The radion, a scalar particle associated with the radius of a compact warped extra dimension, may be the lightest new particle in this class of models. Its couplings to SM particles are proportional to the their masses, similar to the usual Higgs boson, but suppressed by a scale $Λ_r$, the radion vacuum expectation value. The main differences are the coupling to massless gauge bosons that receives contribution from the trace anomaly of the energy-momentum tensor due to the the nonvanishing $β$ functions and the mixing with the Higgs boson arising from a nonminimal coupling to gravity parametrized by a dimensionless coefficient $ξ$. In particular, these differences can result in significant modifications of the radion phenomenology. We use current LHC data on Higgs searches to find exclusion regions on the parameters of a radion model, $Λ_r$, $ξ$ and the radion mass $m_r$. We find that, even for low values of $Λ_r$, the radion can still have a mass in the region where the Standard Model Higgs has been excluded, for a narrow range of values for the mixing parameter. Some signals at the LHC for this scenario are discussed. We also find that it is possible to hide the Higgs boson in the current searches in this model, due to a suppression of its couplings.
We explore the parameter choices in the five-dimensional Randall-Sundrum model with the inclusion of Higgs-radion mixing that can describe current LHC hints for one or more Higgs boson signals.
We consider the Higgs-radion mixing in the context of warped space extra dimensional models with custodial symmetry and investigate the prospects of detecting the mixed radion. Custodial symmetries allow the Kaluza-Klein excitations to be lighter, and protect Zbb to be in agreement with experimental constraints. We perform a complementary study of discovery reaches of the Higgs-radion mixed state at the 13 and 14 TeV LHC and at the 500 and 1000 GeV ILC. We carry out a comprehensive analysis of the most significant production and decay modes of the mixed radion in the 80 GeV - 1 TeV mass range,…
In this work we point out that the apparent diphoton excess initially presented by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations could have originated from a radion in the bulk Higgs scenario within a warped extra dimension. In this scenario the couplings of the radion to massive gauge bosons are suppressed, allowing it to evade existing searches. In the presence of mixing with the Higgs, due to the strong constraints from diboson searches, only points near what we denominate the alignment region were able to explain the diphoton signal and evade other experimental constraints. In light of the new measurem…
The radion scalar field might be the lightest new particle predicted by extra-dimensional extensions of the Standard Model. It could thus lead to the first signatures of new physics at the LHC collider. We perform a complete study of the radion production in association with the Z gauge boson in the custodially protected warped model with a brane-localised Higgs boson addressing the gauge hierarchy problem. Radion-Higgs mixing effects are present. Such a radion production receives possibly resonant contributions from the Kaluza-Klein excitations of the Z boson as well as the extra neutral gaug…
The radion scalar field might be the lightest new particle predicted by extra-dimensional extensions of the Standard Model, thus possibly leading to the first signatures of new physics at the LHC. We perform a study of its production in association with a $Z$ boson in the custodially protected warped model with a brane-localised Higgs boson addressing the gauge hierarchy problem, with Higgs-radion mixing effects included. While the considered radion production at the LHC would constrain some parts of the parameter space, it is only the ILC program that will be able to cover a significant part …
With the data collected by LHC at 13 TeV, the CMS collaboration has searched for low mass resonances decaying into two photons. This has resulted in the observation of 3 sd excess around 95 GeV, reminiscent of an indication obtained at LEP2 by combining the Higgs boson searches of the four LEP experiments. These observations, marginally significant, motivate the present study which shows how HL-LHC and ILC250 could search for a radion, the lightest new particle predicted within the Randall Sundrum (RS) model. ILC operating at a centre of mass energy of 250 GeV and with an integrated luminosity…
In the Randall-Sundrum (RS) scenario the compactification radius of the extra dimension is stabilized by the radion, which is a scalar field lighter than the graviton Kaluza-Klein states. It implies that the detection of the radion will be the first signature of the stabilized RS model. In this paper we study the exclusive production of the radion in electromagnetic and diffractive hadron - hadron collisions at the LHC. Our results demonstrate that the diffractive production of radion is dominant and should be feasible of study at CERN LHC.
Light radions constitute one of the few surviving possibilities for observable new particle states at the sub-TeV level which arise in models with extra spacetime dimensions. It is already known that the 125 GeV state discovered at CERN is unlikely to be a pure radion state, since its decays resemble those of the Standard Model Higgs boson too closely. However, due to experimental errors in the measured decay widths, the possibility still remains that it could be a mixture of the radion with one (or more) Higgs states. We use the existing LHC data at 8 and 13 TeV to make a thorough investigati…
We consider the Higgs-dilaton(radion) system using the trace of energy-momentum tensor ($T_{~μ}^μ$) with the full Standard Model (SM) gauge symmetry $G_{\rm SM} \equiv SU(3)_c \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$, and find out that the resulting phenomenology for the Higgs-dilaton(radion) system is distinctly different from the earlier studies based on the $T_{~μ}^μ$ with the unbroken subgroup $H_{\rm SM} \equiv SU(3)_c \times U(1)_{\rm em}$ of $G_{\rm SM}$. After electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB), the SM Higgs boson and dilaton(radion) will mix with each other, and there appear two Higgs-like sca…
We study production and decay of a radion predicted in the Randall-Sundrum model at the LHC. The radion is a scalar particle and its production and decay channels are quite similar to those of the Higgs boson. We find constraints on the model parameter space taking account of the results of the Higgs boson search at the LHC. We also study a possibility discriminating the radion from the scalar particles in the other model such as the supersymmetric standard model at the LHC experiments.
We study the resonance production of radions and Higgs via gluon-gluon fusion in the Randall-Sundrum model with Higgs-curvature mixing at the LHC. We find that radion can be detected both in mixed (with Higgs boson) and unmixed case if the radion vacuum expectation value $Λ_ϕ$ is around 1 TeV. The $Λ_ϕ\sim 10$ TeV case is also promising for certain values of mixing parameters and radion masses. The mixing can affect the production and decay of Higgs boson in a significant way. Thus Higgs search strategies at the LHC may need refinements in case of radion-Higgs mixing in the Randall-Sundrum mod…
The recent observation of a modest excess in diphoton final states at the LHC, by both the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations, has sparked off the expected race among theorists to find the right explanation for this proto-resonance, assuming that the signal will survive and not prove to be yet another statistical fluctuation. We carry out a general analysis of this `signal' in the case of a scalar which couples only to pairs of gluons (for production) and photons (for diphoton decay modes), and establish that an explanation of the observed resonance, taken together with the null results of new physi…
The Neutral $Z$ boson pair production due to radion resonance at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is an interesting process to explore the notion of warped geometry (Randall-Sundrum model). Because of the enhanced coupling of radion with a pair of gluons due to trace enomaly and top(quark) loop, the radion can provide larger event rate possibility as compared to any New Physics effect. Using the proper radion-top-antitop (with the quarks being off-shell) coupling, we obtain the correct radion production rate at LHC and explore several features of a heavier radion decaying into a pair of real $Z…
We study constraints on the radion mass and couplings in the Randall-Sundrum model from the recent LHC data on the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson searches. When the radion is heavy enough so that it can decay into a pair of on-shell Z-bosons, we find that the ZZ channel gives a stringent constraint. For example, if the radion mass m_ϕis 200 GeV, the scale Λ_ϕwhich characterizes the interactions of the radion with the SM fields must be larger than 5 TeV. Even for m_ϕ=1 TeV, we find that the lower bound on Λ_ϕis 2 TeV.
We investigate the sensitivity of the heavy ion mode of the LHC to Higgs boson and Radion production via photon-photon fusion through the analysis of the processes photon to photon photon, photon photon to b anti-b, and photon photon to g g in peripheral heavy ion collisions. We suggest cuts to improve the Higgs and Radion signal over standard model background ratio and determine the capability of LHC to detect these particles production.
In this paper we use the conformal anomaly in QCD to derive the coupling of light radion to gluons in the Randall-Sundrum model and use it to compute the radion production cross section at hadron colliders by gluon fusion. We find that the radion production cross section by gluon fusion at LHC would exceed that of the higgs boson by a factor that lies between 7 and 8 over most of the range. The decay modes of the radion are similar to that of the SM higgs boson. But the striking feature is the enhancement of radion to 2-photon and radion to 2-gluon branching ratio over the SM case. Utilising t…
The radion is expected to be the first signal of the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model. We explore the possibility of finding it in the ongoing Higgs searches at the LHC. The little RS model (LRS), which has a fundamental scale at about 1000 TeV, is excluded over wide ranges of the radion mass from the latest $WW$ and gamma gamma data by ATLAS and CMS.
A warped extra dimension model proposed by Randall and Sundrum(RS) is one of the attractive candidates to solve the gauge hierarchy problem in the Standard Model. In a simplest version of the RS model, there are only two extra particles beyond the Standard Model - a spin-2 graviton (and its Kaluza-Klein excitations) and a radion which is a spin-0 and electrically neutral particle. In this paper, we discuss a possibility of discovering the radion at a photon collider, which has been considered as an option of $e^+ e^-$ liner collider (ILC), focusing on characteristic features of radion interact…
Even if the LHC observations are consistent with the Standard model (SM), current LHC results are not precise enough to rule out the presence of new physics. Taking a contrarian view of the SM Higgs fandom, we look out for a more suitable candidate for the 125 GeV boson observed at the LHC. At the same time, a recent result from CMS hints towards an excess near 95 GeV in the diphoton ($γγ$) channel. Given these aspects, we revisit the Higgs-radion mixing model to explore the viability of the radion mixed Higgs to be the 125 GeV boson along with the presence of a light radion (to be precise Hig…
Models with 3-branes in extra dimensions typically imply the existence of a radion, phi that can mix with the Higgs, h, thereby modifying the Higgs properties and the prospects for its detectability at the LHC. The presence of the phi will extend the scope of the LHC searches. Detection of both the phi and the h might be possible. In this paper, we study the complementarity of the observation of gg -> h, with h -> gamma gamma or h -> ZZ -> 4 leptons, and gg -> phi -> ZZ -> 4 leptons at the LHC in the context of the Randall-Sundrum model. The potential for determining the nature of the detected…
At hadron colliders the $γγ+jet$ channel provides larger signal-to-background ratio in comparison with inclusive $γγ$ channel in hunting for scalars uncharged under the SM gauge group. At NLO in QCD perturbation theory we evaluate selfconsistently the signal significance for the SM Higgs boson production in $γγ+jet$ channel at LHC. Three-body final state kinematics allows for refined cuts. The adjustment of these cuts increases the signal significance upto the level of inclusive channel. Applying a justified simple rescaling procedure to the results obtained for SM Higgs boson, we estimate the…
Given the disappearance of the 750 GeV di-photon LHC signal and the absence of signals at high mass in this and other channels, significant constraints on the mixed Higgs-radion of the five-dimensional Randall-Sundrum model arise. By combining all channels, these constraints place a significant radion-mass-dependent lower bound on the radion vacuum expectation value that is fairly independent of the amount of Higgs radion mixing.
We discuss the possibility of interpreting the 125 GeV scalar boson and the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by the ATLAS and CMS experiments as a Higgs-dominated and a radion-dominated states respectively in a stabilized brane-world model. It is shown that in the simplest variant of the model, where only the gravitational degrees of freedom propagate in the bulk, the production cross section of the radion-dominated state with mass 750 GeV turns out to be too small in the allowed region of the model parameter space for explaining the nature of the excess in this approach.
In this paper we study the higgs-radion system of the Randall-Sundum model where matter and gauge fields live in the bulk. We take into account the Kalza-Klein(KK) loop correction for the higgs and the raidion coupling to the gauge bosons. Inspired by the LHC data in 2011 where a sign of the higgs boson has been seen at 125 GeV, we fix the one of the mass eigenstate of the higgs-radion mixed state at 125 GeV, and scan over all the other parameters which have not been excluded by the 2011's data. We find the region of parameters where the scalar particle at 125 GeV have branching ratio larger o…
Precision data generally require the threshold for physics beyond the Standard Model to be at the deca-TeV (10 TeV) scale or higher. This raises the question of whether there are interesting deca-TeV models for which the LHC may find direct clues. A possible scenario for such physics is a 5D warped model of fermion masses and mixing, with Kaluza-Klein masses m_KK ~ 10 TeV, allowing it to avoid tension with stringent constraints, especially from flavor data. Discovery of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson, for which there are some hints at ~125 GeV at the LHC, would also require the KK masses to…
Motivated by the bulk mixing $ξR_5 H^{\dagger}H$ between a massive radion and a bulk scalar Higgs in warped extra dimensions, we construct an effective four dimensional action that---via the AdS/CFT correspondence---describes the most general mixing between the only light states in the theory, the dilaton and the Higgs. Due to conformal invariance, once the Higgs scalar is localized in the bulk of the extra-dimension the coupling between the dilaton and the Higgs kinetic term vanishes, implying a suppressed coupling between the dilaton and massive gauge bosons. We comment on the implications o…
We investigate Higgs-radion mixing scenario through single radion photoproduction process $pp\to pγp\to pRqX$ at the LHC where $X$ represents the remnants of one of the initial protons. We consider high luminosity values of $L_{int}=200\;fb^{-1}$, $500\;fb^{-1}$ and $3000\;fb^{-1}$. We obtain bounds on the mixing parameter space by considering $R\to γγ$, $R\to W^+ W^-$ and $R\to ZZ$ decay channels of the radion as the signal. We also perform a similar analysis for a 100 TeV future proton-proton collider and compare its potential with that of LHC.
We explore the constraints on the parameter space of a Randall-Sundrum warped geometry scenario, where a radion field arises out of the attempt to stabilise the radius of the extra compact spacelike dimension, using the most recent data from higgs searches at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Tevatron. We calculate contributions from both the scalar mass eigenstates arising from radion-higgs kinetic mixing in all important search channels. The most important channel to be affected is the decay via WW*, where no invariant mass peak can discern the two distinct physical states. Improving u…
A number of candidate theories beyond the standard model (SM) predict new scalar bosons below the TeV region. Among these, the radion, which is predicted in the Randall-Sundrum model, and the dilaton, which is predicted in spontaneous scale symmetry breaking, have very similar couplings to those of the SM Higgs boson, and it is very difficult to differentiate these three spin-0 particles in the expected signals of the Higgs boson at the LHC and Tevatron. We demonstrate that the observation of the ratio sigma(gamma gamma)/sigma(WW) gives a simple and decisive way, independently of the values of…
If the Planck scale is around a TeV in theories with large extra dimension, then gravitons should be produced in high energy hadronic collisions at the LHC. In this paper we compute the direct graviton production cross section in a pp and PbPb collision at LHC at \sqrt s^{NN}= 14 TeV and 5.5 TeV respectively. The graviton production cross section in a lead-lead collision is enhanced in comparison to a pp collision at LHC depending upon the minimum transverse energy of the jet E_{T,jet}^{min} above which the graviton production cross section is computed. For two extra dimensions and above E_{T,…
We study radion phenomenology in the context of flavor shining in warped extra dimension models. In this unique setup, originally proposed by Rattazzi and Zaffaroni, solutions to the gauge hierarchy problem and the new physics flavor problem are unified. A special role is played by the vacuum energy on the branes, that naturally allows for flavon stabilization and parametrically raises the radion mass. We note that the radion mass squared is suppressed only by the log of the weak-Planck hierarchy, and it is in the favored range of the standard model Higgs. We emphasize that the radion to di-ph…
We study Higgs-radion mixing in a warped extra dimensional model with Standard Model fields in the bulk, and we include a fourth generation of chiral fermions. The main problem with the fourth generation is that, in the absence of Higgs-radion mixing, it produces a large enhancement in the Higgs production cross-section, now severely constrained by LHC data. We analyze the production and decay rates of the two physical states emerging from the mixing and confront them with present LHC data. We show that the current signals observed can be compatible with the presence of one, or both, of these …
Current Higgs boson searches in various channels at the LHC point to an excess at around 124-126 GeV due to a possibly standard-model-like Higgs boson. If one examines more closely the channels (γγ, WW*, and ZZ*) that have excess, this "Higgs boson" may be the Randall-Sundrum radion ϕ. Because of the trace anomaly the radion has stronger couplings to the photon and gluon pairs. Thus, it will enhance the production rates into gg and γγwhile those for WW*, ZZ* and b\bar b are reduced relative to their standard-model values. We show that it can match well with the data from CMS for m_ϕ= 124 GeV a…
We study the custodial Randall-Sundrum model with two Higgs doublets localized in the $\TeV $ brane. The scalar potential is CP- conserving and has a softly broken $Z_2$ symmetry. In the presence of a curvature-scalar mixing term $ ξ_{ab} \mathcal{R} Φ_a^\dagger Φ_b$ the radion that stabilizes the extra dimension now mixes with the two CP-even neutral scalars $h$ and $H$. A goodness of fit of the LHC data on the properties of the light Higgs is performed on the parameter space of the type-I and type-II models. LHC direct searches for heavy scalars in different decay channels can help distingui…
We consider Higgs pair production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in a Randall-Sundrum scenario containing a radion field. It is shown that the enhanced effective coupling of the radion to gluons, together with contributions from a low-lying radion pole, can provide larger event rates compared to most new physics possibilities considered so far. We present the results for both an intermediate mass Higgs and a heavy Higgs, with a detailed discussion of the background elimination procedure.
Recently (arXiv:1608.00526), a new framework for warped higher-dimensional compactifications with "bulk" standard model (SM) was proposed: in addition to the UV (Planck scale) and IR (a couple of TeV) branes, there is an intermediate brane, taken to be around 10 TeV. The SM matter and Higgs fields propagate from the UV brane down to this intermediate brane only, while gauge and gravity fields propagate in the entire bulk. Such a configuration renders the lightest gauge Kaluza-Klein (KK) states within LHC reach, simultaneously satisfying flavor and CP constraints. In addition, the usual leading…
We study the single graviton production at the CERN LHC using the $k_T$-factorization approach of QCD. We consider the Arkani-Hamed-Dimopoulos-Dvali scenario and Randall-Sundrum model with one warped extra-dimension and derive the production amplitudes for spin-$2$ (Kaluza-Klein excitation of the graviton) and spin-$0$ (radion) states, including subsequent graviton decay into the dilepton or diphoton pairs. We use the transverse momentum dependent (unintegrated) parton densities in a proton obtained from Ciafaloni-Catani-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) evolution equation, which resums the leading lo…
In 2013, Geller, Bar-Shalom and Soni (GBS) proposed a Randall-Sundrum model with a bulk SU(2) doublet. They found that the doublet could both stabilize the extra dimension and break the electroweak symmetry; the radion and the Higgs boson were then one and the same. This alternative to the Goldberger-Wise mechanism contained enhanced Higgs couplings to gluons and photons, but at the time of the GBS paper, these couplings were phenomenologically acceptable. We note that updated results from the LHC rule out the model as presented. One can expand the parameter space by extending the model to inc…
In the Randall-Sundrum model, the radion-Higgs mixing is weakly suppressed by the effective electroweak scale. One of its novel features would be a sizable three-point vertex of KK graviton-Higgs-radion. We explored the potential of the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN LHC in probing the radion-Higgs mixing via the associated production of the radion with the Higgs boson. The observation of the rare decay of the KK gravitons into a Higgs and a radion is then the direct and exclusive signal of the radion-Higgs mixing. We also studied all the partial decay widths of the KK gravitons in the presenc…
In the context of warped scenarios in which Standard Model (SM) fields are allowed to propagate in the bulk, we revisit the possible mixing between the IR localized Higgs field and the Radion graviscalar. The phenomenology of the resulting mostly-Higgs field does not suffer important deviations with respect to the case in which all the SM is localized in the IR brane (original Higgs-Radion mixing scenario). On the contrary, the phenomenology of the mostly-Radion field can present important differences with respect to the original scenario. At the LHC, the most striking effect is now the possib…
A warped extra dimension model predicts an extra scalar particle beyond the Standard Model which is called a radion. Although interactions of the radion are similar to those of the Higgs boson in the Standard Model, a relatively light radion ($\lesssim 100 {\rm GeV}$) is not severely constrained from the Higgs search experiments at the LHC. In this paper we study discovery potential of the radion at a photon collider as an option of ILC. Owing to the trace anomaly of the energy-momentum tensor, both a production of radion in $γγ$ collision and its decay to gluon pair are enhanced sizably. We f…
In a class of Randall-Sundrum(RS) models, matter fermions and gauge bosons live in a five dimensional bulk, while the Higgs boson lives in a four dimensional visible brane. The Higgs boson can mix with a radion, by a Higgs-radion mixing term. It is difficult to directly discover the heavy Kaluza-Klein(KK) particles at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC), because the mass of the lightest KK particle is expected to be above 10 TeV to satisfy constraints from avor changing neutral currents(FCNC). Instead, the precision measurements of the Higgs sector at the high luminosity LHC(HL-LHC) and the Interna…
With the latest LHC available results, we consider the generic constraints on massive graviton. Both dijet and dilepton resonance searches are used. The limits on parameter space can be applied to many models. As an illustration, we show the constraints for Randall-Sundrum (RS) model. Implications on massive graviton and the coupling strength are discussed. For $k/M_{pl}=0.1$, $M_G<2.2$ TeV region is excluded at 95% confidence level. We also present some interesting implications on the RS radion with respect to the 125 GeV excess at the LHC. For $k/M_{pl}=0.1$, $Λ_ϕ<13.8$ TeV is excluded where…
In the context of a warped extra-dimension with Standard Model fields in the bulk, we obtain the general flavor structure of the Radion couplings to fermions and show that the result is independent on the particular nature of the Higgs mechanism (bulk or brane localized). These couplings will be generically misaligned with respect to the fermion mass matrix when the fermion bulk mass parameters are not all degenerate. When the Radion is light enough, the generic size of these tree-level flavor changing couplings will be strongly constrained by the experimental bounds on $ΔF=2$ processes. At th…
These proceedings present the LHCb results on Majorana neutrino searches and direct production of exotic particles using the data collected during Run I of LHC. For the former, Majorana neutrinos are searched for both on-shell and off-shell in $B$ and $D$ decays to final states with two same-sign muons. For the latter, different types of new particles are studied profiting the unique coverage of LHCb with respect to other detectors.
We study the Z boson pair production at LHC in the Randall-Sundrum scenario with the Goldberger-Wise stabilization mechanism. It is shown that comprehensive account of the Kaluza-Klein graviton and radion effects is crucial to probe the model: The KK graviton effects enhance the cross section of $g g \to Z Z$ on the whole so that the resonance peak of the radion becomes easy to detect, whereas the RS effects on the $q\bar{q} \to Z Z$ process are rather insignificant. The $p_T$ and invariant-mass distributions are presented to study the dependence of the RS model parameters. The production of l…

A review of the current experimental results on searches for Higgs bosons in models beyond the Standard Model is presented. Searches from ATLAS, CMS and LHCb use datasets from Run 1 of the LHC, including 7 and 8 TeV proton-proton collisions. Searches from CDF and D0 use the full or partial 1.96 TeV proton-anti-proton collision datasets from the Tevatron.
We consider a quartic interaction of the Higgs and Goldberger-Wise fields, which connects the mechanism of the extra dimension size stabilization with spontaneous symmetry breaking on our brane and gives rise to a coupling of the Higgs field to the radion and its KK tower. We estimate a possible influence of this coupling on the Higgs-radion mixing and study restrictions on model parameters from the LHC data.
This review discusses both experimental and theoretical aspects of searches for dark matter at the LHC. An overview of the various experimental search channels is given, followed by a summary of the different theoretical approaches for predicting dark matter signals. A special emphasis is placed on the interplay between LHC dark matter searches and other kinds of dark matter experiments, as well as among different types of LHC searches.
Motivated by the null results of LHC searches, which together with the Higgs mass, severely constrain minimal supersymmetric extensions of the standard model, we adopt a model-independent approach to study charged slepton flavor. We examine a number of simplified models, with different subsets of sleptons, electroweak gauginos, and Higgsinos, and derive the allowed slepton flavor dependence in the region probed by current LHC searches, and in the region relevant for the 14 TeV LHC. We then study the impact of the allowed flavor dependence on lepton plus missing energy searches. In some cases, …
We present a summary of the current status of searches for dark matter at the LHC from the ATLAS and CMS experiments. For various assumptions in the simplified parameter space, the LHC exclusions is complementary to direct detection results. Mono-object analyses in search of dark matter and various analyses searching for dark matter mediators are presented.
An overview of the recent searches for Higgs boson pair production at the LHC was presented. The searches were based on approximately 140 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the ATLAS and CMS experiments in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. With respect to the previous searches, analysis techniques were significantly improved, and new signatures and decays channels were explored.
In this paper we determine how the beta funtion of the higgs self coupling λat one loop order is modified by a light stabilized radion in the Randall-Sundrum model. We then use the modified beta function to derive a lower bound on the radion vev <ϕ>, both for perturbative and non-perturbative values of λat the ultra violet cut off Λ. The lower bound on <ϕ> is obtained by demanding that the renormalized coupling λ(μ) at μ=100 GeV be consistent with the present experimental bound of 110 GeV on the higgs mass from LEP2 searches. We also show that if λ(Λ) is sufficiently small then an upper bound …
In these proceedings we review the interplay between LHC searches for dark matter and direct detection experiments. For this purpose we consider two prime examples: the effective field theory (EFT) approach and the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In the EFT scenario we show that for operators which do not enter directly direct detection at tree-level, but only via loop effects, LHC searches give complementary constraints. In the MSSM stop and Higgs exchange contribute to the direct detection amplitude. Therefore, LHC searches for supersymmetric particles and heavy Higgses place c…
Recent results in the search for supersymmetry in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and sqrt(s) = 8 TeV by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC are reviewed. After discussing features of inclusive analyses and the presentation of results, emphasis will be put on searches for the third generation squarks, on searches for gauginos, and on possible ways supersymmetry could escape the present analyses.
We study the sensitivity of displaced vertex searches for heavy neutrinos produced in W boson decays in the LHC detectors ATLAS, CMS and LHCb. We also propose a new search that uses the muon chambers to detect muons from heavy neutrino decays outside the tracker. The sensitivity estimates are based on benchmark models in which the heavy neutrinos mix exclusively with one of the three Standard Model generations. In the most sensitive mass regime the displaced vertex searches can improve existing constraints on the mixing with the first two Standard Model generations by more than four orders of …
In this paper we assume the Higgs is an elementary scalar, and study how new physics could affect its couplings to electroweak gauge bosons. Adding LHC data to LEP data provides new, more stringent limits, particularly when the Higgs to two photon decay signal strength is taken into account. We then study the effect of anomalous angular correlations in the decay to WW*. We obtain a new limit on the rare decay to photon-Z, and use it to constrain Supersymmetry, to find that staus with large mixing would be most sensitive to this channel. We also use these limits to constrain radion exchange in …
Using two suitable benchmark scenarios that satisfy the experimental constraints on the total decay width of the $125 \, {\rm GeV}$ Higgs boson, we determine the bounds on light CP-odd spin-0 states in the 2HDM+$a$ model that arise from existing LHC searches. Our work represents the first thorough study that considers the parameter space with $m_a \lesssim 100 \, {\rm GeV}$ and should prove useful for 2HDM+$a$ interpretations of future ATLAS, CMS and LHCb searches for pseudoscalars with masses below the electroweak scale.
