On cubic hypersurfaces with vanishing hessian

If $X = V(f) \subset \mathbb P^N$ is a reduced complex hypersurface, the hessian of $f$ (or by abusing the terminology the hessian of $X$) is the determinant of the matrix of the second derivatives of the form $f$, that is the determinant of the hessian matrix of $f$. Hypersurfaces with vanishing hessian were studied systematically for the first time in the fundamental paper [GN], where Gordan and M. Betti Tables of MCM Modules Over the Cone of a Plane Cubic

We show that for maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over a homogeneous coordinate rings of smooth Calabi-Yau varieties $X$ computation of Betti numbers can be reduced to computations of dimensions of certain $\operatorname{Hom}$ groups in the bounded derived category $D^b(X)$. In the simplest case of a smooth elliptic curve $E$ imbedded into $\mathbb{P}^2$ as a smooth cubic we use our formula to get explicit answers for Betti numbers. The Schläfli Fan

Smooth tropical cubic surfaces are parametrized by maximal cones in the unimodular secondary fan of the triple tetrahedron. There are $344\, 843 \,867$ such cones, organized into a database of $14\,373\,645$ symmetry classes. The Schläfli fan gives a further refinement of these cones. It reveals all possible patterns of lines on tropical cubic surfaces, thus serving as a combinatorial base space for the universal Fano variety. This article develops the relevant theory and offers a blueprint for the analysis of big data in tropical geometry.

Betti numbers of MCM modules over the cone of an elliptic normal curve

We apply Orlov's equivalence to derive formulas for the Betti numbers of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over the cone an elliptic curve $(E,x)$ embedded into $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$, by the full linear system $|\mathcal{O}(nx)|$, for $n>3$. The answers are given in terms of recursive sequences. These results are applied to give a criterion of (Co-)Koszulity. In the last two sections of the paper we apply our methods to study the cases $n=1,2$. Geometrically these cases correspond to the embedding of an elliptic curve into a weighted projective space. Nef cycles on some hyperkahler fourfolds

We study the cones of surfaces on varieties of lines on cubic fourfolds and Hilbert schemes of points on K3 surfaces. From this we obtain new examples of nef cycles which fail to be pseudoeffective.
