We consider the covariant galileon gravity taking into account the third order and fourth order scalar field Lagrangians L_3(π) and L_4(π) consisting of three and four $π$'s with four and five derivatives acting on them respectively. The background dynamical equations are set up for the system under consideration and the stability of the self accelerating solution is demonstrated in general setting. We extended this study to the general case of the fifth order theory. For spherically symmetric static background, we spell out conditions for suppression of fifth force effects mediated by the galileon field $π$. We study the field perturbations in the fixed background and investigate conditions for their causal propagation. We also briefly discuss metric fluctuations and derive evolution equation for matter perturbations in galileon gravity.
We investigate the Universe at the late stage of its evolution and inside the cell of uniformity 150-370 Mpc. We consider the Universe to be filled at these scales with dust like matter, a minimally coupled Galileon field and radiation. We use the mechanical approach. Therefore, the peculiar velocities of the inhomogeneities as well as the fluctuations of the other perfect fluids can be considered nonrelativistic. Such fluids are said to be coupled because they are concentrated around the inhomogeneities. We investigate the conditions under which the physical Galileon field, i.e. compatible wi…
A shift-symmetric Galileon model in presence of spacetime torsion has been constructed for the first time. This has been realized by localizing (or, gauging) the Galileon symmetry in flat spacetime in an appropriate manner. We have applied the above model to study the evolution of the universe at a cosmological scale. Interestingly, for a wide class of torsional structures we have shown that the model leads to late time cosmic acceleration. Furthermore, as torsion vanishes, our model reproduces the standard results.
We study a dark energy cubic bi-Galileons field model based on truncation of the recently proposed generalized covariant multi-Galileons model. We investigate the cosmological dynamic of the model by the theory of dynamical systems through the analysis of the properties of the fixed points in each cosmological epoch. We show the existence of two tracker solutions, one of which is that of the cubic single Galileon model and the other solution is the signature of the second Galileon field. Exploiting the competition between the two Galileon fields, we find a dark energy solution that avoids the …
We investigate cosmological dynamics and screening mechanism of the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) Galileon model. The model has been divided into two regimes, one has positive signs in front of scalar field kinetic terms so-called the DBI galileon, another one has negative signs and it is dubbed as the DBIonic galileon. We find de Sitter solution and evolution of the Universe starting from radiation dominated era to late-time accelerated expansion in the DBI galileon model without the presence of potential term. In one of the attractors, the ghost and Laplacian instabilities vanishes for the whole e…
Cubic Galileon massive gravity is a development of de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolly (dRGT) massive gravity theory is which the space of the Stueckelberg field is broken. We consider the cubic Galileon term as a scalar field coupled to the graviton filed. We present a detailed study of the cosmological aspects of this theory of gravity. We analyze self-accelerating solutions of the background equations of motion to explain the accelerated expansion of the Universe. Exploiting the latest Union2 Type Ia Supernovea (SNIa) dataset, which consists of 557 SNIa, we show that cubic Galileon massive gravity theo…

We investigate the existence and behavior of oscillons in theories in which higher derivative terms are present in the Lagrangian, such as galileons. Such theories have emerged in a broad range of settings, from higher-dimensional models, to massive gravity, to models for late-time cosmological acceleration. By focusing on the simplest example---massive galileon effective field theories---we demonstrate that higher derivative terms can lead to the existence of completely new oscillons (quasi-breathers). We illustrate our techniques in the artificially simple case of 1 + 1 dimensions, and then …
Discrepant measurements of the Universe's expansion rate ($H_0$) may signal physics beyond the standard cosmological model. Here I describe two early modified gravity mechanisms that reconcile the value of $H_0$ by increasing the expansion rate in the era of matter-radiation equality. These mechanisms, based on viable Horndeski theories, require significantly less fine-tuned initial conditions than early dark energy with oscillating scalar fields. In Imperfect Dark Energy at Equality (IDEE), the initial energy density dilutes slower than radiation but faster than matter, naturally peaking arou…
The standard model of cosmology, the $Λ$CDM model, describes the evolution of the Universe since the Big Bang with just a few parameters, six in its basic form. Despite being the simplest model, direct late-time measurements of the Hubble constant compared with the early-universe measurements result in the so-called $H_0$ tension. It is claimed that a late time resolution is predestined to fail when different cosmological probes are combined. In this work, we shake the ground of this belief with a very simple model. We show how, in the context of cubic vector Galileon models, the Hubble tensio…
