We have observed 8 faint cataclysmic variable stars photometrically. The nova-like Car2 was extensively sampled but showed little variability. V1040 Cen was observed near the end of a dwarf nova outburst and possessed dwarf nova and quasi-periodic oscillations. Ha 075648 has strong large amplitude flickering and a possible orbital modulation at 3.49 h. The correct identification for the nova remnant IL Nor (Nova Nor 1893) has been established. HS Pup (Nova Pup 1963) has a possible orbital period of 3.244 h. SDSS J2048-06 is a low mass transfer dwarf nova that in quiescence shows slow variations at 7.67 h (though poorly sampled with our observations) and an orbital modulation at 87.26 min. The dwarf nova CSS 081419-005022 has an orbital period of 1.796 h and the eclipsing dwarf nova CSS 112634-100210 has an orbital period of 1.8581 h.

The study of triple systems V949 Cen, V358 Pup, and V1055 Sco

The systems V949 Cen, V358 Pup, and V1055 Sco are triples comprised of an eclipsing binary orbiting with a distant visual component on a much longer orbit. The first detailed photometric analysis of these interesting systems was performed using also the archival data from Hipparcos, ASAS, SuperWASP, OMC, and Pi Of The Sky surveys. The eclipsing Intermediate Polar V597 Pup (Nova Puppis 2007)

Photometric observations of V597 Pup made in 2008, 9.1 mag below maximum, 4 months after eruption, showed no certain orbital modulation but exhibited a quintuplet of oscillations centred on a period 261.9 s and uniform splitting at a frequency ~2.68 h^{-1}. One year later the system had fallen in brightness by a further 2.5 mag, showed deep eclipses with a period of 2.6687 h, and the 261.9 s modulation at a reduced amplitude. Multi-epoch time-resolved photometry of the eclipsing polar CSS081231:J071126+440405

The eclipsing polar CSS081231 turned bright (V_max ~ 14.5) in late 2008 and was subsequently observed intensively with small and medium-sized telescopes. A homogeneous analysis of this comprehensive dataset comprising 109 eclipse epochs is presented and a linear ephemeris covering the five years of observations, about 24000 orbital cycles, is derived. Formally this sets rather tight constraints on the mass of a hypothetical circumbinary planet, M_pl <= 2 M_Jup. This preliminary result needs consolidation by long-term monitoring of the source. CSS100603:112253-111037: A helium-rich dwarf nova with a 65 minute orbital period

We present time-resolved optical spectroscopy of the dwarf nova CSS100603:112253-111037. Its optical spectrum is rich in helium, with broad, double-peaked emission lines produced in an accretion disc. We measure a line flux ratio HeI5876/H_alpha = 1.49 +/- 0.04, a much higher ratio than is typically observed in dwarf novae. The orbital period, as derived from the radial velocity of the line wings, is 65.233 +/- 0.015 minutes. In combination with the previously measured superhump period, this implies an extreme mass ratio of M_2/M_1 = 0.017 +/- 0.004. The H_alpha and HeI6678 emission lines addi…

A Search for OB Associations Near Southern Long-Period Cepheids. V. AQ Puppis and V620 Puppis

A photometric UBV survey is presented for 610 stars in a region surrounding the Cepheid AQ Puppis and centered southwest of the variable, based upon photoelectric measures for 14 stars and calibrated iris photometry of photographic plates of the field for 596 stars. An analysis of reddening and distance for program stars indicates that the major dust complex in this direction is ~1.8 kpc distant, producing differential extinction described by a ratio of total-to-selective extinction of R=Av/E(B-V)=3.10+-0.20. Discovery of the spectroscopic binary nature of six southern Cepheids

We present the analysis of photometric and spectroscopic data of six bright Galactic Cepheids: GH Carinae, V419 Centauri, V898 Centauri, AD Puppis, AY Sagittarii, and ST Velorum. Based on new radial velocity data (in some cases supplemented with earlier data available in the literature), these Cepheids have been found to be members in spectroscopic binary systems. V898 Cen turned out to have one of the largest orbital radial velocity amplitude (> 40 km/s) among the known binary Cepheids. Life after eruption - III. Orbital periods of the old novae V365 Car, AR Cir, V972 Oph, HS Pup, V909 Sgr, V373 Sct and CN Vel

We present time-series photometric and spectroscopic data for seven old novae. They are used to derive the orbital period for the systems V365 Car (5.35 h), AR Cir (5.14 h), V972 Oph (6.75 h), HS Pup (6.41 h), V373 Sct (3.69 h), V909 Sgr (3.43 h) and CN Vel (5.29 h). Their addition increases the number of orbital periods for novae by ~10 per cent. The eclipsing nature of V909 Sgr is confirmed, and in three other cases (V365 Car, Ar Cir and V373 Sct) we detect significant photometric orbital variability with amplitudes >=0.2 mag in R. Review of light curves of novae in the modified scales. III. V1047 Cen at 2019

Unique Nova Centauri 2005, V1047 Cen, by a form of the modified light curve was included into the CP Pup group. It means that the re-brightening in 2019 occurred still during the finishal stage of the 2005 outburst and can be connected with the current activity of the post-nova.
