We present a study of the Higgs boson decay branching ratios to $b\bar{b}$, $c\bar{c}$ and gluons, one of the cornerstones of the physics program at the International Linear Collider (ILC). A standard model Higgs boson of 120\,GeV mass, produced in the Higgs-strahlung process at $\sqrt{s} = 250$\,GeV was investigated using the full detector simulation and reconstruction procedures. The analysis was performed in the framework of the Silicon Detector (SiD) concept with full account of inclusive standard model backgrounds. The selected decay modes contained two heavy flavour jets in the final state and required excellent flavour tagging through precise reconstruction of interaction and decay vertices in the detector. A new signal discrimination technique using correlations of neural network outputs was used to determine the branching ratios and estimate their uncertainties, 4.8\%, 8.4\% and 12.2\% for $b\bar{b}$, $c\bar{c}$ and gluons respectively.
The measurement of hadronic Higgs Boson branching ratios H -> bb, H -> gg for a light Standard Model-like Higgs boson produced at 250 GeV centre of mass energy at the International Linear Collider (ILC) is presented. The tools and techniques used for the analysis are briefly discussed.
We present an analysis for the measurement of the Higgs boson branching ratio H-> cc-bar for a light Standard Model-like Higgs boson produced at 250 GeV centre of mass energy at the International Linear Collider (ILC). The tools and technique used for the analysis are described and relative uncertainties are determined.
In the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, the branching ratio for Higgs boson decays to a final state which is invisible to collider detectors, $H \rightarrow ZZ^{\star} \rightarrow ν\barν ν\barν$, is order 0.10%. In theories beyond the SM (BSM), this branching ratio can be enhanced by decays to undiscovered particles like dark matter (DM). At the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the current best upper limit on the branching ratio of invisible Higgs boson decays is 11% at 95% confidence level. We investigate the expected sensitivity to invisible Higgs decays with the Silicon Detector (SiD) a…
Recent progress in Higgs boson studies for the International e+e- Linear Collider (ILC) is reported. These studies include extended simulations of the measurement of the Higgs mass, measurements of the Higgs boson branching ratios at higher center-of-mass energies, and methods for extracting the Higgs boson self-coupling. Also, the interplay between the LHC and the ILC in the measurement of the top Yukawa coupling and in the extraction of the supersymmetric Higgs sector parameters is discussed.
A more precise determination of the effective fine structure constant alpha_eff(E) is mandatory for confronting data from future precision experiments with precise SM predictions. At a future e+e- collider like the ILC, as at LEP before, alpha_eff(E) plays the role the static zero momentum alpha=alpha_eff(0) plays in low energy physics. However, by going to the effective version of alpha one loses about a factor 2 times 10^2 at E=m_mu to 10^5 at E=M_Z in precision, such that for physics at the gauge boson mass scale and beyond alpha_eff(E) is the least known basic parameter, about a factor 20 …
We evaluate the expected measurement accuracy of the branching ratio of the Standard Model Higgs boson decaying into tau lepton pairs $h \to τ^+ τ^-$ at the ILC with a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 500$ GeV with a full simulation of the ILD detector. We assume a Higgs mass of $M_h = 125$ GeV, a branching ratio of $\mathrm{BR}(h \to τ^+ τ^-) = 6.32 \%$, beam polarizations of $P(e^+, e^-) = (-0.8,+0.3)$, and an integrated luminosity of $\int L dt = 500 \mathrm{fb^{-1}}$. The Higgs-strahlung process $e^+ e^- \to Zh$ with $Z \to q \overline{q}$ and the $WW$-fusion process $e^+ e^- \to ν\ove…
We analyze the LHC SUSY 1exclusion limits in the cha1-neu2 channel. We take into account the decay neu2 -> neu1 h (based on a full one-loop calculation in the complex MSSM), which has a non-negligible branching ratio. Including this decay strongly reduces the excluded parameter space in the m_neu2-m_neu1 plane. This opens up a large parameter space for electroweak SUSY particles, easily allowing the production of these particles at the ILC.
We give the first estimate of charmless scalar meson emitting weak hadronic decays of 0 $\Lembda_{b}^{0}$, $Ξ_{b}^{0}$ and $Ξ_{b}^{-}$ bottom baryons employing the pole model and consequently predict their branching ratios.
In many SUSY models the first SUSY signal in the proposed International Linear Collider is expected to come from the pair production of $\tildeτ_1$, followed by its decay into $τ$+LSP. We study a simple and robust method of measuring the polarization of this $τ$ in its 1-prong hadronic decay channel, and show how it can be used to discriminate between SUSY models and to determine SUSY parameters.
At the future $e^{+}e^{-}$ linear collider ILC/CLIC it will be able to measure the photon structure functions in a wider range of kinematic variables x and $Q^{2}$ in comparison to the previous results of experiments at LEP. The classical way to measure the photon structure functions is the study of $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow e^{+}e^{-} γγ \rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}$ X process, where X is the leptonic or hadronic final state. For the study of the QED and hadronic photon structure functions the simulations of two-photon processes were performed at the ILC center-of-mass energy equal to 500 GeV using t…
We evaluate the measurement accuracy of the branching ratio of $h \to τ^+ τ^-$ at $\sqrt{s} = 250$ GeV and 500 GeV at the ILC with the ILD detector simulation. For the $\sqrt{s} = 250$ GeV, we assume the Higgs mass of $M_h = 120$ GeV, branching ratio of $\mathrm{Br}(h \to τ^+ τ^-) = 8.0 \ %$, beam polarization of $P(e^-, e^+) = (-0.8, +0.3)$, and integrated luminosity of $\int L \ dt = 250 \ \mathrm{fb ^{-1}}$. The Higgs-strahlung process $e^+ e^- \to Zh$ with $Z \to e^+ e^-$, $Z \to μ^+ μ^-$, $Z \to q\bar{q}$ mode are analyzed. The measurement accuracy is calculated to be $Δ(σ\cdot \mathrm{Br…
The ILC Higgs White Paper is a review of Higgs Boson theory and experiment at the International Linear Collider (ILC). Theory topics include the Standard Model Higgs, the two-Higgs doublet model, alternative approaches to electroweak symmetry breaking, and precision goals for Higgs boson experiments. Experimental topics include the measurement of the Higgs cross section times branching ratio for various Higgs decay modes at ILC center of mass energies of 250, 500, and 1000 GeV, and the extraction of Higgs couplings and the total Higgs width from these measurements. Luminosity scenarios based o…
ECOMB is established as a hadronic multiparticle production generator by soft interaction. It incorporates the eikonal formalism, parton model, color mutation, branching, resonance production and decay. A partonic cluster, being color-neutral initially, splits into smaller color-neutral clusters successively due to the color mutation of the quarks. The process stops at hadronic resonance, $q\bar q$ pair, formation. The model contains self-similar dynamics and exhibits scaling behavior in the factorial moments, e.g. the intermittency.
The discovery of the 125 GeV Higgs boson and the measurement of its branching ratios has initiated the exploration of the electroweak symmetry breaking sector. There have been numerous studies exploring the restrictions these results place on the parameter space of two Higgs doublet models. We extend these results to include the full data set and study the expected sensitivity that can be obtained with 300 and 3000 inverse femtobarn of integrated luminosity. In addition, searches for a heavy Standard Model Higgs boson are also considered. It is shown that the nonobservation of such a Higgs bos…
Physics at the ILC is reviewed focusing mostly on Higgs physics. It is emphasized that at the ILC it is possible to measure the $hZZ$ coupling totally model independently, which in turn allows model-independent normalization of various branching ratio measurements and consequently the absolute measurements of corresponding couplings. Combining them with the measurements of the top Yukawa coupling and the Higgs self-coupling at higher energies, the full ILC program is shown to allow a precision test of the mass-coupling relation.
In the present work the $Z^\prime tc$ coupling is bounded by using the current experimental data on the $D^{0}-\bar{D^{0}}$ meson-mixing system. It is found that the strength associated to this coupling is less than $5.75\times 10^{-2}$. The single top production through the $e^+e^-\to Z^\prime\to tc$ process at the $Z^\prime$ boson resonance is studied and we found that around $10^7$ $tc$ events will be expected at the International Linear Collider. For the $Z^\prime\to tc$ decay, we predict a branching ratio of $10^{-2}$.
The 1-loop effects of the MSSM at the ILC are investigated through numerical analysis. We studied the higgs production processes $e^-e^+\rightarrow Zh$ and $e^-e^+\rightarrow ν\barνh$ at the ILC. It is found that the magnitude of the MSSM contribution through the 1-loop effects is sizable enough to be detected. In the study, three sets of the MSSM parameters are proposed, which are consistent with the observed higgs mass, the muon $g$-$2$, the dark matter abundance and the decay branching ratios of $B$ mesons. In the $e^-e^+\rightarrow Zh$ process, the 1-loop effects of the MSSM are visible an…
We study the possible reach of the proposed International Linear Collider (ILC) in exploring the lepton flavor violating (LFV) Higgs boson decay $h\toμτ$. Two generic types of models are investigated, both involving an extended scalar sector. For the first type, the rest of the scalars are heavy and beyond the reach of ILC but the LFV decay occurs through a tiny admixture of the Standard Model (SM) doublet with the heavy degrees of freedom. In the second class, which is more constrained from the existing data, the SM Higgs boson does not have any LFV decay but there are other scalars degenerat…
We investigate a method for determining the CP nature of a neutral Higgs boson or spin-zero resonance at a future linear e+e- collider (ILC) in its tau decay channel. Our procedure is applicable if the production vertex of the Higgs boson can be measured. This will be the case, for example, for the Higgs-strahlung process. We show that the method is feasible for both the leptonic and the hadronic 1-prong tau decay modes.
This document is meant to provide semi-quantitative arguments to evaluate the luminosity needed at ILC to achieve a precise measurement of the Higgs mass, width and invisible decays. It is shown that for mH=120 GeV, one can save an order of magnitude on the luminosity needed to achieve a given precision on the Higgs mass, as compared to what can be obtained at \sqrt s=350 GeV, by running near threshold. Since the recoil mass resolution near threshold is independent of the Higgs mass, one can also access the Higgs width for masses above 170 GeV. This strategy of running just above threshold is …
We outline a systematic approach to the determination of the Standard Model-like Higgs boson total width and measurable coupling parameters in a model-independent manner at the International Linear Collider (ILC) and illustrate the complementarity for operating the ILC at $250$ GeV near the $Zh$ threshold and at $500$ GeV and $1$ TeV utilizing the $WW, ZZ$ fusion processes. We perform detailed simulations for an important contributing channel to the coupling determination and for invisible decays. Without model assumptions, and combining the information for the coupling ratios from the LHC, th…
We study the $h γZ$ coupling, which is a loop induced coupling in the Standard Model (SM), to probe new physics. In a global fit based on the SM Effective Field Theory, measurement of the SM $h γZ$ coupling can provide a very useful constraint, in particular for the precise determination of $hZZ$ and $hWW$ couplings. At the International Linear Collider (ILC), there are two direct ways to study the $h γZ$ coupling: one is to measure the branching ratio of the $h \to γZ$ decay and the other to measure the cross section for the $e^+e^- \to h γ$ process. We have performed a full simulation study …
The difference of tau partial decay widths into even and odd number of pions may be considered as another important constraint on the hadronic spectral function, in addition to four classic sum rules of current algebra. Within certain reasonable assumptions its value may be used to test the factorization hypothesis and estimate the contribution of dimension 6 condensates into the tau hadronic decay width.
Based on the effective Hamiltonian with the generalized factorization approach, we calculate the branching ratios and CP asymmetries of $B \to VV$ decays in the Topcolor-assisted Technicolor (TC2) model. Within the considered parameter space we find that: (a) for the penguin-dominated $B \to K^{*+}ϕ$ and $K^{*0}ϕ$ decays, the new physics enhancements to the branching ratios are around 40%; (b) the measured branching ratios of $B \to K^{*+} ϕ$ and $ K^{*0} ϕ$ decays prefer the range of $3 \lesssim \nceff \lesssim 5$; (c) the SM and TC2 model predictions for the branching ratio ${\cal B}(B^+ \to…
We describe DSiD, a fast simulation Delphes detector for the International Linear Collider (ILC) based on the full simulation performance of the SiD detector. SiD is one of two detectors described in the ILC Technical Design Report (TDR). The tracking efficiency, tracking momentum resolution, electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeter energy resolution, particle identification and flavor tagging efficiencies are taken from the Detailed Baseline Design (DBD) study as described in ILC TDR Volume 4: Detectors. In a cross-check study with $4 \times 10^6$ $e^+ e^- \rightarrow b \bar{b}$ events genera…
We calculate the branching ratio and direct CP asymmetry in nonleptonic two body B decays B^+- ->π^+- η'. It is shown that the tree diagram and gluon fusion mechanism via penguin diagram have comparable contributions to these decays which, as a result, could provide an interesting venue for investigating CP violation. Our estimate shows that the direct CP asymmetry in the above decays could be as large as 75% which along with a branching ratio B(B^- ->π^- η')=3.4 X 10^{-6} should be accessible to experiment in the near future.
In this study, we have investigated the two-body hadronic decay of the charged kaon, $ K^{+}\rightarrowπ^{+}+π^{0} $, in the presence of a laser field with circular polarization. We have derived, by analytical techniques, the laser-assisted decay width and the branching ratio of the charged kaon decay via the two-body hadronic channel. We have also taken into consideration the impressive results obtained for the laser-assisted charged kaon decay via the leptonic mode in order to understand more clearly the effect of the laser field on the quantities related to the charged kaon decay such as th…
The precision measurements of the Higgs properties is crucial for a better understanding of electroweak symmetry breaking. It can be first achieved at the ILC\pcite{Behnke2013} at $\sqrt{s}=250\rm ~GeV$ via the Higgs-strahlung production process $e^+e^-\rightarrow ZH$. The hadronic decay mode $Z\rightarrow \bar{q}q$ constitutes more than $65%$ of the total, a factor 10 more than $Z\rightarrow μμ$. An analysis based solely on the $Z$ jet pair information could thus lead to a high statistics and provide a minimum biased Higgs sample. A study of the feasibility of such analysis is shown here, bas…
We study the two-body hadronic $D\to PV$ decays, where $P$ ($V$) denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) meson, in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude approach proposed in our previous work. This approach is based on the factorization of short-distance and long-distance dynamics into Wilson coefficients and hadronic matrix elements of four-fermion operators, respectively, with the latter being parametrized in terms of several nonperturbative quantities. We further take into account the $ρ$-$ω$ mixing effect, which improves the global fit to the branching ratios involving the $ρ^0$ and $ω$…
I review recent progress on exclusive hadronic B meson decays in the perturbative QCD approach, with focus on puzzles in the branching ratios and the CP asymmetries of the B -> pi K and B -> pi pi modes, and polarization fractions in B -> VV modes.
A sample of more than one million Ke4 decay candidates with less than one percent background contamination has been collected by the NA48/2 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2003-2004, allowing a detailed study of the decay properties. The branching ratio, inclusive of radiative Ke4gamma decays, is measured to be BR(Ke4) = (4.257 +/- 0.016_exp +/- 0.031_ext) x 10-5 with a total relative error of 0.8%. This measurement complements the study of S- and P-wave hadronic form factors by assigning absolute values to the relative hadronic form factors obtained earlier in a simultaneous analysis of the pio…
Flavour-violating Higgs interactions are suppressed in the Standard Model such that their observation would be a clear sign of new physics. We investigate the prospects for detecting quark flavour-violating Higgs decays in the clean ILC environment. Concentrating on the decay to a bottom and a light quark $j$, we identify the dominant Standard Model background channels as coming from hadronic Standard Model Higgs decays with mis-identified jets. Therefore, good flavour tagging capabilities are essential to keep the background rate under control. Through a simple cut-based analysis, we find tha…
We review recent experimental results on hadronic decays and lifetimes of hadrons containing b and c quarks. We discuss charm counting and the semileptonic branching fraction in B decays, the color suppressed amplitude in B and D decay, and the search for gluonic penguins in B decay.
Although the existence of Dark Matter (DM) has been suggested by various astrophysical observations, it has not yet been discovered today. We can assume a scenario in which the particles that account for the DM can interact with the Standard Model particles only through their couplings with the Higgs sector, the so-called Higgs-portal model. This model can be investigated by collider experiment using the invisible decay of Higgs boson. In this study, we evaluate the search ability of International Linear Collider (ILC) for invisible decay of the Higgs using International Large Detector (ILD) f…
We give arguments in favor of the compatibility with standard physics of some large nonleptonic branching fractions in Cabibbo--forbidden $D^+$ decays, contrary to a recent claim in the literature.
A future e+e- collider, such as the ILC or CLIC, would allow the Higgs sector to be probed with a precision significantly beyond that achievable at the High-Luminosity LHC. A central part of the Higgs programme at an e+e- collider is the model-independent determination of the absolute Higgs couplings to fermions and to gauge bosons. Here the measurement of the e+e-->HZ Higgsstrahlung cross section, using the recoil mass technique, sets the absolute scale for all Higgs coupling measurements. Previous studies have considered e+e- ->ZH with Z->l+l-, where l = electron or muon. In this paper it is…
We study in next-to-leading order QCD hadronic penguin $B$ decays in the Standard and two-Higgs-doublet models. Although the gluonic penguin dominates, we find the electroweak contribution non-negligible. In the Standard Model, the branching ratio for $B \rightarrow X_s ϕ$ is predicted to be in the range $(0.6\sim 2)\times 10^{-4}$. The ranges of branching ratios for $B\rightarrow K ϕ$, $B\rightarrow K^*ϕ$, and $B_s\rightarrow ϕϕ$ are $(0.4\sim 2)\times 10^{-5}$, $(0.2\sim 1)\times 10^{-5}$, and $(0.15\sim 0.5)\times 10^{-5}$, respectively. The contribution from the charged Higgs boson in two …
This paper focuses on disagreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results of the production properties of Bc meson. Hadronic decays of Bc are used to separate predictions of production cross section and predictions of branching ratio. The branching ratios of Bc decays to J/psi + πand to J/psi + 3πare also presented.
I discuss three B physics results with potential for exhibiting new flavour-changing interactions: (1) the time-dependent CP asymmetry in B\to J/ψK_S decay; (2) branching fractions and CP asymmetries in B\to ππ, πK decays; (3) inclusive and exclusive semi-hadronic b\to s transitions.
In the scenario recently proposed by Arkani-Hamed and Dimopoulos, the supersymmetric scalar particles are all very heavy, at least of the order of $10^9$ GeV but the gauginos, higgsino, and one of the CP-even neutral Higgs bosons remain light under a TeV. In addition to gluino production, the first SUSY signature would be pair production of neutralinos and/or charginos. Here we study, with explicit CP violation, the production of neutralinos and charginos at hadronic colliders as well as the possible decay modes. We notice that the branching ratio of the neutralino radiative decay can be sizab…
Two-body hadronic weak decays of Bc meson involving tensor meson in the final state are studied by using Isgur- Scora-Grinstein-Wise (ISGW II) model. Decay amplitudes are obtained using the factorization scheme in the Spectator Quark Model. Branching ratios for the charm changing and bottom changing decay modes are predicted.
The role of inelastic final-state interactions in CP asymmetries and branching ratios is investigated in certain chosen single isospin two-body hadronic B decays. Treating final-state interactions through Pomeron and Regge exchanges, we demonstrate that inelastic final state interactions could lead to sizeable effects on the CP asymmetry.
We discuss the effects of the gravitino on the big-bang nucleosynthesis (BBN), paying particular attention to the hadronic decay mode of the gravitino. We will see that the hadronic decay of the gravitino significantly affect the BBN and, for the case where the hadronic branching ratio is sizable, very stringent upper bound on the reheating temperature after inflation is obtained.
Interpretations of searches for the Higgs boson are governed by model-dependent combinations of Higgs production cross sections and Higgs branching ratios. Mixing of the Higgs doublet with a hidden sector captures modifications from the Standard Model Higgs phenomenology in the standard search channels in a representative way, in particular because invisible Higgs decay modes open up. As a consequence, LHC exclusion bounds, which disfavor a heavy Standard Model Higgs can be consistently understood in terms of a standard-hidden mixed Higgs system. Shedding light on the possible existence of suc…
How much information is added to the Review of Particle Physics when a new decay branching ratio of a hadron is measured and reported? This is quantifiable by Shannon's information entropy $S(i) =-\sum_{f}BR_{(i\longrightarrow f)}\log BR_{(i\longrightarrow f)}$ that takes as input the experimental branching ratios (BR) of the decay distribution of particle i. It may be used at two levels, against the distribution of decay-channel probabilities, or against the distribution of individual quantum-state probabilities (integrating the phase space of those states provides the former). We illustrate …
We provide a comprehensive review of hadronic decays of D and D_s mesons. We discuss current theoretical and experimental challenges and successes in understanding of hadronic transitions of those mesons. A brief overview of the theoretical and experimental tools are given before discussing the absolute branching fractions for D and D_s mesons. Cabibbo suppressed and rare hadronic decays are discussed and compared with theory before discussing our understanding of hadronic multibody decays.
The two body Cabibbo favored hadronic decays of charmed baryons $Λ^{+}_{c}$, $Ξ^{+}_{c}$ and $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ into an octet or decuplet baryon and a pseudoscalar meson are examined in the SU(3) symmetry scheme. The numerical estimates for decay widths and branching ratios of some of the modes are obtained and are in good agreement with experiment.
This document discusses for the first time the experimental prospects on the measurement of cross section and the forward-backward asymmetry in $e^{-}e^{+}\rightarrow c\bar{c}$ collisions at 250 GeV at the International Linear Collider operating polarised beams. The cross section will be normalised to the total hadronic cross section. We discuss the results for an analysis assuming the integrated luminosity of 2000 fb$^{-1}$ foreseen in the baseline project. The measurement requires determining the charge of both jets identified as originated by a $c$-quark. The charge measurement is optimally…
We discuss a model for total hadronic and photonic cross-sections which includes hard parton-parton scattering to drive the rise and soft gluon resummation to tame it. Unitarity is ensured by embedding the cross-section in the eikonal formalism. Predictions for LHC and ILC are presented.
I review sum rule determinations of |V_us| employing hadronic tau decay data, taking into account recent HFAG updates of exclusive tau branching fractions and paying special attention to the impact of the slow convergence of the relevant integrated D=2 OPE series and the potential role of contributions of as-yet-unmeasured higher multiplicity modes to the strange inclusive spectral distribution. In addition to conventional flavor-breaking sum rule determinations, information obtainable from mixed tau-electroproduction sum rules having much reduced OPE uncertainties, and from sum rules based on…
We study two-body charmless hadronic decays of $B$ mesons to a pseudoscalar meson ($P$) and a tensor meson ($T$) in the frameworks of both flavor SU(3) symmetry and generalized factorization. Certain ways to test validity of the generalized factorization are proposed, based on the flavor SU(3) analysis. We present a set of relations between a flavor SU(3) amplitude and a corresponding amplitude in the generalized factorization which bridge both approaches in $B \to PT$ decays. The branching ratios and CP asymmetries are calculated using the \emph{full} effective Hamiltonian including all the \…
The branching fraction of the psi(3770) decays into charmless final states is estimated in the S- and D-wave charmonia mixing scheme. With the information of the hadronic decays of J/psi and psi(3686), it is found that a large branching fraction, up to 13% of the total psi(3770) decays may go to charmless final states. The experimental search for these decays is also discussed.
With the inclusion of nonfactorized amplitudes in a scheme with $N_c=3$, we have studied Cabibbo-favored decays of $D^0$ and $D^+$ into two-body hadronic states involving two isospins in the final state. We have shown that it is possible to understand the measured branching ratios and determined the sizes and signs of nonfactorized amplitudes required.
We review recent progress in the perturbative calculations for semileptonic and hadronic B meson decays with an emphasis on the phenomenological implications of the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections. Specifically, we consider CP-averaged branching ratios of tree-dominated B -> pi pi/pi rho/rho rho decays and the inclusive determination of |V_ub| from B -> X_u l nu.
Using the perturbative QCD approach, we studied the effects from hadronic structure of photon on the pure annihilation rediative decays $B\toϕγ$ and $B_s\to(ρ^0,ω)γ$. These decays have small branching fractions due to the power suppression by the $Λ/m_B$, which make them very sensitive to the next-leading power corrections. The quark components and the related two-particle distribution amplitudes of a final state photon are introduced. The branching fractions can be enhanced remarkably by the factorizable and nonfactorizable emission diagrams. The branching fraction of $B\to ϕγ$ even increases…
We present an update of the branching ratios for Higgs decays in the Standard Model and the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. In particular, the decays of the Higgs particles to quark and gluon jets are analyzed and the spread in the theoretical predictions due to uncertainties of the quark masses and the QCD coupling is discussed.
The soft production problem in hadronic collisions as described in the eikonal color mutation branching model is improved in the way that the initial parton distribution is treated. Furry branching of the partons is considered as a means of describing the nonperturbative process of parton reproduction in soft interaction. The values of all the moments, <n> and $C_q$, for q=2,...,5, as well as their energy dependences can be correctly determined by the use of only two parameters.
