We prove a central limit theorem applicable to one dimensional stochastic approximation algorithms that converge to a point where the error terms of the algorithm do not vanish. We show how this applies to a certain class of these algorithms that in particular covers a generalized Pólya urn model, which is also discussed. In addition, we show how to scale these algorithms in some cases where we cannot determine the limiting distribution but expect it to be non-normal.
For a mixed stochastic differential equation containing both Wiener process and a Hölder continuous process with exponent $γ>1/2$, we prove a stochastic viability theorem. As a consequence, we get a result about positivity of solution and a pathwise comparison theorem. An application to option price estimation is given.
In this paper we study the well-known Khasminskii-Type Theorem, i.e. the existence and uniqueness of solutions of stochastic evolution delay equations, under local Lipschitz condition, but without linear growth condition. We then establish one stochastic LaSalle-type theorem for asymptotic stability analysis of strong solutions. Moreover, several examples are established to illustrate the power of our theories.
In this paper, stability theorems for stochastic differential equations and backward stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion are obtained. We show the existence and uniqueness of solutions to forward-backward stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion. Stability theorem for forward-backward stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion is also presented.
By the methods of probability and duality technique, we give some comparison theorems for the solutions of infinite horizon forward-backwad stochastic differential equations.
We generalize the Kolmogorov continuity theorem and prove the continuity of a class of stochastic fields with the parameter. As an application, we derive the continuity of solutions for nonlocal stochastic parabolic equations driven by non-Gaussian Lévy noises.
In the paper, we are concerned with degenerate stochastic differential equations with jumps. Firstly, we establish two support theorems for the solutions of the degenerate stochastic equations, under different (sufficient) conditions. Secondly, we apply one of our support theorems to a class of degenerate stochastic evolution equations (i.e., infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations) with jumps to get a characterisation of path-independence for the densities of their Girsanov transformations.
We present two main theorems for stochastic processes with a Markov regime-switching model. First, we work on an existence-uniqueness theorem for a Stochastic Differential Delay Equation with Jumps and Regimes (SDDEJRs). Then, we provide the duality between an SDDEJR and an Anticipated Backward Stochastic Differential Equation with Jumps and Regimes (ABSDEJRs). Our goal is to provide two technical and basis theorems for the future theoretical and applied developments of time-delayed and time-advanced models.
This work concerns stochastic Volterra equations with singular kernels. Under the suitable conditions, we prove the central limit theorem for them. Moreover, we apply our result to stochastic Volterra equations with the kernels of fractional Brownian motions with the Hurst parameter $H\in(0, 1)$.
Under quasi-monotone assumptions for coefficients, we show one kind of comparison theorem for multi-dimensional\textbf{\}backward doubly stochastic differential equations on infinite horizon. An example is given as well.
We establish central limit theorems for general functionals on binomial point processes and their Poissonized version. As an application, a central limit theorem for Betti numbers of random geometric complexes in the thermodynamic regime is derived.
For backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs) in multi-dimensional Euclidean spaces, comparison theorems are established in a systematic way for the adapted solutions and adapted M-solutions. For completeness, comparison theorems for (forward) stochastic differential equations, backward stochastic differential equations, and (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (FSVIEs) are also presented. Duality principles are used in some relevant proofs. Also, it is found that certain kind of monotonicity conditions play crucial roles to guarantee the comparison theorems for FSVI…
In this paper, we establish a central limit theorem (CLT) and the moderate deviation principles (MDP) for a class of semilinear stochastic partial differential equations driven by multiplicative noise on a bounded domain. The main results can be applied to stochastic partial differential equations of various types such as the stochastic Burgers equation and the reaction-diffusion equations perturbed by space-time white noise.
In this paper we prove a general approximation result for reflected stochastic differential equations in bounded domains satisfying conditions reorganized by Ren and Wu. Then we show that it includes Wong-Zakai approximation, mollifier approximation, etc.
In this paper, we investigate suffcient and necessary conditions for the comparison theorem of neutral stochastic functional differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion (G-NSFDE). Moreover, the results extend the ones in the linear expectation case [1] and nonlinear expectation framework [8].
A class of backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs in short) with continuous coefficients is studied. We give the comparison theorems, the existence of the maximal solution and the structure of solutions for BDSDEs with continuous coefficients. A Kneser-type theorem for BDSDEs is obtained. We show that there is either unique or uncountable solutions for this kind of BDSDEs.
Comparison and converse comparison theorems are important parts of the research on backward stochastic differential equations. In this paper, we obtain comparison results for one dimensional backward stochastic differential equations with Markov chain noise, extending and generalizing previous work under natural and simplified hypotheses, and establish a converse comparison theorem for the same type of equation after giving the definition and properties of a type of nonlinear expectation: $f$-expectation.
In this paper, we study conditions under which the solutions of a backward stochastic differential equation with jump remains in a given set of constrains. This property is the so-called "viability property". As an application, we study the comparison theorem for multidimensional BSDEs with jumps.
We prove an almost sure central limit theorem on the Poisson space, which is perfectly tailored for stabilizing functionals emerging in stochastic geometry. As a consequence, we provide almost sure central limit theorems for $(i)$ the total edge length of the $k$-nearest neighbors random graph, $(ii)$ the clique count in random geometric graphs, $(iii)$ the volume of the set approximation via the Poisson-Voronoi tessellation.
In this paper, we prove a central limit theorem and a moderate deviation principle for a perturbed stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equation defined on [0, T]x [0, π]^d, with d \in {1,2,3}. This equation is driven by a space-time white noise. The weak convergence approach plays an important role.
In this paper we establish a comparison theorem for stochastic differential delay equations with jumps. An example is constructed to demonstrate that the comparison theorem need not hold whenever the diffusion term contains a delay function although the jump-diffusion coefficient could contain a delay function. Moreover, another example is established to show that the comparison theorem is not necessary to be true provided that the jump-diffusion term is non-increasing with respect to the delay variable.
The purpose of this note is to prove a central limit theorem for the $L^2$-modulus of continuity of the Brownian local time obtained in \cite{CLMR}, using techniques of stochastic analysis. The main ingredients of the proof are an asymptotic version of Knight's theorem and the Clark-Ocone formula for the $L^2$-modulus of the Brownian local time.
We consider the one-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a multiplicative space-time white noise. We show that the spatial integral of the solution from $-R$ to $R$ converges in total variance distance to a standard normal distribution as $R$ tends to infinity, after renormalization. We also show a functional version of this central limit theorem.
We prove a dual Yamada-Watanabe theorem for one-dimensional stochastic differential equations driven by quasi-left continuous semimartingales with independent increments. In particular, our result covers stochastic differential equations driven by (time-inhomogeneous) Levy processes. More precisely, we prove that weak uniqueness, i.e. uniqueness in law, implies weak joint uniqueness, i.e. joint uniqueness in law for the solution process and its driver.
This paper focuses on a class of two-time-scale functional stochastic differential equations, where the phase space of the segment processes is infinite-dimensional. It develops ergodicity of the fast component and obtains a strong limit theorem for the averaging principle in the spirit of Khasminskii's averaging approach for the slow component.
In this paper we show that solutions of stochastic partial differential equations driven by Brownian motion can be approximated by stochastic partial differential equations forced by pure jump noise/random kicks. Applications to stochastic Burgers equations are discussed.
In this paper we show that solutions of two-dimensional stochastic Navier-Stokes equations driven by Brownian motion can be approximated by stochastic Navier-Stokes equations forced by pure jump noise/random kicks.
In this paper, we prove a particle approximation, in the sense of the propagation of chaos, of a Lagrangian stochastic model submitted to specular boundary condition and satisfying the mean no-permeability condition.
We prove the quenched version of the central limit theorem for the displacement of a random walk in doubly stochastic random environment, under the $H_{-1}$-condition, with slightly stronger, $L^{2+\varepsilon}$ (rather than $L^2$) integrability condition on the stream tensor. On the way we extend Nash's moment bound to the non-reversible, divergence-free drift case.
In this paper we study the strong convergence for the Euler-Maruyama approximation of a class of stochastic differential equations whose both drift and diffusion coefficients are possibly discontinuous.
This paper studies multi-level stochastic approximation algorithms. Our aim is to extend the scope of the multilevel Monte Carlo method recently introduced by Giles (Giles 2008) to the framework of stochastic optimization by means of stochastic approximation algorithm. We first introduce and study a two-level method, also referred as statistical Romberg stochastic approximation algorithm. Then, its extension to multi-level is proposed. We prove a central limit theorem for both methods and describe the possible optimal choices of step size sequence. Numerical results confirm the theoretical ana…
We present limit theorems for a sequence of Piecewise Deterministic Markov Processes (PDMPs) taking values in a separable Hilbert space. This class of processes provides a rigorous framework for stochastic spatial models in which discrete random events are globally coupled with continuous space-dependent variables solving partial differential equations, e.g., stochastic hybrid models of excitable membranes. We derive a law of large numbers which establishes a connection to deterministic macroscopic models and a martingale central limit theorem which connects the stochastic fluctuations to diff…
We give a new characterization for the convergence in distribution to a standard normal law of a sequence of multiple stochastic integrals of a fixed order with variance one, in terms of the Malliavin derivatives of the sequence. We extend our result to the multidimensional case and prove a weak convergence result for a sequence of square integrable random variables.
In this article we establish strong convergence rates on the whole probability space for explicit full-discrete approximations of stochastic Burgers equations with multiplicative trace-class noise. The key step in our proof is to establish uniform exponential moment estimates for the numerical approximations.
We establish a central limit theorem and prove a moderate deviation principle for stochastic scalar conservation laws. Due to the lack of viscous term, this is done in the framework of kinetic solution. The weak convergence method and doubling variables method play a key role.
The work concerns invariant measures for multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. First of all, we prove the exponential ergodicity of these equations. Then for a sequence of these equations, when their coefficients converge in the suitable sense, the convergence of corresponding strong solutions are presented. Finally, based on the convergence of these solutions, we establish the convergence of corresponding invariant measures.
We formulate and prove a {\it Local Stable Manifold Theorem\/} for stochastic differential equations (sde's) that are driven by spatial Kunita-type semimartingales with stationary ergodic increments. Both Stratonovich and Itô-type equations are treated. Starting with the existence of a stochastic flow for a sde, we introduce the notion of a hyperbolic stationary trajectory. We prove the existence of invariant random stable and unstable manifolds in the neighborhood of the hyperbolic stationary solution. For Stratonovich sde's, the stable and unstable manifolds are dynamically characterized usi…
We consider the generalized parabolic Anderson equation (gPAM) in 2 dimensions with periodic boundary. This is an example of a singular semilinear stochastic partial differential equations, solutions of which require renormalization and have only be understood recently via Hairer's regularity structures and, in some cases equivalently, paracontrollled distributions due to Gubinelli, Imkeller and Perkowski. In the present paper we describe the law of gPAM, by establishing a Stroock{Varadhan type support theorem in suitable Holder{Besov spaces.
Under proper scaling and distributional assumptions, we prove the convergence in the Skorokhod space endowed with the M_1-topology of a sequence of stochastic integrals of a deterministic function driven by a time-changed symmetric α-stable Lévy process. The time change is given by the inverse β-stable subordinator.
This paper aims at developing a systematic study for the weak rate of convergence of the Euler-Maruyama scheme for stochastic differential equations with very irregular drift and constant diffusion coefficients. We apply our method to obtain the rates of approximation for the expectation of various non-smooth functionals of both stochastic differential equations and killed diffusion. We also apply our method to the study of the weak approximation of reflected stochastic differential equations whose drift is Hölder continuous.
We consider a system of stochastic differential equations driven by a standard n-dimensional Brownian motion where the drift coefficient satisfies a Novikov-type condition while the diffusion coefficient is the identity matrix. We define a vector Z of square integrable stochastic processes with the following property: if the filtration of the translated Brownian motion obtained from the Girsanov transform coincides with the one of the driving noise then Z coincides with the unique strong solution of the equation; otherwise the process Z solves in the strong sense a related stochastic different…
An existence and uniqueness theorem for a class of stochastic delay differential equations is presented, and the convergence of Euler approximations for these equations is proved under general conditions. Moreover, the rate of almost sure convergence is obtained under local Lipschitz and also under monotonicity conditions.
In this paper we study a type of stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations with non-Lipschitz coefficients. Firstly, by an Euler-Maruyama approximation existence of its weak solutions is proved. And then we observe pathwise uniqueness of its weak solutions. Finally, it is shown that the Euler-Maruyama approximation has an optimal strong convergence rate.
Anticipated backward stochastic differential equations, studied the first time in 2007, are equations of the following type: {tabular}{rlll} $-dY_t$ &=& $f(t, Y_t, Z_t, Y_{t+δ(t)}, Z_{t+ζ(t)})dt-Z_tdB_t, $ & $ t\in[0, T];$ $Y_t$ &=& $ξ_t, $ & $t\in[T, T+K];$ $Z_t$ &=& $η_t, $ & $t\in[T, T+K].$ In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition under which the comparison theorem holds for multidimensional anticipated backward stochastic differential equations with generators independent of the anticipated term of $Z$.
We examine a Wong-Zakai type approximation of a family of stochastic differential equations driven by a general cadlag semimartingale. For such an approximation, compared with the pointwise convergence result by Kurtz, Pardoux and Protter [12, Theorem 6.5], we establish stronger convergence results under the Skorokhod M_1-topology, which, among other possible applications, implies the convergence of the first passage time of the solution to the stochastic differential equation.
We consider analytically weak solutions to semilinear stochastic partial differential equations with non-anticipating coefficients driven by cylindrical Brownian motion. The solutions are allowed to take values in general separable Banach spaces. We show that weak uniqueness is equivalent to weak joint uniqueness, and thereby generalize a theorem by A.S. Cherny to an infinite dimensional setting. Our proof for the technical key step is different from Cherny's and uses cylindrical martingale problems. As an application, we deduce a dual version of the Yamada-Watanabe theorem, i.e. we show that …
