In this paper polar codes are proposed for two receiver broadcast channels with receiver message side information (BCSI) and noncausal state available at the encoder, referred to as BCSI with noncausal state for short, where the two receivers know a priori the private messages intended for each other. This channel generalizes BCSI with common message and Gelfand-Pinsker problem and has applications in cellular communication systems. We establish an achievable rate region for BCSI with noncausal state and show that it is strictly larger than the straightforward extension of the Gelfand-Pinsker …
In this paper, we study relay networks with orthogonal components in presence of noncausal channel state information (CSI) available at the source. We propose an upper bound on the capacity of the discrete memoryless model (DM)for the case in which just the source component intended for the destination is encoded against the CSI known non-causally at the source. Also, we derive capacity for two special classes of the Gaussian structure of the model. The first class is the one for which we have obtained the upper bound and the second class is the one in which all of the source components intend…
We derive the capacity region of the state-dependent semideterministic broadcast channel with noncausal state-information at the transmitter. One of the two outputs of this channel is a deterministic function of the channel input and the channel state, and the state is assumed to be known noncausally to the transmitter but not to the receivers. We show that appending the state to the deterministic output does not increase capacity. We also derive an outer bound on the capacity of general (not necessarily semideterministic) state-dependent broadcast channels.
In this paper, first, we investigate the model of degraded broadcast channel with side information and confidential messages. This work is from Steinberg's work on the degraded broadcast channel with causal and noncausal side information, and Csisz$\acute{a}$r-Körner's work on broadcast channel with confidential messages. Inner and outer bounds on the capacity-equivocation regions are provided for the noncausal and causal cases. Superposition coding and double-binning technique are used in the corresponding achievability proofs. Then, we investigate the degraded broadcast channel with side inf…
The Equivalence of Causal and Noncausal State Information on Bipartite Networks With State-Cognizant Receivers

In this paper, we study the finite blocklength limits of state-dependent discrete memoryless channels where the discrete memoryless state is known noncausally at the encoder. For the point-to-point case, this is known as the Gel'fand-Pinsker channel model. We define the (n,ε)-capacity of the Gel'fand-Pinsker channel as the maximal rate of transmission of a message subject to the condition that the length of the block-code is n and the average error probability is no larger than ε. This paper provides a lower bound for the (n,ε)-capacity of the Gel'fand-Pinsker channel model, and hence an upper…
The impact of imperfect CSIT on the degrees of freedom (DoF) of a time correlated MISO Broadcast Channel has drawn a lot of attention recently. Maddah-Ali and Tse have shown that the completely stale CSIT still benefit the DoF. In very recent works, Yang et al. have extended the results by integrating the partial current CSIT for a two-user MISO broadcast channel. However, those researches so far focused on a symmetric case. In this contribution, we investigate a more general case where the transmitter has knowledge of current CSI of both users with unequal qualities. The essential ingredient …
In general, the different links of a broadcast channel may experience different fading dynamics and, potentially, unequal or hybrid channel state information (CSI) conditions. The faster the fading and the shorter the fading block length, the more often the link needs to be trained and estimated at the receiver, and the more likely that CSI is stale or unavailable at the transmitter. Disparity of link fading dynamics in the presence of CSI limitations can be modeled by a multi-user broadcast channel with both non-identical link fading block lengths as well as dissimilar link CSIR/CSIT conditio…
In this paper, a new proof for the degrees of freedom (DoF) region of the K-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel (BC) with no channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and perfect channel state information at the receivers (CSIR) is provided. Based on this proof, the capacity region of a certain class of MIMO BC with channel distribution information at the transmitter (CDIT) and perfect CSIR is derived. Finally, an outer bound for the DoF region of the MIMO interference channel (IC) with no CSIT is provided.
In the setting of the two-user broadcast channel, recent work by Maddah-Ali and Tse has shown that knowledge of prior channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) can be useful, even in the absence of any knowledge of current CSIT. Very recent work by Kobayashi et al., Yang et al., and Gou and Jafar, extended this to the case where, instead of no current CSIT knowledge, the transmitter has partial knowledge, and where under a symmetry assumption, the quality of this knowledge is identical for the different users' channels. Motivated by the fact that in multiuser settings, the quality of…
We consider the time correlated MISO broadcast channel where the transmitter has partial knowledge on the current channel state, in addition to delayed channel state information (CSI). Rather than exploiting only the current CSI, as the zero-forcing precoding, or only the delayed CSI, as the Maddah-Ali-Tse (MAT) scheme, we propose a seamless strategy that takes advantage of both. The achievable degrees of freedom of the proposed scheme is characterized in terms of the quality of the current channel knowledge.
Obtaining accurate Channel State Information (CSI) at the transmitters (TX) is critical to many cooperation schemes such as Network MIMO, Interference Alignment etc. Practical CSI feedback and limited backhaul-based sharing inevitably creates degradations of CSI which are specific to each TX, giving rise to a distributed form of CSI. In the Distributed CSI (D-CSI) broadcast channel setting, the various TXs design elements of the precoder based on their individual estimates of the global multiuser channel matrix, which intuitively degrades performance when compared with the commonly used centra…
Channel state information at the transmitter affects the degrees of freedom of the wireless networks. In this paper, we analyze the DoF for the K-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) with synergistic alternating channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT). Specifically, the CSIT of each user alternates between three states, namely, perfect CSIT (P), delayed CSIT (D) and no CSIT (N) among different time slots. For the K-user MISO BC, we show that the total achievable degrees of freedom (DoF) are given by $\frac{K^{2}}{2K-1}$ through utilizing the synergistic b…
The channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) play an important role in the performance of wireless networks. The CSIT model can be delayed and imperfect-quality, since the feedback link has a delay and the channel state information (CSI) feedback has distortion. In this paper, we thus characterize the degrees-of-freedom (DoF) region of the two-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel with delayed imperfect-quality CSIT, where the antenna configurations can be arbitrary. The converse proof of DoF region is based on the enhancement of physically degraded channel. T…
The 3-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) with hybrid channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) is considered. In this framework, there is perfect and instantaneous CSIT from a subset of users and delayed CSIT from the remaining users. We present new results on the degrees of freedom (DoF) of the 3-user MISO BC with hybrid CSIT. In particular, for the case of 2 transmit antennas, we show that with perfect CSIT from one user and delayed CSIT from the remaining two users, the optimal DoF is 5/3. For the case of 3 transmit antennas and the same hybrid CSIT se…
An outer bound for the degrees of freedom (DoF) region of the K-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) is developed under the hybrid channel state information at transmitter (CSIT) model, in which the transmitter has instantaneous CSIT of channels to a subset of the receivers and delayed CSIT of channels to the rest of the receivers. For the 3-user MISO BC, when the transmitter has instantaneous CSIT of the channel to one receiver and delayed CSIT of channels to the other two, two new communication schemes are designed, which are able to achieve the DoF tuple of $\left…
This paper characterizes the degrees of freedom (DoF) regions for the multi-user vector broadcast channel with periodic channel state information (CSI) feedback. As a part of the characterization, a new transmission method called space-time interference alignment is proposed, which exploits both the current and past CSI jointly. Using the proposed alignment technique, an inner bound of the sum-DoF region is characterized as a function of a normalized CSI feedback frequency, which measures CSI feedback speed compared to the speed of user's channel variations. One consequence of the result is th…
Since Maddah-Ali and Tse showed that the completely stale transmitter-side channel state information (CSIT) still benefits the Degrees of Freedom (DoF) of the Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MISO) Broadcast Channel (BC), there has been much interest in the academic literature to investigate the impact of imperfect CSIT on \emph{DoF} region of time correlated broadcast channel. Even though the research focus has been on time correlated channels so far, a similar but different problem concerns the frequency correlated channels. Indeed, the imperfect CSIT also impacts the DoF region of frequency …
DoF Upper Bound on Three-User MISO Broadcast Channel with Two Antennas and Mixed CSIT
本文研究了具有两根发射天线和混合CSIT的三用户MISO广播信道,利用genie-aided signaling和极值不等式推导出sum-DoF上界,并证明其最多比预期sum-DoF大12.5%。
In this paper, we consider a MU-MISO system where users have highly accurate Channel State Information (CSI), while the Base Station (BS) has partial CSI consisting of an imperfect channel estimate and statistical knowledge of the CSI error. With the objective of maximizing the Average Sum Rate (ASR) subject to a power constraint, a special transmission scheme is considered where the BS transmits a common symbol in a multicast fashion, in addition to the conventional private symbols. This scheme is termed Joint Multicasting and Broadcasting (JMB). The ASR problem is transformed into an augment…
This contribution investigates the Degrees-of-Freedom region of a two-user frequency correlated Multiple-Input-Single-Output (MISO) Broadcast Channel (BC) with imperfect Channel State Information at the transmitter (CSIT). We assume that the system consists of an arbitrary number of subbands, denoted as $L$. Besides, the CSIT state varies across users and subbands. A tight outer-bound is found as a function of the minimum average CSIT quality between the two users. Based on the CSIT states across the subbands, the DoF region is interpreted as a weighted sum of the optimal DoF regions in the sc…
Rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) has appeared as a powerful transmission and multiple access strategy for multi-user multi-antenna communications. Uniquely, this paper studies the optimization of the sum-rate of RSMA with imperfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter (CSIT) and the receivers (CSIR). The robustness of the RSMA approach against imperfect CSIT has been investigated in the previous studies while there has been no consideration for the effects of imperfect CSIR. This motivates us to develop a robust design relying on RSMA in the presence of both imperfect CSIT a…
This work analyses the Generalized Degrees-of-Freedom (GDoF) of the 2-User Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) Broadcast Channel (BC) in the so-called Distributed CSIT regime, with application to decentralized wireless networks. This regime differs from the classical limited CSIT one in that the CSIT is not just noisy but also imperfectly shared across the transmitters (TXs). Hence, each TX precodes data on the basis of local CSIT and statistical quality information at other TXs. We derive the GDoF result and obtain the surprising outcome that by specific accounting of the pathloss information…
This paper theoretically characterizes the degrees-of-freedom (DoF) region of order-$(K-1)$ messages for the $K$-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel with delayed channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and arbitrary antenna configurations, where the transmitter has $M$ antennas and the receiver $i=1,2,\cdots,K$ has $N_i$ antennas. For the converse, we first derive the DoF region of order-$(K-1)$ messages for the $K$-user MIMO broadcast channel with no CSIT and arbitrary antenna configurations with the aid of the proposed Genie-bound, and then establish the …
In this paper, we investigate problems of communication over physically degraded, state-dependent broadcast channels (BCs) with cooperating decoders. Two different setups are considered and their capacity regions are characterized. First, we study a setting in which one decoder can use a finite capacity link to send the other decoder information regarding the messages or the channel states. In this scenario we analyze two cases: one where noncausal state information is available to the encoder and the strong decoder and the other where state information is available only to the encoder in a ca…
In this paper, we investigate the problem of secure broadcasting over block-fading channels with limited channel knowledge at the transmitter. More particularly, we analyze the effect of having imperfect channel state information (CSI) via a finite rate feedback on the throughput of a broadcast channel where the transmission is intended for multiple legitimate receivers in the presence of an eavesdropper. First, we partially characterize the ergodic secrecy capacity of the system when the source broadcasts the same information to all the receivers, i.e., common message transmission. Then, we l…
We consider the problem of covert communication over a state-dependent channel, where the transmitter has causal or noncausal knowledge of the channel states. Here, "covert" means that a warden on the channel should observe similar statistics when the transmitter is sending a message and when it is not. When a sufficiently long secret key is shared between the transmitter and the receiver, we derive closed-form formulas for the maximum achievable covert communication rate ("covert capacity") for discrete memoryless channels and, when the transmitter's channel-state information (CSI) is noncaus…
This work studies the optimal Degrees-of-Freedom (DoF) of the $K$-User MISO Broadcast Channel (BC) with delayed Channel-State Information at the Transmitter (CSIT) and with additional current noisy CSIT where the current channel estimation error scales in~$P^{-α}$ for $α\in[0,1]$. This papers establishes for the first time the optimal DoF in this setting thanks to a new transmission scheme which achieves the elusive DoF-optimal combining of the Maddah-Ali and Tse scheme (MAT) introduced in their seminal work in $2010$ with Zero-Forcing (ZF) for an arbitrary number of users. The derived sum DoF…
The degrees of freedom (DoF) region is characterized for the $2$-user multiple input multiple output (MIMO) broadcast channel (BC), where the transmitter is equipped with $M$ antennas, the two receivers are equipped with $N_1$ and $N_2$ antennas, and the levels of channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) for the two users are parameterized by $β_1, β_2$, respectively. The achievability of the DoF region was established by Hao, Rassouli and Clerckx, but no proof of optimality was heretofore available. The proof of optimality is provided in this work with the aid of sum-set inequaliti…
The work considers the two-user MISO broadcast channel with gradual and delayed accumulation of channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT), and addresses the question of how much feedback is necessary, and when, in order to achieve a certain degrees-of-freedom (DoF) performance. Motivated by limited-capacity feedback links that may not immediately convey perfect CSIT, and focusing on the block fading scenario, we consider a progressively increasing CSIT quality as time progresses across the coherence period (T channel uses - evolving current CSIT), or at any time after (delayed CSIT).…
Rate-Splitting and Sum-DoF for the K-User MISO Broadcast Channel with Mixed CSIT and Order-(K-1) Messages
本文针对混合CSIT和阶数(K-1)消息的K用户MISO广播信道,提出嵌入回顾性干扰对齐的速率分裂方案以刻画自由度之和,并发现K>2时自由度之和随CSIT质量饱和。
For the two-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel with delayed channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and arbitrary antenna configurations, all the degrees-of-freedom (DoF) regions are obtained. However, for the three-user MIMO broadcast channel with delayed CSIT and arbitrary antenna configurations, the DoF region of order-2 messages is still unclear and only a partial achievable DoF region of order-1 messages is obtained, where the order-2 messages and order-1 messages are desired by two receivers and one receiver, respectively. In this paper, for the thre…
One of the famous problems in communications was the so-called "PN" problem in the Broadcast Channel, which refers to the setting where a fixed set of users provide perfect Channel State Information (CSI) to a multi-antenna transmitter, whereas the remaining users only provide finite-precision CSI or no CSI. The Degrees-of-Freedom (DoF) of that setting were recently derived by means of the Aligned Image Set approach. In this work, we resolve the cache-aided variant of this problem (i.e., the "PN" setting with side information) in the regime where the number of users providing perfect CSI is sm…
We consider the time correlated multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel where the transmitter has imperfect knowledge on the current channel state, in addition to delayed channel state information. By representing the quality of the current channel state information as P^-α for the signal-to-noise ratio P and some constant α \geq 0, we characterize the optimal degree of freedom region for this more general two-user MISO broadcast correlated channel. The essential ingredients of the proposed scheme lie in the quantization and multicasting of the overheard interferences, while broa…
The K-user multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel (BC) with no channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) is considered, where each receiver is assumed to be equipped with reconfigurable antennas capable of choosing a subset of receiving modes from several preset modes. Under general antenna configurations, the sum linear degrees of freedom (LDoF) of the K-user MIMO BC with reconfigurable antennas is completely characterized, which corresponds to the maximum sum DoF achievable by linear coding strategies. The LDoF region is further characterized for a class of ant…
An emerging trend of next generation communication systems is to provide network edges with additional capabilities such as storage resources in the form of caches to reduce file delivery latency. To investigate the impact of this technique on latency, we study the delivery time of a cache-aided broadcast-relay wireless network consisting of one central base station, $M$ cache-equipped transceivers and $K$ receivers under finite precision channel state information (CSI). We use the normalized delivery time (NDT) to capture the worst-case per-bit latency in a file delivery. Lower and upper boun…
In this work, we investigate the problem of secure broadcasting over block-fading wiretap channels with limited channel knowledge at the transmitter. More particularly, we analyze the effect of having a finite rate feedback on the throughput of multi-user broadcast wiretap channels. We consider that the transmitter is only provided by a $b$-bits feedback of the main channel state information (CSI) sent by each legitimate receiver, at the beginning of each fading block, over error-free public links with limited capacity. Also, we assume that the transmitter is aware of the statistics of the eav…
In this contribution, we focus on a frequency domain two-user Multiple-Input-Single-Output Broadcast Channel (MISO BC) where the transmitter has imperfect and (un)matched Channel State Information (CSI) of the two users in two subbands. We provide an upper-bound to the Degrees-of-Freedom (DoF) region, which is tight compared to the state of the art. By decomposing the subbands into subchannels according to the CSI feedback qualities, we interpret the DoF region as the weighted-sum of that in each subchannel. Moreover, we study the sum \emph{DoF} loss when employing sub-optimal schemes, namely …
The degrees of freedom (DoF) of the two-user Gaussian multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel with confidential message (BCC) is studied under the assumption that delayed channel state information (CSI) is available at the transmitter. We characterize the optimal secrecy DoF (SDoF) region and show that it can be achieved by a simple artificial noise alignment (ANA) scheme. The proposed scheme sends the confidential messages superposed with the artificial noise over several time slots. Exploiting delayed CSI, the transmitter aligns the signal in such a way that the useful me…
This paper considers the multiantenna broadcast channel without transmit-side channel state information (CSIT). For this channel, it has been known that when all receivers have channel state information (CSIR), the degrees of freedom (DoF) cannot be improved beyond what is available via TDMA. The same is true if none of the receivers possess CSIR. This paper shows that an entirely new scenario emerges when receivers have unequal CSIR. In particular, orthogonal transmission is no longer DoF-optimal when one receiver has CSIR and the other does not. A multiplicative superposition is proposed for…
The Maddah-Ali and Tse (MAT) scheme is a linear precoding strategy that exploits Interference Alignment and perfect, but delayed, channel state information at the transmitters (delayed CSIT), improving the degrees of freedom (DoF) that can be achieved for the broadcast channel (BC). Since its appearance, many works have extended the concept of Retrospective Interference Alignment (RIA) to other multi-user channel configurations. However, little is known about the broadcast channel with multiple cells, i.e. the interference broadcast channel (IBC). In this work, the DoF are studied for the $K$-…
We consider a $K$-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) where the channel state information (CSI) of user $i(i=1,2,\ldots,K)$ may be either instantaneously perfect (P), delayed (D) or not known (N) at the transmitter with probabilities $λ_P^i$, $λ_D^i$ and $λ_N^i$, respectively. In this setting, according to the three possible CSIT for each user, knowledge of the joint CSIT of the $K$ users could have at most $3^K$ states. Although the results by Tandon et al. show that for the symmetric two user MISO BC (i.e., $λ_Q^i=λ_Q,\ \forall i\in \{1,2\}, Q\in \{P,D,N\}$), the …
In this work, we study the impact of imperfect sharing of the Channel State Information (CSI) available at the transmitters on a Network MIMO setting in which a set of $M$ transmit antennas, possibly not co-located, jointly serve two multi-antenna users endowed with $N_1$ and $N_2$ antennas, respectively. We consider the case where only a subset of $k$ transmit antennas have access to perfect CSI, whereas the other $M-k$ transmit antennas have only access to finite precision CSI. The analysis of this configuration aims to answer the question of how much an extra informed antenna can help. We m…
Studies of the MISO Broadcast Channel (BC) with delayed Channel State Information at the Transmitter (CSIT) have so far focused on the sum-rate and Degrees-of-Freedom (DoF) region analysis. In this paper, we investigate for the first time the error rate performance at finite SNR and the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) at infinite SNR of a space-time encoded transmission over a two-user MISO BC with delayed CSIT. We consider the so-called MAT protocol obtained by Maddah-Ali and Tse, which was shown to provide 33% DoF enhancement over TDMA. While the asymptotic DMT analysis shows that MAT …
We consider a $K$-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) where the channel state information (CSI) of user $i(i=1,2,\ldots,K)$ may be either perfect (P), delayed (D) or not known (N) at the transmitter with probabilities $λ_P^i$, $λ_D^i$ and $λ_N^i$, respectively. In this channel, according to the three possible CSIT for each user, joint CSIT of the $K$ users could have at most $3^K$ realizations. Although the results by Tandon et al. show that the Degrees of Freedom (DoF) region for the two user MISO BC with symmetric marginal probabilities (i.e., $λ_Q^i=λ_Q \forall i…
Achievable data rates in wireless systems rely heavily on the available channel state information (CSI) throughout the network. However, feedback links, which provide this information, are scarce, unreliable, and subject to security threats. In this work, we study the impact of having intermittent feedback links on the capacity region of the canonical two-user erasure broadcast channels. In our model, at any time instant, each receiver broadcasts its CSI, and at any other node, this information either becomes available with unit delay or gets erased. For this setting, we develop a new set of o…
We study a two-user state-dependent generalized multiple-access channel (GMAC) with correlated states. It is assumed that each encoder has \emph{noncausal} access to channel state information (CSI). We develop an achievable rate region by employing rate-splitting, block Markov encoding, Gelfand--Pinsker multicoding, superposition coding and joint typicality decoding. In the proposed scheme, the encoders use a partial decoding strategy to collaborate in the next block, and the receiver uses a backward decoding strategy with joint unique decoding at each stage. Our achievable rate region include…
We study the impact of heterogeneity of channel-state-information available at the transmitters (CSIT) on the capacity of broadcast channels with a multiple-antenna transmitter and $k$ single-antenna receivers (MISO BC). In particular, we consider the $k$-user MISO BC, where the CSIT with respect to each receiver can be either instantaneous/perfect, delayed, or not available; and we study the impact of this heterogeneity of CSIT on the degrees-of-freedom (DoF) of such network. We first focus on the $3$-user MISO BC; and we completely characterize the DoF region for all possible heterogeneous C…
In this paper, the sum secure degrees of freedom (SDoF) of the $K$-user Multiple Input/Single Output (MISO) Broadcast Channel with Confidential Messages (BCCM) and alternating Channel State Information at the Transmitter (CSIT) is investigated. In the MISO BCCM, a $K$-antenna transmitter (TX) communicates toward $K$ single-antenna receivers (RXs), so that message for RX $k$ is kept secret from RX $j$ with $j<k$. For this model, we consider the scenario in which the CSI of the RXs from $2$ to $K$ is instantaneously known at the transmitter while CSI of RX $1$ is known at the transmitter (i) ins…
We consider a $K$-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) where the channel state information (CSI) of user $i(i=1,2,\ldots,K)$ may be instantaneously perfect (P), delayed (D) or not known (N) at the transmitter with probabilities $λ_P^i$, $λ_D^i$ and $λ_N^i$, respectively. In this setting, according to the three possible CSIT for each user, knowledge of the joint CSIT of the $K$ users could have at most $3^K$ states. In this paper, given the marginal probabilities of CSIT (i.e., $λ_P^i$, $λ_D^i$ and $λ_N^i$), we derive an outer bound for the DoF region of the $K$-user …
The two-user wireless ergodic fading Broadcast Channel (BC) with partial Channel State Information at the Transmitter (CSIT) is considered. The CSIT is given by an arbitrary deterministic function of the channel state. This characteristic yields a full control over how much state information is available, from perfect to no information. In literature, capacity derivations for wireless ergodic fading channels, specifically for fading BCs, mostly rely on the analysis of channels comprising of parallel sub-channels. This technique is usually suitable for the cases where perfect state information …
We consider communication over heterogeneous parallel channels, where a transmitter is connected to two users via two parallel channels: a MIMO broadcast channel (BC) and a noiseless rate-limited multicast channel. We characterize the optimal degrees of freedom (DoF) region of this setting when the transmitter has delayed channel state information (CSIT) regarding the MIMO BC. Our results show that jointly coding over the two channels strictly outperforms simple channel aggregation and can even achieve the instantaneous CSIT performance with completely outdated CSIT on the MIMO BC in the sum D…
We consider the design of linear precoders and receivers in a Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) Broadcast Channel (BC). We aim at minimizing the transmit power while fullfiling a set of per-user Quality-of-Service (QoS) constraints expressed in terms of per-user average rate requirements. The Channel State Information (CSI) is assumed to be perfectly known at the receivers but only partially at the transmitter. To solve the problem we transform the QoS constraints into Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) constraints. We then leverage the MSE duality between the BC and the Multiple Access Channe…
We investigate the multiple-input multiple-output broadcast channel with statistical channel state information available at the transmitter. The so-called linear assignment operation is employed, and necessary conditions are derived for the optimal transmit design under general fading conditions. Based on this, we introduce an iterative algorithm to maximize the linear assignment weighted sum-rate by applying a gradient descent method. To reduce complexity, we derive an upper bound of the linear assignment achievable rate of each receiver, from which a simplified closed-form expression for a n…
We consider the cache-aided MISO broadcast channel (BC) in which a multi-antenna transmitter serves $K$ single-antenna receivers, each equipped with a cache memory. The transmitter has access to partial knowledge of the channel state information. For a symmetric setting, in terms of channel strength levels, partial channel knowledge levels and cache sizes, we characterize the generalized degrees of freedom (GDoF) up to a constant multiplicative factor. The achievability scheme exploits the interplay between spatial multiplexing gains and coded-multicasting gain. On the other hand, a cut-set-ba…
The Gaussian broadcast channel (GBC) with $K$ transmit antennas and $K$ single-antenna users is considered for the case in which the channel state information is obtained at the transmitter via a finite-rate feedback link of capacity $r$ bits per user. The throughput (i.e., the sum-rate normalized by $K$) of the GBC is analyzed in the limit as $K \to \infty$ with $\frac{r}{K} \to \bar{r}$. Considering the transmission strategy of zeroforcing dirty paper coding (ZFDPC), a closed-form expression for the asymptotic throughput is derived. It is observed that, even under the finite-rate feedback se…
The state-dependent $K$-user memoryless Broadcast Channel~(BC) with state feedback is investigated. We propose a novel transmission scheme and derive its corresponding achievable rate region, which, compared to some general schemes that deal with feedback, has the advantage of being relatively simple and thus is easy to evaluate. In particular, it is shown that the capacity region of the symmetric erasure BC with an arbitrary input alphabet size is achievable with the proposed scheme. For the fading Gaussian BC, we derive a symmetric achievable rate as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio~(…
This paper focuses on linear beamforming design and power allocation strategy for ergodic rate optimization in a two-user Multiple-Input-Single-Output (MISO) system with statistical and delayed channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT). We propose a transmission strategy, denoted as Statistical Alternative MAT (SAMAT), which exploits both channel statistics and delayed CSIT. Firstly, with statistical CSIT only, we focus on statistical beamforming (SBF) design that maximizes a lower bound on the ergodic sum-rate. Secondly, relying on both statistical and delayed CSIT, an iterative alg…
Rate-Splitting with Hybrid Messages: DoF Analysis of the Two-User MIMO Broadcast Channel with Imperfect CSIT
本文研究不完美 CSIT 下两用户 MIMO 广播信道的混合单播与多播消息传输,刻画最优 DoF 区域,并提出感知混合消息的速率分割方案。
We study the degrees of freedom (DoF) regions of the two-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel with a general message set (BC-CM) - that includes private and common messages - under fast fading. Nine different channel state knowledge assumptions -collectively known as hybrid CSIT models - are considered wherein the transmitter has either perfect/instantaneous (P), delayed (D) or no (N) channel state information (CSI) from each of the two receivers. General antenna configurations are addressed wherein the three terminals have arbitrary numbers of antennas. The DoF regions…
