The masses of the neutral and charged D-mesons have been measured with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron-positron collider:
M(D^0) = 1865.30 +- 0.33 +- 0.23 MeV,
M(D^+) = 1869.53 +- 0.49 +- 0.20 MeV.
The product of the electronic width of the $J/ψ$ meson and the branching fractions of its decay to hadrons and electrons has been measured using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M $e^+e^-$ collider. The obtained values are: $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ) = 5.550 \pm 0.056 \pm 0.089 \, \text{keV}, $ $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ) \cdot \mathcal{B}_\text{hadrons}(J/ψ) = 4.884 \pm 0.048 \pm 0.078 \, \text{keV}, $ $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ) \cdot \mathcal{B}_{ee}(J/ψ) = 0.3331 \pm 0.0066 \pm 0.0040 \, \text{keV}.$ The uncertainties shown are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the result presented and the world-average value of the elec…
We report results of experiments performed with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e- collider. They include precise measurement of the D0 and D+- meson masses, determination of the psi(3770) resonance parameters, and a search for narrow resonances in e+e- annihilation at center-of-mass energies between 1.85 and 3.1 GeV.
A new high precision measurement of the $J/ψ$- and $ψ'$-meson masses has been performed at the VEPP-4M collider using the KEDR detector. The resonant depolarization method has been employed for the absolute calibration of the beam energy. The following mass values have been obtained: $M_{J/ψ} = 3096.917 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.007$ MeV, $M_{ψ'} = 3686.111 \pm 0.025 \pm 0.009$ MeV. The relative measurement accuracy has reached $4. 10^{-6}$ for $J/ψ$ and $7. 10^{-6}$ for $ψ'$, approximately 3 times better than in the previous precise experiments.
We report a new precise determination of the leptonic widths of the J/psi meson performed with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The measured values of the J/psi parameters are: Γ_{ee}\timesΓ_{ee}/Γ= 0.3323 \pm 0.0064 (stat.) \pm 0.0048 (syst.) keV Γ_{ee}\timesΓ_{μμ}/Γ=0.3318 \pm 0.0052 (stat.) \pm 0.0063 (syst.) keV. Assuming $eμ$ universality and using the table value of the branching ratios the leptonic Γ_{ll}= 5.59 \pm 0.12 keV width and the total Γ=94.1 \pm 2.7 keV widths were obtained. We also discuss in detail a method to calculate radiative corrections at a narrow…
The product of the electronic width of the $ψ(2S)$ meson and the branching fraction of its decay to the muon pair was measured in the $e^{+}e^{-} \to ψ(2S) \to μ^{+}μ^{-}$ process using nine data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.5 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron-positron collider: \[ Γ_{ee}\times\mathcal{B}_{μμ} = 19.3 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.5 ~\text{eV}. \] Adding the previous KEDR results on hadronic and leptonic channels, the values of the $ψ(2S)$ electronic width were obtained under two assumptions: either with the assumption of lepton uni…
Using 9.6 million B meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have fully reconstructed 135 B0 -> psi(') K_S and 526 B+ -> psi(') K+ candidates with very low background. We fitted the psi(')K invariant mass distributions of these B meson candidates and measured the masses of the neutral and charged B mesons to be M(B0)=5279.1+-0.7[stat]+-0.3[syst] MeV/c^2 and M(B+)=5279.1+-0.4[stat]+-0.4[syst] MeV/c^2. The precision is a significant improvement over previous measurements.
The ratio of the electron and muon widths of the $J/ψ$ meson has been measured using direct $J/ψ$ decays in the KEDR experiment at the VEPP-4M electron-positron collider. The result $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ)/Γ_{μμ}(J/ψ)=1.0022\pm0.0044\pm0.0048\ (0.65\%)$ is in good agreement with the lepton universality. The experience collected during this analysis will be used for a $J/ψ$ lepton width determination with up to 1% accuracy.
Using 580 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken with the CLEO--c detector at $ψ(3770)$, the decay $D^0(\overline{D}^0)\to K^\pmπ^\mp π^+π^-$ has been studied to make the highest precision measurement of $D^0$ mass, $M(D^0)=1864.845\pm0.025\pm0.022\pm0.053$ MeV, where the first error is statistical, the second error is systematic, and the third error is due to uncertainty in kaon masses. As an intermediate step of the present investigation the mass of the $K_S$ meson has been measured to be $M(K_S)=497.607\pm0.007\pm0.015$ MeV. Both $M(D^0)$ and $M(K_S)$ are the most precise single meas…
We attempt a comprehensive analysis of the low lying charm meson states which present several puzzles, including the poor determination of masses of several non-strange excited mesons. We use the well-determined masses of the ground states and the strange first excited states to `predict' the mass of the non-strange first excited state in the framework of heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory, an approach that is complementary to the well-known analysis of Mehen and Springer. This approach points to values for the masses of these states that are smaller than the experimental determinations. …
We propose a practical effective model by introducing temperature ($T$) dependence to the coupling strengths of four-quark and six-quark Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interactions in the 2+1 flavor Polyakov-loop extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The $T$ dependence is determined from LQCD data on the renormalized chiral condensate around the pseudocritical temperature $T_c^χ$ of chiral crossover and the screening-mass difference between $π$ and $a_0$ mesons in $T > 1.1T_c^χ$ where only the $U(1)_{\rm A}$-symmetry breaking survives. The model well reproduces LQCD data on screening masses $M_ξ^{\rm…
We study the low-lying scalar mesons of light u, d, s flavors in the QCD sum rule. Having all possible combinations of tetraquark currents in the local form, QCD sum rule analysis has been carefully performed. We found that using the appropriate tetraquark currents, the masses of sigma, kappa, f_0 and a_0 mesons appear in the region of 0.6 -- 1 GeV with the expected ordering. The results are compared with that of the conventional \bar{q} q currents, where the masses are considerably larger.
We compute masses of $D$ mesons, $D_s$ mesons and charmonium states using Wilson twisted mass lattice QCD. We present results for spin $J = 0,1,2,3$, parity $\mathcal{P} = -,+$ and in case of charmonium also charge conjugation $\mathcal{C} = -,+$. Computations are based on quark-antiquark creation operators and performed at three different unphysically heavy $u/d$ quark masses allowing an extrapolation to the physical $u/d$ quark mass. Within combined statistical and systematic errors, which are around $2 \% \ldots 3 \%$, our results agree with available experimental results. Particular focus …
Slight sophistications of the QCD sum-rule formalism may have great impact on the reliability of predicted hadron observables, as exemplified for the case of heavy-meson decay constants.
We compute masses of $D$ meson, $D_s$ meson and charmonium states using $N_f=2+1+1$ Wilson twisted mass lattice QCD. All results are extrapolated to physical light quark masses, physical strange and charm quark masses and to the continuum. Our analysis includes states with spin $J = 0,1,2$, parity $\mathcal{P} = -,+$ and in case of charmonium also charge conjugation $\mathcal{C} = -,+$. Computations are based on a large set of quark-antiquark meson creation operators. We investigate and quantify all sources of systematic errors, including fitting range uncertainties, finite volume effects, iso…
We investigate a nonrelativistic model of tetraquarks, which are assumed to be compact and to consist of diquark-antidiquark pairs. We fit, for the first time, basically all currently known values for the measured masses of 45 mesons, including both charmed and bottom mesons, to the model and predict masses of tetraquarks as well as diquarks. In particular, we find masses of four axial-vector diquarks, i.e., $qc$, $cc$, $qb$, and $bb$, where $q = u,d$, and 24 ground-state tetraquarks, including both heavy-light tetraquarks ($qc\overline{qc}$ and $qb\overline{qb}$) and heavy tetraquarks ($cc\ov…
We first derive the mass sum rules for the heavy hybrid mesons to obtain the binding energy and decay constants in the leading order of HQET. The pionic couplings between the lightest $1^{-+}$ hybrid $(Q\bar q g)$ and the lowest three heavy meson doublets are calculated with the light cone QCD sum rules. With $SU_f (3)$ flavor symmetry we calculate the widths for all the possible two-body decay processes with a Goldstone boson in the final state. The total width of the $1^{-+}$ hybrid is estimated to be 300 MeV. We find the dominant decay mode of the $1^{-+}$ hybrid is $1^{-+}\to π+ 1^+$ where…
We compute flavor non-singlet meson screening masses in the chiral limit of QCD with $N_f=3$ quarks. The calculation is carried out at 12 temperatures from $T\approx 1$ GeV up to the electroweak scale. For each temperature we simulated several lattice spacings, so as to be able to perform the continuum limit extrapolation with confidence at a few permille accuracy. In the entire range of temperatures explored, the meson screening masses deviate from the free theory result $2πT$ by at most a few percent. Their values, however, cannot be explained by one-loop perturbation theory up to the electr…
