Strict comparison and Z-absorption of nuclear C*-algebras

For any unital separable simple infinite-dimensional nuclear C*-algebra with finitely many extremal traces, we prove that Z-absorption, strict comparison, and property (SI) are equivalent. We also show that any unital separable simple nuclear C*-algebra with tracial rank zero is approximately divisible, and hence is Z-absorbing.

Picard groups of certain stably projectionless C*-algebras

We compute Picard groups of several nuclear and non-nuclear simple stably projectionless C*-algebras. In particular, the Picard group of Razak-Jacelon algebra W_2 is isomorphic to a semidirect product of Out(W_2) with R_+^\times. Moreover, for any separable simple nuclear stably projectionless C*-algebra with a finite dimensional lattice of densely defined lower semicontinuous traces, we show that Z-stability and strict comparison are equivalent. Central sequence C*-algebras and tensorial absorption of the Jiang-Su algebra

We study properties of the central sequence algebra of a C*-algebra, and we present an alternative approach to a recent result of Matui and Sato. They prove that every unital separable simple nuclear C*-algebra, whose trace simplex is finite dimensional, tensorially absorbs the Jiang-Su algebra if and only if it has the strict comparison property. We extend their result to the case where the extreme boundary of the trace simplex is closed and of finite topological dimension. Trace spaces of simple nuclear C*-algebras with finite-dimensional extreme boundary

Let A be a unital separable simple infinite-dimensional nuclear C*-algebra with at least one tracial state. We prove that if the trace space of A has compact finite-dimensional extreme boundary then there exist unital embeddings of matrix algebras into a certain central sequence algebra of A which is determined by the uniform topology on the trace space. As an application, it is shown that if furthermore A has strict comparison then A absorbs the Jiang-Su algebra tensorially.

Centrally Large Subalgebras and Tracial ${\mathcal{Z}}$-Absorption

Let $A$ be a simple infinite dimensional stably finite unital C*-algebra, and let $B$ be a centrally large subalgebra of $A$. We prove that if $A$ is tracially ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing if and only if $B$ is tracially ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing. If $A$ and $B$ are also separable and nuclear, we prove that $A$ is ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing if and only if $B$ is ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing.

Strict comparison for $C^*$-algebras arising from Almost finite groupoids

In this paper we show that for an almost finite minimal ample groupoid $G$, its reduced $\mathrm{C}^*$-algebra $C_r^*(G)$ has real rank zero and strict comparison even though $C_r^*(G)$ may not be nuclear in general. Moreover, if we further assume $G$ being also second countable and non-elementary, then its Cuntz semigroup ${\rm Cu}(C_r^*(G))$ is almost divisible and ${\rm Cu}(C_r^*(G))$ and ${\rm Cu}(C_r^*(G)\otimes \mathcal{Z})$ are canonically order-isomorphic, where $\mathcal{Z}$ denotes the Jiang-Su algebra.

The Jiang-Su absorption for inclusions of unital C*-algebras

In this paper we will introduce the tracial Rokhlin property for an inclusion of separable simple unital C*-algebras $P \subset A$ with finite index in the sense of Watatani, and prove theorems of the following type. Characterizing classifiable AH algebras

We observe almost divisibility for the original Cuntz semigroup of a simple AH algebra with strict comparison. As a consequence, the properties of strict comparison, finite nuclear dimension, and Z-stability are equivalent for such algebras, confirming partially a conjecture of Winter and the author.
