It is well-known that leptogenesis in low energy scale is difficult in the conventional Type-I seesaw mechanism with hierarchical right-handed neutrino masses. We show that in a class of two Higgs doublet model, where one Higgs doublet generates masses of quarks and charged leptons whereas the other Higgs doublet with a tiny vacuum expectation value generates neutrino Dirac masses, large Yukawa couplings lead to a large enough CP asymmetry of the right-handed neutrino decay. Thermal leptogenesis suitably works at low energy scale as keeping no enhancement of lepton number violating wash out effects. We will also point out that thermal leptogenesis works well without confronting gravitino problem in a supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs doublet model with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking. Neutralino dark matter and baryon asymmetry generation by thermal leptogenesis are easily compatible in our setup.
A neutrinophilic Higgs model has tiny vacuum expectation value (VEV), which can naturally explain tiny masses of neutrinos. There is a large energy scale hierarchy between a VEV of the neutrinophilic Higgs doublet and that of usual standard model-like Higgs doublet. In this paper we at first analyze vacuum structures of Higgs potential in both supersymmetry (SUSY) and non-SUSY neutrinophilic Higgs models, and next investigate a stability of this VEV hierarchy against radiative corrections. We will show that the VEV hierarchy is stable against radiative corrections in both Dirac neutrino and Ma…
We investigate thermal leptogenesis in a supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs model by taking phenomenological constraints into account, where, in addition to the minimal supersymmetric standard model, we introduce an extra Higgs field with a tiny vacuum expectation value (VEV) which generates neutrino masses. Thanks to this tiny VEV of the neutrinophilic Higgs, our model allows to reduce the mass of the lightest right-handed (s)neutrino to be ${\cal O}(10^5)$ GeV as keeping sufficiently large CP asymmetry in its decay. Therefore, the reheating temperature after inflation is not necessarily hig…
We extend the scalar sector of the neutrinophilic two Higgs doublet model, where small masses of Dirac neutrinos are obtained via a small vacuum expectation value v_nu of the neutrinophilic SU(2)_L-doublet scalar field which has a Yukawa interaction with only right-handed neutrinos. A global U(1)_X symmetry is used for the neutrinophilic nature of the second SU(2)_L-doublet scalar field and also for eliminating Majorana mass terms of neutrinos. By virtue of an appropriate assignment of the U(1)_X-charges to new particles, our model has an unbroken Z_2 symmetry, under which the lightest Z_2-odd…
We propose a neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet model, where the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the second Higgs doublet is only induced at one-loop level via several neutral fermions. Thus, the masses of active neutrinos arising from the Higgs doublets are naturally small via such a tiny VEV. We discuss various phenomenology of the model, including the neutrino masses and oscillations, bounds on non-unitarity, lepton-flavor violations, the oblique parameters, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, the GeV-scale sterile neutrino candidate arising from the tiny VEV, and collider signatures. We fi…
We propose Dirac type active neutrino with rank two mass matrix and a Majorana fermion dark matter candidate with an alternative local $U(1)_{B-L}$ extension of neutrinophilic two Higgs doublet model. Our dark matter candidate can be stabilized due to charge assignment under the gauge symmetry without imposing extra discrete $Z_2$ symmetry and the relic density is obtained from $Z'$ boson exchanging process. Taking into account collider constraints on $Z'$ boson mass and coupling, we estimate the relic density.
We consider a neutrinophilic Higgs scenario where the Standard Model is extended by one additional Higgs doublet and three generations of singlet right-handed Majorana neutrinos. Light neutrino masses are generated through mixing with the heavy neutrinos via Type-I seesaw mechanism when the neutrinophilic Higgs gets a vacuum expectation value (VEV). The Dirac neutrino Yukawa coupling in this scenario can be sizable compared to those in the canonical Type-I seesaw mechanism owing to the small neutrinophilic Higgs VEV giving rise to interesting phenomenological consequences. We have explored var…
We propose a neutrinophilic two Higgs doublet model with hidden local $U(1)$ symmetry, where active neutrinos are Dirac type, and a fermionic DM candidate is naturally induced as a result of remnant symmetry even after the spontaneous symmetry breaking. In addition, a physical Goldstone boson is arisen as a consequence of two types of gauge singlet bosons and contributes to the DM phenomenologies as well as additional neutral gauge boson. Then we will analyze the relic density of DM within the safe range of direct detection searches, and show the allowed region of dark matter mass.
We derive stringent limits on neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet models from low-energy observables after the discovery of the Higgs boson and of the mixing angle $θ_{13}$. These decays can constrain the plane spanned by $m_{H^\pm}$, the mass of the new charged Higgs, and $v_2$, the vacuum expectation value of the new neutrinophilic scalar doublet. Lepton flavor conserving decays are not able to set meaningful bounds, since they depend strongly on the unknown neutrino absolute mass scale. On the other hand, loop induced lepton flavor violating decays, such as $μ\to e γ$, $μ\to 3 e $ or $μ\to e$ …
In a class of two Higgs doublet model, where one Higgs doublet generates masses of quarks and charged leptons whereas the other Higgs doublet with a tiny vacuum expectation value (VEV) generates neutrino Dirac masses, smallness of neutrino masses might be understand as the consequence of the small second Higgs VEV. In this framework, thermal leptogenesis scenarios work well at low energy scale and have several advantages as follows. Under the assumption of hierarchical right-handed neutrino masses, the lightest right-handed neutrino can be as light as ${\cal O}(10^2)$ TeV.The required degenera…
We consider a simple extension of the Standard Model providing dark matter and a TeV-scale seesaw mechanism that also allows for viable leptogenesis. In addition to the Standard Model degrees of freedom, the model contains a neutrinophilic Higgs doublet, a scalar singlet, and six singlet fermions (including three right-handed Majorana neutrinos) that are charged under a local $U(1)^\prime$ gauge symmetry. We show how the $U(1)^\prime$ charge assignments and the choice of scalar potential can lead to a TeV-scale seesaw mechanism and $\mathcal{O}(1)$ neutrino Yukawa couplings in a straightforwar…
We study the constraints that electroweak precision data can impose, after the discovery of the Higgs boson by the LHC, on neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet models which comprise one extra $SU(2)\times U(1)$ doublet and a new symmetry, namely a spontaneously broken $\mathbb{Z}_2$ or a softly broken global $U(1)$. In these models the extra Higgs doublet, via its very small vacuum expectation value, is the sole responsible for neutrino masses. We find that the model with a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry is basically ruled out by electroweak precision data, even if the model is slightly extended to inclu…
Under the assumption of hierarchical right-handed neutrino masses, masses of right-handed neutrinos must be larger than $10^8$ GeV in the standard thermal leptogenesis scenario, while the mass can be reduced to around 5 TeV in a neutrinophilic two Higgs doublet model. On the other hand, resonant leptogenesis can work with the masses of TeV-scale. However, necessary degeneracy between the lightest and the second lightest right-handed neutrino masses means unnatural fine-tuning of the order of $10^9$. In this paper, we will investigate the resonant leptogenesis scenario in a neutrinophilic two H…
If the Dirac neutrino masses are generated by a new scalar doublet with a vacuum at keV order, there would be rare hope to probe the framework in low-energy flavor physics, such as the lepton-flavor violating processes. However, the predicted neutrino Yukawa couplings being around the order of electronic Yukawa can realize a purely thermal Dirac leptogenesis, and thus render a more direct link between the high- and the low-energy CP violation. Despite its inert property in the low-energy flavor processes, the keV-vacuum induced Dirac neutrino model can generate a significant shift of the effec…
In a recently proposed neutrinophilic two-Higgs doublet model, the low-energy (sub-MeV) effective theory consists of a real scalar with a vev of O(0.1) eV and three Dirac neutrinos. Other models could lead to the same low energy theory. In this Brief Report, we study constraints on the parameter space of the model, including vacuum stability, unitarity, perturbativity and the effects on the invisible Z width. Interestingly, we find that all neutrinos become massless at temperatures above approximately 1000 K, but can find no phenomenological effects of this finding. The most direct test of the…
In neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet models, neutrinos acquire mass due to a Higgs field with vacuum expectation value of the order of 10^{-2} eV, corresponding to a Compton wavelength in the 10 micrometer range. This creates a situation in which nonminimal couplings between Higgs fields and spacetime curvature may lead to novel observable effects. Among these, we discuss the possibility of variable neutrino masses, with implications for the dependence of the neutrino oscillation frequency on the spacetime curvature, a further source of dispersion of the neutrino arrival times from supernovae e…
Dirac neutrinos with lepton-number-violating interactions can give rise to a new leptogenesis mechanism. In its simplest renormalizable realization, based on a gauged B-L symmetry spontaneously broken by four units, the decay of a new scalar creates an asymmetry in the right-handed neutrinos. A neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet model converts this asymmetry to the baryons, provides a natural explanation of the small neutrino masses, and can lead to an effective number of relativistic degrees of freedom of N(eff) = 3.29 due to the entropy-suppressed contribution of the right-handed neutrinos.
In Neutrinophilic Two Higgs Doublet Models, Dirac neutrino masses are obtained by forbidding a Majorana mass term for the right-handed neutrinos via a symmetry. We study a variation of such models in which that symmetry is taken to be a local U(1), leading naturally to the typical Lagrangian of the inverse seesaw scenario. The presence of a new gauge boson and of an extended scalar sector result in a rich phenomenology, including modifications to Z, Higgs and kaon decays as well as to electroweak precision parameters, and a pseudoscalar associated to the breaking of lepton number.
The minimal Type I see-saw model cannot explain the observed neutrino masses and the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via hierarchical thermal leptogenesis without ceding naturalness. We show that this conclusion can be avoided by adding a second Higgs doublet with $\tanβ\gtrsim 4$. The models considered naturally accommodate a SM-like Higgs boson, and predict TeV-scale scalar states and low- to intermediate-scale hierarchical leptogenesis with $10^3\text{ GeV}\lesssim M_{N_1}\lesssim 10^8\text{ GeV}$.
A TeV-scale Higgs doublet can acquire a tiny vacuum expectation value via its small mixing with the standard model Higgs doublet. Ones then can realize a testable Dirac neutrino mass generation through the sizable Yukawa couplings among this new Higgs doublet, several right-handed neutrinos and the standard model lepton doublets. We show the small mixing between the two Higgs doublets can come from certain interactions for generating the cosmic baryon asymmetry.
Several authors have pointed out that the scalar-mediated interaction of neutrinos in a neutriophilic two-Higgs-doublet model (nu2HDM) can be as strong as electromagnetic interaction [1-3]. We show that the coupling constants of neutrino-scalar interaction are actually restricted to be y_i < 1.5 x 10^{-3} by supernova neutrino observation, and further constrained to be y_i < 2.3 x 10^{-4} by precision measurements of acoustic peaks of the cosmic microwave background. Based on the energy-loss argument for supernova cores, we derive a slightly more restrictive bound y_i < 3.5 x 10^{-5}. Therefor…
If fermion condensation is a main source of electroweak symmetry breaking, an ultra-heavy Higgs doublet of mass ~10^8 GeV can yield naturally small Dirac neutrino masses. We show that such a scenario can lead to a new leptogenesis mechanism based on the decays of the ultra-heavy Higgs. Given its very large mass, the requisite Higgs doublet can be considered an elementary particle and would point to a cutoff scale ~10^10 GeV. We outline how our scenario can also naturally lead to composite asymmetric dark matter. Some potential signals of this scenario are discussed.
Lepton number violation plays an essential role in many scenarios of neutrino mass generation and also provides new clues to search new physics beyond the standard model. We consider the neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet model ($ν$-2HDM) where additional right-handed neutral fermions $N_{Ri}$ and a complex singlet scalar $σ$ are also involved. In scalar sector, the global $U(1)_{L}$ symmetry is spontaneous broken, leading to Nambu-Goldstone boson, the Majoron $J$, accompanied by the Majorana neutrino mass generation. We find that the massless Majoron will induce large invisible Higgs decay, and…
In this paper, we consider the possibility of generating the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis in the context of triplet fermion mediated type-III seesaw model of neutrino mass. With a hierarchical spectrum of the additional fermions, the lower bound on the lightest triplet mass is $\sim 10^{10} {\rm~GeV}$ for successful leptogenesis, a couple of orders higher than that of the type-I case. We investigate the possibility of lowering this bound in the framework of two-Higgs-doublet models. We find that the bounds can be lowered down to $10^7$ GeV for a hierarchical spect…
Our present work explores the possibility of neutrino mass generation through {\em Type-I see-saw} mechanism and provides an explanation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via thermal leptogenesis in the framework of $Z_3$-symmetric three Higgs doublet model (3HDM) augmented with three right-handed neutrinos. Here the thermal leptogenesis is initiated by the out-of-equilibrium decay of the lightest heavy neutrino $N_1$. The constraints arising out of the scalar sector put strong bound on the model parameter $\tan β$, which in turn takes part in the computation of the lepton asymmetry $ε$.…
In the Higgs Triplet Model and the neutrinophilic Two-Higgs-Doublet Model the observed neutrinos obtain mass from a vacuum expectation value which is much smaller than the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs boson in the Standard Model. Both models contain a singly charged Higgs boson (H^-) whose Yukawa coupling is directly related to the neutrino mass (i.e. a "neutrinophilic charged Higgs"). The partial decay widths of H^- into a charged lepton and a neutrino (H^- to l^- nu) depend identically on the neutrino masses and mixings in the two models. We quantify the impact of the recent measure…
We investigate a simple variant of type-II seesaw, responsible for neutrino mass generation, where the particle spectrum is extended with one singlet right-handed neutrino and an inert Higgs doublet, both odd under an additional $Z_2$ symmetry. While the role of the dark matter is played by the lightest neutral component of the inert Higgs doublet, its interaction with the Standard Model lepton doublets and the right-handed neutrino turns out to be crucial in generating the correct baryon abundance of the Universe through flavored leptogenesis from the decay of the $SU(2)_L$ scalar triplet, in…
We have proposed a new minimal extension of the Standard Model with a heavy Majorana fermion triplet($Σ$) and an extra scalar doublet($η$) so that the seesaw mechanism is radiative and can be accessible at upcoming accelerators. The origin of neutrino mass via the famous seesaw mechanism through the heavy Majorana fermion triplet has been discussed. We have proposed a mechanism of leptogenesis by the decay of the lightest neutral component of the fermion triplet into a Standard Model lepton doublet and an extra Higgs doublet. The important thing is that the leptogenesis scenario discussed in t…
The nature of dark matter (DM) particles and the mechanism that provides their measured relic abundance are currently unknown. In this paper we investigate inert scalar and vector like fermion doublet DM candidates with a charge asymmetry in the dark sector, which is generated by the same mechanism that provides the baryon asymmetry, namely baryogenesis-via-leptogenesis induced by decays of scalar triplets. At the same time the model gives rise to neutrino masses in the ballpark of oscillation experiments via type II seesaw. We discuss possible sources of depletion of asymmetry in the DM and v…
We have studied dark matter (DM) phenomenology, neutrinoless double beta decay (NDBD) and realized low scale leptogenesis in an extension of Standard Model(SM) with three neutral fermions, a scalar doublet and a dark sector incorporating a singlet scalar and a Dirac singlet fermion. A generic model based on $A_4\times Z_4$ flavor symmetry including five flavons is used to explain both normal and inverted hierarchy mass patterns of neutrino and also to accommodate the dark matter mass. In this extension of the $ν$2HDM, the effective neutrino mass observed in $0νββ$ is well within the experiment…
We propose a scalar Triplet extension of the standard model (SM) to unify the origin of neutrino mass with the visible and dark matter component of the Universe. We assume that the scalar triplet is super heavy, so that its CP-violating out-of-equilibrium decay in the early Universe not only produce asymmetric dark matter which is the neutral component of an additional vector like fermion doublet, but also give rise to lepton asymmetry. The latter gets converted to observed baryon asymmetry via B+L violating sphaleron processes. Below electroweak phase transition the scalar triplet acquires a …
Leptogenesis may be induced by the mixing of extra Higgs doublets with experimentally accessible masses. This mechanism relies on diagrammatic cuts that are kinematically forbidden in the vacuum but contribute at finite temperature. A resonant enhancement of the asymmetry occurs generically provided the dimensionless Yukawa and self-interactions are suppressed compared to those of the Standard Model Higgs field. This is in contrast to typical scenarios of Resonant Leptogenesis, where the asymmetry is enhanced by imposing a degeneracy of singlet neutrino masses.
The left-right symmetric model with doublet and bi-doublet Higgs scalars can accommodate linear, inverse or double seesaw for generating small neutrino masses in the presence of three singlet fermions. If the singlet fermions have small Majorana masses, they can form three pairs of quasi-degenerate Majorana fermions with three right-handed neutrinos. The decays of the quasi-degenerate Majorana fermions can realize the resonant leptogenesis. Alternatively, the right-handed neutrinos can obtain seesaw suppressed Majorana masses if the singlet fermions are very heavy. In this case leptogenesis, w…
We examine neutrino oscillations in a two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) in which the second doublet couples only to the third generation right-handed up-fermions, i.e., to t_R and to N_3 which is the heaviest right-handed Majorana neutrino. The inherently large tan(beta) of this model can naturally account for the large top mass and, based on a quark-lepton similarity ansatz, when embedded into a seesaw mechanism it can also account for the observed neutrino masses and mixing angles giving a very small θ_{13}: -0.017 < θ_{13} < 0.021 at 99% CL, and a very restrictive prediction for the atmospheri…
We extend the standard model by three types of inert fields including Majorana fermion singlets/triplets, real Higgs singlets/triplets and leptonic Higgs doublets. In the presence of a softly broken lepton number and an exactly conserved Z_2 discrete symmetry, these inert fields together can mediate a one-loop diagram for a Majorana neutrino mass generation. The heavier inert fields can decay to realize a successful leptogenesis while the lightest inert field can provide a stable dark matter candidate. As an example, we demonstrate the leptogenesis by the inert Higgs doublet decays. We also pe…
We propose an appealing alternative scenario of leptogenesis assisted by dark sector which leads to the baryon asymmetry of the Universe satisfying all theoretical and experimental constraints. The dark sector carries a non minimal set up of singlet doublet fermionic dark matter extended with copies of a real singlet scalar field. A small Majorana mass term for the singlet dark fermion, in addition to the typical Dirac term, provides the more favourable dark matter of pseudo-Dirac type, capable of escaping the direct search. Such a construction also offers a formidable scope to radiative gener…
We show that a high-scale leptogenesis can be consistent with a low-scale one-loop neutrino mass generation. Our models are based on the SU(3)_c\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y\times U(1)_{B-L} gauge groups. Except a complex singlet scalar for the U(1)_{B-L} symmetry breaking, the other new scalars and fermions (one scalar doublet, two or more real scalar singlets/triplets and three right-handed neutrinos) are odd under an unbroken Z_2 discrete symmetry. The real scalar decays can produce an asymmetry stored in the new scalar doublet which subsequently decays into the standard model lepton doublets…
Among three typical energy scales, a neutrino mass scale ($m_ν\sim$ 0.1 eV), a GUT scale ($M_{GUT}\sim 10^{16}$ GeV), and a TeV-scale ($M_{NP}\sim 1$ TeV), there is a fascinating relation of $M_{NP}\simeq \sqrt{m_ν\cdot M_{GUT}}$. The TeV-scale, $M_{NP}$, is a new physics scale beyond the standard model which is regarded as supersymmetry in this letter. We suggest a simple supersymmetric neutrinophilic Higgs doublet model, which realizes the above relation dynamically as well as the suitable $m_ν$ through a tiny vacuum expectation value of neutrinophilic Higgs without additional scales other t…
We explore the phenomenology of the Georgi-Machacek model extended with two Higgs doublets and vector fermion doublets invariant under $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y\times \mathcal {Z}_4 \times \mathcal {Z}_2$. The $\mathcal {Z}_4$ symmetry is broken spontaneously while the imposed $\mathcal {Z}_2$ symmetry forbids triplet fields to generate any vacuum expectation value and leading to an inert dark sector providing a viable candidate for dark matter and generate neutrino mass radiatively. Another interesting feature of the model is leptogenesis arising from decay of vector-like fermions. A detailed st…
We consider an extended supersymmetric SO(10) seesaw model with only doublet Higgs scalars, in which neutrino masses are suppressed by the scale of D-parity violation. Leptogenesis can occur at the TeV scale through the decay of a singlet Sigma, thereby avoiding the gravitino crisis. Washout of the asymmetry can be effectively suppressed by the absence of direct couplings of Sigma to leptons.
In the conventional seesaw models of neutrino masses, leptogenesis occurs at a very high scale. Three approaches have been discussed in the literature to lower the scale of leptogenesis: mass degeneracy, hierarchy of couplings and three-body decays. We advocate yet another approach to a testable leptogenesis, whereby the decaying particles could go out of equilibrium at an accessible scale due to kinematics, although their couplings to the decay products are larger for generating a desired CP asymmetry. We demonstrate this new possibility for the testable leptogenesis in a two Higgs doublet mo…
A low intermediate scale within minimal supersymmetric SO(10) GUTs is a desirable feature to accommodate leptogenesis. We explore this possibility in models where the intermediate gauge symmetry breaks spontaneously by (a) doublet Higgs scalars and also (b) by triplets. In both scenarios gauge coupling unification requires the scale of left-right symmetry breaking ($M_R$) to be close to the unification scale. This will entail unnaturally small neutrino Yukawa couplings to avoid the gravitino problem and allow successful leptogenesis. We point out that any one of three options -- threshold corr…
In the presence of large extra dimensions, the fundamental scale could be as low as a few TeV. This yields leptogenesis and seesaw at a TeV scale. Phenomenologically two TeV-scale Majorana fermions with a small mass split can realize a resonant leptogenesis whereas a TeV-scale Higgs triplet with a small trilinear coupling to the standard model Higgs doublet can give a verifiable seesaw. We propose an interesting scenario where the small parameters for the resonant leptogenesis and the type-II seesaw can be simultaneously generated by the propagation of lepton number violation from distant bran…
We explain the electron-positron excess reported by the DAMPE collaboration recently in a radiative Dirac seesaw model where a dark $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry can (i) forbid the tree-level Yukawa couplings of three right-handed neutrinos to the standard model lepton and Higgs doublets, (ii) predict the existence of three dark fermions for the gauge anomaly cancellation, (iii) mediate a testable scattering of the lightest dark fermion off the nucleons. Our model can also accommodate a successful leptogenesis to generate the cosmic baryon asymmetry.
The neutral component of an inert scalar multiplet with hypercharge can provide a stable dark matter particle when its real and imaginary parts have a splitting mass spectrum. Otherwise, a tree-level dark matter-nucleon scattering mediated by the $Z$ boson will be much above the experimental limit. In this paper we focus on a mixed inert scalar triplet dark matter scenario where a complex scalar triplet with hypercharge can mix with another real scalar triplet without hypercharge through their renormalizable coupling to the standard model Higgs doublet. We consider three specified cases that c…
We propose a scenario of thermal leptogenesis at the TeV scale in the context of an extension of the Standard Model with 4 generations. We also add one right-handed Majorana neutrino for each generation to generate left handed neutrino masses via see-saw. The rôle of the fourth lepton doublet is not much different from that of a supersymmetric partner, so the leptogenesis consequences of a four generation scenario are indicators of a more generic picture. We obtain a value for the baryon asymmetry of the Universe in accordance with observations by solving the full set of coupled Boltzmann equa…
We investigate what would be the consequences for leptogenesis of the existence of a charged SU(2)_L singlet scalar delta^+. If such a scalar particle exists, it allows the right-handed neutrinos to couple not only to left-handed lepton and Higgs doublets as in ordinary leptogenesis, but also to a right-handed charged lepton and a delta^+. This provides a new source of leptogenesis which can be successful in a non-resonant way at scales as low as TeV. The incorporation of this scenario in left-right symmetric and unified models is discussed.
We extend the DFSZ invisible axion model to simultaneously explain small Dirac neutrino masses and cosmic matter-antimatter asymmetry. After the Peccei-Quinn and electroweak symmetry breaking, the effective Yukawa couplings of the Dirac neutrinos to the standard model Higgs scalar can be highly suppressed by the ratio of the vacuum expectation value of an iso-triplet Higgs scalar over the masses of some heavy gauge-singlet fermions, iso-doublet Higgs scalars or iso-triplet fermions. The iso-triplet fields can carry a zero or nonzero hypercharge. Through the decays of the heavy gauge-singlet fe…
We propose an interesting model of neutrino masses to realize leptogenesis and dark matter at the TeV scale. A real scalar is introduced to naturally realize the Majorana masses of the right-handed neutrinos. We also include a new Higgs doublet that contributes to the dark matter of the universe. The neutrino masses come from the vacuum expectation value of the triplet Higgs scalar. The right-handed neutrinos are not constrained by the neutrino masses and hence they could generate leptogenesis at the TeV scale without subscribing to resonant leptogenesis. In our model, all new particles could …
A one-flavour naturalness argument suggests that the Type I seesaw model cannot naturally explain neutrino masses and the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via hierarchical thermal leptogenesis. We prove that there is no way to avoid this conclusion in a minimal three-flavour setup. We then comment on the simplest ways out. In particular, we focus on a resolution utilising a second Higgs doublet. Such models predict an automatically SM-like Higgs boson, (maximally) TeV-scale scalar states, and low- to intermediate-scale hierarchical leptogenesis with $10^3\text{ GeV}\lesssim M_{N_1}\lesssim 10^…
In this paper, we study the pair production and their decays of the Higges in the neutrinophilic Higgs two doublet model. The pair production occurs through W and Z gauge bosons fusion process. In the neutrinophilic model, the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the second Higgs doublet is small and is proportional to the neutrino mass. The smallness of VEV is associated with the approximate global U(1) symmetry which is slightly broken. Therefore, there is a suppression factor for the U(1) charge breaking process. The second Higgs doublet has U(1) charge and its single production from the gauge…
Leptogenesis is usually realized through decays of heavy particles. In this article we consider another possibility of generating a lepton asymmetry through annihilations of heavy particles. We demonstrate our idea with a realistic extension of the standard model containing a heavy doublet and a light singlet scalars in addition to right-handed neutrinos and Higgs triplets required for type-I+II seesaw of neutrino masses. We also clarify that this annihilating leptogenesis scenario can be naturally embedded in more fundamental theories, like left-right symmetric models or grand unified theorie…
Realization of the inverted hierarchy is studied in the radiative neutrino mass model with an additional doublet, in which neutrino masses and dark matter could be induced from a common particle. We show that the sufficient baryon number asymmetry is generated through resonant leptogenesis even for the case with rather mild degeneracy among TeV scale right-handed neutrinos. We also discuss the relation between this neutrino mass generation mechanism and low energy experiments for the DM direct search, the neutrinoless double $β$ decay and so on.
In this work we use previous results on the masses and mixing of neu- trinos of an S3 model with three right-handed Majorana neutrinos and three Higgs doublets, to reduce one parameter in the case when two of the right-handed neutrinos are mass degenerate. We derive a new param- eterization for the VP M N S mixing matrix, with a new set of parameters, in the more general case where the right-handed neutrino masses are dif- ferent. With these results, we calculate leptogenesis and the associated baryogenesis in the model in the two different scenarios. We show that it is possible to have enough…
Leptogenesis appears to be a viable alternative to account for the baryon asymmetry of the universe through baryogenesis. In this context, we consider a scenario in which the standard model is extended with $S_3$ and $Z_2$ symmetry in addition to the two scalar triplets, two scalar doublets and three right handed neutrinos. Presence of scalar triplets and right-handed neutrinos in the scenarios of both type-I and type-II seesaw framework provide a different leptogenesis option and can help us to understand the matter-antimatter asymmetry with simple $S_3$ symmetry. We discuss the neutrino phen…
