The $bτj \etslash$ signal at the ongoing LHC experiments is simulated with Pythia in the mSUGRA and other models of SUSY breaking. Special attention is given on the compatibility of this signature with the low mass neutralino dark matter (LMNDM) scenario consistent with WMAP data. In the mSUGRA model the above signal as well as the LMNDM scenario are strongly disfavoured due to the constraints from the on going SUSY searches at the LHC. This tension, however, originates from the model dependent correlations among the parameters in the strong and electroweak sectors of mSUGRA. That there is no serious conflict between the LMNDM scenario and the LHC data is demonstrated by constructing generic phenomenological models such that the strong sector is unconstrained or mildly constrained by the existing LHC data and parameters in the electroweak sector, unrelated to the strong sector, yield DM relic density consistent with the WMAP data. The proposed models, fairly insensitive to the conventional SUSY searches in the jets + $\etslash$ and other channels, yield observable signal in the suggested channel for $\lum \gsim 1 \ifb$ of data. They are also consistent with the LMNDM scenario and can be tested by the direct dark matter search experiments in the near future. Some of these models can be realized by non-universal scalar and gaugino masses at the GUT scale.
The appearance of a natural dark matter candidate, the neutralino, is among the principal successes of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and its descendents. In lieu of a suitable ultraviolet completion, however, theories of gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking such as mSUGRA suffer from arbitrary degrees of flavor violation. Though theories of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking are free from such prohibitive flavor violation, they typically lack natural neutralino dark matter candidates. Yet this conventional dichotomy breaks down when the hidden sector is strongly coupled; in models of gau…
Neutralinos arise as natural dark matter candidates in many supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model. We present a novel calculation of the neutralino relic abundance in which we include all so called coannihilation processes between neutralinos, charginos and sfermions, and, at the same time, we apply the state of the art technique to trace the freeze-out of a species in the early Universe. As a first application, we discuss here results valid in the mSUGRA framework; we enlight general trends as well as perform a detailed study of the neutralino relic densities in the mSUGRA parameter…
The minimal supergravity (mSUGRA or CMSSM) model is an oft-used framework for exhibiting the properties of neutralino (WIMP) cold dark matter (CDM). However, the recent evidence from Atlas and CMS on a light Higgs scalar with mass m_h\simeq 125 GeV highly constrains the superparticle mass spectrum, which in turn constrains the neutralino annihilation mechanisms in the early universe. We find that stau and stop co-annihilation mechanisms -- already highly stressed by the latest Atlas/CMS results on SUSY searches -- are nearly eliminated if indeed the light Higgs scalar has mass m_h\simeq 125 Ge…
We compare the relic density of neutralino dark matter within the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA) using four different public codes for supersymmetric spectra evaluation. While the predictions for the relic density of neutralinos are rather stable in most of the mSUGRA space, it is in the most physically interesting regions that large discrepancies can be observed, in particular the focus point, large tan beta and coannihilation regions.
The requirement that the lightest neutralino $\tildeχ_1^0$ has the right thermal relic density to explain all Dark Matter in the universe strongly constrains the parameter space of supersymmetric models in general, and of the mSUGRA model in particular. Recently improved calculations of the mass of the light CP-even Higgs boson $h$ present in this model, and the increased central value of the mass of the top quark, have re--opened the possibility that $2 \mlsp \lsim m_h$. In this ``$h-$pole region'' the LSP annihilation cross section is enhanced by near-resonant $h$ exchange in the $s-$channel…
Within the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA) framework, the expectation for the relic density of neutralinos exceeds the WMAP determination unless neutralinos a) have a significant higgsino component, b) have a mass close to half that of a heavy Higgs boson, or c)can efficiently co-annihilate with a charged or colored particle. Within a 1-parameter extension of the mSUGRA model which includes non-universal Higgs masses, we show that agreement with the WMAP data can be obtained over a wide range of mSUGRA parameters for scenarios a) and b), so that the phenomenological implications may be muc…
Gravity-mediated SUSY breaking models with R-parity conservation give rise to dark matter in the universe. I review neutralino dark matter in the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA), models with non-universal soft SUSY breaking terms (NUSUGRA) which yield a well-tempered neutralino, and models with unified Yukawa couplings at the GUT scale (as may occur in an SO(10) SUSY GUT theory). These latter models have difficulty accommodating neutralino dark matter, but work very well if the dark matter particles are axions and axinos.
Over almost all of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA or CMSSM) model parameter space, there is a large overabundance of neutralino cold dark matter (CDM). We find that the allowed regions of mSUGRA parameter space which match the measured abundance of CDM in the universe are highly fine-tuned. If instead we invoke the Peccei-Quinn-Weinberg-Wilczek solution to the strong CP problem, then the SUSY CDM may consist of an axion/axino admixture with an axino mass of order the MeV scale, and where mixed axion/axino or mainly axion CDM seems preferred. In this case, fine-tuning of the relic density is typi…
We extend the commonly used mSUGRA framework to allow complex soft terms. We show how these phases can induce large changes of the SUSY threshold corrections to the b quark mass and affect the neutralino relic density predictions of the model. We present some specific models with large SUSY phases which can accommodate the fermion electric dipole moment constraints and a neutralino relic density within the WMAP bounds.
We consider B3 mSUGRA models where we have one lepton number violating LQD operator at the GUT scale. This can alter the supersymmetric mass spectrum leading to a sneutrino as the lightest supersymmetric particle in a large region of parameter space. We take into account the restrictions from neutrino masses, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, b -> s gamma and other precision measurements. We furthermore investigate existing restrictions from direct searches at LEP, the Tevatron and the CERN p\bar p collider. We then give examples for characteristic signatures at the LHC.
In this short note, we describe the preparation of updated templates for the interpretation of SUSY results from the LHC in the context of mSUGRA. The standard (m_0,m_{1/2}) plane is shown for fixed mu > 0 and m_t = 173.2 GeV. Two scenarios are considered: (1) A_0 = 0 GeV and tan(beta)=10 and (2) A_0 = -500 GeV and tan(beta)=40. In each case, the universal scalar mass parameter m_0 varies in the range [40,3000] GeV, while the universal gaugino mass parameter m_{1/2} varies in the range [100,1000] GeV. We delineate notable regions in parameter space, including the region with a charged LSP (sta…
A study is made of what SUSY signals would be observable for mSUGRA models in a 500-GeV linear collider. All current experimental bounds on the mSUGRA parameter space are imposed. For m_0 < 1 TeV (or alternately if the current g_μ- 2 anomaly maintains) the only observable signals that remain are slepton pair production and neutralino production of {\tildeχ^0_2}+{\tildeχ^0_1}. Slepton pair production can occur for masses < 250 GeV which for the selectron and smuon pairs require tanbeta < 40. In this domain very accurate selectron and smuon masses could be measured. Light staus, \tildeτ_1, with …
I summarize some recent work on supersymmetric neutralinos as candidates for cold Dark Matter in the Universe. This includes a new scan of mSUGRA parameter space, with special emphasis on neutralinos annihilating predominantly through exchange of the light CP--even Higgs boson, and on bounds on sparticle masses. Next, prospects of testing models with TeV higgsino--like Dark Matter at colliders are discussed. Finally, I briefly comment on extensions of the mSUGRA model, and on scenarios with non--standard cosmology.
We study all tree-level neutralino annihilation processes concerning energy-dependence at the mSUGRA benchmark point SPS1a using tree-level calculators MadGraph and CompHEP as well as FormCalc. We further investigate the total tree-level neutralino annihilation cross section by scanning over the mSUGRA parameters and identifying the dominant channels in every region. The results for the cross sections are presented in the m1/2-m0 planes for different values of tan(beta) and A0. We identify as well the resonances due to the exchange of the heavy Higgs bosons A and H in the s-channel of many neu…
The recent discovery of a 125 GeV Higgs-like resonance at LHC, coupled with the lack of evidence for weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY), have severely constrained SUSY models such as mSUGRA/CMSSM. As LHC probes deeper into SUSY model parameter space, the little hierarchy problem -- how to reconcile the Z and Higgs boson mass scale with the scale of SUSY breaking -- will become increasingly exacerbated unless a sparticle signal is found. We evaluate two different measures of fine-tuning in the mSUGRA/CMSSM model. The more stringent of these, Δ_{HS}, includes effects that arise from the high scale …
We investigate the detectability of neutralino Dark Matter via direct and indirect searches as well as collider signatures of an $SO(10)$ model with two intermediate scales. We compare the direct Dark Matter detection cross section and the muon flux due to neutralino annihilation in the Sun that we obtain in this model with mSUGRA predictions and with the sensitivity of current and future experiments. In both cases, we find that the detectability improves as the model deviates more from mSUGRA. In order to study collider signatures, we choose two benchmark points that represent the main phenom…
We investigate the implications of the recent measurement of muon anomalous magnetic moment for the direct detection of neutralino dark matter in the three different SUSY models: mSUGRA, a model with non-universal Higgs mass, and an SO(10) GUT model. We consider two extreme scenario for $Δa_μ$ bound, i.e. $27 \times 10^{-10} < Δa_μ< 59 \times 10^{-10}$ (1$σ$ bound) and $0 < Δa_μ< 11 \times 10^{-10}$ ($2σ$ below). In mSUGRA model, the counting ratio may be above the sensitivity of the future experiments when parameters are within $1σ$ bound of $Δa_μ$. However, the $Ω_χ$ tends to be high compare…
The measurements of WMAP on the relic density of dark matter strongly constrain supersymmetric models. In mSUGRA where the neutralino LSP is mostly a bino only rather fine-tuned models survive. On the other hand the relic density upper limit can be easily satisfied in models with a Higgsino or wino LSP.
Recent comparisons of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model predictions with WMAP measurements of the neutralino relic density point to preferred regions of model parameter space. We investigate the reach of linear colliders (LC) with $\sqrt{s}=0.5$ and 1 TeV for SUSY in the framework of the mSUGRA model. We find that LCs can cover the entire stau co-annihilation region provided $\tanβ\alt 30$. In the hyperbolic branch/focus point (HB/FP) region of parameter space, specialized cuts are suggested to increase the reach in this important ``dark matter allowed'' area. In the case of the HB/FP region…
We present brief synopses of supersymmetric models where either the neutralino composition or its mass is adjusted so that thermal relic neutralinos from the Big Bang saturate the measured abundance of cold dark matter in the universe. We first review minimal supergravity (mSUGRA), and then examine its various one-parameter extensions where we relax the assumed universality of the soft supersymmetry breaking parameters. Our goal is to correlate relic-density-allowed parameter choices with expected phenomena in direct, indirect and collider dark matter search experiments. For every non-universa…
An analysis is carried out within mSUGRA of the estimated number of events originating from upward moving ultra-high energy neutralinos that could be detected by the Extreme Universe Space Observatory (EUSO). The analysis exploits a recently proposed technique that differentiates ultra-high energy neutralinos from ultra-high energy neutrinos using their different absorption lengths in the Earth's crust. It is shown that for a significant part of the parameter space, where the neutralino is mostly a Bino and with squark mass $\sim 1$ TeV, EUSO could see ultra-high energy neutralino events with …
We examine the stau-neutralino coannihilation (CA) mechanism of the early universe. We use the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model and show that from measurements at the Large Hadron Collider one can predict the dark matter relic density with an uncertainty of 6% with 30 fb-1 of data, which is comparable to the direct measurement by Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe. This is done by measuring four mSUGRA parameters m0, m1/2, A0 and tan(beta) without requiring direct measurements of the top squark and bottom squark masses. We also provide precision measurements of the gaugino, squark, and li…
We investigate in detail the low-energy spectrum of the R-parity violating mSUGRA model using the computer program \texttt{SOFTSUSY}. We impose the experimental constraints from the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$, the decay $b\ra sγ$ as well as the mass bounds from direct searches at colliders, in particular on the Higgs boson and the lightest chargino. We also include a new calculation for the R parity violating contribution to $\Br(B_s\ra μ^+μ^-)$. We then focus on cases where the lightest neutralino is {\em not} the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP)…
The mSUGRA model predicts the polarization of the tau coming from the stau to bino decay in the co-annihilation region to be +1. This can be exploited to extract this soft tau signal at LHC and also to measure the tiny mass differences between the stau and the bino LSP. Moreover this strategy will be applicable for a wider class of bino LSP models, where the lighter stau has a right component at least of similar size as the left.
We examine the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model under the assumption that the strong CP problem is solved by the Peccei-Quinn mechanism. In this case, the relic dark matter (DM) abundance consists of three components: {\it i}). cold axions, {\it ii}). warm axinos from neutralino decay, and {\it iii}). cold or warm thermally produced axinos. To sustain a high enough re-heat temperature (T_R\agt 10^6 GeV) for many baryogenesis mechanisms to function, we find that the bulk of DM should consist of cold axions, while the admixture of cold and warm axinos should be rather slight, with a very ligh…
We consider minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) models with an additional R-parity violating operator at the grand unification scale. This can change the supersymmetric spectrum leading on the one hand to a sneutrino, smuon or squark as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). On the other hand, a wide parameter region is reopened, where the scalar tau is the LSP. It is vital to know the nature of the LSP, because supersymmetric particles normally cascade decay down to the LSP at collider experiments. We investigate in detail the conditions leading to non-neutralino LSP scenarios. We also present…
Charged Lepton Flavor Violation (cLFV) processes like $ μ\rightarrow e γ$ are rare decay processes, that are another signature of physics beyond Standard Model (BSM). These processes have been studied in various models, that could explain neutrino oscillations and mixings. In this work, we present bounds on cLFV decay $ μ\rightarrow e γ$ in a $ μ$-$ τ$ symmetric SUSY SO(10) theory, using type I seesaw mechanism. The updated constraints on BR($ μ\rightarrow e γ$) from MEG experiment, recently measured value of Higgs mass at LHC and value of $θ_{13}$ from reactor data have been used. We present …
We propose the signal $1b+1l+N_j+\etslash$ along with appropriate selection criteria for the LHC 7 TeV run, where the number of jets $(N_j)$ is $\ge$ 2 or 4. These signals can complement the canonical $Jets + \etslash$ signature since they are sensitive to the trilinear soft breaking parameter $(A_0)$ and low values of the parameter tan$β$ in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model. A large region of this mSUGRA parameter space within the reach of the ongoing experiments at the LHC is disfavoured by the bound on the lightest Higgs boson mass ($m_h \ge 114.4 $ GeV) unless $A_0$ has moderate to …
Both ATLAS and CMS have published results of SUSY searches putting limits on SUSY parameters and masses. A non-discovery of SUSY in the next two years would push these limits further. On the other hand, precision data of low energy measurements and the dark matter relic density favor a light scale of supersymmetry. Therefore we investigate if supersymmetry -- more specifically the highly constraint model mSUGRA -- does at all agree with precision data and LHC exclusions at the same time, and whether the first two years of LHC will be capable of excluding models of supersymmetry. We consider th…
We perform a complete analysis of the supersymmetric particle spectrum in the Minimal Supergravity (mSUGRA) model. We show that present constraints on the Higgs boson and superparticle masses from collider searches and precision measurements still allow for large regions of the mSUGRA parameter space where some sparticles as well as the heavier Higgs particles, are light enough to be produced at the next generation of $e^+e^-$ linear colliders. An important part of this parameter space remains even when we require that the density of the lightest neutralinos left over from the Big Bang falls i…
We study a supersymmetric scenario where the lighter tau-sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, while the lighter stau-state is the next lightest. Such a scenario can be motivated within the framework of minimal supergravity, with just the addition of a right-chiral neutrino superfield. Such a spectrum leads to rather unusual signals of supersymmetry, showing stable tracks of the stau in the muon chambers. We study the event characteristics of the long-lived staus at the LHC and demonstrate that the stau tracks can be distinguished from the muonic ones through proper kinematic cuts…
Under the hypothesis that the MSSM neutralino accounts for the observed dark matter density, we investigate how light this particle is still allowed to be after the latest LHC data. In particular, we discuss the impact of searches for events with multiple taus and missing transverse momentum, which are a generic prediction of the light neutralino scenario.
We address the question how light the lightest MSSM neutralino can be as dark matter candidate in a scenario where all supersymmetric scalar particles are heavy. The hypothesis that the neutralino accounts for the observed dark matter density sets strong requirements on the supersymmetric spectrum, thus providing an handle for collider tests. In particular for a lightest neutralino below 100 GeV the relic density constraint translates into an upper bound on the Higgsino mass parameter $μ$ in case all supersymmetric scalar particles are heavy. One can define a simplified model that highlights o…
We consider a supersymmetric Grand Unified Theory (GUT) based on the gauge group SO(10) suggested by Aulakh et al., which features two--step intermediate symmetry breaking, $SO(10) \to SU(4)_C \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \to SU(3)_C \times U(1)_{B-L} \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \to SU(3)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$. {\bf $45, 54, 126+\overline{126}$} dimensional representations of Higgs superfields are employed to achieve this symmetry breaking chain. We also introduce a second, very heavy, pair of Higgs doublets, which modifies the Yukawa couplings of matter fields relative to minimal…
We study the different linear collider modes with regard to the determination of the gaugino mass parameter M_1. In a specific mSUGRA inspired scenario we compare four processes with polarized beams: (a) e+ e- --> neutralino_1 neutralino_2 --> neutralino_1 neutralino_1 e+ e-, (b) e- gamma --> neutralino_1 selectron_{L/R} --> neutralino_1 neutralino_1 e-, (c) gamma gamma --> chargino_1^+ chargino_1^- --> neutralino_1 neutralino_1 e+ e- neutrino_e anti-neutrino_e, (d) e- e- --> selectron_{L/R} selectron_{L/R} --> neutralino_1 neutralino_1 e- e-.
We present a complete calculation of the QCD and SUSY-QCD corrections to neutralino pair annihilation into bottom quark-antiquark pairs through exchange of a pseudoscalar Higgs boson, which is the dominant process in the cosmological A-funnel region of the mSUGRA model. We present numerical predictions for the annihilation cross section and discuss the influence of the correction terms on the cold dark matter relic density with respect to recent cosmological data.
Gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) is a theoretically well-motivated framework with rich and varied collider phenomenology. In this paper, we study the Tevatron limits and LHC discovery potential for a wide class of GMSB scenarios in which the next-to-lightest superpartner (NLSP) is a promptly-decaying neutralino. These scenarios give rise to signatures involving hard photons, $W$'s, $Z$'s, jets and/or higgses, plus missing energy. In order to characterize these signatures, we define a small number of minimal spectra, in the context of General Gauge Mediation, which are parameterized…
Neutralino proton cross sections are examined for models with R-parity invariance with universal soft breaking (mSUGRA) models, nonuniversal SUGRA models, and D-brane models. The region of parameter space where current dark matter detectors are sensitive, i.e. $1\times 10^{-6}$ pb, is examined. For mSUGRA models, detectors are sampling parts of the parametr space for tan$β>\sim 25$. The nonuniversal models can achieve cross sections that are a factor of 10-100 bigger or smaller then the universal one and in the former case sample regions tan$β>\sim 4$. The D-brane models considered require tan…
In the supersymmetric models, the coannihilation of the neutralino DM with a lighter supersymmetric particle provides a feasible way to accommodate the observed cosmological DM relic density. Such a mechanism predicts a compressed spectrum of the neutralino DM and its coannihilating partner, which results in the soft final states and makes the searches for sparticles challenging at colliders. On the other hand, the abundance of the freeze-out neutralino DM usually increases as the DM mass becomes heavier. This implies an upper bound on the mass of the neutralino DM. Given these observations, w…
If all strongly interacting sparticles (the squarks and the gluinos) in an unconstrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) are heavier than the corresponding mass lower limits in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model, obtained by the current LHC experiments, then the existing data allow a variety of electroweak (EW) sectors with light sparticles yielding dark matter (DM) relic density allowed by the WMAP data. Some of the sparticles may lie just above the existing lower bounds from LEP and lead to many novel DM producing mechanisms not common in mSUGRA. This is illustrated by revi…
Recently there has been much interest in the use of single-jet mass and jet substructure to identify boosted particles decaying hadronically at the LHC. We develop these ideas to address the challenging case of a neutralino decaying to three quarks in models with baryonic violation of R-parity. These decays have previously been found to be swamped by QCD backgrounds. We demonstrate for the first time that such a decay might be observed directly at the LHC with high significance, by exploiting characteristics of the scales at which its composite jet breaks up into subjets.
We investigate the current status of the light neutralino dark matter scenario within the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) taking into account latest results from the LHC. A discussion of the relevant constraints, in particular from the dark matter relic abundance, leads us to a manageable simplified model defined by a subset of MSSM parameters. Within this simplified model we reinterpret a recent search for electroweak supersymmetric particle production based on a signature including multi-taus plus missing transverse momentum performed by the ATLAS collaboration. In this way we d…
It is pointed out that there is a strong correlation between the neutralino dark matter scattering cross section $σ_{\tildeχ p}$ and the branching ratio for $B_s \to μ^+ μ^-$ within minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and its extensions. This correlation arises mainly from $\tanβ$ and heavy neutral Higgs mass dependence, and shows a nice interplay between vastly different two observables within supersymmetric models. Current upper limit on $B(B_s \to μ^+ μ^-) < 5.8 \times 10^{-7}$ excludes substantial parameter space where $σ_{\tildeχ p}$ is within the CDMS sensitivity region.
A feasibility study is presented to precisely measure the masses of charged sleptons and the lightest neutralino in $e^+e^-\to\smur\smur$ and $e^+e^-\to\stau_1\stau_1$ production. Different mSUGRA scenarios with small slepton-neutralino mass differences of a few GeV are invesigated. The analysis is based on a detailed simulation of the final state lepton energy spectra including background reactions and assuming realistic experimental conditions at the TESLA $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider. Effects on the mass resolutions due to beams colliding head-on or under a crossing angle are discussed.
The search for the production of weakly-interacting SUSY particles at the LHC is crucial for testing supersymmetry in relation to dark matter. Decays of neutralinos into Higgs bosons occur over some significant part of the SUSY parameter space and represent the most important source of $h$ boson production in SUSY decay chains in the MSSM. We study h production in neutralino decays using scans of the phenomenological MSSM. Whilst in constrained MSSM scenarios the decay chi^0_2 -> h chi^0_1 is the dominant channel, this does not hold in more general MSSM scenarios. On the other hand, the chi^0_…
{We present an updated assessment of the reach of the CERN LHC pp collider for supersymmetric matter in the context of the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model. In addition to previously examined channels, we also include signals with an isolated photon or with a leptonically decaying Z boson. For an integrated luminosity of 100 fb^{-1}, values of m_{1/2}\sim 1400 GeV can be probed for small m_0, corresponding to a gluino mass of m_{\tg}\sim 3 TeV. For large m_0, in the hyperbolic branch/focus point region, m_{1/2}\sim 700 GeV can be probed, corresponding to m_{\tg}\sim 1800 GeV. We also map ou…
Axion/axino dark matter (DM) is explored in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and Yukawa-unified supersymmetric grand-unified theory (SUSY GUT) models with surprising results. For this type of scenario, relic DM abundance has three components: {\it i}.) cold axions, {\it ii.}) warm axinos from neutralino decay, and {\it iii.}) cold or warm thermally produced axinos. Reheat temperatures $T_R$ exceeding $10^6$ GeV are required in order to solve the gravitino/Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) problem while also allowing for baryogensis via non-thermal leptogenesis. In order to attain high enough reh…
It was shown in a previous study that a lightest neutralino with mass below 30 GeV was severely constrained in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), unless it annihilates via a light stau and thus yields the observed dark matter abundance. In such a scenario, while the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP), the charginos and the other neutralinos as well as sleptons of the first two families are also likely to be not too far above the mass bounds laid down by the Large Electron Positron (LEP) collider. As the branching ratios of decays of the charginos and the…
We analyze the effects of the s-channel Higgs bosons exchange on the charginos and neutralinos-pair production in proton-proton collision at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the following channels: $pp \to \Cha^+\Cha^-/\Neu^0\Neu^0 + X$, within the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Assuming the usual GUT relation between $M_1$ and $M_2$ at the weak scale, we found that substantial enhancement can be obtained through s-channel Higgs bosons exchange in the mixed regime where $M_2 \sim |μ|$ with moderate to large $\tanβ$ at the resonance of the heavy Higgs bosons. By Combining …
We have analyzed the prospect of detecting a higgs signal in mSUGRA/CMSSM based Supersymmetric(SUSY) model via chargino-neutralino($\CH_1\N0_2$) production at 8 TeV and 14 TeV LHC energy. The signal is studied in the channel with $\ell + b \bar b + \PMET$ following the decays, $\CH_1 \to W^\pm \N0_1$, $\N0_2 \to \N0_1 h$ and $h \to b \bar b$. In this analysis reconstruction of the higgs mass out of two b-jets plays a very crucial role in determining the signal to background ratio. We follow two techniques to reconstruct higgs mass: (A) using two identified b-jets, (B) using jet substructure te…
The CMS and ATLAS Collaborations have recently published the results of initial direct LHC searches for supersymmetry analyzing ~ 35/pb of data taken at 7 TeV in the centre of mass. We incorporate these results into a frequentist analysis of the probable ranges of parameters of simple versions of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), namely the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), a model with common non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1), the very constrained MSSM (VCMSSM) and minimal supergravity (mSUGRA). We present updated predictions for the gluino mass, m_gl, the light Higg…
The ATLAS experiment has recently presented its search results for final states containing jets and/or b-jet(s) and missing transverse momentum, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 165 pb^{-1}. We employ this data to constrain a class of supersymmetric SU(4)_c X SU(2)_L X SU(2)_R models with t-b-τYukawa unification, in which the gluino is the next to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). The NLSP gluino is slightly (~10-30%) heavier than the the LSP dark matter neutralino, and it primarily decays into the latter and a quark-antiquark pair or gluon. We find that NLSP gluino masses b…
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations have reported an excess of events in the γγ, ZZ^*\to 4\ell and WW^* search channels at an invariant mass m \simeq 125 GeV, which could be the first evidence for the long-awaited Higgs boson. We investigate the consequences of requiring m_h\simeq 125 GeV in both the mSUGRA and NUHM2 SUSY models. In mSUGRA, large values of trilinear soft breaking parameter |A_0| are required, and universal scalar m_0\agt 0.8 TeV is favored so that we expect squark and slepton masses typically in the multi-TeV range. This typically gives rise to an "effective SUSY" type of spartic…
We study the possibility of a light Dark Matter (DM) within a constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) framework augmented by a SM singlet-pair sector to account for the non-zero neutrino masses by inverse seesaw mechanism. Working within a 'hybrid' scenario with the MSSM sector fixed at high scale and the singlet neutrino sector at low scale, we find that, contrary to the case of the usual cMSSM where the neutralino DM cannot be very light, we can have a light sneutrino DM with mass below 100 GeV satisfying all the current experimental constraints from cosmology, collider as …
We investigate B3 mSUGRA models, where the lightest scalar tau, stau_1, is the LSP. B3 models allow for lepton number and R-parity violation; the LSP can thus decay. We assume one non-zero B3 coupling lambda'_ijk at M_GUT, which generates further B3 couplings at M_Z. We study the RGEs and give numerical examples. The new couplings lead to additional stau_1 decays, providing distinct collider signatures. We classify the stau_1 decays and describe their dependence on the mSUGRA parameters. We exploit our results for single slepton production at the LHC. As an explicit numerical example, we inves…
We make use of recently released parton density functions (PDFs) with threshold-resummation improvement to consistently calculate theoretical predictions for neutralino and chargino pair production at next-to-leading order and next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The updated cross sections have been computed for experimentally relevant higgsino and gaugino search channels at the ongoing Run II of the LHC. A factorisation method is applied to exploit the smaller PDF uncertainty of the global PDF sets and to avoid complications arising in the refitting of threshold-resummation improved PDF repl…
The $R$-parity violating decays of both Wino chargino and Wino neutralino LSPs are analyzed within the context of the $B-L$ MSSM "heterotic standard model". These LSPs correspond to statistically determined initial soft supersymmetry breaking parameters which, when evolved using the renormalization group equations, lead to an effective theory satisfying all phenomenological requirements; including the observed electroweak vector boson and Higgs masses. The explicit decay channels of these LSPs into standard model particles, the analytic and numerical decay rates and the associated branching ra…
We propose a simplified light higgsino-singlino scenario in the NMSSM, in which the masses of the chargino and the lightest neutralino determine the masses and couplings of all 3 lightest neutralinos. This scenario is complementary to the simplified wino-like chargino/neutralino scenario used conventionally for the interpretation of results from trilepton searches, and motivated by lower bounds on the gluino mass in the case of GUT relations between the wino and gluino masses. We present all masses and mixing angles necessary for the determination of production cross sections of the chargino a…
We study SUSY signatures at the 7, 8 and 14 TeV LHC employing the 19-parameter, R-Parity conserving p(henomenological)MSSM, in the scenario with a neutralino LSP. Our results were obtained via a fast Monte Carlo simulation of the ATLAS SUSY analysis suite. The flexibility of this framework allows us to study a wide variety of SUSY phenomena simultaneously and to probe for weak spots in existing SUSY search analyses. We determine the ranges of the sparticle masses that are either disfavored or allowed after the searches with the 7 and 8 TeV data sets are combined. We find that natural SUSY mode…
