The purpose of this paper is to study microlocal conditions for inclusion relations between the ranges of square systems of pseudodifferential operators which fail to be locally solvable. The work is an extension of earlier results for the scalar case in this direction, where analogues of results by L. Hörmander about inclusion relations between the ranges of first order differential operators with coefficients in $C^\infty$ which fail to be locally solvable were obtained. We shall study the properties of the range of systems of principal type with constant characteristics for which condition (Ψ) is known to be equivalent to microlocal solvability.
In this paper we continue the study of non-diagonalisable hyperbolic systems with variable multiplicity started by the authors in \cite{Garetto2018}. In the case of space dependent coefficients, we prove a representation formula for solutions that allows us to derive results of regularity and propagation of singularities.
The purpose of this paper is to obtain microlocal analogues of results by L. H örmander about inclusion relations between the ranges of first order differential operators with coefficients in $C^\infty$ which fail to be locally solvable. Using similar techniques, we shall study the properties of the range of classical pseudo-differential operators of principal type which fail to satisfy condition $(Ψ)$.
We develop a semiclassical second microlocal calculus of pseudodifferential operators associated to linear coisotropic submanifolds $\mathcal{C}\subset T^* \mathbb{T}^n$, where $\mathbb{T}^n = \mathbb{R}^n / \mathbb{Z}^n$. First microlocalization is localization in phase space $T^* \mathbb{T}^n$; second microlocalization is finer localization near a submanifold of $T^* \mathbb{T}^n$. Our second microlocal operators test distributions on $\mathbb{T}^n$ (e.g., Laplace eigenfunctions) for a coisotropic wavefront set, a second microlocal measure of absence of \emph{coisotropic regularity}. This wa…
For the light ray transform on globally hyperbolic Lorentzian manifolds of dimension $n+1 \geq 3$ acting on compactly supported distributions, we show that the Schwartz kernel of the normal operator is a paired Lagrangian distribution with non-vanishing principal symbols on each Lagrangians. We obtain Sobolev estimates for the light ray transform, and clarify the determination of light-like singularities using the normal operator.
We study the microlocal kernel of h-pseudodifferential operators P(x,hD)-z, where z belongs to some neighborhood of size O(h) of a critical value of its principal symbol. We suppose that this critical value corresponds to a hyperbolic fixed point of the associated Hamiltonian flow. First we describe propagation of singularities at such a hyperbolic fixed point, both in the analytic and in the smooth category. In both cases, we show that the null solution is the only element of this microlocal kernel which vanishes on the stable incoming manifold, but for energies z in some discrete set. For en…
We consider scattering theory for a pair of operators $H_0$ and $H=H_0+V$ on $L^2(M,m)$, where $M$ is a Riemannian manifold, $H_0$ is a multiplication operator on $M$ and $V$ is a pseudodifferential operator of order $-μ$, $μ>1$. We show that a time-dependent scattering theory can be constructed, and the scattering matrix is a pseudodifferential operator on each energy surface. Moreover, the principal symbol of the scattering matrix is given by a Born approximation type function. The main motivation of the study comes from applications to discrete Schrödigner operators, but it also applies to …
We give a detailed microlocal study of X-ray transforms over geodesics-like families of curves with conjugate points of fold type. We show that the normal operator is the sum of a pseudodifferential operator and a Fourier integral operator. We compute the principal symbol of both operators and the canonical relation associated to the Fourier integral operator. In two dimensions, for the geodesic transform, we show that there is always a cancellation of singularities to some order, and we give an example where that order is infinite; therefore the normal operator is not microlocally invertible …
We develop a second-microlocal calculus of pseudodifferential operators in the semiclassical setting. These operators test for Lagrangian regularity of semiclassical families of distributions on a manifold $X$ with respect to a Lagrangian submanifold of $T^*X.$ The construction of the calculus, closely analogous to one performed by Bony in the setting of homogeneous Lagrangians, proceeds via the consideration of a model case, that of the zero section of $T^*\mathbb{R}^n,$ and conjugation by appropriate Fourier integral operators. We prove a propagation theorem for the associated wavefront set …
In a previous paper by the second author, we discussed a characterization of the microlocal singularities for solutions to Schrödinger equations with long range type perturbations, using solutions to a Hamilton-Jacobi equation. In this paper we show that we may use Dollard type approximate solutions to the Hamilton-Jacobi equation if the perturbation satisfies somewhat stronger conditions. As applications, we describe the propagation of microlocal singularities for $e^{itH_0}e^{-itH}$ when the potential is asymptotically homogeneous as $|x|\to\infty$, where $H$ is our Schrödinger operator, and…
Let $H$ be a Schrödinger type operator with long-range perturbation. We study the wave front set of the distribution kernel of $(H-λ\mp i0)^{-1}$, where $λ$ is in the absolutely continous spectrumof $H$.The result is a refinement of the microlocal resolvent estimate of Isozaki-Kitada \cite{IK1,IK2}. We prove the result for a class of pseudodifferential operators on manifolds so that they apply to discrete Schrödinger operators and higher order operators on the Euclidean space. The proof relies on propagation estimates, whereas the original proof of Isozaki-Kitada relies on a construction of pa…
We consider Keldysh-type operators, $ P = x_1 D_{x_1}^2 + a (x) D_{x_1} + Q (x, D_{x'} ) $, $ x = ( x_1, x') $ with analytic coefficients, and with $ Q ( x, D_{x'} ) $ second order, principally real and elliptic in $ D_{x'} $ for $ x $ near zero. We show that if $ P u =f $, $ u \in C^\infty $, and $ f $ is analytic in a neighbourhood of $ 0 $ then $ u $ is analytic in a neighbourhood of $ 0 $. This is a consequence of a microlocal result valid for operators of any order with Lagrangian radial sets. Our result proves a generalized version of a conjecture made by the second author and Lebeau and…
The purpose of this paper is to establish sufficient conditions for closed range estimates on $(0,q)$-forms, for some fixed $q$, $1 \leq q \leq n-1$, for $\bar\partial_b$ in both $L^2$ and $L^2$-Sobolev spaces in embedded, not necessarily pseudoconvex CR manifolds of hypersurface type. The condition, named weak $Y(q)$, is both more general than previously established sufficient conditions and easier to check. Applications of our estimates include estimates for the Szegö projection as well as an argument that the harmonic forms have the same regularity as the complex Green operator. We use a mi…
We study the microlocal properties of the scattering matrix associated to the semiclassical Schrödinger operator $P=h^2Δ_X+V$ on a Riemannian manifold with an infinite cylindrical end. The scattering matrix at $E=1$ is a linear operator $S=S_h$ defined on a Hilbert subspace of $L^2(Y)$ that parameterizes the continuous spectrum of $P$ at energy $1$. Here $Y$ is the cross section of the end of $X$, which is not necessarily connected. We show that, under certain assumptions, microlocally $S$ is a Fourier integral operator associated to the graph of the scattering map $κ:\mathcal{D}_κ\to T^*Y$, w…

The principal eigenvalue for linear elliptic operator has been known to be one of very useful tools to investigate many important partial differential equations. Due to the pioneering works of Berestycki et al. \cite{BCV1,BCV2}, the study of qualitative properties for the principal eigenvalue of nonlocal operators has attracted a lot of attention of the community from theory to application (For examples \cite{LL22-1,LLS22,LZ1,LZ2,SLLY,DDF,XLR}). In this paper, motivated from the study of mathematical modeling the dynamics of infectious diseases in \cite{NV1, ZZLD, WD}, we analyze the asymptoti…
We introduce a class of embedded CR manifolds satisfying a geometric condition that we call weak $Y(q)$. For such manifolds, we show that dbar-b has closed range on $L^2$ and that the complex Green operator is continuous on $L^2$. Our methods involves building a weighted norm from a microlocal decomposition. We also prove that at any Sobolev level there is a weight such that the complex Green operator inverting the weighted Kohn Laplacian is continuous. Thus, we can solve the dbar-b equation in $C^\infty$.
We study the microlocal structure of the resolvent of the semi-classical Schrodinger operator with short range potential at an energy which is a unique non-degenerate global maximum of the potential. We prove that it is a semi-classical Fourier integral operator quantizing the incoming and outgoing Lagrangian submanifolds associated to the fixed hyperbolic point. We then discuss two applications of this result to describing the structure of the spectral function and the scattering matrix of the Schrodinger operator at the critical energy.
We present a detailed study, in the semi-classical regime $h \to 0$, of microlocal properties of systems of two commuting h-PDO s $P_1(h)$, $P_2(h)$ such that the joint principal symbol $p=(p_1,p_2)$ has a special kind of singularity called a "focus-focus" singularity. Typical examples include the quantum spherical pendulum or the quantum Champagne bottle. In the spirit of Colin de Verdière and Parisse, we show that such systems have a universal behavior described by singular quantization conditions of Bohr-Sommerfeld type. These conditions are used to give a precise description of the joint s…
In this communication, we prove some important limits of the principal eigenvalue for nonlocal operator of Neumann type with respect to the parameters, which are significant in the understanding of dynamics of biological populations. We obtained a complete picture about limits of the principal eigenvalue in term of the large and small dispersal rate and dispersal range classified by "Ecological Stable Strategy" of persistence. This solves some open problems remainning in the series of work [3, 28, 29], in which we have to overcome the new difficulties comparing to [3, 28, 29] since principal e…
A principal wishes to transact business with a multidimensional distribution of agents whose preferences are known only in the aggregate. Assuming a twist (= generalized Spence-Mirrlees single-crossing) hypothesis and that agents can choose only pure strategies, we identify a structural condition on the preference b(x,y) of agent type x for product type y -- and on the principal's costs c(y) -- which is necessary and sufficient for reducing the profit maximization problem faced by the principal to a convex program. This is a key step toward making the principal's problem theoretically and comp…
The paper treats pseudodifferential operators $P=Op(p(ξ))$ with homogeneous complex symbol $p(ξ)$ of order $2a>0$, generalizing the fractional Laplacian $(-Δ)^a$ but lacking its symmetries, and taken to act on the halfspace $R^n_+$. The operators are seen to satisfy a principal $μ$-transmission condition relative to $R^n_+$, but generally not the full $μ$-transmission condition satisfied by $(-Δ)^a$ and related operators (with $μ=a$). However, $P$ acts well on the so-called $μ$-transmission spaces over $R^n_+$ (defined in earlier works), and when $P$ moreover is strongly elliptic, these spaces…
