All generalized Hadamard matrices of order 18 over a group of order 3, H(6,3), are enumerated in two different ways: once, as class regular symmetric (6,3)-nets, or symmetric transversal designs on 54 points and 54 blocks with a group of order 3 acting semi-regularly on points and blocks, and secondly, as collections of full weight vectors in quaternary Hermitian self-dual codes of length 18. The second enumeration is based on the classification of Hermitian self-dual [18,9] codes over GF(4), completed in this paper. It is shown that up to monomial equivalence, there are 85 generalized Hadamard matrices H(6,3), and 245 inequivalent Hermitian self-dual codes of length 18 over GF(4).
A complete classification of quaternary complex Hadamard matrices of orders 10, 12 and 14 is given, and a new parametrization scheme for obtaining new examples of affine parametric families of complex Hadamard matrices is provided. On the one hand, it is proven that all 10x10 and 12x12 quaternary complex Hadamard matrices belong to some parametric family, but on the other hand, it is shown by exhibiting an isolated 14x14 matrix that there cannot be a general method for introducing parameters into these types of matrices.
We introduce a class of regular unit Hadamard matrices whose entries consist of two complex numbers and their conjugates for a total of four complex numbers. We then show that these matrices are contained in the Bose-Mesner algebra of an association scheme arising from skew Paley matrices.
One of the main goals of design theory is to classify, characterize and count various combinatorial objects with some prescribed properties. In most cases, however, one quickly encounters a combinatorial explosion and even if the complete enumeration of the objects is possible, there is no apparent way how to study them in details, store them efficiently, or generate a particular one rapidly. In this paper we propose a novel method to deal with these difficulties, and illustrate it by presenting the classification of quaternary complex Hadamard matrices up to order 8. The obtained matrices are…
Let $n$ be the order of a (quaternary) Hadamard matrix. It is shown that the existence of a projective plane of order $n$ is equivalent to the existence of a balancedly multi-splittable (quaternary) Hadamard matrix of order $n^2$.
We introduce quaternary Legendre pairs of length $\ell$. In contrast to binary Legendre pairs they can exist for even $\ell$ as well. First we show that they are pertinent to the construction of quaternary Hadamard matrices of order $2\ell+2$ and thus of binary Hadamard matrices of order $4\ell+4$. Then for a prime $p>2$ we present a construction of a pair of sequences of length $p$ from which we can derive quaternary Legendre pairs of length $\ell=2p$ by decompression for $p=3,5,7,13,19,31,41$. Moreover, we give also constructions of Legendre pairs of length $\ell$ for all remaining even $\el…
We propose a method for a classification of quaternary Hermitian LCD codes having large minimum weights. As an example, we give a classification of quaternary optimal Hermitian LCD codes of dimension 3.
Hermitian linear complementary dual codes are linear codes whose intersection with their Hermitian dual code is trivial. The largest minimum weight among quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes of dimension $2$ is known for each length. We give the complete classification of optimal quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes of dimension $2$.
For $k \ge 2$ and a positive integer $d_0$, we show that if there exists no quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual $[n,k,d]$ code with $d \ge d_0$ and Hermitian dual distance greater than or equal to $2$, then there exists no quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual $[n,k,d]$ code with $d \ge d_0$ and Hermitian dual distance $1$. As a consequence, we generalize a result by Araya, Harada and Saito on the nonexistence of some quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes.
A classification of quaternary Hermitian self-dual codes of length 20 is given. Using this classification, a classification of extremal quaternary Hermitian self-dual codes of length 22 is also given.
We introduce a general construction of many Hermitian LCD $[n, k]$ codes from a given Hermitian LCD $[n, k]$ code. Furthermore, we present some results on punctured codes and shortened codes of quaternary Hermitian LCD codes. As an application, we improve some of the previously known lower bounds on the largest minimum weights of quaternary Hermitian LCD codes of length $12 \le n \le 30$.
The largest minimum weights among quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes are known for dimension $2$. In this paper, we give some conditions for the nonexistence of quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes with large minimum weights. As an application, we completely determine the largest minimum weights for dimension $3$, by using a classification of some quaternary codes. In addition, for a positive integer $s$, a maximal entanglement entanglement-assisted quantum $[[21s+5,3,16s+3;21s+2]]$ codes is constructed for the first time from a quaternary Hermitian linear com…
Quaternary unit Hadamard (QUH) matrices were introduced by Fender, Kharagani and Suda along with a method to construct them at prime power orders. We present a novel construction of real Hadamard matrices from QUH matrices. Our construction recovers the result by Mukhopadhyay on the existence of real Hadamard matrices of order $q^n+q^{n-1}$ for each prime power $q\equiv 3\mod 4$. Furthermore we provide nonexistence conditions for QUH matrices.
We give two methods for constructing many linear complementary dual (LCD for short) codes from a given LCD code, by modifying some known methods for constructing self-dual codes. Using the methods, we construct binary LCD codes and quaternary Hermitian LCD codes, which improve the previously known lower bound on the largest minimum weights.
We give restrictions on the weight enumerators of ternary near-extremal self-dual codes of length divisible by $12$ and quaternary near-extremal Hermitian self-dual codes of length divisible by $6$. We consider the weight enumerators for which there is a ternary near-extremal self-dual code of length $12m$ for $m =3,4,5,6$. Also we consider the weight enumerators for which there is a quaternary near-extremal Hermitian self-dual code of length $6m$ for $m =4,5,6$.
We establish the existence of optimal maximal entanglement entanglement-assisted quantum $[[n,k,d;n-k]]_2$ codes for $(n,k,d)=(14,6,7)$, $(15,7,7)$, $(17,6,9)$, $(17,7,8)$, $(19,7,9)$ and $(20,7,10)$. These codes are obtained from quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes. We also give some observation on the largest minimum weights.
In this work, we give three new techniques for constructing Hermitian self-dual codes over commutative Frobenius rings with a non-trivial involutory automorphism using $λ$-circulant matrices. The new constructions are derived as modifications of various well-known circulant constructions of self-dual codes. Applying these constructions together with the building-up construction, we construct many new best known quaternary Hermitian self-dual codes of lengths 26, 32, 36, 38 and 40.
We consider nonsymmetric hermitian complex Hadamard matrices belonging to the Bose-Mesner algebra of commutative nonsymmetric association schemes. First, we give a characterization of the eigenmatrix of a commutative nonsymmetric association scheme of class 3 whose Bose-Mesner algebra contains a nonsymmetric hermitian complex Hadamard matrix, and show that such a complex Hadamard matrix is necessarily a Butson-type complex Hadamard matrix whose entries are 4-th roots of unity. We also give nonsymmetric association schemes X of class 6 on Galois rings of characteristic 4, and classify hermitian…
We show that any ternary Euclidean (resp.\ quaternary Hermitian) linear complementary dual $[n,k]$ code contains a Euclidean (resp.\ Hermitian) linear complementary dual $[n,k-1]$ subcode for $2 \le k \le n$. As a consequence, we derive a bound on the largest minimum weights among ternary Euclidean linear complementary dual codes and quaternary Hermitian linear complementary dual codes.
A complex Hadamard matrix is a square matrix W with complex entries of absolute value 1 satisfying WW*=nI, where * stands for the Hermitian transpose and I is the identity matrix of order n. In this paper, we give constructions of complex Hadamard matrices in the Bose-Mesner algebra of a certain 4-class symmetric association scheme. Moreover, we determine the Nomura algebras to show that the resulting matrices are not decomposable into nontrivial generalized tensor products.
A $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard code of length $α+2β=2^t$ is a binary Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a $Z_2Z_4$-additive code with $α$ binary coordinates and $β$ quaternary coordinates. It is known that there are exactly $[(t-1)/2]$ and $[t/2]$ nonequivalent $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard codes of length $2^t$, with $α=0$ and $α\not=0$, respectively, for all $t\geq 3$. In this paper, it is shown that each $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard code with $α=0$ is equivalent to a $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard code with $α\not=0$; so there are only $[t/2]$ nonequivalent $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard codes of length $…
A complex Hadamard matrix is a square matrix H with complex entries of absolute value 1 satisfying $HH^*= nI$, where $*$ stands for the Hermitian transpose and I is the identity matrix of order $n$. In this paper, we first determine the image of a certain rational map from the $d$-dimensional complex projective space to $\mathbb{C}^{d(d+1)/2}$. Applying this result with $d=3$, we give constructions of complex Hadamard matrices, and more generally, type-II matrices, in the Bose-Mesner algebra of a certain 3-class symmetric association scheme. In particular, we recover the complex Hadamard matri…
Linear codes with complementary duals are linear codes whose intersection with their duals are trivial, shortly named LCD codes. In this paper we outline a construction for LCD codes over finite fields of order $q$ using weighing matrices and their orbit matrices. The LCD codes constructed can be of any length dimension according to the choice of matrices used in their construction. As a special case, LCD codes of length $2n$ and dimension $n$ are constructed which also have the property of being formally self-dual. Alternatively, under a condition depending on $q$ that the codes are not LCD, …
