We present the results of searches for Supersymmetry in various topologies that lead to final states with jets and missing transverse momentum together with one or more isolated leptons, one or two photons or a photon and a lepton. The searches are performed using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in pp-collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. Various data- driven techniques used to measure the Standard Model backgrounds are discussed. The results are interpreted in the CMSSM framework.
Highlights are presented of current searches for supersymmetry produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, operating at sqrt(s)=7TeV. Searches with missing transverse energy are summarized from both the ATLAS and CMS experiments. A wide range of final states is covered, including recent searches with photons, leptons, and purely hadronic final states. Future developments are anticipated with extra focus on exclusive searches in electroweak and third-generation supersymmetry production.
The results for searches for Supersymmetry (SUSY) at the Tevatron Collider are summarized in this paper. We focus here on searches for trileptons and the lightest stop, as well as scenarios with R-parity violation and split supersymmetry. No significant excesses with respect to the Standard Model were observed and constraints are set on the SUSY parameter space.
The D0 and CDF experiments at the proton-antiproton collider Tevatron have extensively searched for the Higgs boson and signals of supersymmetry using a wide range of signatures. The status of these searches is reviewed with a focus on recent measurements.
Searches for R-parity violating supersymmetry performed at the H1 experiment are presented. Emphasis is put on searches for squarks, which may be resonantly produced at the HERA $ep$ collider in supersymmetry where R-parity is violated. The preliminary results presented here were obtained using data collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 320 GeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 63 pb$^{-1}$.
CDF and D0 collaborations analyzed up to 200 pb-1 of the delivered data in search for different supersymmetry signatures, so far with negative results. We present results on searches for chargino and neutralino associated production, squarks and gluinos, sbottom quarks, gauge mediated SUSY breaking and long lived heavy particles.
We present the current status of searches for supersymmetry performed at the Tevatron accelerator at Fermilab by the CDF and D0 collaborations using luminosity of up to 2.1 fb-1. We focus on searches for charginos, neutralinos, squarks, gluinos and sneutrinos in several supersymmetric scenarios. No supersymmetric signal is detected and limits on the masses and production cross sections for the supersymmetric particles are set.
This document is a brief review of some of the most relevant searches for Supersymmetry carried out at the Tevatron and the LHC collider experiments, until the end of August 2011. Different final states covering R-parity conserving and violating scenarios have been scrutinized and no significant deviation from the Standard Model has been observed. As a result, new limits on the Supersymmetry parameter space have been established.
Recent results from CMS are reviewed for searches for supersymmetry in final states with multiple bottom quark jets. Results are based on the full 2012 CMS dataset consisting of 19.5 fb-1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. In particular, searches for final states with multiple b-jets and one or two leptons are presented. These final states are of special interest in the context of the search for third generation squarks in gluino or sbottom cascade decays, as predicted by natural supersymmetry.
Searches for production of supersymmetric partners of gluons and quarks with the CMS experiment at CERN's LHC have excluded these particles for masses up to about 2 TeV. The paper will present results and show the analysis techniques in these searches, with an emphasis on the use of razor variables for the discrimination between standard model backgrounds and signal.
Searches for supersymmetry were conducted using the 35 pb-1 of data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2010, at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A wide variety of final states featuring jets and missing transverse energy, possibly with leptons, were investigated. The data, consistent with the standard-model hypothesis, allow us to set limits on the existence of new physics, extending those previously obtained at the Tevatron and LEP.
Some theories of particle physics are so compelling that it is worth doing a comprehensive and systematic set of experimental searches to see if they are realized in nature. Supersymmetry is one such theory. This review focuses on the motivation for a broad set of cosmology-inspired search strategies at the Tevatron and on their implementation and results at the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) with the first few fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity of data.
A search for supersymmetry in the context of general gauge-mediated (GGM) breaking with the lightest neutralino as the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle and the gravitino as the lightest is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 36 inverse picobarns recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed using events containing two or more isolated photons, at least one hadronic jet, and significant missing transverse energy. No excess of events at high missing transverse energy is observed. Upper limits on the signal cross section for GGM super…
The search for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics is one of the major tasks of the LHC, CERN. In these proceedings, I review the status of searches for Supersymmetry by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations. The efforts in both the hadronic and leptonic search channels are presented. A special focus is placed on the treatment of approximately one inverse femtobarn of early LHC data, and examples of background estimation techniques in such a dataset are given. Phenomenologically, besides "typical" mSUGRA scenarios, signatures based on prompt and non-pointing photons, as well as long-lived lepto…
The negative outcome of gaugino searches at LEP has been one of the most disappointing results for fans of supersymmetric models. In the framework of minimal supersymmetric models with GUT unification assumptions, the combined absence of supersymmetry and Higgs signals in the LEP data, sets stringent constraints on the models parameter space, and lower limits on the mass of the lightest neutralino and of other supersymmetric particles. All limits are given at 95% Confidence Level.
Both Tevatron experiments, D0 and CDF, have searched for signs of Supersymmetry in the present Run II data sample, using integrated luminosities of up to 260/pb collected in ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96TeV. In these proceedings, new results are presented in the search for squarks and gluinos in the jets and missing transverse energy final state, associated production of charginos and neutralinos with multilepton final states, search for the rare decay B_s->mumu, searches allowing R-parity violation (muons+jets, multileptons), and searches in the gauge mediated supersymme…
This talk presents results from the CMS and ATLAS Collaborations from searches for physics beyond the Standard Model motivated by supersymmetry from Run 1 of the LHC. Representative searches are described to illustrate the diverse nature of the search program in both background estimation techniques and final state topologies. The status of preparation for Run 2 searches at 13 TeV is also presented.
The results of searches for supersymmetry by the CMS experiment are interpreted in the framework of simplified models. The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.73 to 4.98 inverse femtobarns. The data were collected at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. This paper describes the method of interpretation and provides upper limits on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction as a function of new particle masses for a number of simplified models. These limits and the corresponding experimental accepta…
A search for supersymmetry is presented using a sample of events with b jets and missing transverse momentum. The search uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 inverse picobarns, collected with the CMS detector. A total of 0.33 +0.43 -0.33 (stat.) +/- 0.13 (syst.) events is predicted, using control samples in the data, to arise from standard model processes, and one event is observed in the data. Upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the cross sections of benchmark supersymmetric models.
In these proceedings, we present all of the Run II results in the search for Supersymmetry from the Tevatron. At the time of presentation ~200 pb-1 of Run II data had been analyzed for the presence of new physics. We summarize searches for CHAMPS, Squarks and Gluinos in the jets+Missing Transverse Energy (MET) final state, multiple dilepton final state analyses including B_s=>mumu, RPV Sneutrinos and Chargino/Neutralino production, and conclude with GMSB searches in the two photon + Met final state. While there is no evidence of new physics, we do note some interesting events and modest excess…
CDF and DO detectors have already collected 1.3 fb^{-1} of data delivered by the Tevatron collider at 1.96 TeV center-of-mass energy. We present here the various analyses that are currently testing the possibility of a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. No evidence for such processes have been found in luminosities that range from 300 to 800 pb^{-1} and different limits on the different supersymmetric models are set. Constraints coming from indirect searches are also presented.
The searches for supersymmetric and beyond Standard Model Higgs boson with the ATLAS detector are presented. The results are based on integrated luminosity of 35 pb$^{-1}$ to 1.6 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data recorded at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at LHC. No signal is observed in any of the investigated channel and exclusion limits on production cross-sections are given as function of Higgs boson mass and of minimal supersymmetric model parameters.
This is a review of searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) with the ATLAS detector in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The review covers results that have been published, or submitted for publication, up to September 2012, many of which cover the full 7 TeV data-taking period. No evidence for SUSY has been seen; some possibilities for future directions are discussed.
We present the results of a search for anomalous production of diphoton events with large missing transverse energy using the Collider Detector at Fermilab. In 202 $\invpb$ of $\ppbar$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV we observe no candidate events, with an expected standard model background of $0.27\pm0.07({\rm stat})\pm0.10({\rm syst})$ events. The results exclude a lightest chargino of mass less than 167 GeV/$c^2$, and lightest neutralino of mass less than 93 GeV/$c^2$ at 95% C.L. in a gauge--mediated supersymmetry-- breaking model with a light gravitino.
We present a search for Physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) in final states with a Z boson, jets and missing transverse energy, using a data sample collected in 2011 by the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 /fb. This final state is predicted in several models of Physics beyond the SM, including supersymmetry. A novel analysis method is exploited, the Jet-Z Balance method, and a precise determination of the total SM background is obtained using a control sample from data. In the absence of any significant excess beyond the SM backgroun…
Results are reported for a search for supersymmetry in final states with photons and missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using the CMS detector. The results are interpreted in the context of models of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Production cross section limits are set on gluino and squark pair production in this framework. Gluino masses below 1.86 TeV and squark masses below 1.59 TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level.
With almost 0.5fb-1 of ppbar-collisions delivered in Tevatron Run II, both experiments CDF and D0 are reporting first results from a vast number of search analyses. This article summarizes the current status of Tevatron searches for Higgs bosons within the Standard Model and its extensions as well as direct searches for supersymmetric particles. Signatures for production of squarks, gluinos, charginos and neutralinos as predicted by gravity- and gauge-mediated SUSY breaking scenarios have been considered. No evidence for Higgs bosons or SUSY particles has been found so far. New limits are deri…
The searches for supersymmetric particles by the four LEP experiments, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3, OPAL, have been made for many different theoretical models and phenomenological scenarios. Since no significant signs of a SUSY signal have been observed the results have been used to set exclusion limits and to constrain the supersymmetric parameter space. This talk will focus on combined SUSY searches, within the mSUGRA framework, from the four LEP experiments. The results are based mainly on the data recorded between the years 1996-2000, which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb$^{-1}$ an…
In this paper, a search for supersymmetry (SUSY) is presented in events with two opposite-sign isolated leptons in the final state, accompanied by hadronic jets and missing transverse energy. An artificial neural network is employed to discriminate possible SUSY signals from a standard model background. The analysis uses a data sample collected with the CMS detector during the 2011 LHC run, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.98 inverse femtobarns of proton-proton collisions at the center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. Compared to other CMS analyses, this one uses relaxed criteria on miss…
Recent results of searches for events containing isolated leptons and missing transverse momentum at HERA are presented. Searches in this final state have yielded notable excesses over Standard Model expectations in the past. Searches for isolated leptons in channels corresponding to all three generations of leptons over the full HERA running period are now available. The combined H1+ZEUS results for searches for electrons and muons are compatible with the Standard Model.
Searches for physics beyond the standard model are considered one of the corner stones of the physics program at the two multipurpose experiments, ATLAS and CMS, at the LHC. Both experiments have conducted numerous searches for new supersymmetric particles in a wide variety of final states at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. The datasets discussed in these proceedings consist of 36 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions collected during the 2016 run of the LHC. No signs of new physics are found, however, limits on different supersymmetric scenarios are placed and extend previous …
We present the results of a search for supersymmetry with gauge-mediated breaking and $\NONE\toγ\Gravitino$ in the $γγ$+missing transverse energy final state. In 2.6$\pm$0.2 \invfb of $p{\bar p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$$=$1.96 TeV recorded by the CDF II detector we observe no candidate events, consistent with a standard model background expectation of 1.4$\pm$0.4 events. We set limits on the cross section at the 95% C.L. and place the world's best limit of 149\gevc on the \none mass at $τ_{\tildeχ_1^0}$$<<$1 ns. We also exclude regions in the \none\ mass-lifetime plane for $τ_{\tildeχ_1^0}$$\…
Searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) are performed using a sample of hadronic events produced in 8 TeV pp collisions at the CERN LHC. The searches are based on the MT2 variable, which is a measure of the transverse momentum imbalance in an event. The data were collected with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 inverse femtobarns. Two related searches are performed. The first is an inclusive search based on signal regions defined by the value of the MT2 variable, the hadronic energy in the event, the jet multiplicity, and the number of jets identified as originating…

The study is based on a sample of proton-proton collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector in 2015, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 inverse femtobarns. Final states with two photons and significant missing transverse energy are used to search for supersymmetric particles in models of supersymmetry (SUSY) with general gauge-mediated (GGM) supersymmetry breaking. No excess is observed with respect to the standard model expectation,…
In this article results from supersymmetry searches at D0 and CDF are reported. Searches for third generation squarks, searches for gauginos, and searches for models with R-parity violation are described. As no signs of supersymmetry for these models are observed, the most stringent limits to date are presented.
Recent results in the search for supersymmetry in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and sqrt(s) = 8 TeV by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC are reviewed. After discussing features of inclusive analyses and the presentation of results, emphasis will be put on searches for the third generation squarks, on searches for gauginos, and on possible ways supersymmetry could escape the present analyses.
A search for production of supersymmetric particles in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum, and at least one hadronically decaying tau lepton is presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in sqrt(s) = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation was observed in 2.05 fb-1 of data. The results are interpreted in the context of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models with Mmess = 250 TeV, N5 = 3, mu > 0, and Cgrav = 1. The production of supersymmetric particles is excluded at 95% C.…

We present an update of a search for supersymmetry in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum, and one isolated electron or muon, using 1.04 fb^-1 of proton-proton collision data at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in the first half of 2011. The analysis is carried out in four distinct signal regions with either three or four jets and variations on the (missing) transverse momentum cuts, resulting in optimized limits for various supersymmetry models. No excess above the standard model background expectation is observed. Limits are set on the visible…
The sensitivity for CMS searches for supersymmetry is evaluated in the context of an upgraded LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 14 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 300 fb-1. No significant excess is observed with respect to the prediction for Standard Model processes. Results are interpreted in a variety of R-parity conserving models in which scalar bottoms and tops are the only scalar quarks to appear in the gluino decay cascade, and in an SO(10) model framework. Gluino masses up to …

The analyzed data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.14 inverse femtobarns. In this search, a kinematic variable, alphaT, is used as the main discriminator between events with genuine and misreconstructed missing transverse energy. No excess of events over the standard model expectation is found. Exclusion limits in the parameter space of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model a…
New and recent results on Supersymmetry searches are shown for the ATLAS and the CMS experiments. Analyses with about 36 fb$^{-1}$ are considered for searches concerning light squarks and gluinos, direct pair production of 3$^{rd}$ generation squarks, electroweak production of charginos, neutralinos, sleptons, R-parity violating scenarios and long-lived particles.
This paper reviews some of the most recent results from CDF and D0 experiments on searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) at the Tevatron. We focus on searches for chargino/neutralino, stop, sbottom, and long lived massive SUSY particles, on data samples up to ~1 fb-1. No signal was observed, and constraints are set on the SUSY parameter space.
Results are presented of a search for supersymmetric particles in events with large missing transverse momentum and at least one heavy flavour jet candidate in sqrt{s} = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb-1 recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, no significant excess is observed with respect to the prediction for Standard Model processes. For R-parity conserving models in which sbottoms (stops) are the only squarks to appear in the gluino decay cascade, gluino masses below 590 GeV (520 GeV) are excluded at…

In this search, a dimensionless kinematic variable, alphaT, is used as the main discriminator between events with genuine and misreconstructed missing transverse energy. The search is performed in a signal region that is binned in the scalar sum of the transverse energy of jets and the number of jets identified …
We present the searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) in two channels, two photons plus missing transverse energy and a photon plus a lepton plus missing transverse energy with the CMS detector using approximately 36 $\rm{pb}^{-1}$ of pp collision at 7 TeV. No excess of events above the standard model predictions is found. Limits are set for the squark, gluino and wino masses in the general gauge-mediated SUSY context.
Searches for supersymmetric particles in channels with one or more photons and missing energy have been performed with data collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP. The data consist of 11.1 pb-1 at $\sqrt{s} = 161 GeV$, 1.1 pb-1 at 170 GeV and 9.5 pb-1 at 172 GeV. The e+e- -> nunu+photon cross section is measured. The data are in good agreement with predictions based on the Standard Model, and are used to set upper limits on the cross sections for anomalous photon production. These limits are compared to two different SUSY models and used to set limits on the neutralino mass. A limit of 71 GeV/…
The discovery/exclusion of Supersymmetric models for fundamental interactions of particles is one of the milestones targeted by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and in particular comprises of a large part of the physics program of the CMS experiment. Since the initial measurements using the 36\ipb of integrated luminosity delivered by the LHC in 2010, presently available results utilize about one fifth of the data delivered in 2011, i.e. in the ballpark of 1\ifb, significantly extending the world limits placed on gluino and squark production signals. An overview of these analyses is presented,…
The results of a search for new physics in final states with jets, either photons or leptons, and low missing transverse momentum are reported. The study is based on a sample of proton-proton collisions collected at center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 8 TeV with the CMS detector in 2012. The integrated luminosity of the sample is 19.7 inverse femtobarns. Many models of new physics predict the production of events with jets, electroweak gauge bosons, and little or no missing transverse momentum. Examples include stealth models of supersymmetry (SUSY), which predict a hidden sector at the electrowea…
Five mutually exclusive searches for supersymmetry are presented based on events in which b jets and four W bosons are produced in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 inverse femtobarns, were collected with the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2012. The five studies differ in the leptonic signature from the W boson decays, and correspond to all-hadronic, single-lepton, opposite-sign dilepton, same-sign dilepton, and greater-than-or-equal-to-3 lepton final states. The results of the five studies are combined to yield 95% conf…
We present several strategies for searching for supersymmetry in dijet channels that do not explicitly invoke missing energy. Preliminary investigations suggest that signal-to-background ratios of at least 4--5 should be achievable at the LHC, with discovery possible for squarks as heavy as ~ 1.7 TeV.
Searches were performed for topologies predicted by gauge-mediated Supersymmetry breaking models (GMSB). All possible lifetimes of the next-to-lightest SUSY particle (NLSP), either the lightest neutralino or slepton, decaying into the lightest SUSY particle, the gravitino, were considered. No evidence for GMSB signatures was found in the OPAL data sample collected at centre-of-mass energies of sqrt{s}=189-209 GeV at LEP. Limits on the product of the production cross-sections and branching fractions are presented for all search topologies. To test the impact of the searches, a complete scan ove…
A search motivated by supersymmetric models with light top squarks is presented using proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV during 2011, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.98 inverse femtobarns. The analysis is based on final states with a single lepton, b-quark jets, and missing transverse energy. Standard model yields are predicted from data using two different approaches. The observed event numbers are found to be compatible with these predictions. Results are interpreted in the context of the constrained minima…
Many models of new physics, including versions of supersymmetry (SUSY), predict production of events with low missing transverse energy, electroweak gauge bosons, and many energetic final-state particles. The stealth SUSY model yields this signature while conserving R-parity by means of a new hidden sector in which SUSY is approximately conserved. The results of a general search for new physics, with no requirement on missing transverse energy, in events with two photons and four or more hadronic jets are reported. The study is based on a sample of proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV c…

The study is performed using a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2011. The integrated luminosity of the sample is 4.98 inverse femtobarns. The observed number of events is found to be consistent with the standard model expectation, which is evaluated using control samples in the data. The results are used to constrain cross sections …
A search for supersymmetry with R-parity conservation in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35 inverse picobarns collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed in events with jets and significant missing transverse energy, characteristic of the decays of heavy, pair-produced squarks and gluinos. The primary background, from standard model multijet production, is reduced by several orders of magnitude to a negligible level by the application of a set of robust kinematic requirements. …
The high mass spectrum of lepton and photon pairs is sensitive to a broad array of new physics. Examples include searches for extra dimensions in the dielectron and diphoton channels. A direct search for electron compositeness is possible in the production of excited electrons decaying into an electron and a photon. In addition, the electron plus missing transverse energy data sample can be searched for a W' boson. Latest results in searches in the high mass dielectron, diphoton, electron plus photon, and electron plus missing transverse energy channels obtained by the D0 experiment at the Tev…
This review summarizes the state of the art in searches for supersymmetry at colliders on the eve of the LHC era. Supersymmetry is unique among extensions of the standard model in being motivated by naturalness, dark matter, and force unification, both with and without gravity. At the same time, weak-scale supersymmetry encompasses a wide range of experimental signals that are also found in many other frameworks. We recall the motivations for supersymmetry and review the various models and their distinctive features. We then comprehensively summarize searches for neutral and charged Higgs boso…
