Research in the Life Sciences depends on the integration of large, distributed and heterogeneous data sources and web services. The discovery of which of these resources are the most appropriate to solve a given task is a complex research question, since there is a large amount of plausible candidates and there is little, mostly unstructured, metadata to be able to decide among them.We contribute a semi-automatic approach, based on semantic techniques, to assist researchers in the discovery of the most appropriate web services to full a set of given requirements.

In this work, we show how to discover a semantic web service among a repository of web services. A new approach for web service discovery based on calculating the functions similarity. We define the Web service functions with Ontology Web Language (OWL). We wrote some rules for comparing two web services` parameters. Our algorithm compares the parameters of two web services` inputs/outputs by making a bipartite graph. We compute the similarity rate by using the Ford-Fulkerson algorithm. The higher the similarity, the less are the differences between their functions. At last, our algorithm choo…

The semantic information regulates the expressiveness of a web service. State-of-the-art approaches in web services research have used the semantics of a web service for different purposes, mainly for service discovery, composition, execution etc. In this paper, our main focus is on semantic driven Quality of Service (QoS) aware service composition. Most of the contemporary approaches on service composition have used the semantic information to combine the services appropriately to generate the composition solution. However, in this paper, our intention is to use the semantic information to ex…
Distributed computing which uses Web services as fundamental elements, enables high-speed development of software applications through composing many interoperating, distributed, re-usable, and autonomous services. As a fundamental challenge for service developers, service composition must fulfil functional requirements and optimise Quality of Service (QoS) attributes, simultaneously. On the other hand, huge amounts of data have been created by advances in technologies, which may be exchanged between services. Data-intensive Web services are of great interest to implement data-intensive proces…
With an increasing number of web services, providing an end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee in responding to user queries is becoming an important concern. Multiple QoS parameters (e.g., response time, latency, throughput, reliability, availability, success rate) are associated with a service, thereby, service composition with a large number of candidate services is a challenging multi-objective optimization problem. In this paper, we study the multi-constrained multi-objective QoS aware web service composition problem and propose three different approaches to solve the same, one opt…
Web Service Composition (WSC) is a particularly promising application of Web services, where multiple individual services with specific functionalities are composed to accomplish a more complex task, which must fulfil functional requirements and optimise Quality of Service (QoS) attributes, simultaneously. Additionally, large quantities of data, produced by technological advances, need to be exchanged between services. Data-intensive Web services, which manipulate and deal with those data, are of great interest to implement data-intensive processes, such as distributed Data-intensive Web Servi…
Web Service is one of the most significant current discussions in information sharing technologies and one of the examples of service oriented processing. To ensure accurate execution of web services operations, it must be adaptable with policies of the social networks in which it signs up. This adaptation implements using controls called 'Commitment'. This paper describes commitments structure and existing research about commitments and social web services, then suggests an algorithm for consistency of commitments in social web services. As regards the commitments may be executed concurrently…

The transition to Industry 4.0 requires smart manufacturing systems that are easily configurable and provide a high level of flexibility during manufacturing in order to achieve mass customization or to support cloud manufacturing. To realize this, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods find their way into manufacturing shop floors. For using AI methods in the context of Industry 4.0, semantic web services are indispensable to provide a reasonable abstraction of the underlying manufacturing capabilities. In this paper, we present semantic web services …

Our software system simulates the classical collaborative Japanese poetry form, renga, made of linked haikus. We used NLP methods wrapped up as web services. Our experiments were only a partial success, since results fail to satisfy classical constraints. To gather ideas for future work, we examine related research in semiotics, linguistics, and computing.

In this work we propose a new approach for semantic web matching to improve the performance of Web Service replacement. Because in automatic systems we should ensure the self-healing, self-configuration, self-optimization and self-management, all services should be always available and if one of them crashes, it should be replaced with the most similar one. Candidate services are advertised in Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) all in Web Ontology Language (OWL). By the help of bipartite graph, we did the matching between the crashed service and a Candidate one. Then we ch…

Since using environments that are made according to the service oriented architecture, we have more effective and dynamic applications. Semantic matchmaking process is finding valuable service candidates for substitution. It is a very important aspect of using semantic Web Services. Our proposed matchmaker algorithm performs semantic matching of Web Services on the basis of input and output descriptions of semantic Web Services matching. This technique takes advantages from a graph structure and flow networks. Our novel approach is assigning matchmaking scores to semantics of the inputs and ou…

Microservice-based architectures enable different aspects of web applications to be created and updated independently, even after deployment. Associated technologies such as service mesh provide application-level fault resilience through attribute configurations that govern the behavior of request-response service -- and the interactions among them -- in the presence of failures. While this provides tremendous flexibility, the configured values of these attributes -- and the relationships among them -- can significantly affect the performance and fault resilience of the overall application. Fu…
