For a matrix coalgebra $C$ over some field, we determine all small subcoalgebras of the free Hopf algebra on $C$, the free Hopf algebra with a bjective antipode on $C$, and the free Hopf algebra with antipode $S$ satisfying $S^{2d}={\rm id}$ on $C$ for some fixed $d$. We use this information to find the endomorphisms of these free Hopf algebras, and to determine the centers of the categories of Hopf algebras, Hopf algebras with bijective antipode, and Hopf algebras with antipode of order dividing 2d.
Let H be a cosemisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field k which contains a simple subcoalgebra of dimension 9. We show that if H has no simple subcoalgebras of even dimension then H contains either a grouplike element with order 2 or 3, a Hopf subalgebra of dimension 75, or a family of simple subcoalgebras whose dimensions are the squares of each positive odd integer. In particular, if H is finite odd dimensional, then its dimension is divisible by 3.
The link relation on simple subcoalgebras is used for decompositions of coalgebras. In this paper, we provide more sufficient conditions for this link relation, and prove a formula on the products between link-indecomposable components of Hopf algebras with the dual Chevalley property. Furthermore, we show that each of its component is generated by a simple subcoalgebra, as a faithfully flat module (in fact, a projective generator) over a Hopf subalgebra which is the component containing the unit element. Our conclusions generalize some relevant results on pointed Hopf algebras, which were est…
In this paper, we study Dorroh extensions of bialgebras and Hopf algebras. Let $(H,I)$ be both a Dorroh pair of algebras and a Dorroh pair of coalgebras. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for $H\ltimes_dI$ to be a bialgebra and a Hopf algebra, respectively. We also describe all ideals of Dorroh extensions of algebras and subcoalgebras of Dorroh extensions of coalgebras and compute these ideals and subcoalgebras for some concrete examples.
A criterion for subcoalgebras to be invariant under the adjoint action is given generalizing Masuoka's criterion for normal Hopf subalgebras. At the level of characters, the image of the induction functor from a normal Hopf subalgebra is isomorphic to the image of the restriction functor.
We study subcoalgebras of path coalgebras that are spanned by paths (called path subcoalgebras) and subcoalgebras of incidence coalgebras, and propose a unifying approach for these classes. We discuss the left quasi-co-Frobenius and the left co-Frobenius properties for these coalgebras. We classify the left co-Frobenius path subcoalgebras, showing that they are direct sums of certain path subcoalgebras arising from the infinite line quiver or from cyclic quivers. We also discuss the coreflexive property for the considered classes of coalgebras. Finally, we investigate which of the co-Frobenius…
For a quasi-triangular Hopf algebra $\left( H,R\right) $, there is a notion of transmuted braided group $H_{R}$ of $H$ introduced by Majid. The transmuted braided group $H_{R}$ is a Hopf algebra in the braided category $_{H}\mathcal{M}$. The $R$-adjoint-stable algebra associated with any simple left $H_{R}$-comodule is defined by the authors, and is used to characterize the structure of all irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules in ${}_{H}^{H} \mathcal{YD}$. In this note, we prove for a semisimple factorizable Hopf algebra $ \left( H,R\right) $ that any simple subcoalgebra of $H_R$ is $H$-stable …
The Hopf algebra of word-quasi-symmetric functions ($\WQSym$), a noncommutative generalization of the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions, can be endowed with an internal product that has several compatibility properties with the other operations on $\WQSym$. This extends constructions familiar and central in the theory of free Lie algebras, noncommutative symmetric functions and their various applications fields, and allows to interpret $\WQSym$ as a convolution algebra of linear endomorphisms of quasi-shuffle algebras. We then use this interpretation to study the fine structure of quas…
We attach to any linear endomorphism f of any vector space V a structure of prelie algebra on the shuffle algebra T(V); we describe its enveloping algebra, the dual Hopf algebra and the associated group of characters. For f=Id\_V, we find the algebra of formal diffeomorphisms, seen as a subalgebra of the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees in the context of QFT; for other well-chosen f, we obtain the groups of Fliess operators in Control Theory. An algebraic structures of these Com-Prelie Hopf algebras is carried out: gradations, group of automorphisms, subobject generated by V, etc.
Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a finite braided multitensor category. Let $B$ be Majid's automorphism braided group of $\mathcal{C}$, then $B$ is a cocommutative Hopf algebra in $\mathcal{C}$. We show that the center of $\mathcal{C}$ is isomorphic to the category of left $B$-comodules in $\mathcal{C}$, and the decomposition of $B$ into a direct sum of indecomposable $\mathcal{C}$-subcoalgebras leads to a decomposition of $B$-$\operatorname*{Comod}_{\mathcal{C}}$ into a direct sum of indecomposable $\mathcal{C}$-module subcategories. As an application, we present an explicit characterization of the struc…
We focus in this text on the adaptation to the study of shuffles of the main combinatorial tool in the theory of free Lie algebras, namely the existence of a universal algebra of endomorphisms for tensor and other cocommutative Hopf algebras: the family of Solomon's descent algebras of type A. We show that there exists similarly a natural endomorphism algebra for commutative shuffle algebras, which is a natural extension of the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations, or algebra of free quasi-symmetric functions. We study this new algebra for its own, establish freeness properties, s…
We prove a variety results on tensor product factorizations of finite dimensional Hopf algebras (more generally Hopf algebras satisfying chain conditions in suitable braided categories). The results are analogs of well-known results on direct product factorizations of finite groups (or groups with chain conditions) such as Fitting's Lemma and the uniqueness of the Krull-Remak-Schmidt factorization. We analyze the notion of normal (and conormal) Hopf algebra endomorphisms, and the structure of endomorphisms and automorphisms of tensor products. The results are then applied to compute the automo…
We describe how to find quantum determinants and antipode formulas from braided vector spaces using the FRT-construction and finite-dimensional Nichols algebras. It generalizes the construction of quantum function algebras using quantum grassmanian algebras. Given a finite-dimensional Nichols algebra B, our method provides a Hopf algebra H such that B is a braided Hopf algebra in the category of H-comodules. It also serves as source to produce Hopf algebras generated by cosemisimple subcoalgebras, which are of interest for the generalized lifting method. We give several examples, among them qu…
Let A be a Hopf algebra and H a coalgebra. We shall describe and classify up to an isomorphism all Hopf algebras E that factorize through A and H: that is E is a Hopf algebra such that A is a Hopf subalgebra of E, H is a subcoalgebra in E with 1_{E} \in H and the multiplication map $A\otimes H \to E$ is bijective. The tool we use is a new product, we call it the unified product, in the construction of which A and H are connected by three coalgebra maps: two actions and a generalized cocycle. Both the crossed product of an Hopf algebra acting on an algebra and the bicrossed product of two Hopf …
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra, $A/B$ be an $H$-Galois extension. Let $D(A)$ and $D(B)$ be the derived categories of right $A$-modules and of right $B$-modules respectively. An object $M^\cdot\in D(A)$ may be regarded as an object in $D(B)$ via the restriction functor. We discuss the relations of the derived endomorphism rings $E_A(M^\cdot)=\op_{i\in\mathbb{Z}}\Hom_{D(A)}(M^\cdot,M^\cdot[i])$ and $E_B(M^\cdot)=\op_{i\in\mathbb{Z}}\Hom_{D(B)}(M^\cdot,M^\cdot[i])$. If $H$ is a finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra, then $E_A(M^\cdot)$ is a graded subalgebra of $E_B(M^\cdot)$. In particular, if $…
We gives examples of Com-PreLie bialgebras, that is to say bialgebras with a preLie product satisfying certain compatibilities. Three families are defined on shuffle algebras: one associated to linear endomorphisms, one associated to linear form, one associated to preLie algebras. We also give all graded preLie product on K[X], making this bialgebra a Com-PreLie bialgebra, and classify all connected cocommutative Com-PreLie bialgebras.
Let $\left( H,R\right) $ be a finite dimensional semisimple and cosemisimple quasi-triangular Hopf algebra over a field $k$. In this paper, we give the structure of irreducible objects of the Yetter-Drinfeld module category ${} {}_{H}^{H}\mathcal{YD}.$ Let $H_{R}$ be the Majid's transmuted braided group of $\left( H,R\right) ,$ we show that $H_{R}$ is cosemisimple. As a coalgebra, let $H_{R}=D_{1}\oplus\cdots\oplus D_{r}$ be the sum of minimal $H$-adjoint-stable subcoalgebras. For each $i$ $\left( 1\leq i\leq r\right) $, we choose a minimal left coideal $W_{i}$ of $D_{i}$, and we can define th…
The unified product was defined in \cite{am3} related to the restricted extending structure problem for Hopf algebras: a Hopf algebra $E$ factorizes through a Hopf subalgebra $A$ and a subcoalgebra $H$ such that $1\in H$ if and only if $E$ is isomorphic to a unified product $A \ltimes H$. Using the concept of normality of a morphism of coalgebras in the sense of Andruskiewitsch and Devoto we prove an equivalent description for the unified product from the point of view of split morphisms of Hopf algebras. A Hopf algebra $E$ is isomorphic to a unified product $A \ltimes H$ if and only if there …
We study the algebra of conformal endomorphisms $\Cend^{G,G}_n$ of a finitely generated free module $M_n$ over the coordinate Hopf algebra $H$ of a linear algebraic group $G$. It is shown that a conformal subalgebra of $\Cend_n$ acting irreducibly on $M_n$ generates an essential left ideal of $\Cend^{G,G}_n$ if enriched with operators of multiplication on elements of $H$. In particular, we describe such subalgebras for the case when $G$ is finite.
Let A be an associative algebra (or any other kind of algebra for that matter). A derivation on A is an endomorphism \del of the underlying Abelian group of A such that \del(ab)=a(\del b)+(\del a)b for all a,b\in A (1.1) A Hasse-Schmidt derivation is a sequence (d_0=id,d_1,d_2,...,d_n,...) of endomorphisms of the underlying Abelian group such that for all n \ge 1 d_n(ab)= \sum_{i=0}^n (d_ia)(d_{n-i}b) (1.2) Note that d_1 is a derivation as defined by (1.1). The individual d_n that occur in a Hasse-Schmidt derivation are also sometimes called higher derivations. A question of some importance is…
We continue our study of the McKay Correspondence for grading preserving actions of semisimple Hopf algebras H on (noncommutative) Artin-Schelter regular algebras A. Here, we establish correspondences between module categories over A^H, over A\#H, and over \End_{A^H} A. We also study homological properties of (endomorphism rings of) maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over A^H.
Many related products and coproducts (e.g. Hadamard, Cauchy, Kronecker, induction, internal, external, Solomon, composition, Malvenuto-Reutenauer, convolution, etc.) have been defined in the following objects : species, representations of the symmetric groups, symmetric functions, endomorphisms of graded connected Hopf algebras, permutations, non-commutative symmetric functions, quasi-symmetric functions, etc. With the purpose of simplifying and unifying this diversity we introduce yet, another -non graded- product the Heisenberg product, that for the highest and lowest degrees produces the cl…
In this paper we introduce a trace-like invariant for the irreducible representations of a finite dimensional complex Hopf algebra H. We do so by considering the trace of the map induced by the antipode S on the endomorphisms End(V) of a self-dual module V. We also compute the values of this trace for the representations of two non-semisimple Hopf algebras: u_q(sl_2) and D(H_n(q)), the Drinfeld double of the Taft algebra.
Let $H$ be a finite dimensional Hopf algebra, and let $A$ be a left $H$-module algebra. Motivated by the study of the isolated singularities of $A^H$ and the endomorphism ring $\mathrm{End}_{A^H}(A)$, we introduce the concept of Hopf dense Galois extensions in this paper. Hopf dense Galois extensions yield certain equivalences between the quotient categories over $A$ and $A^H$. A special class of Hopf dense Galois extensions consits of the so-called densely group graded algebras, which are weaker versions of strongly graded algebras. A weaker version of Dade's Theorem holds for densely group g…
We study a symmetric Markov extension of k-algebras N \into M, a certain kind of Frobenius extension with conditional expectation that is tracial on the centralizer and dual bases with a separability property. We place a depth two condition on this extension, which is essentially the requirement that the Jones tower N \into M \into M_1 \into M_2 can be obtained by taking relative tensor products with centralizers A = C_{M_1}(N) and B = C_{M_2}(M). Under this condition, we prove that N \into M is the invariant subalgebra pair of a weak Hopf algebra action by A, i.e., that N = M^A. The endomorph…
We bring together ideas in analysis of Hopf *-algebra actions on II_1 subfactors of finite Jones index and algebraic characterizations of Frobenius, Galois and cleft Hopf extensions to prove a non-commutative algebraic analogue of the classical theorem: a finite field extension is Galois iff it is separable and normal. Suppose N < M is a separable Frobenius extension of k-algebras split as N-bimodules with a trivial centralizer C_M(N). Let M_1 := End(M)_N and M_2 := End(M_1)_M be the endomorphism algebras in the Jones tower N < M < M_1 < M_2. We show that under depth 2 conditions on the second…
We study Galois extensions Coinv(M)<M for M an H-comodule algebra and H a Frobenius Hopf algebroid. We obtain generalizations of various theorems in Hopf-Galois theory by Kreimer-Takeuchi, Doi-Takeuchi and Cohen-Fischman-Montgomery. An algebra extension is Galois precisely if it is balanced, depth 2, and Frobenius. Then we show that Yetter-Drinfeld categories over H are always braided and their braided commutative algebras play the role of noncommutative scalar extensions by the Brzezinski-Militaru Theorem. Contravariant "fiber functors" are used to prove an analogue of Ulbrich's Theorem and t…
For $G$ a finite abelian group, we study the properties of general equivalence relations on $G_n=G^n\rtimes \SG_n$, the wreath product of $G$ with the symmetric group $\SG_n$, also known as the $G$-coloured symmetric group. We show that under certain conditions, some equivalence relations give rise to subalgebras of $\k G_n$ as well as graded connected Hopf subalgebras of $\bigoplus_{n\ge o} \k G_n$. In particular we construct a $G$-coloured peak subalgebra of the Mantaci-Reutenauer algebra (or $G$-coloured descent algebra). We show that the direct sum of the $G$-coloured peak algebras is a Ho…
We introduce a general notion of depth two for ring homomorphism N --> M, and derive Morita equivalence of the step one and three centralizers, R = C_M(N) and C = End_{N-M}(M ø_N M), via dual bimodules and step two centralizers A = End_NM_N and B = (M ø_N M)^N, in a Jones tower above N --> M. Lu's bialgebroids End_k A' and A' ø_k {A'}^op over a k-algebra A' are generalized to left and right bialgebroids A and B with B the R-dual bialgebroid of A. We introduce Galois-type actions of A on M and B on End_NM when M_N is a balanced module. In the case of Frobenius extensions M | N, we prove an endo…
