We propose a gauged $U(1)_{H}$ horizontal symmetry around TeV scale that is a subgroup of a $SU(3)_{H}$ horizontal gauge symmetry broken at ${\cal O}(10^{14}) \GeV$. The breaking generates right-handed Majorana neutrino masses through a $SU(3)_H$ sextet scalar. A particular Majorana right-handed neutrino mass matrix explicitly determines the remnant $U(1)_{H}$ at low energy which only couples to $b-s$ and $μ-τ$ in the gauge eigenstate. The dangerous $K-\bar{K}$, $D-\bar{D}$ mixing and $B_s \rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ are kept to be safe because the relevant couplings are suppressed through high powers of small mixing angles in the fermion rotation matrix. Our analysis which applies to the general case shows that the Tevatron di-muon anomaly can be explained through the $B_{s}$ and $B_{d}$ mixing while keeping all the other experimental constraints within 90 \% C. L. For the $B$ meson decay, the $B_{s}\to μ^{\pm}τ^{\mp}$ is the leading leptonic decay channel which is several orders of magnitude below current experimental bound.
Implications of TeV Flavor Physics for the ΔI =1/2 Rule and the B-meson Semileptonic Branching Ratio
Grand Unified Theories (GUT) offer an elegant and unified description of electromagnetic, weak and strong interactions at high energy scales. A phenomenological and exciting possibility to grasp GUT is to search for TeV scale observables arising from Abelian groups embedded in GUT constructions. That said, we use dilepton data (ee and $μμ$) that has been proven to be a golden channel for a wide variety of new phenomena expected in theories beyond the Standard Model to probe GUT-inspired models. Since heavy dilepton resonances feature high signal selection efficiencies and relatively well-under…
We review the constraints on the small-x gluon PDF that can be derived by exploiting the forward D meson production data from the LHCb experiment at $\sqrt{s}=5,7$ and 13 TeV. We then discuss the phenomenological implications of the resulting improved small-x gluon for ultra-high energy astrophysics, in particular neutrino telescopes, as well as for the proposed Future Circular Collider (FCC) with $\sqrt{s}=100$ TeV. We illustrate how at the FCC even electroweak scale cross-sections can become sensitive to the small-x region of the quark and gluon PDFs, and then demonstrate how the addition of…
We consider a class of $b-τ$ Yukawa unified Supersymmetric (SUSY) $SU(5)$ GUTs, in which the asymptotic gaugino $M_{1,2,3}$ masses are generated through a combination of gravity and mirage mediated supersymmetry breaking. Due to the contributions from mirage mediation, $M_{3}$ is always lighter than M_{1} and M_{2}, and consequently for the range of asymptotic masses considered, the gluino mass at low scale is bounded from above at about 4 TeV. We realize two different regions, one in which the MSSM $μ-$term is less than about 3 TeV. This region yields a stop mass up to 5 TeV, and the stop mas…
Spontaneous breaking of inter-family (horizontal) gauge symmetries can be at the origin of the mass hierarchy between the fermion families. The corresponding gauge bosons have flavor-nondiagonal couplings which generically induce the flavour changing phenomena, and this puts strong lower limits on the flavor symmetry breaking scales. However, in the special choices of chiral horizontal symmetries the flavor changing effects can be naturally suppressed. For the sake of demonstration, we consider the case of leptonic gauge symmetry $SU(3)_e$ acting between right-handed leptons and show that the …
Observations by HAWC indicate that many young pulsars (including Geminga and Monogem) are surrounded by spatially extended, multi-TeV emitting regions. It is not currently known, however, whether TeV emission is also produced by recycled, millisecond pulsars (MSPs). In this study, we perform a stacked analysis of 24 MSPs within HAWC's field-of-view, finding between 2.6-3.2 sigma evidence that these sources are, in fact, surrounded by TeV halos. The efficiency with which these MSPs produce TeV halos is similar to that exhibited by young pulsars. This result suggests that several dozen MSPs will…
We investigate the parameter space of the new Littlest Higgs model with T-parity (NLHT) recently introduced to cure some pathologies of the original LHT. The model requires extra fermion content and additional pseudo-Goldstone bosons. While the heavy top quark sector is similar, there are both T-odd and T-even heavy quarks and leptons with masses proportional to just two sets of Yukawa matrices in flavor space, one more than in the LHT. The new scalars are a singlet and real triplet, T-odd, with masses controlled by gauge and Yukawa couplings, independent of the spontaneous symmetry breaking s…
The method of horizontal scaled factorial moments as outlined by Bialas and Peschanski was used to conduct intermittency analysis for $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 0.9, 7 and 8 TeV from the CMS experiment. The data was obtained and processed from the CERN Open Data Portal. It was found from 1D analysis that the intermittency strength decreases with increasing energy, indicating that the signature of the $α$-model of random cascading that the former is based on seems to be weakening. Intermittency was stronger in 2D, but did not reveal any clear trend with increasing collision energy.
Two of the important implications of the seesaw mechanism are: (i) a simple way to understand the small neutrino masses, and (ii) the origin of matter-anti-matter asymmetry in the universe via the leptogenesis mechanism. For TeV-scale seesaw models, successful leptogenesis requires that the right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) must be quasi-degenerate and if they have CP violating phases, they also contribute to the CP asymmetry. We investigate this in the TeV-scale left-right models for seesaw and point out a way to probe the quasi-degeneracy possibility with CP violating mixings for RHNs in hadron …
Recent observations have detected extended TeV gamma-ray emission surrounding young and middle-aged pulsars. The morphology of these "TeV halos" requires cosmic-ray diffusion to be locally suppressed by a factor of ~100-1000 compared to the typical interstellar medium. No model currently explains this suppression. We show that cosmic-ray self-confinement can significantly inhibit diffusion near pulsars. The steep cosmic-ray gradient generates Alfven waves that resonantly scatter the same cosmic-ray population, suppressing diffusion within ~20 pc of pulsars younger than ~100 kyr. In this model,…
Recent anomalies in $B\to K^{(*)}\ell\ell$ meson decays are consistent with exchange of a heavy $Z'$ vector boson. Here we try to connect such new physics to understanding the origin of flavor, by gauging generation number. Phenomenological and theoretical considerations suggest that the smallest viable flavor symmetry (not including any extra U(1) factors) is chiral ${\rm SU(3)}_L\times{\rm SU(3)}_R$, which acts only on generation indices and does not distinguish between quarks and leptons. Spontaneous breaking of the symmetry gives rise to the standard model Yukawa matrices, and masses for t…
The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is a satellite-borne, high-energy particle and $γ$-ray detector, which is dedicated to indirectly detecting particle dark matter and studying high-energy astrophysics. The first results about precise measurement of the cosmic ray electron plus positron spectrum between 25 GeV and 4.6 TeV were published recently. The DAMPE spectrum reveals an interesting spectral softening around $0.9$ TeV and a tentative peak around $1.4$ TeV. These results have inspired extensive discussion. The detector of DAMPE, the data analysis, and the first results are introduce…
Many composite Higgs models predict the existence of vector-like quarks with masses outside the reach of the LHC, e.g. $m_Q \gtrsim 2$ TeV, in particular if these models contain a dark matter candidate. In such models the mass of the new resonances is bounded from above to satisfy the constraint from the observed relic density. We therefore develop new strategies to search for vector-like quarks at a future $100$ TeV collider and evaluate what masses and interactions can be probed. We find that masses as large as $\sim 6.4$ ($\sim 9$) TeV can be tested if the fermionic resonances decay into St…
The 750 GeV diphoton excess reported by ATLAS and CMS indicates the presence of several pairs of the vector-like matter multiplets around TeV scale. If that is the case, radiative corrections from the $SU(3)$ gauge interaction significantly change from those of MSSM, and the infrared-free nature of the gauge interaction leads to characteristic SUSY mass spectra: a ratio of a squark mass to the gluino mass, and scalar trilinear couplings are enhanced at the low-energy scale. Consequently, even in gaugino mediation models, the Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV is explained with the fairly light gluino…
