Using the Local Composite Operator formalism, we analytically study the dimension two gluon condensate in the presence of instantons. We first use the dilute gas approximation and partially solve the infrared problem of instanton physics. In order to find quantitative results, however, we turn to an instanton liquid model, where we find a two-component picture of the condensate: one component comes from instantons, a second component is non-perturbatively generated by quantum fluctuations around the instantons.
We construct a four-dimensional consistent truncation to the bosonic part of the universal sector of Calabi-Yau IIA compactification (i.e. the gravity multiplet, one vectormultiplet, and one hypermultiplet) in the presence of background flux and fermionic condensates generated by gravitational instantons. The condensates are controlled by the ratio of the characteristic length of the Calabi-Yau to the string length, and can be fine-tuned to be dominant in a region of large volume and small string coupling. The consistent truncation admits de Sitter solutions supported by the condensates, subje…
We discuss an extension of the instanton-dyon liquid model that includes twisted light quarks in the fundamental representation with explicit $Z_{N_c}$ symmetry for the case with equal number of colors $N_c$ and flavors $N_f$. We map the model on a 3-dimensional quantum effective theory, and analyze it in the mean-field approximation. The effective potential and the vacuum chiral condensates are made explicit for $N_f=N_c=2, 3$. The low temperature phase is center symmetric but breaks spontaneously flavor symmetry with $N_f-1$ massless pions. The high temperature phase breaks center symmetry b…
The aim of this work is to study some possible local and global $U(1)$ axial condensates in the high-temperature chirally restored phase of QCD, by means of two nonperturbative analytical techniques: (i) by expressing the functional averages in terms of the spectral density of the Euclidean Dirac operator and (ii) by evaluating the functional integrals in the instanton-background approximation. In this way, besides proving that these condensates are indeed different from zero in the high-temperature regime, we shall also derive their asymptotic temperature dependence and compare it with that o…
