In this paper Hilbert spaces are characterized among Banach spaces in terms of transitivity with respect to nicely behaved subgroups of the isometry group. For example, the following result is typical here: If X is a real Banach space isomorphic to a Hilbert space and convex-transitive with respect to the isometric finite-dimensional perturbations of the identity, then X is already isometric to a Hilbert space.

A distance formula related to a family of projections orthogonal to their symmetries

Let u be a hermitian involution, and e an orthogonal projection, acting on the same Hilbert space. We establish the exact formula, in terms of the norm of eue, for the distance from e to the set of all orthogonal projections q from the algebra generated by e,u, and such that quq=0.

Pontryagin Space Structure in Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Spaces over *-semigroups

The geometry of spaces with indefinite inner product, known also as Krein spaces, is a basic tool for developing Operator Theory therein. In the present paper we establish a link between this geometry and the algebraic theory of *-semigroups. It goes via the positive definite functions and related to them reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Frame analysis and approximation in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces

We consider frames F in a given Hilbert space, and we show that every F may be obtained in a constructive way from a reproducing kernel and an orthonormal basis in an ambient Hilbert space. The construction is operator-theoretic, building on a geometric formula for the analysis operator defined from F. Our focus is on the infinite-dimensional case where a priori estimates play a central role, and we extend a number of results which are known so far only in finite dimensions. Mosic and Djordjevic introduced the notation of the gDMP inverse for Hilbert space operators in [J. Spectr. Theory, 8(2):555-573, 2018] by considering generalized Drazin inverse with the Moore-Penrose inverse.
