We study a cosmological model in 1+D+d dimensions where D dimensions are associated with the usual Friedman-Robertson-Walker type metric with radio a(t) and d dimensions corresponds to an additional homogeneous space with radio b(t). We make a general analysis of the field equations and then we obtain solutions involving the two cosmological radii, a(t) and b(t). The particular case D=3, d=1 is studied in some detail.
This is the second paper in a series of four in which we use space adiabatic methods in order to incorporate backreactions among the homogeneous and between the homogeneous and inhomogeneous degrees of freedom in quantum cosmological perturbation theory. The purpose of the present paper is twofold. On the one hand, it illustrates the formalism of space adiabatic perturbation theory (SAPT) for two simple quantum mechanical toy models. On the other, it proves the main point, namely that backreactions lead to additional correction terms in effective Hamiltonians that one would otherwise neglect i…
We introduce three families of classical and quantum solutions to the leading order of string effective action on spatially homogeneous $(2+1)$-dimensional space-times with the sources given by the contributions of dilaton, antisymmetric gauge $B$-field, and central charge deficit term $Λ$. At the quantum level, solutions of Wheeler-DeWitt equations have been enriched by considering the quantum versions of the classical conditional symmetry equations. Concerning the possible applications of the obtained solutions, the semiclassical analysis of Bohm's mechanics has been performed to demonstrate…
The homogeneous and isotropic cosmological model in the Weyl conformal geometry is considered. We showed that, despite the conformal invariance, the dust matter is allowed in such a universe. It is shown that the number of dust particles is not conserved, i. e., they are continuously produced. The general form of the law for their creation is found.
It is known that de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive gravity does not permit a homogeneous and isotropic universe with flat or spherical spatial metrics. We demonstrate that a singular reference metric solves this problem in an economic and straightforward way. In the dRGT massive gravity with a singular reference metric, there are sound homogeneous and isotropic cosmological solutions. We investigate cosmologies with the static and dynamical singular reference metrics, respectively. The term like dark energy appears naturally and the universe accelerates itself in some late time evolution…
We apply topspin network formalism to Loop Quantum Gravity in order to include in the theory the possibility of changes in the topology of spacetime. We apply this formalism to three toy models: with the first, we find that the topology can actually change due to the action of the Hamiltonian constraint and with the second we find that the final state might be a superposition of states with different topologies. In the third and last application, we consider an homogeneous and isotropic Universe, calculating the difference equation that describes the evolution of the system and which are the f…

The usual description of inflationary fluctuations uses the framework of quantum field theory (QFT) in curved spacetime, in which quantum fluctuations are superimposed on a classical background spacetime. Even for large fluctuations, such as those envisioned during a regime of eternal inflation, this framework is frequently used. In the present work we go one step beyond this description by quantising both the scalar field and the scale factor of the universe. Employing the Lorentzian path integral formulation of semi-classical gravity we restrict to a simplified minisuperspace setting by cons…
The scope of this paper is to compare two different approaches for solving the Wheeler-DeWitt (WDW) equation in the presence of homogeneous matter (inflaton) and perturbations around it. The standard Born-Oppenheimer (BO) decomposition, which consists of factorizing out the gravitational wave function and then defining the flow of the time through it, and a more general BO decomposition where the whole minisuperspace wave function is factorized out. The two approaches are compared, for simplicity, in the case of a minimally coupled inflaton with a flat potential. The consistency of the latter …
