QCD sum rules and the local-QCD sum rules give the consistent descriptions. Finally, the full widths of these 4 tensor mesons are discussed in detail.
We re-analyze hadronic decays of B mesons to a pseudoscalar (P) and a tensor meson (T), or a vector meson (V) and a tensor meson, through a $b \to c$ transition. We discuss possible large uncertainties to branching ratios (BR's) of the relevant modes, mainly arising from uncertainties to the hadronic form factors for the $B \to T$ transition. The BR's and CP asymmetries for $B \to PT$ and VT decays are then calculated by using the form factors given in the ISGW2 model (the improved version of the original Isgur-Scora-Grinstein-Wise (ISGW) model). We find that the estimated BR's of many modes a…
Charmed meson decays into a pseudoscalar meson P and a tensor meson T are studied. The charm to tensor meson transition form factors are evaluated in the Isgur-Scora-Grinstein-Wise (ISGW) quark model. It is shown that the Cabibbo-allowed decay $D_s^+\to f_2(1270)π^+$ is dominated by the W-annihilation contribution and has the largest branching ratio in $D\to TP$ decays. We argue that the Cabibbo-suppressed mode $D^+\to f_2(1270)π^+$ should be suppressed by one order of magnitude relative to $D_s^+\to f_2(1270)π^+$. When the finite width effect of the tensor resonances is taken into account, th…
We study two-body charmless hadronic decays of $B$ mesons to a pseudoscalar meson ($P$) and a tensor meson ($T$) in the frameworks of both flavor SU(3) symmetry and generalized factorization. Certain ways to test validity of the generalized factorization are proposed, based on the flavor SU(3) analysis. We present a set of relations between a flavor SU(3) amplitude and a corresponding amplitude in the generalized factorization which bridge both approaches in $B \to PT$ decays. The branching ratios and CP asymmetries are calculated using the \emph{full} effective Hamiltonian including all the \…

We study Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) favored weak decays of Bc mesons in the Isgur-Scora-Grinstein-Wise (ISGW) quark model. We present a detailed analysis of the Bc meson decaying to a pseudoscalar meson (P) and an axial-vector meson (A). We also give the form factors involving transition in the ISGW II framework and consequently, predict the branching ratios of decays.
The mass and current coupling constant of the $D_{s2}^* (2573)$ charmed-strange meson is calculated in the framework of two-point QCD sum rule approach. Although the quantum numbers of this meson is not exactly known, its width and decay modes are consistent with $I(J^P)=0(2^+)$, which we consider to write the interpolating current used in our calculations. Replacing the light strange quark with up or down quark we also compare the results with those of $D_{2}^*$ charmed tensor meson and estimate the order of SU(3) flavor symmetry violation.
This work is devoted to the discussion and characterization of the tensor $2^{-(-)}$ meson spectrum, by making use of the Coulomb gauge Hamiltonian approach to QCD, with the interactions being given by an improved confining potential and a transverse hyperfine interaction, whose kernel is a Yukawa-type potential. Our aim is to study the basic features of $2^{-(-)}$ mesons within an unified framework through the whole range of quark masses. We concentrate our investigation on predictions of expected but yet-unobserved ground states of unflavored light mesons and on charmonium and bottomonium st…
Two-body non-leptonic decays of B mesons into PT and VT modes are calculated using the non-relativistic quark model of Isgur et al.. The predictions obtained for $B \to πD^*_2, ρD_2^*$ are a factor of $3\sim 5$ below present experimental upper limits. Interesting patterns are obtained for ratios of B decays involving mesons with different spin excitations and their relevance for additional tests of forms factor models are briefly discussed.
We present a detailed study of the two-parton light-cone distribution amplitudes for $1\,^3P_2$ nonet tensor mesons. The asymptotic two-parton distribution amplitudes of twist-2 and twist-3 are given. The decay constants $f_T$ and $f_T^\bot$ defined by the matrices of non-local operators on the lightcone are estimated using the QCD sum rule techniques. We also study the decay constants for $f_2(1270)$ and $f_2^\prime(1525)$ based on the hypothesis of tensor meson dominance together with the data of $Γ(f_2\to ππ)$ and $Γ(f'_2\to K\bar K)$ and find that the results are in accordance with the sum…
Two-photon decays of rho and omega mesons and strong decays rho -> eta pi and omega -> pi pi are described in the quark Nambu-Jona-Lasinio(NJL) model in dense medium. Decays of rho-meson are especially interesting because they contain intermediate a_0-meson which became a sharp resonance in the vicinity of phase transition of hadron matter into quark-gluon plasma. This leads to increasing rho decay width and, as a result, two-photon decay of rho-meson in medium became comparable with two-photon decays of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons in vacuum. Similar effect take place in the strong decay rh…
We consider hard electroproduction of mesons at twist-3 level and focus our attention on helicity flip amplitudes corresponding to the production of transversely polarized mesons by transverse photons. We demonstrate that helicity-flip amplitude for the transversely polarized particles are closely related to the contributions of the matrix elements of the tensor gluon operator which can serve as pure gluonic probe of the hadrons. Using standard factorisation approach and Wanzura-Wilczek approximation for the twist-3 matrix elements we find that such amplitudes do not have divergencies from the…
We investigate the weak decays of $B_c$ mesons in Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa favored and suppressed modes. We present a detailed analysis of the $B_c$ meson decaying to vector meson (V) and axial-vector meson (A) in the final state. We also give the form factors involving $B_c \to A$ transition in the Isgur-Scora-Grinstein-Wise II framework and consequently, predict the branching ratios of $B_c \to V A$ and $AA$ decays.
Since the degree of polarization of the vector particle in semileptonic decay strongly influences the decay width of the particles, it can be used as a measure of CKM matrix elements. We show that |V_{cb}| can be determined from the measurement of polarization of vector meson in B,B_c --> V l nu decay, where $V$ is vector meson.
We investigate the masses and decay constants of the heavy-light $D_2^*(2460)$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)$ tensor mesons in the framework of thermal QCD sum rules. Taking into account the additional operators arising at finite temperature, we evaluate the Wilson expansion for the two-point correlation function associated with these mesons. We observe that the values of the masses and decay constants decrease considerably at near to the critical temperature. The decay constants attain roughly to $25\%$ of their values in vacuum, while the masses decrease about $39\%$ and $37\%$ in $D_2^*$ and $D_{s2}^…
We consider meson radiative decays within the framework of $U_0(1)\times U(1)\times SU(2)$ gauge symmetry. This approach is based on the linear sigma-model extended by the gauge and quark-meson interactions. Physical content and parameters of the model are discussed. Theoretical predictions for some radiative decays of vector mesons are in a good agreement with the experimental data.
Aspects of Scalar Meson Dominance in semi- and non-leptonic weak pseudoscalar meson decays are shortly discussed on the basis of the Quark-Level Linear Sigma Model.
We present a detailed analysis of exclusive semileptonic decays of Bc meson involving pseudoscalar and vector mesons in the BSW framework, by investigating the effects of the flavor dependence on the average transverse quark momentum inside a meson. Branching ratios of exclusive semileptonic decays of Bc meson are predicted.
It is shown that new data on the $(J^{PC}=2^{++})$-resonances in the mass range $M\sim1700-2400 $MeV support the linearity of the $(n,M^2)$-trajectories, where $n$ is the radial quantum number of quark--antiquark state. In this way all vacancies for the isoscalar tensor $q\bar q$-mesons in the range up to 2450 MeV are filled in. This allows one to fix the broad $f_2$-state with $M=2000\pm30 $MeV and $Γ=530\pm40 $MeV as the lowest tensor glueball. PACS numbers: 14.40.-n, 12.38.-t, 12.39.-Mk
We investigate the nonleptonic decay of charmed meson into two pseudoscalar mesons using the vector--dominance model, and compare the results with those obtained from the factorization model. In particular, we discuss the role of the annihilation diagrams in the two models.
We study three-body nonleptonic decays $B\to VVP$ by introducing two-meson distribution amplitudes for the vector-pseudoscalar pair, such that the analysis is simplified into the one for two-body decays. The twist-2 and twist-3 $ϕK$ two-meson distribution amplitudes, associated with longitudinally and transversely polarized $ϕ$ mesons, are constrained by the experimental data of the $τ\toϕKν$ and $B\toϕKγ$ branching ratios. We then predict the $B\toϕKγ$ and $B\toϕϕK$ decay spectra in the $ϕK$ invariant mass. Since the resonant contribution in the $ϕK$ channel is negligible, the above decay spe…
The problem of $ρ$- and $ω$- mesons contributions to the background for $η\to π^0 e^+e^-$ decay and to the asymmetries in the decays $η\to π^+π^-π^0$ and $η\to π^+π^-γ$ is considered.
Two body nonleptonic weak decays of bottom mesons to a pseudoscalar meson and an axial-vector meson involving charmed states are studied using the non-relativistic quark model. We calculate the branching ratios of these decays by employing the factorization hypothesis. Obtained results are in good agreement with the existing experimental data. We also calculated the branching ratios in the light of heavy quark symmetry constraints and compared with the exiting theoretical analyses.
Form factors of $D$ decays into $J^{PC}=2^{++}$ tensor mesons are calculated in the light-cone sum rules approach up to twist-4 distribution amplitudes of the tensor meson. The masses of the tensor mesons are comparable to that of the charm quark mass $m_c$; therefore all terms including powers of $m_T/m_c$ are kept out in the expansion of the two-particle distribution amplitude $\langle T|\bar q_{1α}(x) \, q_{2δ}(0)|0\rangle$. Branching ratios of the semileptonic $D \to T\,μ\,\barν_μ$ decays and nonleptonic $D\to T~ P ~(P=K, π)$ decays are taken into consideration. A comparison is also made b…
