A Pick function related to the sequence of volumes of the unit ball in n-space

We show that F_a(x)=\frac{\ln Γ(x+1)}{x\ln(ax)} is a Pick function for a\ge 1 and find its integral representation. We also consider the function f(x)=(\frac{π^{x/2}}{Γ(1+x/2)})^{1/(x\ln x)} and show that \ln f(x+1) is a Stieltjes function and that f(x+1) is completely monotonic on (0,\infty). In particular f(n)=Ω_n^{1/(n\ln n)},n\ge 2 is a Hausdorff moment sequence. Here Ω_n is the volume of the unit ball in Euclidean n-space

The bitangential matrix Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem revisited

We revisit four approaches to the BiTangential Operator Argument Nevanlinna-Pick (BTOA-NP) interpolation theorem on the right half plane: (1) the state-space approach of Ball-Gohberg-Rodman, (2) the Fundamental Matrix Inequality approach of the Potapov school, (3) a reproducing kernel space interpretation for the solution criterion, and (4) the Grassmannian/Kre\uın-space geometry approach of Ball-Helton. The polyharmonic Bergman space for the union of rotated unit balls

In the paper we consider the polyharmonic Bergman space for the union of the rotated unit Euclidean balls. Using so called zonal polyharmonics we derive the formulas for the kernel of this space. Moreover, we study the weighted polyharmonic Bergman space. By the same argument we get the Bergman kernel for this space.

Moduli of Smoothness and Approximation on the Unit Sphere and the Unit Ball

A new modulus of smoothness based on the Euler angles is introduced on the unit sphere and is shown to satisfy all the usual characteristic properties of moduli of smoothness, including direct and inverse theorem for the best approximation by polynomials and its equivalence to a $K$-functional, defined via partial derivatives in Euler angles. The set of results on the moduli on the sphere serves as a basis for defining new moduli of smoothness and their corresponding $K$-functionals on the unit ball, which are used to characterize the best approximation by polynomials on the ball.

Radial growth of harmonic functions in the unit ball

We study harmonic functions which admit a certain majorant in the unit ball in $\R^m $. We prove that when the majorant fulfills a doubling condition, the extremal growth or decay may occur only along small sets of radii, and we give precise estimates of these exceptional sets.

Weighted Estimates for the Berezin Transform and Bergman Projection on the Unit Ball in $\mathbb{C}^{n}$

Using modern techniques of dyadic harmonic analysis, we are able to prove sharp estimates for the Bergman projection and Berezin transform and more general operators in weighted Bergman spaces on the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n$. Orthogonal Polynomials on the Unit Ball and Fourth-Order Partial Differential Equations

The purpose of this work is to analyse a family of mutually orthogonal polynomials on the unit ball with respect to an inner product which includes an additional term on the sphere. First, we will get connection formulas relating classical multivariate orthogonal polynomials on the ball with our family of orthogonal polynomials. Then, using the representation of these polynomials in terms of spherical harmonics, algebraic and differential properties will be deduced.
