We examine a two-level system coupled to a quantum oscillator, typically representing experiments in cavity and circuit quantum electrodynamics. We show how such a system can be treated analytically in the ultrastrong coupling limit, where the ratio $g/Ω$ between coupling strength and oscillator frequency approaches unity and goes beyond. In this regime the Jaynes-Cummings model is known to fail, because counter-rotating terms have to be taken into account. By using Van Vleck perturbation theory to higher orders in the qubit tunneling matrix element $Δ$ we are able to enlarge the regime of applicability of existing analytical treatments, including in particular also the finite bias case. We present a detailed discussion on the energy spectrum of the system and on the dynamics of the qubit for an oscillator at low temperature. We consider the coupling strength $g$ to all orders, and the validity of our approach is even enhanced in the ultrastrong coupling regime. Looking at the Fourier spectrum of the population difference, we find that many frequencies are contributing to the dynamics. They are gathered into groups whose spacing depends on the qubit-oscillator detuning. Furthermore, the dynamics is not governed anymore by a vacuum Rabi splitting which scales linearly with $g$, but by a non-trivial dressing of the tunneling matrix element, which can be used to suppress specific frequencies through a variation of the coupling.
The treatment of anharmonic oscillators (including double-wells) by instanton methods is wellknown. The alternative differential equation method is not so wellknown. Here we reformulate the latter completely parallel to the strong coupling case of the cosine potential and Mathieu equation for which extensive literature and monographs exist.
We introduce an approach to studying a driven qubit-oscillator system in the ultrastrong coupling regime, where the ratio $g/Ω$ between coupling strength and oscillator frequency approaches unity or goes beyond, and simultaneously for driving strengths much bigger than the qubit energy splitting (extreme driving). Both qubit-oscillator coupling and external driving lead to a dressing of the qubit tunneling matrix element of different nature: the former can be used to suppress selectively certain oscillator modes in the spectrum, while the latter can bring the qubit's dynamics to a standstill a…
We analyse the one dimensional quartic oscillator using the effective operator methodology of Lee and Suzuki. We reproduce known results for low lying energy eigenvalues.
We examine a generalized script{PT}-Symmetric quartic anharmonic oscillator model to determine the various physical variables perturbatively in powers of a small quantity ε. We make use of the Bender-Dunne operator basis elements and exploit the properties of the totally symmetric operator T_{m,n}.
The purpose of this paper is the discussion of a pair of coupled linear oscillators that has recently been proposed as a model of a system of two optical resonators. By means of an algebraic approach we show that the frequencies of the classical and quantum-mechanical interpretations of the optical phenomenon are exactly the same. Consequently, if the classical frequencies are real, then the quantum-mechanical eigenvalues are also real.
We consider a quantum linear oscillator coupled to a bath in equilibrium at an arbitrary temperature and then exposed to an external field arbitrary in form and strength. We then derive the reduced density operator in closed form of the coupled oscillator in a non-equilibrium state at an arbitrary time.
A mapping is obtained relating radial screened Coulomb systems with low screening parameters to radial anharmonic oscillators in N-dimensional space. Using the formalism of supersymmetric quantum mechanics, it is shown that exact solutions of these potentials exist when the parameters satisfy certain constraints.
The algebraic method enables one to study the properties of the spectrum of a quadratic Hamiltonian through the mathematical properties of a matrix representation called regular or adjoint. This matrix exhibits exceptional points where it becomes defective and can be written in canonical Jordan form. It is shown that any quadratic function of $K$ coordinates and $K$ momenta leads to a $2K$ differential equation for those dynamical variables. We illustrate all these features of the algebraic method by means of the Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator and its PT-variant. We also consider a trivial quantiza…
When the coupling rate between two quantum systems becomes as large as their characteristic frequencies, it induces dramatic effects on their dynamics and even on the nature of their ground state. The case of a qubit coupled to a harmonic oscillator in this ultrastrong coupling regime has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. Here, we explore the case of two harmonic oscillators in the ultrastrong coupling regime. Specifically, we realize an analog quantum simulation of this coupled system by dual frequency pumping a nonlinear superconducting circuit. The pump amplitudes directly…
An effective scheme within two displaced bosonic operators with equal positive and negative displacements is extended to study qubit-oscillator systems analytically in an unified way. Many previous analytical treatments, such as generalized rotating-wave approximation (GRWA) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 173601 (2007)] and an expansion in the qubit tunneling matrix element in the deep strong coupling regime [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 263603 (2010)] can be recovered straightforwardly in the present scheme. Moreover, further improving GRWA and extension to the finite-bias case are implemented easily. The an…
Bound-state solutions of the singular harmonic oscillator and singular Coulomb potentials in arbitrary dimensions are generated in a simple way from the solutions of the one-dimensional generalized Morse potential. The nonsingular harmonic oscillator and nonsingular Coulomb potentials in arbitrary dimensions with their additional accidental degeneracies are obtained as particular cases. Added bonuses from these mappings are the straightforward determination of the critical attractive singular potential, the proper boundary condition on the radial eigenfunction at the origin and the inexistence…
We use coherent states as a time-dependent variational ansatz for a semiclassical treatment of the dynamics of anharmonic quantum oscillators. In this approach the square variance of the Hamiltonian within coherent states is of particular interest. This quantity turns out to have natural interpretation with respect to time-dependent solutions of the semiclassical equations of motion. Moreover, our approach allows for an estimate of the decoherence time of a classical object due to quantum fluctuations. We illustrate our findings at the example of the Toda chain.
We consider a system composed of a two-level system (i.e. a qubit) and a harmonic oscillator in the ultrastrong-coupling regime, where the coupling strength is comparable to the qubit and oscillator energy scales. Special emphasis is placed on the possibility of preparing nonclassical states in this system. These nonclassical states include squeezed states, Schrodinger-cat states and entangled states. We start by comparing the predictions of a number of analytical methods that can be used to describe the system under different assumptions, thus analyzing the properties of the system in various…
We investigate the pseudospin symmetry case of a spin-1/2 particle governed by the generalized isotonic oscillator, by presenting quasi exact polynomial solutions to Dirac equation with pseudospin symmetry vector and scalar potentials. The resulting equation is found to be quasi-exactly solvable owing to the existence of a hidden $sl(2)$ algebraic structure. A systematic and closed form solution to the basic equation is obtained using the Bethe ansatz method. Analytic expression for the energy is obtain and the wavefunction is derived in terms of the roots to a set of Bethe ansatz equations.
In this paper we have presented a generalized treatment of a photon scattering by a harmonic oscillator initially at ground state. We have predicted the scattering cross-section of the oscillator and showed how the treatment invariably requires the formalisms of renormalization. As a special case of our treatment, we discussed about Rayleigh and Thomson Scattering and computed the total cross-section in order to be consistent with experimental results. Two approximations are adopted in order to simplify the problem but without any digression from our goal. A second order perturbation theory is…
Quantum mechanical models and practical calculations often rely on some exactly solvable models like the Coulomb and the harmonic oscillator potentials. The $D$ dimensional generalized Coulomb potential contains these potentials as limiting cases, thus it establishes a continuous link between the Coulomb and harmonic oscillator potentials in various dimensions. We present results which are necessary for the utilization of this potential as a model and practical reference problem for quantum mechanical calculations. We define a Hilbert space basis, the generalized Coulomb-Sturmian basis, and ca…
Extended phase space (EPS) formulation of quantum statistical mechanics treats the ordinary phase space coordinates on the same footing and thereby permits the definite the canonical momenta conjugate to these coordinates . The extended lagrangian and extended hamiltonian are defined in EPS by the same procedure as one does for ordinary lagrangian and hamiltonian. The combination of ordinary phase space and their conjugate momenta exhibits the evolution of particles and their mirror images together. The resultant evolution equation in EPS for a damped harmonic oscillator, is such that the ener…
We measure the dispersive energy-level shift of an $LC$ resonator magnetically coupled to a superconducting qubit, which clearly shows that our system operates in the ultrastrong coupling regime. The large mutual kinetic inductance provides a coupling energy of $\approx0.82$~GHz, requiring the addition of counter-rotating-wave terms in the description of the Jaynes-Cummings model. We find a 50~MHz Bloch-Siegert shift when the qubit is in its symmetry point, fully consistent with our analytical model.
We study the intrinsic decoherence of coupled harmonic oscillators. The Milburn master equation is solved exactly, and the dynamics of virtual ground state excitations are investigated. The interaction of quantum correlations and virtual excitation was then studied. The following is a summary of our major findings. (i) The damped oscillatory profile of all three quantities is the same. (ii) Ultra-strong coupling combined with huge anisotropy values results in the reemergence of entanglement and steering. (iii) To sustain entanglement and steering, virtual excitations are required. (iv) The qua…
Recent measurement on an LC resonator magnetically coupled to a superconducting qubit[arXiv:1005.1559] shows that the system operates in the ultra-strong coupling regime and crosses the limit of validity for the rotating-wave approximation of the Jaynes-Cummings model. By using extended bosonic coherent states, we solve the Jaynes-Cummings model exactly without the rotating-wave approximation. Our numerically exact results for the spectrum of the flux qubit coupled to the LC resonator are fully consistent with the experimental observations. The smallest Bloch-Siegert shift obtained is consiste…
We report on a quantum electrodynamic (QED) investigation of the interaction between a ground state atom with another atom in an excited state. General expressions, applicable to any atom, are indicated for the long-range tails which are due to virtual resonant emission and absorption into and from vacuum modes whose frequency equals the transition frequency to available lower-lying atomic states. For identical atoms, one of which is in an excited state, we also discuss the mixing term which depends on the symmetry of the two-atom wave function (these evolve into either the gerade or the unger…
A general treatment of the quantal time-dependent coupled oscillators in presence of the variable magnetic field is presented. The treatment is based on the use of an alternative canonical transformations, time-dependent unitary transformations and the invariant methods. Exact wave functions for Schrödinger equations of this system are constructed. We applied our theory to a particular case and, co,sequently, showed that our results recovers to the perviously known one.
We study the effect of quantum entanglement maintained by virtual excitations in an ultrastrongly-coupled harmonic-oscillator system. Here, the quantum entanglement is caused by the counterrotating interaction terms and hence it is maintained by the virtual excitations. We obtain the analytical expression for the ground state of the system and analyze the relationship between the average excitation numbers and the ground-state entanglement. We also study the entanglement dynamics between the two oscillators in both the closed- and open-system cases. In the latter case, the quantum master equat…
We propose an ultra-sensitive mass spectrometer based on a coupled quantum-bit-oscillator system. Under dynamical decoupling control of the quantum bit (qubit), the qubit coherence exhibits a comb structure in time domain. The time-comb structure enables high precision measurement of oscillator frequency, which can be used as an ultra-sensitive mass spectrometer. Surprisingly, in ideal case, the sensitivity of the proposed mass spectrometer, which scales with the temperature $T$ as $T^{-1/2}$, has better performance in higher temperature. While taking into account qubit and oscillator decay, w…
We study the Rabi model composed of three qubits coupled to a harmonic oscillator without involving the rotating-wave approximation. We show that the ground state of the three-qubit Rabi model can be analytically treated by using the transformation method, and the transformed ground state agrees well with the exactly numerical simulation under a wide range of qubit-oscillator coupling strengths for different detunings. We use the pairwise entanglement to characterize the ground-state entanglement between any two qubits and show that it has an approximately quadratic dependence on the qubit-osc…
We study the system involving mutual interaction between three qubits and an oscillator within the ultrastrong coupling regime. We apply adiabatic approximation approach to explore two extreme regimes: (i) the oscillator's frequency is far larger than each qubit's frequency and (ii) the qubit's frequency is far larger than the oscillator's frequency, and analyze the energy-level spectrum and the ground-state property of the qubit-oscillator system under the conditions of various system parameters. For the energy-level spectrum, we concentrate on studying the degeneracy in low energy levels. Fo…
The explicit semiclassical treatment of logarithmic perturbation theory for the nonrelativistic bound states problem is developed. Based upon $\hbar$-expansions and suitable quantization conditions a new procedure for deriving perturbation expansions for the one-dimensional anharmonic oscillator is offered. Avoiding disadvantages of the standard approach, new handy recursion formulae with the same simple form both for ground and exited states have been obtained. As an example, the perturbation expansions for the energy eigenvalues of the harmonic oscillator perturbed by $λx^{6}$ are considered…
In this article we discuss and compare different ways to engineer an interface between ultracold atoms and micro- and nanomechanical oscillators. We start by analyzing a direct mechanical coupling of a single atom or ion to a mechanical oscillator and show that the very different masses of the two systems place a limit on the achievable coupling constant in this scheme. We then discuss several promising strategies for enhancing the coupling: collective enhancement by using a large number of atoms in an optical lattice in free space, coupling schemes based on high-finesse optical cavities, and …
We present a system composed of two flux qubits and a transmission-line resonator. Instead of using the rotating wave approximation (RWA), we analyse the system by the adiabatical approximation methods under two opposite extreme conditions. Basic properties of the system are calculated and compared under these two different conditions. Energy-level spectrum of the system in the adiabatical displaced oscillator basis is shown, and the theoretical result is compared with the numerical solution.
Engineering nano-mechanical quantum systems possessing ultra-long motional coherence times allow for applications in ultra-sensitive quantum sensing, motional quantum memories and motional interfaces between other carriers of quantum information such as photons, quantum dots and superconducting systems. To achieve ultra-high motional Q one must work hard to remove all forms of motional noise and heating. We examine a magneto-nanomechanical quantum system that consists of a 3D arrangement of miniature superconducting loops which is stably levitated in a static inhomogenous magnetic field. The r…
Levitated nano-oscillators are seen as promising platforms for testing fundamental physics and testing quantum mechanics in a new high mass regime. Levitation allows extreme isolation from the environment, reducing the decoherence processes that are crucial for these sensitive experiments. A fundamental property of any oscillator is its line width and mechanical quality factor, Q. Narrow line widths in the microHertz regime and mechanical Q's as high as $10^{12}$ have been predicted for levitated systems, but to date, the poor stability of these oscillators over long periods have prevented dir…
We investigate the strong coupling regime of a linear $x$-$x$ coupled harmonic oscillator system, by performing a direct diagonalization of the hamiltonian. It is shown that the $x$-$x$ coupled hamiltonian can be equivalently described by a Mach-Zehnder-type interferometer with a quadratic unitary operation in each of its arms. We show a sharp transition of the unitary operation from an elliptical phase rotator to an elliptical squeezer as the coupling gets stronger, which leads to the continuous generation of entanglement, even for a significantly thermal state, in the ultra-strong coupled re…
This work aims to provide an alternative approach to modeling a two-state system (qubit) coupled to a nonlinear oscillator. Within a single algebraic scheme based upon the f-deformed oscillator description, hard and soft nonlinearities are proposed to be simulated by making use of fitting algebraic models extracted from the trigonometric and modified Pöschl-Teller potentials, respectively. In the regime where the strength of the coupling is considered to be moderate, this approach allows for an analytic, albeit approximate, diagonalization process of the proposed Hamiltonian through using the …
Environmental influences on the dynamics of a coupled qubit-oscillator system are studied analytically. We investigate the case of a quasi-degenerate qubit within the ultra-strong coupling regime for which the qubit frequency is much smaller than the frequency of the oscillator, and the coupling between the qubit and the oscillator is large, both of which invalidate the usually employed rotating wave approximation. In contrast to the standard quantum optics master equation, we explicitly take the qubit-oscillator coupling into account while microscopically deriving a dressed state master equat…
In our previous paper, we have investigated the thermodynamics of the quantum ultra-cold neutron gas trapped in the two-dimensional square-well potential on the Earth's gravitational field. We have pointed out that they have strong dependence on the shape of the trapping potential. In the present paper, we estimate the Fermi energy and the density distribution of the Fermi gas with two-dimensional harmonic oscillator potential, instead of the square-well potential. Then we discuss them in terms of the Fermi energy and the density distribution as compared with both of cases.
We study the dynamics of a mechanical resonator parametrically coupled to a driven dissipative quantum emitter in the ultra-strong coupling regime. We show that this regime is fully compatible with a semi-classical treatment, and we derive master equations for the emitter and the resonator. We show that the fluctuations of the driven emitter's population induce the non-symmetrical scattering of the mechanical quadratures. At long timescales, such scattering back-acts on the emitter, which eventually decouples from the driving light. This optical noise at the quantum limit is observable with st…
The interaction between an atom and the electromagnetic field inside a cavity has played a crucial role in the historical development of our understanding of light-matter interaction and is a central part of various quantum technologies, such as lasers and many quantum computing architectures. The emergence of superconducting qubits has allowed the realization of strong and ultrastrong coupling between artificial atoms and cavities. If the coupling strength $g$ becomes as large as the atomic and cavity frequencies ($Δ$ and $ω_{\rm o}$ respectively), the energy eigenstates including the ground …
A promising route to novel quantum technologies are hybrid quantum systems, which combine the advantages of several individual quantum systems. We have realized a hybrid atomic-mechanical experiment consisting of a SiN membrane oscillator cryogenically precooled to 500 mK and optically coupled to a cloud of laser cooled Rb atoms. Here, we demonstrate active feedback cooling of the oscillator to a minimum mode occupation of n = 16 corresponding to a mode temperature of T = 200 μK. Furthermore, we characterize in detail the coupling of the membrane to the atoms by means of sympathetic cooling. B…
Preparing and manipulating quantum states of mechanical resonators is a highly interdisciplinary undertaking that now receives enormous interest for its far-reaching potential in fundamental and applied science. Up to now, only nanoscale mechanical devices achieved operation close to the quantum regime. We report a new micro-optomechanical resonator that is laser cooled to a level of 30 thermal quanta. This is equivalent to the best nanomechanical devices, however, with a mass more than four orders of magnitude larger (43 ng versus 1 pg) and at more than two orders of magnitude higher environm…
Generating non-classical states of light by opto-mechanical coupling depends critically on the mechanical and optical properties of micro-oscillators and on the minimization of thermal noise. We present an oscillating micro-mirror with a mechanical quality factor Q = 2.6x10^6 at cryogenic temperature and a Finesse of 65000, obtained thanks to an innovative approach to the design and the control of mechanical dissipation. Already at 4 K with an input laser power of 2 mW, the radiation-pressure quantum fluctuations become the main noise source, overcoming thermal noise. This feature makes our de…
We propose a quantum simulation of a two-level atom coupled to a single mode of the electromagnetic field in the ultrastrong-coupling regime based upon resonant Raman transitions in an atom interacting with a high finesse optical cavity mode. We show by numerical simulation the possibility of realizing the scheme with a single rubidium atom, in which two hyperfine ground states make up the effective two-level system, and for cavity QED parameters that should be achievable with, for example, microtoroidal whispering-gallery-mode resonators. Our system also enables simulation of a generalized mo…
Rapid advances are being made toward optically cooling a single mode of a micro-mechanical system to its quantum ground state and observing quantum behavior at macroscopic scales. Reaching this regime in room-temperature environments requires a stringent condition on the mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ and frequency $f_m$, $Q_{m}f_{m}{\gtrsim}k_{B}T_{bath}/h$, which so far has been marginally satisfied only in a small number of systems. Here we propose and analyze a new class of systems that should enable unprecedented $Q_{m}f_m$ values. The technique is based upon using optical forces to "tra…
We study a bosonic matter excitation coupled to a single-mode cavity field via electric dipole. Counter-rotating and $A^2$ terms are included in the interaction model, ${\mathbf A}$ being the vector potential of the cavity field. In the ultrastrong coupling regime the vacuum of the bare modes is no longer the ground state of the Hamiltonian and contains a nonzero population of polaritons, the true normal modes of the system. If the parameters of the model satisfy the Thomas-Reiche-Kuhn sum rule, we find that the two polaritons are always equally populated. We show how this prediction could be …
We explore the possibility of the controlled manipulation of the entanglement of two qubits with an external apparatus, the Rabi Hamiltonian. The novel results show that the initially entangled two qubits could have very high probability to stay unchanged by the coherent state of the photon with chosen parameters. If the inter-qubit coupling strength is negative, their entanglement could be kept for a much longer time by a relatively strong external quantum control with the suitable and novel choice of some parameters. Furthermore, their entanglement will not show any sudden death and revival.…
We study the time evolution for the quantum harmonic oscillator subjected to a sudden change of frequency. It is based on an approximate analytic solution to the time dependent Ermakov equation for a step function. This approach allows for a continuous treatment that differs from former studies that involve the matching of two time independent solutions at the time when the step occurs.
We present a fully quantum mechanical treatment of the nondegenerate optical parametric oscillator both below and near threshold. This is a non-equilibrium quantum system with a critical point phase-transition, that is also known to exhibit strong yet easily observed squeezing and quantum entanglement. Our treatment makes use of the positive P-representation and goes beyond the usual linearized theory. We compare our analytical results with numerical simulations and find excellent agreement. We also carry out a detailed comparison of our results with those obtained from stochastic electrodynam…
We present a multimode treatment of the optical parametric oscillator, which is valid for both pulsed and continuous-wave pump fields. The two-time correlation functions of the output field are derived, and we apply the theory to analyze a scheme for heralded production of non-classical field states that may be subsequently stored in an atomic quantum memory.
We calculate the transmission spectra of a flux qubit coupled to a dissipative resonator in the ultrastrong coupling regime. Such a qubit-oscillator system constitutes the building block of superconducting circuit QED platforms. The calculated transmission of a weak probe field quantifies the response of the qubit, in frequency domain, under the sole influence of the oscillator and of its dissipative environment, an Ohmic heat bath. We find the distinctive features of the qubit-resonator system, namely two-dip structures in the calculated transmission, modified by the presence of the dissipati…
The dynamics of the next quantum jump for a qubit [two level system] coupled to a readout resonator [damped driven harmonic oscillator] is calculated. A quantum mechanical treatment of readout resonator reveals non exponential short time behavior which could facilitate detection of the state of the qubit faster than the resonator lifetime.
The semiclassical treatment of the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator provides an instructive example of the relation between classical motion and the quantum mechanical energy spectrum. We extend previous work on the anisotropic oscillator with incommensurate frequencies and the isotropic oscillator to the case with commensurate frequencies for which the Lissajous curves appear as classical periodic orbits. Because of the three different scenarios depending on the ratio of its frequencies, the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator offers a unique way to explicitly analyze the role of symmetrie…
The explicit semiclassical treatment of the logarithmic perturbation theory for the bound-state problem for the spherical anharmonic oscillator is developed. Based upon the $\hbar$-expansions and suitable quantization conditions a new procedure for deriving perturbation expansions is offered. Avoiding disadvantages of the standard approach, new handy recursion formulae with the same simple form both for ground and excited states have been obtained. As an example, the perturbation expansions for the energy eigenvalues of the quartic anharmonic oscillator are considered.
We apply a proposal of Yuen and Tombesi, for treating stochastic problems with negative diffusion, to the analytically soluble problem of the single-mode anharmonic oscillator. We find that the associated stochastic realizations include divergent trajectories. It is possible, however, to solve the stochastic problem exactly, but the averaging must be performed with great care.
The quantum features of ultrashort-pulse optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) are investigated theoretically in the nonlinear regime near and above threshold. Viewing the pulsed OPO as a multimode open quantum system, we rigorously derive a general input-output model that features nonlinear coupling among many cavity (i.e., system) signal modes and a broadband single-pass (i.e., reservoir) pump field. Under appropriate assumptions, our model produces a Lindblad master equation with multimode nonlinear Lindblad operators describing two-photon dissipation and a multimode four-wave-mixing Hamilt…
We present a theoretical treatment of conditional preparation of one-photon states from a continuous-wave non-degenerate optical parametric oscillator. We obtain an analytical expression for the output state Wigner function, and we maximize the one-photon state fidelity by varying the temporal mode function of the output state. We show that a higher production rate of high fidelity Fock states is obtained if we condition the outcome on dark intervals around trigger photo detection events.
The problem of the quantum harmonic oscillator is investigated in the framework of bicomplex numbers, which are pairs of complex numbers making up a commutative ring with zero divisors. Starting with the commutator of the bicomplex position and momentum operators, and adapting the algebraic treatment of the standard quantum harmonic oscillator, we find eigenvalues and eigenkets of the bicomplex harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian. We construct an infinite-dimensional bicomplex module from these eigenkets. Turning next to the differential equation approach, we obtain coordinate-basis eigenfunctions…
We propose a new treatment for the quantum three-body problem. It is based on an expansion of the wave function on harmonic oscillator functions with different sizes in the Jacobi coordinates. The matrix elements of the Hamiltonian can be calculated without any approximation and the precision is restricted only by the dimension of the basis. This method can be applied whatever the system under consideration. In some cases, the convergence property is greatly improved in this new scheme as compared to the old traditional method. Some numerical tricks to reduce computer time are also presented.
