In a recent paper, which has been published in Nature, the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC) obtained an upper limit on the stochastic gravitational-wave background of cosmological origin by using the data from a two-year science run of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational- wave Observatory (LIGO). Such an upper limit rules out some models of early Universe evolution, like the ones with relatively large equation-of-state parameter and the cosmic (super) string models with relatively small string tension arising from some String Theory's models. It results also an upper limit for the relic stochastic background of gravitational waves (RSBGWs) which is proposed by the Pre-Big-Bang Theory. On the other hand, the upper bound on the RSBGWs which is proposed by the Standard Inflationary Model is well known and often updated by using the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP). The potential detection of such a RSBGWs is the only way to learn about the evolution of the very early universe, up to the bounds of the Planck epoch and the initial singularity. This is a kind of information that is inaccessible to standard astrophysical observations. By using a conformal treatment, a formula that directly connects the average amplitude of the RSBGWs with the Inflaton field has been re- cently obtained in our paper Gen. Rel. Grav. 42, 5, 1323-1333 (2010). In this proceeding, by joining this formula with the equation for the characteristic amplitude hC for the RSBGWs, the upper bounds on the RSBGWs from the WMAP and LSC data will be translated in lower bounds on the Inflaton field. The results show that the value of the Inflaton field that arises from the WMAP bound on the RSBGWs is totally in agreement with the famous slow roll condition on Inflation, while the value of the Inflaton field that arises from the LSC bound on the RSBGWs could be not in agreement with such a condition.
In this work, we study the $f(R)$ models of inflation in the context of gravity's rainbow theory. We choose three types of $f(R)$ models: $f(R)=R+α(R/M)^{n},\,f(R)=R+αR^{2}+βR^{2}\log(R/M^{2})$ and the Einstein-Hu-Sawicki model with $n,\,α,\,β$ being arbitrary real constants. Here $R$ and $M$ are the Ricci scalar and mass scale, respectively. For all models, the rainbow function is written in the power-law form of the Hubble parameter. We present a detailed derivation of the spectral index of curvature perturbation and the tensor-to-scalar ratio and compare the predictions of our results with …
We compute the spectral index of primordial perturbations in a rainbow universe. We allow the Newton constant $G$ to run at (super-)Planckian energies and we consider both vacuum and thermal perturbations. If the rainbow metric is the one associated to a generalized Horava-Lifshitz dispersion relation, we find that only when $G$ tends asymptotically to zero can one match the observed value of the spectral index and solve the horizon problem, both for vacuum and thermal perturbations. For vacuum fluctuations the observational constraints imply that the primordial universe expansion can be both …
We study slow-roll inflation and the generation of primordial fluctuations in $F(T)$ gravity's rainbow. We obtain the second order action for scalar and tensor perturbations and then calculate the primordial power spectrum for them. Thus, after calculating the inflationary observables up to first order in slow-roll approximation, namely the scalar spectral index $n_{s}$ and the tensor-to scalar ratio $r$, we confront the predictions of the model with the current PLANCK and BICEP/Keck data.
We study aspects of quantum cosmology in the presence of a modified space-time geometry. In particular, within the context of Gravity's Rainbow modified geometry, motivated from quantum gravity corrections at the Planck energy scale, we show that the distortion of the metric leads to a Wheeler-De Witt equation whose solution admits outgoing plane waves. Hence, a period of cosmological inflation may arise without the need for introducing an inflaton field.
It is possible to dualize theories based on deformed dispersion relations and Einstein gravity so as to map them into theories with trivial dispersion relations and rainbow gravity. This often leads to "dual inflation" without the usual breaking of the strong energy condition. We identify the dispersion relations in the original frame which map into "intermediate" inflationary models. These turn out to be particularly simple: power-laws modulated by powers of a logarithm. The fluctuations predicted by these scenarios are near, but not exactly scale-invariant, with a red running spectral index.…
In this work we determine the power spectrum of the gravitational potential of the primordial fluctuations for an inflationary model whose \emph{inflaton} is a non-canonical scalar field of the tachyon-type. The respective background field equations for an inverse-square potential produce a power-law inflation, and it is explicitly shown that for such a potential the power spectrum tends to be scale-independent for highly accelerated regimes in the inflationary expansion.
We investigate the origin and evolution of primordial electric and magnetic fields in the early universe, when the expansion is governed by a cosmological constant $Λ_0$. Using the gravitoelectromagnetic inflationary formalism with $A_0=0$, we obtain the power of spectrums for large-scale magnetic fields and the inflaton field fluctuations during inflation. A very important fact is that our formalism is {\em naturally non-conformally invariant}.
I consider a semiclassical expansion of the scalar field in the warm inflation scenario. I study the evolution for the fluctuations of the metric around the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker one. The formalism predicts that, in the power-law expansion universe, the fluctuations of the metric decreases with time.
The gravitationally enhanced friction can reduce the speed of the inflaton to realize an ultra-slow-roll inflation, which will amplify the curvature perturbations. The amplified perturbations can generate a sizable amount of primordial black holes (PBHs) and induce simultaneously a significant background gravitational waves (SIGWs). In this paper, we investigate the primordial non-Gaussianity of the curvature perturbations in the inflation with gravitationally enhanced friction. We find that when the gravitationally enhanced friction plays a role in the inflationary dynamics, the non-Gaussiani…
The basic motivation of this work is to attempt to explain the rapid primordial inflation and the observed slow late-time inflation by using the Brans-Dicke theory of gravity. We show that the ratio of these two inflation parameters is proportional to the square root of the Brans-Dicke parameter $% ω$ $(ω\gg1) $. We also calculate the Hubble parameter $% H$ and the time variation of the time dependent Newtonian gravitational constant $G$ for both regimes. The variation of the Hubble parameter predicted by Brans-Dicke cosmology is shown to be consistent with recent measurements: The value of $H…
Chaotic inflation is inconsistent with the observational constraint at 68\% CL. Here, we show that the enhancement mechanism with a peak function in the noncanonical kinetic term not only helps the chaotic model $V(ϕ)=V_0ϕ^{1/3}$ satisfy the observational constraint at large scales but also enhances the primordial scalar power spectrum by seven orders of magnitude at small scales. The enhanced curvature perturbations can produce primordial black holes of different masses and secondary gravitational waves with different peak frequencies. We also show that the non-Gaussianities of curvature pert…
We study the bispectrum of the primordial curvature perturbation on uniform-density hypersurfaces generated by a kind of the noncanonical warm inflation, wherein the inflation is provided by a noncanonical scalar inflaton field that is coupled to radiation through a thermal dissipation effect. We obtain an analytic form for the nonlinear parameter $f_{NL}$ that describes the non-Gaussianity in first-order cosmological perturbation theory and analyse the magnitude of this nonlinear parameter. We make a comparison between our result and those of the standard inflation and the canonical warm infl…
Four classes of exact solutions of Einstein-Cartan dilatonic inflationary de Sitter cosmology are given. The first is obtained from the equation of state of massless dilaton instead of an unpolarized fermion fluid used previously by Gasperini.Repulsive gravity is found in the case where dilatons are constraint by the presence of spin-torsion effects. The second and third solutions represent respectively massive dilatons in the radiation era with the massive potential and torsion kinks and finally the dust of spinning particles.Primordial spin-density fluctuations are also computed based on Primo…
Arbitrary generalization to the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity loses local Lorentz invariance to reparametrize the orthonormal coordinate system and gives rise to asymmetry field equations. We investigate consequences of local Lorentz violation to primordial fluctuations in extended single field inflationary models based on the scalar-tensor formulation of the torsion scalar $T$ that effectively includes $f(T)$ gravity as a special case. We show that despite some asymmetry part of the field equations are removed in a spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmic background, no subh…
Inflation is considered one of the cornerstones of modern cosmology. However, the account of the origin of cosmic structure, as provided by the standard inflationary paradigm, is not fully satisfactory. The fundamental issue is the inability of the usual account to point out the physical mechanism responsible for generating the inhomogeneity and anisotropy of our Universe, starting from the exactly homogeneous and isotropic vacuum state associated with the early inflationary regime. We briefly review this issue here together with the proposal to address this shortcoming in terms of a dynamical…
We re-examine a recently proposed scenario where the deformed dispersion relations associated with a flow of the spectral dimension to a UV value of 2 leads to a scale-invariant spectrum of cosmological fluctuations, without the need for inflation. In that scenario Einstein gravity was assumed. The theory displays a wavelength-dependent speed of light but by transforming to a suitable "rainbow frame" this feature can be removed, at the expense of modifying gravity. We find that the ensuing rainbow gravity theory is such that gravity switches off at high energy (or at least leads to a universal…
In this paper, we study the Starobinsky model of inflation in the context of gravity's rainbow theory. We propose that gravity rainbow functions can be written in the power-law form of the Hubble parameter. We present a detailed derivation of the spectral index of curvature perturbation and the tensor-to-scalar ratio and compare the predictions of our models with Planck 2015 data. We discover that in order to be consistent with Planck data up to $2σ$ C.L., the viable values of $N_{k}$ $e$-folds would satisfy $42\lesssim N_{k}\lesssim 87$ and the rainbow parameter $λ$ is nicely constrained to b…
It is shown that in a number of scalar potentials with an unstable local maximum at the origin chaotic inflation is followed by new inflation if model parameters are appropriately chosen. In this model density fluctuation can have a large-amplitude peak on the comoving Hubble scale at the onset of the slow-roll new inflation and can result in formation of appreciable amount of primordial black holes on astrophysically interesting mass scales.
We propose a new single field inflation model in which the usual slow-roll inflation is joined to a new period of slow-climb and slow-roll inflation through a short intermediate non-inflationary phase. We then show that primordial curvature perturbations can be enhanced at small scales, a sizable amount of primordial black holes (PBHs) can be produced which make up most of dark matter, the gravitational waves (GWs) induced by scalar metric perturbations that accompany with the formation of PBHs can be detectable by future GW experiments, and last but not least, our model is compatible with the…
Enormous information about interactions is contained in the non-Gaussianities of the primordial curvature perturbations, which are essential to break the degeneracy of inflationary models. We study the primordial bispectra for G-inflation models predicting both sharp and broad peaks in the primordial scalar power spectrum. We calculate the non-Gaussianity parameter $f_{\mathrm{NL}}$ in the equilateral limit and squeezed limit numerically, and confirm that the consistency relation holds in these models. Even though $f_{\mathrm{NL}}$ becomes large at the scales before the power spectrum reaches …
There are at least three cosmic backgrounds of primordial gravitational waves coming from inflation: those produced during inflation and associated with the stretching of quantum modes; those produced at the violent stage of preheating after inflation; and those associated with the self-ordering of Goldstone modes if inflation ends via a global symmetry breaking scenario, like in hybrid inflation. Each background has its own characteristic spectrum with specific features. We describe in detail the origin of extra peaks in the PGW background from preheating in the case in which inflation ends w…
Certain models of cosmic inflation produce strong cosmological perturbations at short length scales, which may later collapse into primordial black holes. To find the statistics of these strong perturbations and the ensuing black holes, it is necessary to go beyond linear perturbation theory. Stochastic inflation provides a way to take the leading non-linear effects into account. In this contribution, I discuss recent progress in numerical computations of stochastic inflation. A numerical approach can include more of the non-linearities than an analytical calculation, and can be applied to sin…
The observational data of primordial black holes and scalar-induced gravitational waves can constrain the primordial curvature perturbation at small scales. We parameterize the primordial curvature perturbation by a broken power law form and find that it is consistent with many inflation models that can produce primordial black holes, such as nonminimal derivative coupling inflation, scalar-tensor inflation, Gauss-Bonnet inflation, and K/G inflation. The constraints from primordial black holes on the primordial curvature power spectrum with the broken power law form are obtained, where the fra…
We propose the gravity's rainbow scenario as a possible alternative of the inflation paradigm to account for the flatness and horizon problems. We focus on studying the cosmological scalar perturbations which are seeded by the quantum fluctuations in the very early universe. The scalar power spectrum is expected to be nearly scale-invariant. We estimate the rainbow index $λ$ and energy scale $M$ in the gravity's rainbow scenario by analyzing the Planck temperature and WMAP polarization datasets. The constraints on them are given by $λ=2.933\pm0.012$ and $\ln (10^5M/M_p)= -0.401^{+0.457}_{-0.45…
We investigate the primordial power spectra for general kinetic inflation models that support a period of kinetic dominance in the case of curved universes. We present derivations of the Mukhanov-Sasaki equations with a nonstandard scalar kinetic Lagrangian which manifests itself through the inflationary sound speed $c_s^2$. We extend the analytical approximations exploited in Contaldi et al [1] and Thavanesan et al [2] to general kinetic Lagrangians and show the effect of $k$-inflation on the primordial power spectra for models with curvature. In particular, the interplay between sound speed …
We study the emission of neutral massless $(1, 2)\hbar$-spin bosons during power-law inflation using unified spinor field theory. We shows that during inflation gravitons and photons were emitted with wavelengths (on physical coordinates) that increase as the Hubble radius: $λ_{Ph} \sim a/H$. The quantised action related to these bosons is calculated and results to be a fraction of the Planck constant.
Depending on various assumptions on the energy scale of inflation and assuming a primordial power spectrum of a Broken Scale Invariance (BSI) type, we explore the possibility for Primordial Black Holes (PBH) and Planck relics to contribute substantially to cold dark matter in the Universe. A recently proposed possibility to produce planck relics in 4-dimensional string gravity is considered. Possible experimental detection through gravitational waves is further explored. We stress that inflation with a low energy scale, and also possibly when Planck relics are produced, leads unavoidably to re…
A macroscopic universe may emerge naturally from a Planck cell fluctuation by unfolding through a stage of exponential expansion towards a homogeneous cosmological background. Such primordial inflation requires a large and presumably infinite degeneracy at the Planck scale, rooted in the unbounded negative gravitational energy stored in conformal classes. This complex Planck structure is consistent with a quantum tunneling description of the transition from the Planck scale to the inflationary era and implies, in the limit of vanishing Planck size, the Hartle-Hawking no-time boundary condition…
The large-scale power deficit in the cosmic microwave background fluctuations might be relevant with the physics of pre-inflation, a bounce, or a superinflationary phase preceding slow-roll inflation, which can provide a singular-free realization of inflation. We investigate the primordial perturbations from such pre-inflationary evolutions, which generally may consist of multiple phases with different background dynamics, and give a universal formula for the power spectrum of primordial perturbations in terms of the recursive Bogoliubov coefficients. We also apply our formula to corresponding…
We study a double inflation model (a hybrid inflation + a new inflation) in supergravity and discuss the formation of primordial black holes (PBHs) with mass \sim 10^{-20}-10^{5}M_{\odot}. We find that in a wide range of parameter space, we obtain PBHs which amount to Ω\simeq 1, i.e., PBH dark matter. Also, we find a set of inflation parameters which produces PBHs evaporating now. Those PBHs may be responsible for antiproton fluxes observed by the BESS experiment.
The large enhancement of the primordial power spectrum of the curvature perturbation can seed the formation of primordial black hole, that can play as a dark matter component in the Universe. In multi-filed inflation models, the curved trajectory of the scalar fields in the field space can generate a peak in the power spectrum on small scales due to the existence of the isocurvature perturbation. Here we show that a potential can be reconstructed from a given power spectrum, which is made of a scale-invariant one on large scales and the other function with a peak on small scales. In multi-fiel…
In the framework of the single-field slow-roll inflation, we derive the Hamiltonian of the linear primordial scalar and tensor perturbations in the form of time-dependent harmonic oscillator Hamiltonians. We find the invariant operators of the resulting Hamiltonians and use their eigenstates to calculate the adiabatic Berry phase for sub-horizon modes in terms of the Lewis-Riesenfeld phase. We conclude by discussing the discrepancy in the results of Pal et. al [Class. Quant. Grav. 30 (2013) 12] for these Berry phases, which is resolved to yield agreement with our results.
We consider the space-condensate inflation model to study the primordial gravitational waves generated in the early Universe. We calculate the energy spectrum of gravitational waves induced by the space-condensate inflation model for full frequency range with assumption that the phase transition between two consecutive regimes to be abrupt during evolution of the Universe. The suppression of energy spectrum is found in our model for the decreasing frequency of gravitational waves depending on the model parameter. To realize the suppression of energy spectrum of the primordial gravitational wav…
We argue that primordial gravitational waves have a spectral break and its information is quite useful for exploring the early universe. Indeed, such a spectral break can be a fingerprint of the end of inflation, and the amplitude and the frequency at the break can tell us the energy scale of inflation and the reheating temperature simultaneously. In order to investigate the spectral break, we give an analytic formula for evolution of the Hubble parameter around the end of inflation where the slow roll approximation breaks down. We also evaluate the spectrum of primordial gravitational waves a…
We study primordial gravitational waves from inflation in Randall-Sundrum braneworld model. The effect of small change of the Hubble parameter during inflation is investigated using a toy model given by connecting two de Sitter branes. We analyze the power spectrum of final zero-mode gravitons, which is generated from the vacuum fluctuations of both initial Kaluza-Klein modes and zero-mode. The amplitude of fluctuations is confirmed to agree with the four-dimensional one at low energies, whereas it is enhanced due to the normalization factor of zero-mode at high energies. We show that the five…
In numerical calculations of the primordial power spectrum of perturbations produced during inflation, for very little wavenumber $k$s, to implement the initial conditions required of the perturbation mode functions consistently, we must let the universe experience more e-foldings of inflation than that required of it to solve the horizon, flatness and other pre-inflation problems. However, if the number of e-foldings of inflation has an upper bound, then for perturbations at scales greater than some critical value, the initial conditions required of the mode functions cannot be implemented ph…
We propose an explanation for the present accelerated expansion of the universe that does not invoke dark energy or a modification of gravity and is firmly rooted in inflationary cosmology.
Working in an idealised framework in which a series of phases of evolution defined by the second slow-roll parameter $η$ are matched together, we calculate the reduced bispectrum, $f_{\rm NL}$, for models of inflation with a large peak in their primordial power spectra. We find $f_{\rm NL}$ is typically approximately constant over scales at which the peak is located, and provide an analytic approximation for this value. This allows us to identify the conditions under which $f_{\rm NL}$ is large enough to have a significant impact on the resulting production of primordial black holes (PBHs) and…
We propose a novel enhancement mechanism of the curvature perturbations in the nonminimal derivative coupling inflation model with a coupling parameter related to the inflaton field. By considering a special form of the coupling parameter as a function of the inflaton, a period of ultra-slow-roll inflation can be realized due to the gravitationally enhanced friction, and the resulting power spectrum of the curvature perturbations has a sharp peak, which is large enough to produce the primordial black holes. Under this mechanism, we can easily obtain a sharp mass spectrum of primordial black ho…
We investigate the production of primordial black holes and their contribution to the presently observed dark matter in a dilaton two-field extension of Starobinsky's quadratic $f(R)$ model of inflation. The model features a multi-field amplification mechanism which leads to the generation of a sharp peak in the inflationary power spectrum at small wavelengths responsible for the production of primordial black holes. This mechanism is significantly different from single-field models and requires a stochastic treatment during an intermediate phase of the inflationary dynamics. We find that the …
In this article we provide a new closed relationship between cosmic abundance of primordial gravitational waves and primordial blackholes originated from initial inflationary perturbations for inflection-point models of inflation where inflation occurs below the Planck scale. The current Planck constraint on tensor-to-scalar ratio, running of the spectral tilt, and from the abundance of dark matter content in the universe, we can deduce a strict bound on the current abundance of primordial blackholes to be within a range, $9.99712\times 10^{-3}<Ω_{PBH}h^{2}<9.99736\times 10^{-3}$.
We propose an extension of the scalaron-Higgs model by a non-minimal coupling of the Standard Model Higgs boson to the quadratic Ricci scalar resulting in a Higgs-dependent scalaron mass. The model predicts a successful stage of effective single-field Starobinsky inflation. It features a multi-field amplification mechanism leading to a peak in the inflationary power spectrum at small wavelengths which enhances the production of primordial black holes. The extended scalaron-Higgs model unifies inflationary cosmology with elementary particle physics and explains the origin of cold dark matter in…
We show a text-book potential for single-field inflation, namely, the Coleman-Weinberg model can induce double inflation and formation of primordial black holes (PBHs), because fluctuations that leave the horizon near the end of first inflation are anomalously enhanced at the onset of second inflation when the time-dependent mode turns to a growing mode rather than a decaying mode. The mass of PBHs produced in this mechanism lies in several discrete ranges depending on the model parameters. We also calculate the effects of non-Gaussian statistics due to higher-order interactions on the abundan…
Primordial black holes as dark matter may be generated in single-field models of inflation thanks to the enhancement at small scales of the comoving curvature perturbation. This mechanism requires leaving the slow-roll phase to enter a non-attractor phase during which the inflaton travels across a plateau and its velocity drops down exponentially. We argue that quantum diffusion has a significant impact on the primordial black hole mass fraction making the classical standard prediction not trustable.
The dS bubbles can nucleate spontaneously during inflation, and will be stretched by the cosmological expansion to astrophysical scale. We report on a novel phenomenon that such a bubble might develop into a gravastar (an ultra-compact object with a dS core) after inflation, which witnessed the occurrence of inflation and would survive till today. It is pointed out that if a primordial gravastar was involved in one of the LIGO/Virgo gravitational wave (GW) events, the post-merger object could be a gravastar that will eventually collapse into a black hole. As a result, the late-time GW ringdown…
Models of inflationary cosmology admit a choice of the metric for which the geometry of homogeneous isotropic solutions becomes flat Minkowski space in the infinite past. In this primordial flat frame all mass scales vanish in the infinite past and quantum scale symmetry is realized. The cosmological evolution is dominantly described by the slow increase of a scalar field which sets the scale of all masses. We construct the primordial flat frame for standard models of inflation as Starobinsky inflation or chaotic inflation. In particular, we discuss the evolution of inhomogeneous solutions in …
We compute the full bispectra, namely both auto- and cross- bispectra, of primordial curvature and tensor perturbations in the most general single-field inflation model whose scalar and gravitational equations of motion are of second order. The formulae in the limits of k-inflation and potential-driven inflation are also given. These expressions are useful for estimating the full bispectra of temperature and polarization anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background radiation.
We show that current cosmic acceleration can be explained by an almost massless scalar field experiencing quantum fluctuations during primordial inflation. Provided its mass does not exceed the Hubble parameter today, this field has been frozen during the cosmological ages to start dominating the universe only recently. By using supernovae data, completed with baryonic acoustic oscillations from galaxy surveys and cosmic microwave background anisotropies, we infer the energy scale of primordial inflation to be around a few TeV, which implies a negligible tensor-to-scalar ratio of the primordia…
We introduce inflationary models where the inflaton features a field dependent non-minimal derivative coupling to the Einstein tensor, that we name GNMDC. This Horndeski term gives new and distinguishable inflationary predictions in a framework that ameliorates possible problems related with gradient instabilities during the reheating stage. We examine the inflationary phenomenology using power law monomial and exponential potentials. We further elaborate on the implications of the inflaton-modulated GNMDC and construct GNMDC terms that can amplify the power spectrum of primordial perturbation…
